A shiny new thread girls and hopefully we shall all get merrily up-duffed with sticky beans Grin

Hi all. Thought I would pop up and say hi to you all.
split sorry to hear you've had a hard day today.
hippy I know what you mean about your boobs getting you every month, I have been having the same thing too. I also for some reason am getting mild cramps from about 10-12 days before af every month and doesn't stop till af is gone!!
just out if interest did anyones docs tell you anything about ttc and thyroid issues? Sorry if you have already gone through this already. The reason I'm asking is that I called my doc to check I'm ok just to start ttc while on my thyroxine and she just said yeh and nothing more, I then did the stupid thing and went into google, I should be banned!!

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2010 20:21

Mouse Link [[http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2fee7f
here]]. Think WTF cycle is second one down. Is the one with 7 day luteal phase anyway.

spilttheteaagain · 21/11/2010 20:19

mouse, my WTF cycle is on my homepage at the bottom here

It's weirdly similar to Ladys, very short LP in particular. Have you had your first AF or are you thinking this is ovulation before the AF? (sorry I can't remember Blush)

I am utterly with you on the need to be pregnant again. I just feel like a limb has been cut off or something and I need it back! Occasionally I have a total panic of the "what if I can't get pregnant again" variety - obviously this is not helpful, but these horrible thoughts keep popping up. Praying it happens quickly for us.

Thanks Hippy, so sorry this hasn't been your month.

nickster so sorry you lost your baby too. Do you have any idea what happened?

Thanks Lady I've been googling about thyroids all evening. Getting a slight data overload now! Most of the sites seem to be American, they must take this more seriously.

Hi ladies, sorry you're having a crappy day spilt. I haven't been back to church yet. I wanted to go when it was empty because I know I'll be a wreck but it's only open when I'm at work.

Sorry it's not your month hippy, it would've been lovely to have another BFP on here Smile

Lady, I agree with digi, you should quit temping now and save any unnecessary heartache. Pleased you're feeling pukey!

I got my 3 temps above the coverline but they're only 36.30 ish so not high really. If anyone has their WTF cycle on FF would you be willing to share them?

I just want to be pg again so badly Sad

xxxx

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2010 19:10

Bugger Hippy. Would have loved you to be a bump buddy! Maybe next month Smile?

nickstermum · 21/11/2010 18:00

spilt new to this thread, but can i just say Im so sorry for your recent loss. I hope you are bearing up, but it can be so raw xx. I mc @ 12 weeks in august and would have been due around the same time as you, but obviously lost mine a lot earlier.

(((((hugs))))

hippychick66 · 21/11/2010 17:58

Just popped on to say hello to spilt - so sorry to hear you've had a hard time today. It's all totally understandable and i feel for you sweetie.

ladyG hope all goes ok for you. Keep those levels checked. See you on the thyroid thread.

I'm not charting at the moment (lazy).

My boobs seem to like to trick me every month at the moment. I think my body really responds to the progesterone in the LP and I get loads of symptoms. I was all ready to post on the thyroid thread that I was gonna be bump buddies with ladyG but alas I was wrong. BFN yesterday and AF today. Ahh well - I need to learn how to ignore my boobs!!!

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2010 16:37

Hi Spilt, I'm afrid I don't know any normal values. Only just started reading around this but I'm sure Dr Google has...

I read that there isn't a link between being Hypo and mc per se. There IS a link though between anti-thyroid antibodies and miscarriage (and obv a correltion to being Hypo via the antibodies). But the treatment is Thyroxine replacement and low dose aspirin. And some other stuff too but seems less consistent dependent on sources I have read. Some talk about daily Heparin injections and there was something else I can't remember but def worth discussing with your Doctor.

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2010 16:32

Digi I was tested positive for anti-Thyroid antibodies a few years ago for unrelated reasons to ttc, was when they were diagnosing me with Hypothyroidism. This was before I had DS. But I also have an extremely strong family history of auto-immune conditions (Mum has Lupus, Sister is Hypo and has Pernicious Anaemia, Maternal Grandmother had Rheumatoid Arthritis). All adds up. Also the way the mc happened. Heartbeat was fine but baby measuring a week too small at only 7 weeks - is consistent with a clotting disorder.

However, this is ALL self diagnosed - could still be a random chromosomal thing. Of course they won't do tests until you've lost another baby. I didn't know enough about it then to ask them to do Karyotyping. But taking low dose aspirin is harmless, cheap and may well help. I think ideally you would start before conceiving and continue until 37 weeks (not past as you don't want to risk excessive bleeding in labour). If I lose another I will ask to be referred to a Reproductive Immunologist given the family history.

I bought this book and really useful to try and diagnose cause and likely future risk profile.

spilttheteaagain · 21/11/2010 16:32

Thyroid antibodies are picked up from a blood test (I am waiting for results from mine). With mine they had picked up a thyroid issue from one of the many tests run on my bloods straight after birth (high TSH - Thyroid Stimulating Hormone - which can mean an underactive thyroid). An extra blood test was then done to see if the problem is my body attacking the thyroid - if there are antibodies this might be the case. Are you worried about your thyroid digi?

Lady do you know any values for thyroid antibodies? How many indicates a problem etc, is there a normal range?

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/11/2010 16:30

Sorry digitalgirl I should have read back over the thread first Sad Sorry you have had 3 MCs and the 3rd one very recently.

Hope you are ok and your DH / DP is taking good care of you x

spilttheteaagain · 21/11/2010 16:15

digi is there a name for blood clotting disorders so that I can search for some details?

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 21/11/2010 15:24

spilt clotting can cause probs in 2nd trimester and in those who carry into third it can cause small growth probs and premature labour. I'm not saying this to scare anyone but have done quite a bit of research on it as it is the one thing I want to find out whether i have or not before ttc again as it is preventable with aspirin and in those with a history of recurrent miscarriage or probs in pregnancy they often prescribe daily heparin injections. It's entirely treatable which is why a lot of researchers think women who have had a second trimester loss should be tested for it.

getdown my chart is rather boring at the moment and I'm not even ttc, just waiting for the egg so I know when to expect af. Need to wait for my second af post-mc before the next round of tests. (had third mc three weeks ago).

spilttheteaagain · 21/11/2010 15:13

Don't minimise your loss GetDown. One thing I have learnt is that length of pregnancy does not directly correlate to pain at the end. Each loss is unique and in it's own set of circumstances and it's not really possible to draw too many comparisions. It hurts for all of us. Take care of yourself too xx

digi no, not said anything about aspirin etc yet, though it is something I will ask about when we see the consultant on Thurs.

Lady do you know what stage MC the aspirin is supposed to help protect against? Is it to be taken all through pregnancy or just at the start like folic acid? I've no idea whether blood clotting could cause a loss at 20 weeks, or whether if I had that sort of problem I never would have got that far? I hope it works for you.

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 21/11/2010 15:03

Oh I am so sorry split. I went to church this morning too, and there are quite a few pregnant ladies there at our's too Sad.

I know my loss is nothing compared to what you've been through, but I do understand a little of what it's like. The bitter disappointment and sadness and thoughts of "what if?"

Well done for going, and it's fine that you had to leave half way through. It's still early days remember. I think you will have bad days, and not-so-bad days. Gradually the bad days will get fewer and fewer and the better days will get more and more.

I believe the right time for another pregnancy will come.

digitalgirl do you want to post a link to your chart and I'll have a look if you like? (sorry you've probably done so already earlier on)

digitalgirl · 21/11/2010 13:19

X posts spilt ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) don't feel bad for getting the day wrong, it was a painfully tragic weekend and the days must have seemed like they were running into each other. Feel so Sad for you. Have you been prescribed aspirin for next time like ladyg?

digitalgirl · 21/11/2010 13:16

ladyg please stop taking your temps now, it will only cause unnecessary worry. How did you find out you had those anti-bodies? Did you have any issues with your ds's pregnancy?

Temp nose dived to record low this morning so I was right not to read anything into yesterday's peak. Wondering if this means hormones are starting splutter into action?

spilttheteaagain · 21/11/2010 13:06

I was being a twat yesterday. I was 6 weeks yesterday not today since Bobbie was born. So angry with myself for not remembering properly.

We tried going to church today for the first time in a while and I was in tears in minutes. I couldn't sing anything, just stood there with a wet face, and then had to leave half way through. We went up to the cemetery instead to spend some time with Bobbie. It's just all such a fucking MESS and I hurt so much.

One of my friends at church is about 38 weeks and her bump set me right off Sad.

I should be 26+2 today, not sobbing at the sight of pregnant women.

A Bad Day.

nickstermum · 21/11/2010 11:04

ladyG hopefully everything stays nice and snug for you xx

Sound hopeful MrsA I thought i had sore boobs last night, but only when my 2stone cat stood on them Confused My temp went out the window last night after being up all night, yes all night with DS it shouldnt affect the big scheme of things to miss one should it?

Spilt, good to see you are doing ok post MC. It takes time, but you will get there xx

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 21/11/2010 09:29

getdown I'd agree CD23 from your temps.

LadyG hope things stay good for you.

Thanks for your comments about my temps. Two things are keeping me hopeful:

  1. i have tiny symptoms. Boobs not sore but are every so often achy and my appetite has gone (I was never sick with DD, just didn't feel hungry).
  2. With DD, I had no symptoms in the early days and after a year of BFN didn't even bother to test till CD42 and then got BFN until I went to throw in the bin after 15mins and the faintest of lines had appeared. It wasn't until CD46 that i got a really strong BFP, so am hoping if I am pg, it's following the same pattern.
As long as no af and temps abover coverline then there is still hope I guess.

Focussing on the positive - said to DD this morning that we would go swimming if she is good. She is now trying to clean all surfaces in reach with a wet wipe :)

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2010 09:15

Sore boobs. Sometimes feel a bit sick when hungry but never got full blown MS with MiniG anyway so not expecting it. Acute sense of smell. Bit tired.

Totally paranoid though. Upset this morning as my temps dropped by half a degree (98.5 to 97.9). Did another test. Now obsessing about whether the test should be a lot darker than the one I did two days ago (is very slightly darker but v marginal). It is very hard!

Have bought some low dose aspirin so taking that now as read it can help. I have anti-thyroid antibodies and read yesterday that doubles my chances of miscarriage. But the aspirin can help as it stops the clotting around the placenta that causes the mc. So hopefully taht will help.

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/11/2010 08:32

Do you think so Lady? Yes maybe CD23... I felt sure it was the day before, but temps suggest otherwise. Ah well we will see. Have never had a "fallback rise pattern" before Confused

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2010 08:24

Getdown checked your chart again this morning. Looks like day 23 with a fallback rise pattern (normal).

MrsA sorry you're feeling low. But try not to read too much into one temp. They sometimes shoot up the next day as more hormones released if you are pg. It's hard isn't it.

Hi Digi. Glad you got a night out. Not sure how many nights out we get together - prob a reasonable amount as MiniG goes to his Dad's every third weekend. But TBH I often just want to stay in and have an early night....to sleep!

GetDownYouWillFall · 21/11/2010 08:19

Hi all

LadyGoneGaga so pleased all is going well so far. Really hope this one is a keeper! Thanks for the advice re. the WTF cycle - also from you spilt. My LP is normally 12 days, so we'll have to see what it does this time. Will be gutted if it's only short this time, but does it resolve on the 2nd cycle after MC? Hope so! Am so sick of all this waiting!

Hope your cycle gets back on track soon spilt. Are you just going to take it easy, or are you going for OPKs etc. this month?
