Tis very scary i am an old bird then... 34! spilt i was 12 weeks when it was detected last time.

LadyGoneGaga · 09/12/2010 10:19

Today I am 7 weeks pregnant. And it is the day I started bleeding last time. Sad Wish me luck for getting through today (and the next few days)

Aw, Spilt - you're just a young un. Perfect child bearing age physically so you have the best chance to make this one work. Smile

I was reading about chances of Downs and they've about doubled since last time due to age. Was 29 when had MiniG, 32 now. Scary. If I want a third I'd better crack on after this one! Especially as took AF 20 months to come back after MiniG was born.

TerrysNo2 · 09/12/2010 10:12

Such a whippersnapper!! Grin

spilttheteaagain · 09/12/2010 09:53

Nix that all sounds really good. How many weeks were you before when the blighted ovum was detected? Sounds like a nice doctor Smile

terrys we're both 25. If this speck goes the distance then if it's 2 days early it will be born on our 5th wedding anniversary, and if it's 9 days late, on my 26th birthday!

TerrysNo2 · 09/12/2010 09:48

spilt IIRC you are quite young right? Could be the reason for your and DH's super fertility!

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 09/12/2010 09:47

ladyG we are the same wees months, poos still in pants! I say why? He says i like pooing in my pants... go figure! MrsA girls potty train so much easier than boys!! Bonkers!

GP was fine. Took blood for chick pox immunity. I have a bacterial imbalance internally which i was swabbed for pre pg. Have to go back for a re-swab today. He was re-assuring about the gloop/absence of it. The pressure may be my rubbish pelvic floor muscles, very reassuring, any probs he will get me into EPu and he booked me my first antenatal apt. Says not to fret about recurrent blighted ovum as he has never seen recurrent one, only recurrent MC. So right now as at this morning i am diffed.
(may be not tomorrow, but today i am!) Xmas Grin

spilttheteaagain · 09/12/2010 09:43

MrsA I think as Nix so aptly pointed out it is the law of sod. But DH is proud of himself!

If last time is anything to go by I better start eating fast as I have about 1-2 weeks before all I can do is lie weakly in bed sipping water and taking anti-emetics. And puking up my three teaspoons of tomato soup. What fun.

Hoping your weekend is egg filled.

LadyGoneGaga · 09/12/2010 09:34

Whoo, hoo BabyA - cracking going. MiniG got wees within a couple of days but poos have taken months and months - think we have cracked it now though, no accidents for a couple of weeks (touch wood). And as he's two and a half and a boy I'm pretty proud of him too!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/12/2010 09:28

Oh and thanks for asking about potty training. DD is a jedi master as we started on Friday and she cracked it by Sunday - no accidents all week, including 2 mega sleeps at nursery and she held on till she work. I've been sending 10 oufit changes every day and she's come home in her original clothes with no accidents!
DD is clearly not my child as she's a fast learner Grin

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/12/2010 09:25

Terrys ah well done love, you must be chuffed to conceive the first proper cycle!
I keep telling myself that, although I've been charting since June, due to holidays and other timing issues, we have only SWI properly for 3 cycles so early days.
Got a small amount of EWCM this morning, mild ov pain and did an OPK last night - negative but there was a faint line, so am hoping for this weekend.
AF is due on Xmas Day - what a pain re drinking!

Spilt wowowowowowowowowow. Good luck at the doctors. Is it awful to say I am v envious at your super fertility - SWI 4or 5 days before ov and conceived??!!
Try not to worry (easy to say) but at least you have the knowledge now - as jeff Goldblum said in Jurasic Park: Life finds a way. :)

TerrysNo2 · 09/12/2010 09:25

spilt I am very very excited for you but cautiously so IYSWIM. It would be so exciting to have so many of us on the August bus!

Let us know what the doc says!! Smile

Nix hope the GP goes well.

spilttheteaagain · 09/12/2010 08:56

Thanks Lady. I've got an appointment for 10.20 this morning now.

Nix I hope you're ok and that the GP visit goes well.

Take care all xx

Hope all goes well with Doctor, Spilt

LadyGoneGaga · 09/12/2010 08:34

Any more spotting, Nix? I wouldn't worry re: the presence/absence of gloop, hon.

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 09/12/2010 08:24

Gollygosh as DS would say! this certainly is the lucky thread!

spilt dont torture yourself you couldnt have known at teh time. Law of sod huh! I want to WHOOP for you but i dont want to upset you!!! Jeez louise! sod it...WHOOP!

And terrys a whoop for you too!!

mouse whoop for the gloop. I was getting gloop, worryingly it stopped yest, and my cervix is very low. Thats why i am worrying. Will see, gonne see the gp in oooooooooooops 10 mins and still in jim jams! best get a wriggel on

catch up lter, on hols today so a lazy decorating day :)

spilttheteaagain · 09/12/2010 08:24

I was doing some research yesterday and from what I have gleaned now:

-30% of the UK population are immune to toxo
-The risk to unborn babies depends on the stage of pregnancy. If you catch (note, actually catch it) toxo in the 1st trimester there is a 15% chance of transmitting it to the baby, 30% in the 2nd trimester and 60% in the 3rd.
-If you transmit it to the baby in the first trimester there is a high chance of MC
-If infected during the first or second trimester the baby may be born with hydrocephalus (water on the brain), brain damage, epilepsy, deafness, blindness or growth problems. The developmental problems may be so severe that the pregnancy ends in a stillbirth.
-If you transmit it to the baby in 3rd trimester there may not be such severe problems. But problems, particularly with vision, may become apparent later in life.

The general internet info is that some experts recommend waiting 6 months from an infection because there have been a few cases where women have had toxo around or shortly before conception and transmitted it to the baby.

Toxo has a 5-23 day incubation period. I am thinking back now: Bobbie's scan was 9 weeks ago today. She was about 15 weeks in size but 20 weeks in age, so it looks like things were going wrong from 14-15 weeks (perfect at 12) so presumably I caught toxo around 12-13 weeks and it finished incubating and started doing damage at about 14 weeks. So that is 15 weeks ago. But it was still strongly detected at the birth tests (20 weeks)

Current speck will only have implanted 2 days ago.

My concern is that the infection could still be active, but I suspect it must have been largely beaten down by now? I will act as if I am not immune until I know otherwise.

I'll see if the receptionist at the surgery is allowed to book me a self-requested blood test or if I have to see the GP first to "authorise" it.

The drugs they give are antibiotics called spiramycin, but I need to do some digging and see what they can do to a baby in the first trimester.

My hunch is that the risk is small. And if the baby does get it it's most likely to be a very early MC. And an early MC could be due to anything so nothing to beat myself up over, no?

spilttheteaagain · 09/12/2010 08:06

terrys so pleased for you Grin

Thanks girls, I'm terrified and excited too. Used an internet cheapie these.

I'm tempted by the FR terrys, just to get a better line. Now I can see with daylight I definitely have 2 positive tests Grin Confused. I am tempted to stick another in the wee pot just to check...

I guess I better find the consultant's phone number.

I feel so irresponsible, but that is also silly. We had ttc sex on Nov 23rd and Nov 24th. Saw consultant on the 25th and stopped immediately. I ovulated on the 28th so obviously the "damage" had already been done, as we had no sex since the 24th until 4dpo.

Denial is no use. I am up the duff.

LadyGoneGaga · 09/12/2010 07:58

Well, well, well. Congratulations Terrys. Big hugs. So exciting Xmas Grin

And Spilt - don't panic. I think it should be ok. Are you going to gte a FR as well? Better to know sooner rather than later so they can start you on drugs if necessary. xxxx

mousebacon · 09/12/2010 07:43

Yay!!!!! Congrats terrys xxxx Woohoo!

mousebacon · 09/12/2010 07:39

Oh spilt, calm thoughts love. If it is a positive then surely the docs will have something they can do?

Hope you're ok xxx

Terrys, have you POAS again this morning? X

TerrysNo2 · 09/12/2010 07:34

spilt I don't know whether to be excited or nervous for you so i can't imagine how torn you must be feeling?!? What did you pee on? I used a First Response last night after holding pee/not drinking for 5 hours, in case you can't wait till tomorrow?

Just took a CB Digital and it said: Pregnant 1-2 weeks!!! Grin

spilttheteaagain · 09/12/2010 06:59

Agh I am doing a terrys. Faintest of faint squinters-am-I-imagining-it line (actually I did 2 just incase one was duff!).

Gah. I will have to try again tomorrow. I feel the same as last time though - tender and crampy of stomach. Clear CM. Tired.
