Has anyone researching their family tree found they are related to anyone (in)famous?? Apparently I'm related to fletcher Christian who started the mutiny on the bounty-family reckon it explains a lot hehe.

PinkFondantFancy · 21/10/2010 07:55

Sorry dachs :( fingers crossed for you the 50% goes the right way for you.

Also big hugs for chocs, sorry for your loss :( I hope your day goes easier than expected today. Is it cheaper to fly into somewhere like Scotland or Manchester and get the train? I guess it's a lot more hassle though :(

boo I'm sorry for missing you off yest! I was having the same conversation with DH at the weekend-I feel like we've opened pandora's box and we'll never not be ttc ever again... Hehe pandora's box, that's what the boys at school used to call fanjos Grin. also asking if you could borrow a rubber was hilarious as you were clearly asking to borrow a condom hahaha.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 21/10/2010 07:20

choccybick so sorry to hear about your loss. Thinking of you x

and dachs sorry about your dog - I've been there recently as you know and it's horrid. Sounds like he's still in with a chance though so will keep my fx for some good news x

nickster sorry you're feeling rough lovely

ladybee I got into researching my family tree while on mat leave after DD, sounds sad but I found it really interesting. My dad's cousin in Australia was doing the same thing so we joined forces over the Internet and actually got quite far with it (back to 1300s on some lines although it's all a lot of guesswork at that point). It is amazing the number of children people had, I was also pleasantly surprised to see quite a few women still having children into their 40s quite a while ago - I had assumed that it would all have been done much younger. The sad thing was looking at the number if children who survived in those days because of childhood illnesses/nutrition etc - I think my gg-grandma had 11 children of whom only 2 lived into adulthood. It did throw up some interesting characters though - let us know how you get on

loola - that does sound promising! When are you due to POAS?

nickstermum · 21/10/2010 06:58

choc you are in my thoughts lovelyxx

wonbo hope your rewsab better than the effort made by the nurse yest for me! Go to doc x

Feelin crap today already, dh (also commonly known as dick head) has given me and ds his fucking bloody man flu!!

nickstermum · 21/10/2010 06:52

Loola snappiness can be mistaken for pg hormone and implanting too y'know!! Test test fx crossed;)

Strong willed and opinionated huh? FAB good to see them exerting themselves already! My ds is quite shy at school and likes to play with the girls which am glad about as there are a couple of boys with behavioural probs! Ie hitting etc! But he loves it, as long as his favourite toys are still trains and not dolls!!

Fondants get fertling! With early pant snot does that mean swimmers will survive in it longer? SWIM re the grapefruit effect? bonkers huh, shame it tastes rank!

Lady glad u feel like spending money on the grand plan!! Me too;)

PrettyMyraMains · 21/10/2010 06:13

PrettyMyraMains · 21/10/2010 00:23

Awwww Dachs that's not the best news , 50/50 chance though?
Maybe more tests will make things clearer.
Fingers crossed for you.
Can they do anything for him?
Squeezes for you and give him a tickle behind the ears from me xx

Wombat33 · 21/10/2010 00:18

Dachs ;( ;( ;(

Big squeeze for you lovely xxx

HeadlessLadyBoo · 20/10/2010 22:27

Hi all

knitter good to see you m'dear, I had a feeling you were out there somewhere lurkily lurking. I used to be on the buses, they definitely help the time go by don't they Smile Sorry it didn't work out this time.

hmmm, tigger you could do a hollowed out pumpkin, then do a roast pumpkin risotto and serve it in the pumpkin shell? I saw quite a nice dessert which was apples fried in butter, with a butterscotch dipping sauce, it looked yummy and is a bit like a toffeeapple and bobbing for apples in dessert form Grin, or a pea soup in a suitably cauldron-ish dish could look quite gruesome. Oh just saw your ideas, that sounds delicious.

AandRmum I saw that show being advertised. I couldn't quite get my head around what would be shown there though...do you think you'll go?

oh cariboof, that made me well up, it did. I'm so pleased for you (and just a weensy bit Envy too, of course) - really hope it continues to go smoothly for next 30 weeks. Keep in touch sweetpea.

waves to owlshoes & preetylongvacation

Izzy yeah, I do what owly does re the cbfm test sticks. Also try not to panic shag on the first high. Although my strategy (as I think I've mentioned...sorry) is to get an early SWI in and then just go for every other day or every third unless we get a peak then try to do both peak days. Otherwise it just gets too much for DH - he starts feeling the pressure and it all goes pear shaped.

velvet wow! you guys must have done some great work! congratulations and well done Grin I hoped you smacked the twat at work around the chops with a lesson plan folder. What on earth was he thinking? Plainly not.
At all. Sorry about the mental milestones, I'm right there with you, I had calculated my mat leave and have it still in my head that I'm not supposed to be working now. Or go back after Christmas. I find it incredibly depressing to now I have to work now at the very least until halfway through next year. And I like my job Smile.

Loola 'very strong willed' hahahahahaha. ahhhhhhh. My DS isn't at nursery yet, but his childminder variously reports to me that 'he is becoming more sure of his opinions'.

So, ladies, I'm moving into this next cycle with an optimistic throwing of money at this problem, I've been on a free FertilityFriend membership so far but am contemplating going up to VIP (surely that has to help). Not sure how the referral thing works but if anyone wants to refer me then send me a link to your chart using the message poster thing and I'll give it a go.

My DH has gotten interested in family trees, genealogy etc - and has persuaded me to start looking up mine. It's kind of nerdy, but fascinating especially when you get to the generations pre-birth control. It's incredible, these women start having children at about 25 and seem to just go on having them, normally 1 every 2 years. I can't quite work out how I feel when I discover them, something a bit like pity and envy combined.
Not just that they didn't have problems conceiving, but that you can bet they didn't time having sex, count the days, etc etc. Do you think once you've gone down the 'trying' route, you can ever back off and just not bother counting, really? I think I'd always be aware of what's going on, on some level and wouldn't be able to stop myself from trying on those days and being disappointed each month.
Enough musing.

Dachs, just saw your post. I'm really sorry to hear about your pup.

DachshundsRule · 20/10/2010 22:20

sorry for a short post, bit upset. Vet thinks dog is >50% likely to have cancer, which looks like it might already have spread to his lymph nodes. Bit miserable

MummyAbroad · 20/10/2010 22:01

hello! cant keep up with you all!! slow down! wait for me!!

caribou Love you news!!! want to give you and your bean a big squeeze!! Smile

xxxxxxxxxxx

AandRMum · 20/10/2010 21:39

Hi all - I can now officially join the list! Having moaned about non-arrival of af it is here with vengeance! I am a Mac user and so am nervous of touching the list and doing horrendous things to it. Could someone add me next time they are updating?!?!

AandRMum TTC 3 Cycle 1 CD1 UCL29

Wonderful that you saw happy waving bean Caribou - something to aspire to!!! [hsmile]

Izzy nothing better than proud parents - I am sure the reason I am such a confident person (you can tell I'm an Aussie!) [hgrin] is because my DDad spent his life telling everyone how brilliant we all were and how we could do anything - by the time I was old enough to question his judgement the basic idea seemed to have stuck!

velvet I intend to enjoy the upside of af as well with a few drinks. Congrats on surviving OFSTED.

wombat33 how horrible to have to reswab - I hate inconclusive tests. With the amount of time fiddling around in there you think they could get some decent out!! nix sounds like you got the royal treatment - opening with scissors - ouch!!! Good luck with the painting - my least favourite job ever. Always end up with more paint on me than on any wall.

PinkFondantFancy · 20/10/2010 21:28

Evening all! Get only just leaving work again and got evils from the others for leaving so 'early' - little do they know that if all had gone to plan I would have shortly been leaving on mat leave and dropping them thoroughly in the shite so I don't feel too guilty!!

+caribo* fab news about the scan! Get your arse into the grads thread!! Although still come here and let us know how you're getting on!

womby sorry about the inconclusive tests, hope fri's will be more successful!

Hello mrs pretty!! glad hands are on the mend!

Good work on the inspections velvet, must be a huge relief-enjoy your wine, you've earned it!! Grrr about the arse at work, how arrogant are some people?? Having reproduced doesn't make him superior, he just got lucky. Idiot. Sorry about would be maternity leave imminence :( mine would have been chrimbo so know exactly how you feel.

nicks thought of you today as I drunk about 1/2 litre of grapefruit juice!! Now tell me, why do I have cramping and pant snot on cd9???? V disturbing-WTF does it mean? The more I try to understand my cycle the more perplexing it becomes!! I hope dr left some cervix behind.... Def agree about women being worse, and I think nurses are worse then drs in my experience. Btw I dont think moving bed is crazy at all, and sleeping better has to help this process too!!

tigger salmon sounds fab. How about mulled wine???? Surely not too early in the year is it??

izzy grrr at the mum at the gate. I am so impressed at your restraint as I definitely would have told her to count her blessings and that I'd gladly swap the inconvenience and then tell her all my gory details until she looked like she wished the ground would open up.

Welcome back owly how are you doing? Also hello again to knitter and jammy

How are your pooches doing today dachs?

How was the holiday +aandr*? you didn't seem to be gone long??

Yay for the negative mousey, hope spotting buggers off soon.

Waves to izz, apples, mummya and everyone else I've probably missed!!

loola2shu · 20/10/2010 21:26

Brilliant news Caribou! Aww it makes you all warm and gooey!

Velvet well done re Ofsted! Get the vino out!

Izzy loving the proud mammy emotions! I had ds meeting last week (reception) and they said he's 'very strong willed' Confused Blush

Nickster Whoop for nursery award!

OPK getting stronger, not risking my last HPT just yet... however my 'snappyness' suggests af round the corner!

nickstermum · 20/10/2010 21:08

Well sort of........

nickstermum · 20/10/2010 21:06

Love keV!

But entranced by apprentice' I too have kinda worked out my phone ;)

Jamface · 20/10/2010 20:36

Just stopping by to say hello. Have a fancy new phone that I can finally keep a tab on you guys with! Smile that's such good news caribou, hooray! Am sitting waiting for pizza to cook wondering whether to watch apprentice or grand designs. No brainer really, will record mr mccloud and be thoroughly entertained by the clowns on apprentice! On day 7 so it's the lull before the storm of some serious swi. Haven't been round for a few days so sorry to not namecheck more but hello to all x

Wombat33 · 20/10/2010 20:21

Woop!! For ofsted reports, happy scans, nursery prizes and such like!!! Well done girlies [hgrin][hgrin] and Christmas cake baking too - yummy [henvy]

I got an email from the doc this aft saying my swab results were 'inconclusive' and need to be repeated [hhmm] So another appointment on Friday now.

Hope painting and dog's surgery went okay!!

nickstermum · 20/10/2010 19:59

Hmm never did Glasto but I was scarred for life by the V toilets!!!

I did however enjoy the norty treats and wot not had by all, mooching round fields, pulling silly faces wearing ridiculous hats, and pretending to be a toadstool or something equally as random!

Izz, awesome school reports btw ;) x very proud Izzmonster.

Off now to go kil the cat who keeps wripping up the carpet

PrettyMyraMains · 20/10/2010 19:47

Ah, Izzy I miss Glasto [hsad]
Those were the days, falling out of our tent, having a warm can of lager and other norty treats. [hblush]
Wandering up to the cider tent and having a cider bomb with apple brandy.
That really wakes you up first thing!
Yey for your clever, delightful minibizzies.

Well done on the ofsted Velvet
You deserve the bottle.
[hangry] bout work twat, cunt him in the bastard I say! [hgrin]

nickstermum · 20/10/2010 19:43

Crossed posts Izz shameless boasting indeed...carry on :)

Shall i add?

DS got an award at nursery yesterday [hgrin] [hgrin] [hgrin] [hgrin]

Ha ha

Anyone taking royal jelly? forgot about that one. how often, whole cycle? pls SPILL!x

nickstermum · 20/10/2010 19:40

prittyremains my cervix...blinkin well sounded like it anyway just taking a swab thingy but it sounded (and felt) like scissors! T'was a woman and i find they are always more rough than the fellas! Not pleasant having your fanjo hanging out for all to see [hhmm]

Prits i think you are pritty funny too [hgrin]

velvet how about finding some really smart cynical derogatory comeback about .....i dunno

"oi you sad twat dont you have a TV in your house mate rather than being at it like rabbits all the time" Hmm

I know i think am funny, and i probably arent.... but i am clearly just the clown and here for your amusal!!

Sorry your due date is round the corner. [hsad] we've all got those milestones looming [hsad]

On a plus Mr Nix is summoning me to the boudoir.... if only.....not for any kind of fornication sadly, just more bloody fucking painting... god why did i ever start this?! hopes!!
