IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 23/10/2010 11:43

Apples ((((hugs)))) sorry you haven't been given an earlier date. Keep pestering the mw and maybe try ringing GP again direct, or as moo says, EPU. If all else fails, could you afford to pay for one? I paid just under £100 for a dating scan which they will do any time from about 7 and a half weeks. It's annoying when you've been promised one on the NHS but sometimes worth it just for the peace of mind.

Hope you manage to get some reassurance soon x

nickstermum · 23/10/2010 11:35

Apples. Push your gp, and your epu, there is no reason that you shouldn't be allowed an earlier scan having mc before! Sorry you are feeling down hon, try not to get stressed! Forget about that scan date it's too far away! Am sure they will get you in before then ;)

I on the other hand cd35 gearing up for nasty Af and grumpy with it :( but lovin ds for giving me a lie in til quarter to nine;)

appleblossoms · 23/10/2010 11:30

Thanks moo...my GP said I could have an early scan, and wrote in the referral letter to the hospital to request that I had one at 8 week...so had mentally prepared that I just had to get to 8 weeks, and then just get to 12 weeks, and now it's this big open stretch where I just don't trust anything my body's doing....

CaribouMoo · 23/10/2010 11:24

Apple the early weeks are horrendous and you need all the support you can get from the NHS. I've been lucky that my GP arranged early scans for me. This time round the EPU at the hospital arranged it directly - can you maybe call yours? You're right, early scans give no guarantees but its not fair to expect you to wait so long not knowing if all is well. It puts too much strain on you.

Hope you get something sorted x

appleblossoms · 23/10/2010 10:59

Sorry for the mememe post but i need a hug Sad It's silly really, just got my scan date through the post and it's not till the end of November, when I'll be about 10/11 weeks - same time I found out about my mmc last time even though the baby died at 5/6 weeks - the stage I'm at right now. Just been sobbing on the phone to my mum...I know an early scan wouldn't be any guarentee, but it would at least limit the time I would have to think I was still pregnant when I wasn't if it all went wrong, does that make sense?

I called the midwife and left a message, so hopefully she'll call back on monday, although she still hasn't called back from last friday. If I don't hear from her I guess I'll call the GP. Just feel really scared and emotional today.

sorry for the moan, promise to namecheck later in a happier and more rational mood! Grin

Best thing about being a woman - men would never be able to have a group of fab woman to talk to like this!

DachshundsRule · 22/10/2010 19:57

izzy thanks (for the wine and liking the dog's name)! although not our choice - he was called that when we got him and already responding to it so we kept it. it suits him :) when we got another one three years later we called her Ellie as we thought it matched well with Eric :)

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 22/10/2010 19:53

forgot to say, I love the name Eric. There's always something slightly fab about dogs with human names!

PinkFondantFancy · 22/10/2010 19:53

Hello all! Grin about evil shag dictator! Reckon i am going to stick with every other day except maybe every day at weekend otherwise ill break dh a week too soon like last month!!

dachs sorry about dilemma, that's a v tough decision to make. Maybe try the anti biotics for a week just in case that's all it is then choose between the other two later?

owl gutted about boots. They are v expensive and also frustratingly difficult to get nice ones that fit, especially if knee high.

nicks everything crossed for you for implantation, as you say, you did get ov symptoms 5 times this month so you could have sneaked out a cheeky egg without realising. Good thing about being a girl is going shopping and for lunch with other girls :)

izz the fc I'm going to next month is the Argc in London, I referred myself and got an appt. I found out about it through a colleague at work who's wife had 3 mc and went round several shite clinics first. Big up respect for your once per day swi!!

hairy fab news!!

apple sorry no idea about hiring camper, I just assumed we could but frankly if we can't I think I might have struck upon my genius work from home business idea!! I agree dowe egberts is nice decaf. Apparently taylors is decaffeinated using a less evil chemical than anything else but haven't tried it. I had a peppermint tea today, it was actually nice!!

mamap are you off on hols now? Have an amazing time!!

inbetweener have fun shopping tomorrow!

mummya which episode did you watch? I recommend the caravan club one, and the one where they go to visit simon's girlfriend's sister at Warwick uni hahaha

I have been such a pig bin today-I ate my own body weight in strawberry an orange cream quality streets, then washed it down with a high lump of chocolate cake mmmmmmmmmm

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 22/10/2010 19:51

dachs - don't be ashamed or guilty about saying you couldn't cope with it, I couldn't either and I loved ours (Simon) to bits. We had endless rows (dh felt we should just plod on) and I was in tears over it so many times. And I know he couldn't help it but the awful thing was that I almost started to resent it Sad. As it happened, he deteriorated very rapidly and so we never had to really think about long-term management but i'm just not sure I could have done it [guilt emoticon]

However you are not there yet - the antibiotics may well work or if not the second opinion might give you some more information or options or (if it's a specialist) might at least give him better odds of not being incontinent. Fx for all of the above - will be thinking of you x

DachshundsRule · 22/10/2010 19:48

my gosh that went quickly! can i have another one please? ;)

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 22/10/2010 19:46

Ah - xposts - I see your vet pretty much agrees with me. A second opinion sounds a good idea too

DachshundsRule · 22/10/2010 19:45

thanks izzy

if it weren't for the incontinence thing I'd go for the op, but i KNOW i couldn't cope with an incontinent dog and i'd be terrified if i did get pg

and that makes me feel really bad, because i love Eric dearly and i don't want him to suffer but then i know deep down that i couldn't handle it if that happened

FX the antibs work and then the decision won't need to be made!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 22/10/2010 19:42

Oh dachs I am so sorry you haven't been able to get any definite answers and are left with such a tough decision. I really don't know what would be best. Is it worth a try at the antibiotics first just in case that's all it is before you have to make any drastic decisions? Might be worth a shot...

Apart from that, I don't know. However I can say from experience that it is no fun having an incontinent dog, it is really really hard work. Ours was like this towards the end and it is so difficult. I'm not going to go on about it because that's not what you want to hear, but I was pg at the time and really frightened about the hygiene aspect around DCs and the new baby. I'm not sure how well we'd have coped had the baby made it. I'm not saying don't take the operation route - which as you say might be your best option - but I would be tempted to try antibiotics first to see if it can be avoided and have a good discussion with the vet and your dh/dp about how you could manage the outcome if he had the op and was incontinent (still a chance he wouldn't be though).

I really feel for you, it's awful when they're poorly and it's a really tough decision you've got. Sad. Let us know if there's anything we can do or anything you want to ask, or if you just need a rant. ((((hugs)))) x

DachshundsRule · 22/10/2010 19:38

thanks yrmotb

nicks the vet (sitting on the fence a bit) recommended taking the antibiotics and referring the dog to specialist for a second opinion as the vet isn't specialised enough to do the surgery anyway.

seemed like a reasonable idea to at least start the dog on antibiotics and see what happens while we're waiting for a referral or making up our minds about the other options on offer

on a more positive note i has a word with HR at work about whether they had a policy on time off for IVF. They didn't. They do now! I can have up to 5 days paid leave in total (for ever, not per cycle) so I don't need to take holiday. Boss not happy... ;)
