A comfy little corner for those who need company in the post mc ttc journey!

To POAS or not to POAS? That is the question!

All welcome Smile

Funnily enough I looked that up on Dr Google yesterday. Yeah, I have nothing better to do in my life than become a bloody expert on TTC. Anyhoo - the answer is: yes, but there is no way you'll be able to tell if you're up-duffed by prodding it (damn! damn!)

nickstermum · 24/10/2010 20:31

Question for you.... Does your cervix change in the event of a conception?

Just wondering

appleblossoms · 24/10/2010 19:23

PFF teeheehee [hgrin] DTD with other boys! and here's hoping for a couple more rising in temps....followed by a lovely BFP in two weeks!

Oh choccy sending you big hugs. Sorry you've been so poorly [hsad] Hope you're feeling a little better now, being sick is never fun. I always say I'd much rather have real proper flu for two weeks than have two days of being sick. Tis the worst illness I think!

inbetweener don't worry too much about your weight, weight does play a slight factor of course it does, but so does stress! so there's no point losing one and gaining another if you see what I mean. and I thought they were scrapping BMI's for working out obesity? All rugby players are clinically obese due to their size and muscle!

nicks another poorly one [hsad] sounds like we need to start passing round some vitamin c rather than chocolate!

mummya I get loads of emails about free viagra, shall I forward them to you?! [hwink] teehee. Sorry for being forgetful, but were you going to see another consultant soon to try and get some more answers? any idea when that will be?

My lovely LOVELY midwife called today to set a date for my booking in, 4th Nov, AND she said when she was with me she'll call the EPU and tell them I need to have a scan in the next couple of days, so hopefully 5th/6th Nov when I'll be about 8 weeks so perfect [hgrin] she said she would manipulate the facts to make sure I get one. She's so lovely. So feeling much chirpier this evening.

Hope you're all settling down for lovely evenings. Thanks for letting me moan yesterday.

PinkFondantFancy · 24/10/2010 15:10

Hehe ooops just read my last sentence - it reads back in a very disturbing way about DTD with other boys [hblush]!! Oh dear, you all know what I mean (hopefully!!!)

PinkFondantFancy · 24/10/2010 15:08

Hello all!

nicks remind me on what to do with grapefruit vs. pineapple juice - grapefruit before ov., pineapple after? Apparently the following contain calcium: Almonds, parsley, corn tortillas, globe artichokes, prunes, pumpkin seeds, beans, cabbage, leafy green vegetables. Not sure how you go about convincing a little one to eat much of that stuff though!! Maybe some kind of flapjack with almonds and prunes? Hmm Is your DS dairy intolerant? Sorry you're feeling grim, I hope you're tucked up in bed with some hot lemon juice and some junk TV!

inbetweener nice one on the 3 days in a row!!! V. impressed! Hehehe my DH has a new rule that we can DTD every other day except if the monitor gives a peak then we can go to every day so he doesn't get worn out Grin - we definitely peaked too soon last month and ended up having to have a week off just at the critical time, d-oh! Sorry, no idea about the weight thing although I think that BMI is a bit approximate as it doesn't take muscle or your frame size into account. One of my expanding library of books on the topic reckons being either over or underweight will make it harder to conceive, but it then goes on to say that you've got to avoid stress - can't see that losing weight and avoiding stress really go hand in hand!!

chocs sorry you've been ill, you've really had a horrible for weeks you poor girl [hsad]. Have you had a holiday yet this year? I reckon you really deserve one. I hope you're done with driving the porcelain bus now and on the mend.

My temp had a jump today, fertility friend says that it needs three high temps in a row to confirm ovulation so I'll just have to wait and see what's going on! I have to say, this temping and CBFM combo is cool - helps me feel like I'm doing something scientific rather than completely random and hopefully will help me time a safe time to leave poor DH alone!

I feel a bit sorry for the DH/DP's out there - we've got mumsnet to talk to like-minded people about this, but they've got no support network! Hehehe although what are the chances of them discussing their sore bits and their DP's demanding they DTD with other boys anyway?? [hgrin]

Right I am off for a nice long decadent afternoon nap, yum!

Choccybick · 24/10/2010 12:57

Hi everyone
I wasn´t in for a few days. Spent Thursday/Friday chucking up and talking to the man in the big white telephone so have been resting up.

Had enough yesterday so went to the hairdressers last night for a wee pamper. Missed the start of xf so cannot agree with Nicks if Rebecca did look like a tranny... Grin

Todays agenda:
sex ironing (no point in former. its too late and I feel knackered, despite sleeping until lunchtime)

Will come back later on.
hugs to everone
sorry for no name checking - need to read over last days in detail.

inbetweener · 24/10/2010 09:51

oh actually I just did my BMI and im almost obese apparently................bloody hell.

inbetweener · 24/10/2010 09:50

morning all,

Well its cd15 for me today and we have dtd the last 3 nights in a row. OH thinks its xmas Grin.
He is in bed now as we didnt get to sleep till 2am Blush he was gonna get up for the grand prix but I guess not lol

I am utterly moody today though.I have got myself in a right state over my weight. I reckon I need to lose around 2 and a half stone as I just really feel fat lately. I was three stone lighter when I concieved dd2 so im now wondering if me being a total lardarse is what the problem is...sigh. So im gonna start dieting properly from today. It will give me sometihng to ocus on other then POAS lol !!!!

Is this a good idea ?? Could my weight gain be a problem ? Dont get me wrong im not obese but im no slim person like I was 6 years ago sobsob..

nickstermum · 24/10/2010 06:20

Hey fondant, glad you feeling better about it all lovely girl! Tbh sounds like you don't have much dairy at all anyway! I wouldn't be too concerned with that amount! Find other sources of calcium? I am forever looking fir other sources for ds so will email you what I found ;)

Urgh, 6 am Sunday morning and I am awake with the full blown lurgy [hconfused] huddled by the fire trying To get warm :(

PinkFondantFancy · 23/10/2010 23:35

Hello all, thanks so much for all your help on dairy stuff! I checked out the soya at the supermarket today and have given it a miss - you're right that it's loaded with sugar and glucose etc. and also a load of random stabiliser chemicals so I've decided to stick with the non-fat organic natural yogurt. TBH I have a yogurt for brekkie each morning, and then the only other dairy I really have is in decaf lattes which I've decided to give up to a) save money and b) cut out the chemicals that they apparently use to decaffinate the coffee with. Also I'm going to cut down on wheat and sugar but not go crazy. Don't think she's a nutritionist, just following chinese medicine principles I think - she's going to send me an e-mail with info in a few days, but agree with you all that getting enough calcium is v. important too. Will give you a shout when she sends the info over in case there's anything of interest

owly halloumi cheese and dark chocolate are ok??! That is officially my beautiful thought of the day Grin Halloumi cheese is soooo nice! How do you make rosehip syrup? Mr F-W is a genius so I'm sure it will work! I am very impressed, very domestic goddess of you!!

nicks I'm feeling ok, you were right about feeling pissed though!! Felt like I was off my face walking home, and then after lunch had to go and sleep it off!!! It was really odd while I had the needles in - bits of me were tingling that didn't have any needles in them! And I couldn't feel some of them but a couple of them had a really strong kind of 'pulling' feeling, especially when she manipulated them. Keen to give it a try for a couple of months though and see if I feel any better - hadn't realised how run down I felt until I filled out their health questionnaire. Also had a proper feeling sorry for myself moment when I filled in the section: number of pregnancies: 1, number of miscarriages: 1, number of live births: 0...... Ho hum, hopefully will be improving those statistics before too long!! Oh also, I have got more info about dairy and detoxing to improve pregnancy success rates from 'Is your body baby friendly?' - will type some of it in here tomorrow when I get a chance. Also Patrick Holford says the same thing re. wheat, sugar, dairy but I was ignoring him up until now because was following the head in sand approach!

Hey liz the rainbow sounds amazing! Feel free to join in as and when you fancy - we all dip in and out depending on how much other stuff is going on! I've found these girlies a huge support and they are all very knowledgeable.

Hope you are all having a lovely evening and a nice chilled out weekend xx

nickstermum · 23/10/2010 22:13

Dear dear dear........ What on earth is xf all about tonight? Rebecca looks like a tranny !

MummyAbroad · 23/10/2010 20:01

Thanks Nix!! Grin I had seen viagra bandied about as a treatement option for thin womb lining, but thats a great story showing its succesful use. I will ask my doc about it.

nickstermum · 23/10/2010 19:41

fondant if you are thinking of detoxing i would second what Owls said, Is your acupuncturist a qualified nutritionist to advise on diet, and would query why she has suggested change?

It may be that you feel quite strange after it as its the first time? Hope you feeling better now toots xx

AandRMum · 23/10/2010 19:40

x-post Nix glad you found something documented!

AandRMum · 23/10/2010 19:37

Sorry that was written in haste ... I would guess that the cows were on a pure Soya diet and I would gather a small amount in your diet is most probably a good thing as they are high in protein etc. As always I guess it is all about moderation.

nickstermum · 23/10/2010 19:31

here you go fondant

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4115506.stm

link to bbc research in 05 about fertility and soya

well done A&R!

Hey apples, yes i POAS today and of course bfn! shouldnt expect anything less. If i havent got AF by day 42 i will poas again. I will try and abstain til then :)

Glad DH is prepared to splash his cash, and for the best reasonx xxxxx

AandRMum · 23/10/2010 19:21

PFF just a very quick note re soya products ... my Dsis who researched and tried everything during her 2 year wait for her first DD (now pregnant with second DC at 42) was strongly advised to stay off soya products as it was found that farmers who had changed their cows onto soya products (because they were cheap) found their cows' fertility rate plummet and had to change back to normal feed. I have not seen the study but she is convinced it was a key factor for her! Who knows?

Lizhappyfeet · 23/10/2010 18:08

Hey all, I can't normally follow this properly to be involved as too fast for me, but I wanted to un-lurk to share a happy thought of the day. It had just stopped raining this afternoon and there was a huge rainbow with really vivid colours that made me smile

appleblossoms · 23/10/2010 15:13

oops, {hblush] didn't read your post properly PFF, that's rubbish on the detox...we'll have to club together and find suitable naughty feeling 'good for you' food...there must be some out there?

appleblossoms · 23/10/2010 15:09

Oh my lovely MN lot, how very special you are! Grin

Feeling better now, had a chat with DH..he pointed out that it might be that the 12 week one was processed more quickly and that an 8 week one will appear in the post on monday...if not, and if they won't do one he said he would willingly spend £500 to make me happier and more relaxed! bless him! So Izz £100 would be worth it I reckon! So, going to wait and see what happens next week and take it from there.

Right.. >

PFF I watched that too...blubbed! Rabbit food? That's not what you need.... phish food! Now that's more like it! [hgrin]

Mamap hope you have a good time in Oz, enjoy!!

mummya Have a good time at the zoo, what a lovely way to spend a saturday.

nicks I'm a football widow today, DH has gone off to watch the local footie team with his mates... let's join up and let the DS's play together whilst we watch a suitably girlie chic flick! Have you POAS yet?? might be something more exciting than AF round the corner.

DS has just woken so time to find something exciting to do with the afternoon...... chugginton?! [hwink]

nickstermum · 23/10/2010 15:00

Hey fondant! Don't be disillusioned by it hon. Says in tcoyf about dairy products. Tbh that IMHO is more the alternative route, detox yourself and clear out toxins. Sadly sugar is seen as one. I tend to steer clear of cows milk and dairy as well as sugar and excess yeast as they aggravate Ibs - do you have allergies or intolerances or has she suggested that for conception? I would be interested to know why. I know cows milk is inflammatory tho. There are lots of alternatives! Ds drinks goats milk by the gallon, it's just expensive, soy products now you can't taste any difference the only thing is with some of the soy milks they are sweetened so beats the object really!!

Having said all that I know several people who have detox and conceived at the drop of a hat, but whose to say they wouldn't have anyway??!

Sorry it made you feel wierd! That said it will be probably much better second time round!!

owlshoes · 23/10/2010 14:57

PFF nice things that are not full of cows milk:

Total greek yoghurt, halloumi cheese, goat's chesse, dark chocolate. Grin

Having said that, I'm not convinced by any of this avoiding certain foods lark; surely it's more important that you get sufficient calcium? Is she actually a quaified dietician? If so, fair enough. If not; hmm.

I've just been out and picked a kilo of rosehips; I'm going to make rosehip syrup. No idea if this will be edible but Hugh FW seems to think it is, so I'm prepared to give it a bash. :)

apples obviously you have to do what feels right for you but I think I'd be getting a scan at 8 weeks next time around unless I was throwing my guts up in which case I'd probably feel confident enough to wait.

nicks I am a windsurfing widow today but at least it means I get the house to myself!

PinkFondantFancy · 23/10/2010 14:17

Hello all! apples I'd pay for a private scan to avoid the stress of fighting with your gp.

I just had acupuncture-it was really weird! Feel v odd now! Got to go back next week, she reckons she's working on my general wellbeing for a bit so we'll see if it does anything. In bad news tho she says I need to lay off the sugar and cows milk dairy products! Aghghghghghgh! So going to switch to soya yog if I can find any that look half decent, and ditching the sugar would help me lose some weight so all good I guess. To be honest it's made me a bit depressed, millions of people all over the world get pregnant while smoking drinking taking drugs and eating shite, while I'm paying £60 a week to get stabbed with needles and drinking soya milk...

So to cheer myself up I watched scrubs, which left me a sobbing mess on the sofa because it was the episode Carla finds out she's pregnant :( aghghgh FFS this is shit. (scuse the language but frankly the only word for it).

Anyway I'm gonna take my whingy arse to the supermarket to buy some very unexciting rabbit food.....

MummyAbroad · 23/10/2010 13:58

hello ladies

Hairy - great scan news!! Smile Smile

dachs v sad news about your doggie. Hope the antibiotics option works xxx

Apple- thats really crap about your scan date, was it a mistake? Did they give a reason? I would see if you can find out how much going private costs in your area so at least you can consider it as a back up option. I think waiting till 10 weeks would just be agonising for you

inbetweener just watched the caravan one! Excellent!!

mamap enjoy your hols!

Right, I am off to the zoo with DH and DS Smile
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, big hugs to those who need them xxxxxxx
