That sounds really lame!! I pressed post without thinking! What I mean is, does it matter if I get up and about first, or should it be the first thing you do? Noticing sone fluctuations now on cd 7 so must be doing something right! Starting with gf juice in a day or two!

Have decided to not obsess, yeah right, and to be not bothered, then ds made those brother comments, which put me under pressure again Grin

MummyAbroad · 01/11/2010 13:43

Hi Nix, Yes, it is important. It should be the first thing you do after opening your eyes while you are still lying down, try to make as little movement as possible, literally open your eyes, reach over and pop the themometer in. I niavely tried to do what the TCOYF recommends and get DH to lovingly put in it my mouth for me - err he wasnt very good at it, he either overslept and needed me to shake him awake or nearly had my eye out cos his sleepy aim for my mouth wasnt very good Confused, so we gave that idea up pretty quickly!!

Moving around raises your body temperature, so you will get lots of "false" high readings and it will make your chart difficult to read.

A big hug for you inbetweener, that rollercoaster of hope/disappointment is horrible, hope you are not on it for too long. xxx

skeletalnix · 01/11/2010 13:32

Can I please have some temping advice? I do it lying down, first thing I do when I wake up, are you supposed to do that or doesn't it really matter?

inbetweener · 01/11/2010 13:31

Afternoon all,

mummya awww at your pirate lol.
kat hmmm grapefruit juice, i will give it a go.
Everyone else hello and hope we are all bearing up.

I am a proper moaner today. I just feel really, really negative and I know its my fault cos i did that stupid test on saturday and it was a BFN.

I am on CD23 today so what did I do on my way to work, oh yeah thats right I did another test and it was BFN. So now, im snappy and moany and feeling utterly sorry for myself.

I know I cant rule myself out untill AF arrives but mentally I think I have now. My only glimmer of hope is that I am still testing too early. I have no symptoms either way, I feel normal. Just annoyed.

Someone slap me now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

owlshoes · 01/11/2010 13:31

It was 3 weeks after the bleeding stopped for me, digi so about 5 weeks from date of mc - and v.sorry to see you back in here, hope you're okay my lovely. ((large squishy hug))

I'm going to track down some grapefruit juice tonight. Not going to tell Mr Shoes what it's for, though, as he will think I am mental. He would probably be right as well Grin

AandRMum · 01/11/2010 13:07

Digi mine was exactly 5 weeks after ERPC and 21 days from last bleed.

Am in lurking mode at the mo. We are at the SWIing stage but sort of pretending we aren't. We are in the midst of trying to get planning permission to build our house and I am trying to find work (found out my assignment was finishing up in the same week as mc Grin.) .... it seems a bit much to add to the pressure about SWIing.

Nix Kat I drink huge amounts of grapefruit juice just because I am odd and actually really love it .... this thread has explained a lot for me!!!
MummyA your little pirate sounds adorable. I have just learnt how to make a tutu (incredibly easy) and so I have two princesses running arouns ... feeling very crafty!

RunForTheHills · 01/11/2010 12:51

Hi thanks for welcome back.
So you don't think I'm totally bonkers, I only had a 6 month break from TTC, as we planned a rather fabby (pregnancy unfriendly) holiday that have just returned from :)
Back to being sensible & 'bean' friendly now

skeletalnix · 01/11/2010 12:28

Digi I mc aug 10th, got bfn on 31st aug, Af arrived sept 20th and boy didn't I know about it. 5 weeks ish from day of finding out!

Jamface · 01/11/2010 11:20

Hi digi it took me 6 weeks, both times. Good luck tomorrow x

digitalgirl · 01/11/2010 10:55

kat I thought I had a good aim, but clearly you are a master Wink

Just to add my tuppence worth to the opk chat: when I did them I would get two days of positives, which I could catch quite late in the day (7/8pm). But my cervix would stay wide open and EWCM would continue for another 2-3 days after that which suggests that I wasn't ovulating immediately after the surge.
In fact the four times I've had a BFP I've not done OPKs and relied on other methods (charting temps or ewcm). I wonder if it's because we keep going till I've definitely ovulated.

So not going to bother with them this time.

I am however going to order a shedload of cheap hpts after my appointment at the epu tomorrow. I ordered 20, wasted 12 on non-pregnant cycles and did 8 of them with the bfp just gone, just to watch the line get darker (didn't make any difference to the outcome) which provided a few moments of reassurance. Desperately want to be PG again, but already know that it will be an incredibly stressful time if I do. It's quite nice not worrying about anything at the moment.

Can I do a quick poll and ask how long it took everyone to get their AF after their last MC? (I know you're still waiting for yours mummyabroad so you can sit this one out!)

GetDownYouWillFall · 01/11/2010 09:45

thanks so much for that link MummyAbroad I've seen that site, but not actually read those pages before.

Very useful information, thank you

Hope you are all doing ok x

Jamface · 01/11/2010 09:42

Hi PFF, it probably depends on what OPK sticks you have but mine tell me to not use early morning pee as the LH is produced in your body in the morning for a few hours after you've got up. I test around midday and then again at 7.30pm. When I got a pos OPK this month it didn't show up on the midday one, but did in the eve and then was gone again by the next day, so would definitely recommend using twice a day. Mummya's idea of a little screw lid pot is good - pee during the day and then test when you have a chance. For me the OPK, CM watching and cervix checking have allowed me to be pretty sure of what my body is doing when x

owlgiblets · 01/11/2010 09:29

I went for morning and after work (about 6pm) Izzy - was tending to get the peak late in the evening so would see it coming on the 6pm stick then see the proper peak the next morning before it went down again. Twas not a very long peak - without 2 OPKs a day I'd have missed it altogether.

CBFM seems to pick it up though - although I do suspect it's picking up the big morning peak which is actually the surge on the way down hence I've always assumed it's right about the second day of peak being ov day.

skeletalnix · 01/11/2010 09:20

Kat, tampon cover? You must have a precise aim! Ingenius:)

Fondant, get yourself a little peeing pot with a lid, capture it then analyse later? I would agree first thing then 2 pm? Tho I got a pos at 4pm too! I think I will follow advice of pot too, tho not easy to do when in car....... :)

Thanks kat - good advice. It's amazing how resourceful ttc can make you Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 01/11/2010 06:19

PS thanks all for chart help - temp is still going in the right direction today so I am starting to feel confident now about chilling out and stopping mentalling for a couple of weeks.......! [hgrin]

PinkFondantFancy · 01/11/2010 06:16

Hahahahah kat you genius [hsmile] If only maccy d's had any idea of what use people have found for their ketchup pots...... That is definitely my amusing thought of the day. Also, tampon wrapper - that is so ingenious!!!

Good point about CBFM mummya, it does only ask for first wee. Grrrrrrr to the CBFM, how can it eat more than 15 sticks a cycle and still miss the critical day??!? I am starting to think I need to be brave and try out the cervix checking next cycle - sounds like combined with temps it tells you everything you could ever need to know

Have a good day everyone, pinch punch first of the month

MummyAbroad · 01/11/2010 00:56

I'm feeling smug - we just managed an easy peesy last minute Halloween celebration.[hsmile] DS still fitted into last years pirate costume and so we dashed down to a lovely restaurant that has kids play section, they had a witch giving out toffee apples, and prizes for fancy dress. Not bad for a country that doesnt "do" Halloween. Good time had by all and DS's "ooh arrrGgh" pirate impression broke hearts.

Izzy I revved up to two a day when cervix checking seemed to suggest ov was approaching. I did first wee of the morning and 2pm. I would suggest a sample pot with a screw top lid and take it home to test at your leisure. Its not really the weeing or dipping that takes a long time, its the staring at it for ages afterwards pondering the result! You need a nice quiet place for that.[hsmile] So, now I am curious, does CBFM ask for first wee of day? If so, why not the afternoon wee same as OPK's? maybe CMFM has been missing your LH surge as its not been the right time of day??

and the award for Ability To Pee Into The Smallest Containers goes to... Kat!!Grin (I'm really impressed by the tampon wrapper!!!)

[hsmile][hsmile][hsmile]Happy Halloween everyone [hsmile][hsmile][hsmile]

kat2504 · 31/10/2010 22:52

I did twice a day this cycle and it was a bit of a waste of the sticks. I'd only bother with twice on the two or three most likely days according to your recent cycle lengths.
I expect 3.45 is just fine. I did 6am and 4pm and on the actual day, I got a positive at both those times.
If you need to stick-dip in public places I have two tips ;)

  1. The little paper pots supplied in McDonalds that have places for serving yourself with ketchup and mayo. Very useful but they can leak a bit if you are not speedy enough.

  2. The plastic cellophane wrapping of a non-applicator tampon. Holds just enough!

Both of these can be easily disposed of in the sanitary bin next to the toilet. Alternatively you can just keep a sample pot in your bag and wash it at home!

I do think 3.45 would be fine. The advice is to ensure your sample is not too diluted so don't drink masses in the 2 hours beforehand.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 31/10/2010 22:37

mummya fx for you. Hopefully AF will turn up next week. I understand where you're coming from re needing answers but I'm sure it would be reassuring to see some normality returning x

Sounds like we might have a few people POASing over the next few days - am hoping we see some good news soon!

I've got myself some cheapie OPKs from Amazon to try next cycle - plan is to SWI every other day and then try for every day from positive OPK until temp rise. I don't know whether to forget the CBFM completely or carry on for comparison - still cross that it's been lying to me, and I'm another one that's never had a 10-stick cycle so it's getting expensive! But anyway I feel happier with the plan for next month.

To those of you who use OPKs - a couple of questions. I was thinking of doing two per day as don't want to risk missing surge and they were very cheap, but wondering what would be the best time(s) of day if you're doing twice? Also I suspect one of those "best" times is going to be 2pm because I'm sure I've read that somewhere but three days a week I would be at work then and can't see how I'm going to manage the stick-dipping there - any suggestions of how to get round this or would 3.45pm be ok?

Sorry not been around much over last few days, been staying at my parents, but will catch up properly tomorrow.

skeletalnix · 31/10/2010 22:23

Interesting fact for the day/... Just read in tcoyf that ov bleed/spotting can be an indicator of high fertility at that time! Thought I would share that golden nugget of info!! [hgrin]

Sad I know!!

skeletalnix · 31/10/2010 22:03

first 2 weeks kat, it does seem to help cervical fluid somewhat!! I drank concentrate, only cos i bought the wrong stuff, and that worked, but think fresh stuff is much better.

kat2504 · 31/10/2010 22:01

I have read a bit about grapefruit, and might give it a whirl, even though I hate the stuff. Do I need to drink it all month long or will the first two weeks do? Presume it has to be the proper fresh juice and not the cheapo tetra packs?

Jamface · 31/10/2010 20:44

Evening all, hope you're having a good Halloween! [hgrin] wow impressed with the levels of domesticity and baking amongst you lot. I managed an (orange) butternut squash soup for the week.

That month has gone so quickly mummya, really hope your body is kick started into af as planned and good things start happening for you.

Hope you're doing ok during the 2ww cycle buddy pff Smile

And hello to everyone else x
