PCOS and TTC! Anyone want to join with me?

I ladies. I have DD1 (almost 3) and DH and I have begun talking about TTC #2. It took nearly 4 years to conceive DD1 and we finally had success with a course of clomid.

I am now in Canada and have just been referred to a new gynecologist who is apparently the leading expert in PCOS in Canada. So hopefully he will be able to help speed things along. I don't think I could take another 4 year wait.

Does anyone else want to join??

Did swi but been having lots of period like aches but nothing yet...my truely confusing body!!!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 29/11/2010 14:22

fairy just in case you are ovulating, get off MN and get SWI Grin

Fairyontopofthexmastree · 28/11/2010 19:14

fingers crossed for both of us reallygrumpy!!!!

reallygrumpy · 28/11/2010 19:03

Hi fairy I think there's a good chance that you've either ov'd or are about to. On the cycles where i've ov'd it's always been around cd22.

Well I tested again on fri and there was a faint line, so DH and I had a silly argument about whether it was a BFP or not. Tested again today and it was there again. Tests were both cheapies so I'm going to test again tomorrow. Can you get two false positives on pg tests?

Fairygodmother1 · 28/11/2010 18:24

I don't think it was 'another' as I doubt I have had any in the first place!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 28/11/2010 17:14

Hi Fairy

Think it means you've had another LH surge and the kit has read that, I would not really read anything else into it.

Would only take "official" confirmation of ovulation at this stage (i.e through blood tests or internal ultrasounds to check that an egg has actually left the ovary). As you know OPKs are inherently unreliable particularly where PCOS is the issue.

coconuts I have that book and it's fab!

wally how did your scan go?

fairy sorry I have no idea Blush

Fairygodmother1 · 28/11/2010 10:33

Hi all,

Need some advice, cos I didn't take my own advice!!!!

I've just taken an OPK & it's got two lines & I know PCOSers shouldn't use then but... - the story goes on day 22 I bled a little so thought I was on early - which also is a miracle I made it that far into the month going by my recent experience, then day 23 I didn't bleed at all, today I have EWCM so thought what the hell, I'll take an OPK - now have two lines - does it mean I'm ovulating or am I getting my hopes up???

Thanks girlies

xxx

How's the 2ww going lucy?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 26/11/2010 11:00

I look forward to hearing how you get on.

Quick question. I have bought this

Is it a good book? Are there better ones?

wallydog · 25/11/2010 22:22

thanks coconuts - I'll post after I've been! x

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 24/11/2010 10:36

it was just a sonographer for me but she was great answered all the questions i had before i asked them.

I was going to just start by saying "are you allowed to tell me the results here or do I have to wait to see my GP?" - She replied I can tell you now.

I would then have asked
"do my ovaries look normal?",
"have i got any cysts?",
"are they enlarged?",
"is my womb lining a normal thickness?"

but luckily she just told me everything straight away (apart from the womb lining bit because im useless and forgot that bit!)

Hope your scan goes well. Dont be nervous, the scan is the easy part :)

wallydog · 23/11/2010 23:35

Sorry to hear your news coconuts . I've got my scan next Wed to see if I've got it - really nervous now! Hmm What questions should I ask? Is it a doctor that scans you or just a sonographer?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/11/2010 20:27

18-24 months TTC to be referred to fertility. she has referred to gynae so should get an appointment in a few weeks hopefully.

tinky19 · 23/11/2010 20:21

did she say how long you needed to wait coconuts?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/11/2010 16:42

I have a good mind to go and see a diff doc. It's like now theyve found out whats wrong, thats it, deal with it, bugger off. She didn't even offer any support. If someone was going in knowing absolutley nothing about it she wouldnt have made them feel very at ease. lucky i kinda know a bit about it.

boba82 · 23/11/2010 16:06

Eh complain coconuts obv you'll have more difficulty TTC than someone without it. What a cheek!! Some people really shouldn't work in the health profession. I'd ask for 2nd opinion, you're more than entitled to that. Sorry you had such a shitty time Sad I feel Angry for you! x

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/11/2010 14:32

Hi all,

I'm back after my scan last week and my follow up appointment this morning.

Long and short of it is that I definitely have PCOS, it's incurable and I'm "stuck with it" and there is nothing she can do. I asked to be referred and she said she will refer to gynae "if I insist" but not fertility. I'm don't "meet the criteria" for any treatment like Clomid or Metformin. I am apparently too yound and haven't been TTC long enough.

Overall a shit appointment.

Don't know where to go from here.

Angry

Congrats to any BFP's that have happened recently :)

lucysnowe · 23/11/2010 14:31

Thankyou, boba!

boba82 · 22/11/2010 16:45

Good luck on the 2ww lucy!

lucysnowe · 22/11/2010 12:39

Hi all

Wow BFPs, starting this kind of thread really brings on the luck doesn't it!

reallygrumpy sorry for the bad news but hope you feel better once AF comes (and if it doesn't, all the better :-))

Well I am quite pleased because we managed to SWI day before ov this time round, due to dh's assiduity :-) so actually have got a proper 2WW for the first time in ages! However, no symptoms of any kind and I usually get sore boobs pre-menstrually so am a bit worried the high temps are just a ruse. We will have to wait and see.

Take care everyone.

boba82 · 22/11/2010 12:02

tinky sorry about your BFN but yay on your weight loss!

louisE congratulations!

grumpy sorry about your BFN but I agree with pinky maybe repeat in a couple of days?

pinkypanther · 21/11/2010 08:24

Oh yes (hit post too soon) congrats Louis! Your age gap could be even smaller than mine!

pinkypanther · 21/11/2010 08:23

Aah rubbish reallygrumpy, it's so depressing isn't it?

If it makes you feel better I had BFN on CD39 (UCL 33 - 35 days) then BFP on CD41 - so it isn't over till AF arrives.

Are you going to go on to Clomid again this side of Christmas or wait till the new year?
