PCOS and TTC! Anyone want to join with me?

I ladies. I have DD1 (almost 3) and DH and I have begun talking about TTC #2. It took nearly 4 years to conceive DD1 and we finally had success with a course of clomid.

I am now in Canada and have just been referred to a new gynecologist who is apparently the leading expert in PCOS in Canada. So hopefully he will be able to help speed things along. I don't think I could take another 4 year wait.

Does anyone else want to join??

Hi ya,

Have no idea what's going on with mine either. After not bleeding for 3 weeks I had a bleed but only for the friday afternoon, then thought I'd try an OPK just to see on the Sunday if maybe it was an ovulation bleed & I'm convinced it was positive. tried it again two days later & the 2nd line was less & now a week & 1/2 later (nearly 2 weeks after bleed I#ve still not got AF).

In the past two weeks i've had pink/beige discharge, cramps, now have achy & swollen boobs, very irritable (signs of pmt) but weirdly very hungry & if I don't eat heartburn!!!! Xmas Hmm

3 years now of trying & had every symptom...bloody PCOS!!!! Xmas Angry

I have gyne app on Monday! Xmas Smile

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 08/12/2010 16:55

Thats what I'm thinking. But I'm not sure I want to put myself through all the raised spirits because I think I'm ovulating when I'm not. Oh I don't know. got my gynae appt anyhow. 5th Jan.

lucysnowe · 08/12/2010 14:00

You could try I guess baubles, might be interesting to see if your positives corrolate with ovulation.

I know you are meant to have false positives on OPKs with PCOS but I've never had anything like a positive... very dispiriting Sad

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 07/12/2010 21:55

So should I do my OPKs every day when AF buggers off? I'll prob be one of those that has AF only twice a year. Might not even be ovulating.

boba82 · 07/12/2010 21:33

that's great baubles, I felt like that this month too Smile FX we get our BFPs next cycle eh?!

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 07/12/2010 20:26

So if I did ovulate (i obviously missed it) would it have been nearer to the start of AF or nearer to the end of the last cycle? It is definitly AF by the way, started properly today. This is almost as good as a BFP for me :) :)

wallydog · 07/12/2010 20:16

Bodies are annoying - makes you wish you took more notice of what they were doing before ttc!!!!
I'm on CD34 - not sure if ovulated!!!!

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 07/12/2010 13:40

I gave up with my OPKs wish I'd carried on now. Could this bleed mean I've ovulated because it's completely stopped now? Stupid body of mine.

lucysnowe · 07/12/2010 13:35

Hi all!

Yayay for lovely AF, good luck for the next cycles!

Not sure what is happening with me at the moment, everything seems to have gone wonky again. First of all got AF at what seemed to be 11 dpo, then raised temperatures for the first 6 days after. Like a fool I thought maybe I was pg despite the bleeding and lack of symptoms so did another test, no joy.

This time round have gone for soy again but taking a bit more than before and will start again on day 14. Am in some ways glad not to be preg over Christmas as I was last year, felt dreadful, and m/c in Jan. Can enjoy myself drink lots of champagne instead.

Regarding ovulation testing. So, if OPK, temping, ferning tests don't work if you have PCOS, does anything?? I suppose EWCM but personally for me that's never worked as a sign, either...

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 06/12/2010 17:43

Well guys dont know if AF is here or not but having some reddy/pink stuff, enough to need a pad. Hope it stays or I'll be going crazy think of implantation bleeds otherwise! Thats 6 months.

wallydog · 05/12/2010 22:10

I know what you mean boba just found out that two of my work mates are pregnant too!

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 04/12/2010 18:54

yes its coconuts with my xmas hat on Xmas Grin

boba82 · 04/12/2010 13:00

Thanks baubles, I take it you're the artist formally known as alovelybunchofcoconuts?

Another of our friends announced pregnancy today Envy. Each one gets harder & harder to deal with. Sometimes feel like it will never be our turn Sad

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 03/12/2010 11:50

boba Wahey for AF :) I never thought I'd hear myself wishing for a period but I know how you feel. Good Luck Xmas Grin

boba82 · 03/12/2010 11:31

Woo hoo AF got me today. Not the result we hoped for but I am soooo grateful to have a cycle that is under 100 days and to have my first proper period in 8 months. Hopefully this will be my lucky cycle!

I didn't know about Jools or Emma either. More people than you think suffer from it. Infertility's a bit of a taboo topic still so a lot of us suffer in silence don't we?

Hope everyone is ok? This snow is a total nightmare!

wallydog · 01/12/2010 22:44

Sorry to crash, but I found out something new today at the age of 39!!! I never knew the ovaries were so far down - I wondered where the sonographer was going when he started!!! Blush It's not like in the text books!!!! Obviously didn't take too much notice in Biology at school! Grin
Thanks Boba and Coconuts x

p/s didn't know about Emma or Jools!!!

Fairyontopofthexmastree · 01/12/2010 21:54

I knew about Jools - she's my guru - but again she also has the money. I know she struggled with Poppy as I've read that book tons of times!

Did not know about Emma Thompson!

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 01/12/2010 21:52

Jools Oliver and Emma Thompson have it too Fairy.

But yes they can obviously afford the top end treatment.

Fairyontopofthexmastree · 01/12/2010 21:44

I didn't know she has PCOS!!! Not convinced by that. But on the other side she can afford the treatment privetly!

12 days to my next app with cons. Hoping to continue Metformin. Wish they'd do some monitoring of whether I'm actually ovulating again. At least I'm now been 'normal' this months except for slight bleeding last Friday afternoon. Nothing since but lots of period aches!!!

boba82 · 01/12/2010 18:44

wally glad you've had the all clear from your scan but hopefully the tests will shed some light for you.

finnbarr welcome. I know why does everyone compare to bloody Posh Spice?! Angry ha ha at least we can rant here!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 01/12/2010 17:42

finnbarr someone has said that to me before. I have only been diagnosed a fortnight so I'm a mere amateur :)

Are you on any treatment? regular cycles?

wallydog pleased you don't have PCOS, now for getting a different diagnosis :)

finnbarr · 01/12/2010 16:53

Hey all

Have severe PCOS and ttc. Just started our journey really - only been ttc a few months and I don't think me stressing out about desperately wanting to get pg is helping much!

Very please I'm not the only one out there! All I keep getting told is "Well, Victoria Beckham has PCOS and SHE'S had three boys..." Well GOOD FOR HER (grrr...!!)

Sorry...ranting!!

wallydog · 01/12/2010 16:47

Thanks coconuts and Boba - my scan went well! They couldn't see anything untoward, had to have an internal in the end but said everything looked normal! So I'll have to book an appointment next week with Docs and request a blood test to rule out PCOS!

Unfortunately no baby hiding in there!!!!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 30/11/2010 15:43

Good luck with you r scan tomorrow wally

Let us know how it goes :)

lucysnowe · 30/11/2010 10:52

fairy some people bleed when they ovulate, I would go for it!

tinky no joy I'm afraid. Actually started spotting on dpo11 just to rub it in. Sad Actually have been v. v. sick this week with something like norovirus (only DH and DD haven't got it) so was a bit concerned it was morning sickness and I was in for a rough ride, so mixed feelings at seeing AF. Going to try a bit more soy this time and see how it goes.
