The (updated) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). Horse-riding and other dangerous activities are also actively encouraged.

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed. If you're a midwife, you can even get other midwives to furkle for you Grin

Keep us up to date with gossip!

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Pmsl for takethat and her ramekin hunt at the (useless) docs [hgrin]

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 29/10/2010 18:24

FFS takethatlady! That is shocking Angry Utilise the power of pregnancy hormentalness and go nuclear on them make them see the error of their ways.

Although tbf in the early stages of pregnancy I was more weepy and pathetic than ragingly angry...that came at the end Grin

NervousNelly that does sound like a tiring and expensive day. I had a smear this week also, aren't they fab Hmm although I did complement the nurse on her technique - 'that was the most comfortable smear I've ever had!' Confused

Enjoy Arcade Fire, I saw them in Barcelona when Funeral came out and they were truly amazing.

crowette what a dilemma (and sorry to hear about your MC). You seem like you are being remarkably level-headed about it all. Hope it resolves itself soon one way or the other :)

Been shopping today for a party dress to wear out tomorrow night, and found a fun structured frock in TK Maxx for only twenty squid DH on his way back from two day meeting thing and is badly stuck in traffic, so it looks like an evening on the sofa in front of The Event for me.

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 18:03

Having now realised that urine infections can cause all sorts of problems in pregnancy and that if left to develop into kidney problems that's even worse, I am so fucked off with the hospital who diagnosed a urine infection but forgot to do anything about it that I can barely speak.

It's only because I brought it up with the doctor and then pushed for an extra test today that I've been treated at all.

If there are any resulting problems I'm going to go mental at the hospital. What total fuckwits.

Rant over. Sorry ladies :)

OP posts:
takethatlady · 29/10/2010 17:36

Grrr for long protocols vallinna.

Turns out I did have a urine infection, which, because the hospital didn't give me antibiotics a week ago, has become a kidney infection too Angry

Got baby-safe antibiotics now, and pleased it explains the back ache, which is in fact kidney ache.

Still smarting over using the word 'ramekin' in the doctor's surgery and thinking I'd seem like a normal person. I blame you lot :)

Pooy bottoms for that then. I wonder why they think your ovaries aren't suppressed enough...don't they know you haven't ovulated since the 90s!! Wink

I had heard people say that once you start the IVF it all goes quite quickly - maybe that's when they're looking back on it, or compared to the years TTC. How is your new clinic, by the way? How's the service?

I'm seeing the FC again on Monday with results of blood tests (thyroid for me, I think, and hormone ones for DH, as he has crap swimmers). Am praying we'll get the clomid then to give it a shot. We'll be allowed a few cycles of that and hope something happens. Will be grilling him about monitoring! If not, we're being recommended down the IVF or ICSI road....

vallinnapod · 29/10/2010 16:34

Long is 2 weeks on down reg drugs and then x many on the stimulating ones. I say x many as they are starting me on a tres low dose as I am at risk of OHSS (the over stimulating thingy). Low dose may do nothing so it's increased gradually.

Short would be straight on to the stims, they had suggest this would be my protocol as 3 weeks on the pill would have supressed my ovaries also.

Oh well nearly moving forward! Stupidly bloated! Forgot the pill did this to me!

Miffles · 29/10/2010 16:23

What's long and what's short protocol, vallinna and how do they decide which you should be on? Christmas Day testing...I do not envy you that. Sad

vallinnapod · 29/10/2010 16:11

Arse biscuits...just been told I am on long protocol. Which is obviously fine, I just wish the prospect of short had never been dangled in front of me! Thought I'd be bursting full of ready to pop eggs in a few weeks as opposed to supressing my already so-dormant-they-might-as-well-not-be-there ovaries Smile

Done some obsessive premiliminary maths and if I respond as expected I would be due to do my PG test on Christmas Day Shock. That's one way to polarise emotions over the holiday season.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 29/10/2010 16:06

Hmm who to start with? Grin

You lot must be bad if I'm even contemplating going near a fish! I expect to read lots of drunken/hungover posts this weekend (purely for the entertainment value to me of course). Grin

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 15:55

Ooh miffles they have absolutely amazing sparkly earrings for £12.99 in River Island - I just bought them for my SIL for her birthday. Here

They look much better in real life though. Soo sparkly ...

Just peed again at docs and I actually said to the lady 'I'm meant to use one of the white-topped er .... um .... ramekins and not one of the red ones'. She looked at me strangely but she knew what I meant ...

OP posts:
crowette · 29/10/2010 14:39

Miffles I've googled loads about first period after MC, and the general opinion is it can take up to 6-7 weeks to return. MC was very early, and on the day, the hospital test was negative, so there couldn't be any residual HCG to trick my body into thinking it was still pregnant and delaying ovulation? Pah, I give up trying to work it out Grin

AF will come when she's ready - if not I'll go to the Doc's in a couple of weeks!

Or maybe I'll google more.

crowette · 29/10/2010 14:33

I have a CB digital upstairs, but don't want to use it Confused at this very moment I'm getting the mild AF style cramps, so I keep thinking she's on her way. But I had rather more painful ones a couple of weeks ago and nothing happened then.

I have no idea whether I OV'd this cycle yet. Pant snot is creamy and temps last 3 days (since I bought the thermometer) have been on the high side of what the guide considers to be 'normal' pre-ov temps ... but then I don't know what is normal for me yet. Aaaarrrgh!!

I'm new to all this charting, pant snot etc stuff, so have no idea what any of it means :(

Miffles · 29/10/2010 14:33

(cross-posts with TTL and Vallinna as I wrote such a flipping long one! Soz)

Miffles · 29/10/2010 14:31

Hey you lot...glad to see no one else is doing any proper work round here!

TTL - good work on the TT tickets. [henvy] But I must agree with Nelly - easy tiger! Take a breath and chillax a bit. Have you heard from the docs? I guess they're wanting to know exactly which bacteria you have so they don't give you unnecessary antibiotics. Be sure to drink LOTS and esp cranberry juice (although, TBH, it's more the quantity that's important).

Oh I did laugh at you discovering you're shorter and fatter than you thought, TTL!

Shock for BB and the appalling service from your GP. That is SO bad. Or maybe they'd got used to you and knew that if you were at all concerned you'd have been on the phone to them immediately! They were all breathing a sigh of relief Wink

Sitting eating Terry's Choc Orange - with Popping Candy. Oh yes! BOGOF at Tesco....yum. It makes me smile hearing and feeling the popping in my mouth. Maybe it should be prescribed to viroids having a tough time - chocolate and a smile guarenteed!

Vallinna - hope you're feeling less bloated and not so down. It's understandable, but try and stick it out for the last few days. Enjoy some wine over the weekend - I will be - to celebrate my BFN! You did make me feel better, thanks, re: ridiculous testing!

Creme - good luck with the shagging. Always hard when you know you're out and your minds not on it. Try and look really sexy so he wants you when you get home. Grin

crow - you're killing us! You've got to test again! Mind you, it does change things since your long cycle is following a mc. I've no advice on that, I'm sorry...have you posted on the main board for advice? Though that's not all that helpful often. So have some of my choc orange instead.

Nelly - that does sound like a thoroughly crap day! you poor thing! Make sure you enjoy your chilled w/e to yourself. And some good JSing on Sunday. [hwink]

Thanks for all your wolf whistles on my dress. I'm really made up about it how sexy it looks. Total surprise! Now spending hours a bit of time searching for the perfect earrings. Want crystal ball/pave ball type dangly ones like Cheryl Cole was wearing for her interview with Piers Morgan...

vallinnapod · 29/10/2010 14:27

Afternoon all!

I am part of the 'waiting for a call from a healthcare professional' gang Grin Waiting for the clinic to call be to confirm what I have to do on CD1 (prob Friday/Saturday next week) and if I have been accepted on their IVF Plus programme as I need to pick my lovely drugs up at some point!

Other than that, clock watching!!

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 14:23

Thanks nervous, trying to breathe ... Grin

Docs rang, I peed in the wrong colour pot, gotta go and pee in another and they can test it in the surgery. Also found an old cheapie in a drawer. Woohoo! Still got one test left in me!

Do another test crowette but just to let you know, I had a natural mc and then a 9 week cycle (my previous two cycles had been 7 weeks, so it was 2 weeks extra). That's this cycle, so I still got preggo. Look out for your pant snot as maybe you haven't ov'd yet.

No Halloween plans here. Going to watch my brother DJing tonight, with my mum and step-dad. Haven't told them yet and don't want to for a while so need to do some more sneaky drink disposal.

crowette · 29/10/2010 13:58

ooops that should be false negative ... see, gone mad :(

crowette · 29/10/2010 13:55

Hi BB it is unusual for me, maybe a day or two late, but never 2 weeks! I had a natural MC six weeks ago, negative test at the hospital (after 4 positive home tests a few days beforehand) So I'm guessing it's just taking time for my body to get back to normal. But I've been having mild AF cramps for at least 3 weeks, coming and going. Keep expecting her to turn up any moment, but nothing.

Sore-ish boobs, is that OV of AF?? Confused but other than that, no signs of anything else.

TTL yes I did, now I'm driving myself mad by googling 'false postive clear blue digital test' and 'no period 6 weeks after miscarriage'

NervousNelly · 29/10/2010 13:51

Hello lovely viroids. Nearly the weekend (and it already is for our pals Down Under [henvy].

BB I use the Batiste range. You can buy them in Tesco, Boots etc. Diva is my favourite smell followed by Blush. They work pretty well I find, and I am definitely down to once every 2 days for hairwashing now. The OPKs sound positive (no pun intended!) and very well done on 3 days in a row! Gold star for effort [hwink]

TTL you are a bit mental at the moment, aren?t you Grin. Easy tiger. And breathe... But great news about the TT tickets, even if you can?t go in the end, I understand completely the superstitious/reverse psychology reasons for buying them. If your bean is a boy, will it be called one (or all) of Gary/Mark/Howard/Jason or possibly even Robbie????

No wonder you are frustrated crow - I?d say keep testing. Pendulum does sound good too. I?m off to see Arcade Fire in December which I?m equally excited about [hgrin].

Yesterday was a rubbish day for me. Firstly had the vet (just for horses vaccinations etc, but they also got blood samples taken so I always feel bad for them :( ) Then had to pay plumber £180 to fit a part in the boiler, which still hasn?t fixed it, so another part to come. Then had dentist (just registered so that was just a check up) but have to go back next week for 3 fillings Shock. I then want to get my teeth straightened, been wanting to do it for years, so now that they have the clear braces to do it I?m going to go ahead. That?s going to be megabucks, and they think I?ll need to have teeth removed. Ouch. To top it all off, had my lovely smear exam at the end of the day. All ?looks? fine (poor woman, don?t fancy the view from her office much [hgrin]) but it?s always a tiny bit nerve-wracking waiting for the results, just in case. I told her I was TTC JSing and did she have any advice, but she didn?t say much. Just told me my BMI was a bit low (I?d say it?s borderline, depends on what chart you use, plus I do eat well so I?m not worried about it, but she made me feel bad anyway [hangry].) And of course OH is away, so no JSing till Sunday, which is annoying as I think I?m due to OV on Monday or Tuesday. Still, at least he?ll have saved it all up (I hope Shock Grin)

(oh dear that reads as though I?m very down, I?m not really, just sounds worse when you list it all out!)

Anyone got exciting weekend/Halloween plans? None really here, we live in the middle of nowhere so I very much doubt I?ll get trick or treaters. Unless the cows ring the bell. But as OH is away I will very definitely be treating myself to a bath/book/candles night again. This time I?ll make sure the cat keeps his tail out of the way [hwink].

Mwahs and Mehs all round :)

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 13:27

brassica what a joke. That really is bad.

Mine are supposed to be ringing back between 12 and 2. It's 1.26 now, so we'll see. Glad someone else thinks it's weird to wait 4 days for urine test results on an infection ...

But I can't believe they never phoned you back! I'd be so tempted to phone up and tell them off.

crowette did you last do a test a week ago? Maybe you should do another one just in case?

OP posts:
BrassicaBabe · 29/10/2010 12:55

2 weeks late crow Is that unusual for you? It must be driving you up the wall!

I agree takethat GP receptionists are dragons. Yeah, waiting 4 days to find out if you've got an infection sounds sensible Hmm

Did you know that I've not received a call back from my GP after my MC? I had the faint BFP at the docs on the thursday but he could see it was nearly a BFN so took a blood test. I was fecked around right royally on the Friday when it eventually turned out that the results weren't back yet. Red-Fecker arrived on the Sunday so I didn't bother phoning for the results on the Monday. But no one has called me! Anything could be happening for all they know, retained stuff, ectopic etc. I am really pissed off. I have BUPA healthcare via work so I was looking to upgrade my cover to include GPs. But the cloest private GP is 53 miles away!!! So I can't even throw money at the problem. It drives me mad that we have to accept such crap service and have no other options. AngryAngry

Wow! Not sure where that rant came from! Wink Although the more I think about it the more cross I get!

crowette · 29/10/2010 11:18

Hey ladies :)

Great news about the sticky beans!!

I'm joining in on the 'meh' attitude ... I'm on day fuck knows/can't be arsed to work it out now of my cycle. I know I'm two weeks late, but had a BFN last week. I've bought a thermometer to start charting, but it's useless until I get to day one of my cycle. Where is AF when I want the old cow??? [hangry]

Has anyone got anything planned for Halloween? I love it! I'm dressing up for work on Sunday, dug out my cat ears, collar and tail [hgrin] I've also bought 5 pumpkins for me, OH and our girls to carve tomorrow - I'm so excited! Taking my mind off everything else at the moment.

Loads of my friends are trying to get Take That tickets, most without much luck, sadly. Not my thing - I'm off to see Pendulum in Dec, woohoo!

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 11:06

PS - unless there are any on here, in which case you are the lovely exceptions Wink

OP posts:
takethatlady · 29/10/2010 11:05

That's what I asked the receptionist - I did a urine test yesterday (at the hospital last week they said I had a mild infection and forgot to give me antibiotics, which the doctor was not best pleased about yesterday). I phoned up to get the results and she said I have to wait until Tuesday! Then I said that if I did have an infection it would only get worse over the weekend and the doctor told me it's important to get infections treated asap, and she said in a huffy, angry sort of way that she'd get a doctor to call me back but not to hold my breath for when it will be.

To be fair, googling 'back pain six weeks pregnant' suggests that unless there's bleeding (which there isn't) it's fairly normal.

But doctor's receptionists are the spawn of the devil Grin
