Between 28 and 40 days since having my son based on "normal" cycles. On post-miscarriage cycle this time so been testing since day 17 post-mc, finally got a positive cd29!

How wonky are yours?

The sticks are fine, just need to make sure they are equally as dark or darker than the control for a pos. Ignore the fainter ones, even if they are almost as dark. they still don't count. But they do work, I promise!

GetDownYouWillFall · 08/10/2010 12:15

thanks LadyGoneGaga that's really useful, I will order some of those. ClearBlue were going to make us bankrupt!

How variable is your cycle?

Mine was always fine before I went on the pill but afterwards it has been all over the place. Been off them over 3 years now, so should have settled down by now!!

LadyGoneGaga · 08/10/2010 11:15

Getdowm I have a variable cycle too so abandoned the outrageously expensive ClearBlue after getting through whole packet with no sign of a smiley! Got these instead.

£10 for 40. They work just as well and much, much cheaper so I feel happy testing twice a day in case I miss the surge. Using in conjunction with charting, chcecking mucus and cervix (plus the secks of course) covers all possible bases I reckon. Obsessed, moi Grin

GetDownYouWillFall · 08/10/2010 11:08

Hello ladies, can I join too? Smile

Trying for a summer baby, so I can buck the family trend for December birthdays Hmm

TTC#2 cycle 1 UCL between 27 and 45 days Shock (I know!) current cycle day 18, still waiting for ov Sad - I think.

Chart is all over the place because of stupid insomnia Angry Anyone else have their chart wrecked on the crucial day(s) because they can't sleep?

Tried an OPK for the first time yesterday but was negative. Don't know whether to keep going with them as they are so expensive and with such a variable cycle who knows when I'll get that little Smile face!!

Luce2006 · 08/10/2010 08:45

LadyGoneGaga it would be nice but I'm not at all hopefull...
I'm off to play Euromillions soon after I've dropped DS to school, me and other 4 friends ( one of whome has been trying for a second for the past 2 years and we've spent all yesterday afternoon comforting each other and scoffing on homemade apple tart Grin )have founded a syndicate! ok we're not getting pg but mayeb we'll be winners tonight GrinLOL

LadyGoneGaga · 08/10/2010 08:27

Fingers cross AF doesn't turn up in full swing for you, Luce. I spotted day before my BFP. The tarts sound nice though!

Luce2006 · 08/10/2010 07:49

What a good way to get up.... I'm spottig SadI expect AF to turn up full swing but he end of the day Angry Yesterday I REALLY felt pg but it seems that it didn't last...Oh well I can stay on this bus and hope for a JUly baby then....
soooooooo,I'm taking some nice little tarts filled with caramelized onions and goats cheese and vodka, limes, sugar and passion fruits!

KnitterNotTwitter · 07/10/2010 22:54

hey ladies

Welcome all the lovely new people and Yo! to all the lovely old people - if that doesn't sound too weird.

Just back home from an amazing night out - had dinner cooked for me by 'new dad' Dhruv, 'Food writer' Alex and 'Children's Doctor' Tim. Delicious :)

The SWI seemed to go well so we're now on the 2WW.... Felt pg this morning but in reality that's probably just trapped wind :)

Good luck all...

Just realised that I haven't brought a picnic for the bus. Anyone fancy some homemade mince pies?! (Yes I know it is early but I loooove mince pies!) Drink of choice - chilled lager (so uncouth).

LadyGoneGaga · 07/10/2010 18:52

I'm ok thanks Wombat. Still good days and bad as you will know. SIL announced she is pg yesterday - due a month after I was due - happy for her, sad for me. Went to a acupuncturist the other day to get a bit of extra support - she's a fertility expert and was really good just to get a lot of this stuff off my chest. How are you gettiing on? Sorry the first cycle didn't work but at least your cycle seems to have normalised pretty quickly.

Defo hoping for a stickier bus for both of us this time round!

Thanks for the welcome, Kat. I'm not a big pate fan but I'll take your camebert and wash it down with this bottle of red wine, thanks.

Wombat33 · 07/10/2010 18:45

LadyGG!! Hello!!! How did I miss your ealier post? I think I was too busy drooling over virtual paté HmmGrin How are you? Glad to hear you've got a positive OPK. My SWI during the WTF cycle didn't get me anywhere but hey ho, another month 'n' all that. Let's hope this bus is luckier and sticker for us both than the April bus was xxx

Evening all! Only one more day until the WEEKEND! God I can't wait!

Thanks for the yummy camembert Kat.

kat2504 · 07/10/2010 18:32

Ooh wombat good idea! I love paté. I'm bringing camembert in the hope that none of us will be eating any until next summer!

Welcome to the bus Gaga sorry to hear about your m/c. Hope your wtf doesn't last too long, pleased to hear you've got positive opk, hope you are "enjoying" it ;) Thanks for the gin!

Wombat33 · 07/10/2010 13:14

Hi all! I started on the grapefruit juice today. It' only day 2 but I thought I better try everything I can to get that all important EWCM if I'm hoping the swimmers are going to hang around long enough to meet the egg while DH is away on business. So much for chilling out about it all this month :o))

I've brought paté for everyone today in the hope it is the last we'll eat for 8.5 months! WinkGrin

Hello, can I get on the bus

I was on the April bus right to the end but sadly lost baby at 7 weeks. Still on WTF cycle but OPK has just gone positive so back in the saddle (ahem). Hoping for a sticky one this time.

Morning. Am hopping on as I have just left the June bus. I'm newly married and was hoping for a honeymoon baby but AF got me today - 4 days early (started Pregnacare vitamins so am wondering if it's that which shortened my cycle also mrsden) Have added myself on although I'm not sure of my next AF so have put the later one to be sure.

Good luck everyone!!

PeevedEve · 07/10/2010 09:57

Morning all. I've been away with work and glad to be home. Brought some Danish pastries for the bus.

Jigglebum and Teds - I had a chemical pregnancy in January. From what I understand the egg does get fertilised but doesn't implant properly so AF arrives. I did feel pregnant & got a BFP on the day AF was due(but it was faint & took a while to come up). AF turned up 4 days later.

It's good to see there's lots of company on the bus

mrsden · 07/10/2010 08:58

Welcome to all the new passengers, this bus is a good one!

Great idea about the stats Ravenlocks. 31st Oct seems a long way off for me though, wish I could fast forward a bit.

jigglebum I hadn't heard about the morning thing, maybe I'll try that this month. These are all the tips I've heard or read, no idea if they're correct, not worked for me yet!

  1. Don't smoke (also important man doesn't smoke too because smoking affects sperm quality)
  1. Limit alcohol drinking
  1. Take pre-natal vitamin incl folic acid (I take the pregnacare ones and I don't know if it's coincidence but my cycles seemed to have shortened from 35+ days to 29-30 days since taking them)
  1. Zinc for man
  1. Boxer shorts no tight underwear!
  1. Avoid hot baths or anything that raises body temperature
  1. Limit caffeine intake
  1. Start Swi-ing 6 days before ovulation and for 48 hrs afterwards
  1. Avoid woman on top position
  1. Raise your bum in the air for 10 mins after Swi-ing, or lie on your tummy with a pillow under thighs if you have retroverted uterus

  2. Try not to get up for 15 mins afterwards

And I'm sure there are others that I've forgotten. Has anyone got any other top tips?

I'm still totally confused about how often to SWI, I've read conflicting stuff. Some say everyday, some say every other day, some say as much as possible etc, etc.

And of course I know people who don't follow any of these tips and get pregnant straight away!

Luce2006 · 06/10/2010 19:06

i'm feeling generous tonight Grin
so I'm taking smoked salmon, tart tatin and a lovely Moscato di Pantelleria for everyone on the bus with me

kat2504 · 06/10/2010 18:52

Sorry I forgot to make a new contribution to the bus snacks! I am sharing a lovely bottle of wine with you all, along with a delicious plate of cookies (choc chip) and muffins.
Here's to us all having a lovely bus journey this month and hopefully quite a few arrivals at the destination, especially for you ladies who have done a fair few bus tranfers already.

Wombat33 · 06/10/2010 18:44

Thanks for the welcome all. And the chocolate!

Luce2006 · 06/10/2010 18:14

hippyhen I hope your appointment goes well and your Dr is better than mine ( I saw 3 over the past 9 months and the one I saw yesterday admitted that he's justa generic so he can't help me with specific fertility problems..I guess I need to appreciate his honesty!!!LOL )

Wombat33 welcome aborad!
so sorry to read about your MC Sad sending you virtual hugs and some nice virtual chocolate!
allthatjazz hi there Smilemy cycles are a bit irregular too Hmm ince January I had 22/20/22/22/23/24/35/24/25/26 and this cycle I'm on CD 36 Hmm and waiting for AF to make an appearence.
IF I managed to get PG this month it's a miracle considering we only had sex twice... did a test yesterday and one today and they both came up negative so I'm not hopefull...I think I'll go an treat myslef to a glass of MArtini Grin cheers girls
