Hi mousebacon I've posted a description of my ERPC before, hang on

here it is:

"I was asked to go to hospital at 7AM, and not to eat or drink anything from the 10PM the previous day. After 'checking in' they directed me to the ward where I'd be looked after.

The nurse who was overseeing my care greeted me and showed me to my bed and asked me to wait for a healthcare assistant. The HCA brought me a hospital gown, helped me tie it up and then measured my legs for those compression stockings, gave me a bag to put my belongings in. Then there was a bit of a wait before the nurse came through to explain what would happen and to give me a vaginal pessary which softens and opens the cervix a little. She gave me the choice of inserting it myself or having her do it.

Then there were questions about allergies, teeth, make-up etc which were repeated by the anaesthetist who came to visit.
Then more waiting.

Then I was told they were ready for me, so I lay down and they wheeled me into the theatre area, or rather a room just outside the theatre where the anaesthetists were waiting. They put a canula in my hand (which was probably the most difficult thing about the whole process as my veins weren't easy to find), fixed up a drip and then she told me they were going give me the anaesthetic and would count backwards from 10. I think she got to 7 and I was out.

Next thing I was dreaming and then woke up with a bit of a start. There was recovery nurse next to me and I was on a blood pressure monitor. My throat hurt and that was the first thing I said to the nurse, she said it was from the breathing tube they'd put in while I was under. I was bit confused and just asked her whether it was over, she said yes and I cried a bit then - I'd been holding myself together for a week to deal with it all so there was a release. The nurse was very warm and kind. I felt very cold and shivery but not sore, so they tucked me up with more blankets and then I was wheeled back to the ward I'd come from.

There the HCA monitored my blood pressure, and temperature, they checked how much I was bleeding and generally kept me under observation for a while. My blood pressure was low, so I had several bags of fluid through the drip to try to push it up. They gave me some oral painkillers and I had a bit of cramping but nothing more than mild period pain.

After I'd gone to the toilet they were able to discharge me, and they sent me home with diclofenic as a painkiller.
I was home by about 3pm. I read a lot and listened to my ipod. I had bleeding like a long period but no pain (took one paracetamol the next day) afterwards.

That's it. I hope this description doesn't stir up bad memories for people - I actually think of this as a relatively positive experience. My care was really sensitive, and physically quite easy, which I think made the emotional recovery easier."

mousebacon · 14/10/2010 19:46

Hi ladies, I had to go back to the hospital today as my pg test is still showing a feint positive. I just thought they'd say give it a couple more days as the tests are definately geting lighter but oh no, was whisked in for a scan, retained products found and booked in for an ERPC on Saturday.

I was just wondering if anyone could share their experience of ERPC with me. I'm not bleeding anymore but have been advised that I may bleed and/or have some pain afterwards.

I like to know what I'm letting myself in for so tell it like it is. Thanks in advance, don't know how I'd have coped without MN in the last few days. Smile

Oh, the MC was 10 days ago and I was 11+ weeks if that makes any difference. xx

Velvetcu · 14/10/2010 19:13

I got married in 2000 and we dont have digital photos either!

PinkFondantFancy · 14/10/2010 19:07

aandr sorry shouldn't laugh about pool incident but it is v funny! Big respect for driving to Venice-I don't think I'd be brave enough to do that journey and it's only me and DH, and he's happy enough driving if I keep him fed and watered!

nicks here's hoping last night did the job!

ladybee I think I understand what you were doing with your chart, boo for temps going down. Reckon you should dare her with your tightie whities, like mrs nicks said, sooner she comes if she's coming, sooner next ov will be here. I hear you on the bump envy, same thing always happens to me too :( smug rubbing of bump in public should be illegal, it brings out all sorts of horrible feelings in me :(

Sorry about af jammy, wanna be my cycle buddy??

wombat ((())) for your sucky dr appt, that is terrible, why couldn't they have just done your swab, would have only made them 10 mins late. That is so not ok :(

inbetweener glad bleeding is almost finished and good news about dh being keen! How do you feel about trying again?

mummya how did you go at new gynae? Good work on candle lighting, will accept but not sure I'm strong enough to actually light one...

izzy glad acu went well!

batty are you in a big hangover mess today?? Hehe I need to check th link on teabagging when I get home!!

I know what wombat means about wanting to get your fun side back. I feel like I have been stuck in a pit of despair now since June and cried on the way home from work almost every night with no end in sight. When am I ever going to feel happy again?? Today I just feel like this ttc thing is hopeless and is never going to happen :( my best mate mmc'ed earlier this year and she's 9 weeks pg now and had a reassurance scan that went perfectly, and she texted me to tell me how it went and said 'v v unlikely that anything will go wrong now'. Of course I want everything to go perfectly for her but it made me cry because my scan at 8 weeks had heartbeat and everything but baby was too small and I didn't get a happy ending :( I guess I'm just jealous that I wasn't so lucky.

Anyway enough whingy whingy, reading your posts today has really cheered me up, thanks ladies!!

Wombat33 · 14/10/2010 19:03

Oh Velvet I'm still hoping for you...

KT that sounds horrid for you you poor thing. I really hope it stops soon x

I too opened the tb link at work. Opps. hope the IT profanity people don't catch up with me!!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 14/10/2010 19:02

velvet (((hug))) hope it comes to nothing. If you've got a big night out I would POAS in the morning anyway just to make sure, otherwise you'll end up feeling guilty about it all night.

batfink Shock I so did not need to see that picture!! Grin

nicks I'm another one who got married before digi cameras came in -way back in 1999. God that makes me sound old! (I'm 34). Must get around to scanning them in at some point. Nothing quite as glamourous as mamap's though (mp your photos are gorge!!)

KTRace · 14/10/2010 18:38

LadyB - my bleeding is still bright red and clots. It is 2 weeks since I had a scan which said my cervix was closed. Also, not helping me move on all this blood and sanitary towels. There must be a spike in demand where I live for them!

Velvetcu · 14/10/2010 17:41

Helloo

Just thought I would pop in quickly to say things have taken a slightly darker turn in the pants dept for me so I don't know if I will bother testing in the morning. Only problem is I've got a big party to go to so it will niggling at me if AF doesnt actually show up tomorrow.

Hope you are all good

nickstermum · 14/10/2010 15:46

MummyAbroad · 14/10/2010 13:32

Morning!

LadyB and Jammy so sorry AF got you

and wombat I totally feel for you with the doctors, I have got the stage where I cant even get the courage to make an appointment, luckily DS is doing it for me! Its so disapointing when you dont get the answers you want. Well done you for getting right back on the horse though and looking for another one. Dont waste those de-furred legsSmile

Inbetweener if no one has recommended it yet, get a copy of Taking Charge of Your Feritlity by Toni Weschler, I had an easy time with DS1 too and thought it would be the same second time round, this book has completely opened up a whole new world I never knew existed. Cant recommend it enough.

nice one on the exam batfink!!

MamaP Yep, I am off to see a new gyne today (number 4!) as it has been 15 weeks since ERPC and no AF Confused Sending you some good vibes for DH's swimmers Grin

I'm looking forward to my third massage in three days today!! Grin Grin Grin Wish I had more money to keep this up for longer... its heavenGrin

nickstermum · 14/10/2010 12:51

MamaPower · 14/10/2010 12:28

Notes to me:
Nix has not only found cervix but observed it does move and change!! Yay!

Batfink studies English but gets drunk and all use of said language goes out the window!!

Wombat that sucks mate! Hope tomorrow is better Smile

inbetweener · 14/10/2010 11:09

Morning all,

Gosh you girls do a lot fo chatting overnight lol. I laughed actually outloud at teabagging !!
Wombat (((((((())))))) Thats horrid when you psych yourself up for something.
I know what you mena about bump envy too, they seem to be verywhere. There here at work too.

Jam - sorry that AF arrived but I always look at it that its an excue to have a drink for the next 5 days lol.

Batfink - well done on finishing yuor exams, must be a nice relief. I cant remember the lkat time I did anything with my brain that didnt involve breasts lol. Dont worry im not a perv I work in a breast cancer unit !

Morning to everyone else, Im sorry I dont know all your names yet or your journeys. I hope I get to though Grin

Well, my bleeding has almost stopped which I am most surprised about. I had fully anticipated it to go on for ages but I guess that hideous lot at the start was everything ?
OH seems to keen to try again this month. Whether his male pride has taken a knock or something I dont know but he seems keen ??

So I guess im on CD5 and according to the ovulation calcualtor thingy I need to be doing the deed from the 19th onwards. I am so new to all this though I havent really got a clue. I took it for granted all those years ago with DD.

Right better do some work I guess although I probably will just trawl the internet for how to get pregnant tips Blush

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 14/10/2010 10:35

jam sorry for AF arrival and bee sorry chart's not looking inyour favour this month Sad. On thecother hand, symptoms sound good and you never know...

(((( wombat )))) sorry about rubbish dr appt - I know exactly what you mean about getting up the courage, so it's doubly crap you couldn't get everything done today.

batfink well done on finishing the exams - hope you enjoyed the wine! Grin

can't remember who was talking about grinding teeth - was it aandrmum or nicks ? - but I'm a fellow secret grinder, always have been. If it reassures anykne, I've never caused myself any damage doing it but agree best to take preventative measures (should probably take own advice there). I've actually woken myself up doing it before because it's so loud and it does sound bloody horrible Blush

anyway just popping in briefly this morning to spread some positive mental attitude - it's foggy and cold here but I've been for a 4-mile run this morning so feeling wide awake and refreshed! We are going to get there, girls, I just know it. Slightly nervous about acupuncturist appt but feeling good about taking positive steps forward.

And a special good luck (((hug))) for choccy and mummyabroad for their appointments today x

Wombat33 · 14/10/2010 10:16

Sorry for the me me me post - I just needed to vent Blush. Feel a bit better now.

Wombat33 · 14/10/2010 10:15

GrinGrinGrin at all the antics on here over night!

Jam sorry about AF arrival and Ladybee same about bump envy. I totally know what you mean with that one.

I just had a mini meltdown in our reception Hmm Got up really early for doc, shaved my legs and girded my loins for the examination and then london underground had other idieas about getting me to London on time (this GP is by work). Had only half my appointment so got all the way through the 'history' and then she said "yes, well I need to do an internal exam and take some swabs, but my next patient is here so make another appointment to see me next week.'. GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! I know it's not her fault I was late but it had taken sooo much courage to go :( Came out and burst into tears in office reception on a lovely friend who I happened to bump into Blush

So, can't wait for the same doc next week so have made an appointment for tomorrow with yet another doctor...

Humph. One of these days I'll get a grip and rediscover the fun side of my personality but sadly, I don't think it's going to be today!

That was exactly what I said myself. Then experienced the most enormous bump envy on the station platform as a lady walked by rubbing hers, and welled up. Think I better find something cheering on the iPod or I'll be biting my lip all the way into work. And yes, I am running late.
