whywait I think mostly I'm feeling petrified, and a bit surprised that it all is happening so quickly. Not too many physical symptoms, mainly tiredness and extreme hunger, but I don't think I will get too excited until the first scan as it doesn't quite seem real yet!

nannyl how annoying about your oven, what a bad time to break down :( But a good job you could rescue the dinner :)

bebe do you have any other signs of ov to go by? If not, maybe the sticks are a good idea, but if you have an idea of when ov is already then I think I'd save them for when they're needed.

Thanks bebe and nannyl think I'm just a bit nervous and want to get the scan done before xmas so we can tell people... will get onto the midwife and see if I can book a scan.

Happy birthday AC :) Hope you have a lovely day.

nannyl how exciting that you're so close to ttc :)

bebe is it your birthday soon? Maybe I missed you mention it, but hope you're not ill for it!

jbells think I must be due in early July, as had coil out at the beginning of Oct. But my last period was in Aug, so I'm only guessing from when Sept's should have been. You are due just a few weeks earlier?

whywait hope the OPKs give you some reassurance.

DH and I have been out shopping for presents today, and we are mostly done! Although we're not as super organised as it might sound because he's Jewish so we are actually buying for hannukah, which starts on 1 Dec this year, so we need to have presents earlier.

bebejones · 07/11/2010 16:43

Nannyl - What a nightmare! It won't hurt the fruit to be soaking a while in the brandy though :) I know people who soak their fruit in jars for months before making a cake!

I'm in 2 minds as to whether or not to use the OPKs for the next couple of months, just to get a feel for how they work IYKWIM? But on the other hand, don't want to waste them! Hmm Confused

Good afternoon...

mine hasnt been the best.... in the MIDDLE of cooking Sunday Roast and my oven just breaks Shock... so i had to take a half roasted chicken and half roasted potatoes to MIL's and finish it all off in their agag, leaving OH here to wait for his Dad and do the veg when i called to say on my way home.

NIGHTMARE (but could be worse... at least it wasnt Christmas day or anything)

So i have all my fruit soaked in brandy but no oven to bake my cake in... and just dont fancy cooking my tried and trusted recipie in an aga.

On the plus side our dinner was yummy, and i have 3 Xmas puddings steaming away until 9.30pm!

Whywait, sorry to hear about AF. Despite T NOT TC i have been using them for months and they arnt that bad, especially as all my charting means i know IM Ov-ing anyway, just pee on a stick to check Smile

Jbells hope you find a bargain netbook soon

morning all- lots of happiness and good news on the thread, just a quick one agen as still havnt got a netbook cheapest i have found so far is 220 pound

nannyl- lots of yummy food being made in your house and very exciting new on the TTC front :)

bebe- men r so hard to buy for all Dp ever seems to want is more dvds and xbox games but he never really plays on the xbox so he just has games piling up ive got about half the presents i need so far, really need to get a move on the time is going so fast

squirral- if u book scan early enuf it will prob be done around 10 weeks but i do agree with bebe that the later u leave it the clearer and better the scan will be wots your EDD?

bebejones · 07/11/2010 10:04

Aww sweet! :)

Have made Delia mincemeat, tis very yummy! Not sure I shall be amking anything else. Possibly some peppermint creams nearer the time!

I have done about 2/3 of the present buying. Only big things left to get are DDs main present and a couple of things for DH. (Why are men so hard to buy for?! Hmm)

I just had a play with the Due date calculator. I think TC in December will be out for me as I think I will OV too soon before it is 'safe'. But TTC in Jan (going on an estimate CD1) would give me a due date of 2nd October! Perrrfect! :o

OP posts:
nannyl · 07/11/2010 09:55

Agree Delia is the best for Xmas cake... I have my brandy at the ready to make them extra tasty too!

I am normally a nigella girl, and even got out my Nigella Xmas recipie book and looked at Nigellas Xmas cake, but decided against it and it will be Delia as usual!

(I do nigellas mince pies, Xmas cupckaes, Xmas morning muffins, Xmas tree biscs, brandy butter and cranberry sauce though!)

Perhaps i ought to at least start thinking about presents!...

As for baby planning, like most things in my life when i get a plan i really really follow it, and i like to do and think about everything!
OH has taken to rubbing my tummy goodnight each night "practising" for when his baby is in there Smile

bebejones · 07/11/2010 09:44

I have made 2 christmas cakes already (also Delia, it is the best recipe IMO) I am lovingly tending them with Brandy so that a mere sniff will have you intoxicated! Wink

Have fun making your xmas pud! I love 'family' recipes, I think it's lovely to have traditions like that!

Love how well thought out your TTC/baby dates planning is! :o

Happy Birthday AC Smile

AF has arrived as expected.... not trying this cycle so next AF will be the key date, giving me a due date of Sep 11 2011.... IF i get pg straight away....

Id be hoping for after 14th Sept, as will be 38 weeks on 29 Aug (and do NOT want an aug baby) and im hoping as its my 1st i'll go a bit over due, ideally past my birthday on 13 Sept!....

if i dont get pg straight away i still have a few months before its really close to Xmas, as dont want a Xmas baby either!!!! lol

I have anice relaxing Sunday

Nipping to MIL's to borrow a giant sauce pan, as this afternoon I am making my Christmas puddings (using our family recipie past down from my great great grandmother, and made every year in our family for well over 100 years now Grin, and also making my Xmas cake (delia!)

Got FIL for Sunday Roast so cooking this morning as well, and OH is off running

Hope you feel better soon bebe, and that your DH see's the light!

bebejones · 07/11/2010 08:36

Morning all!

Happy Birthday AC! Have a lovely day! :)

Squirrel - Imagine how lovely it would be if you get a scan just before Christmas. One of the ladies on my MN antenatal thread had her 12 week scan on Christmas Eve! Try not to worry too much about it, I know it's hard when you really want to see bean & know that everything is ok. On the plus side if it is a little bit 'late' then you get to see more IYSWIM as baby will be more developed.

Nannyl - if you get PG straight away will that give you an August EDD? Very exciting!

JS - hope you are having a lovely celebratory weekend!

Have woken up with a sore throat & pounding head which sucks! Hope it comes to nothing, don't want to be ill on my birthday!

I know it's lovely that DH is so worried about me. But he needs to listen a bit more when I tell him that I think that I could cope. I'm fitter & healthier than I was when DD was little! Mostly (apart from the odd bug) I feel really good! This surely should impact on his our decision to TTC? Hmm

Hello all!

squirrel one of my best friends is currently 15 weeks pg

due to her wedding / honeymoon taking weeks 11 - 13 she had her scan early at 9 weeks. Apparently you can have your "12 week scan" from 9 weeks now. (when i saw my Dr for pre TTC appt she also said you can now have you 12 week scan before 12 weeks if booked in soon enough) so hopefully you can get your scan in before Xmas, and have a lovely scan pic to show off at Xmas!

Bebe sorry to hear your DH is so so worried Sad

AC.. how lovely to read mumsnet with your DH Smile My OH always asks how you all are, and i ahve informed him of the pregnancies and JS new job lol!

Right im exhausted and am off to bed.
Am slightly excited (if thats the right term?) as AF is due tomorrow and this is my last cycle when we will be using contraception.... 2 and half weeks and no more condoms for the forseeable future Blush Grin

squirrel007 · 06/11/2010 22:03

Hi all! I went to watch the fireworks last night, but managed to get soaking wet by thinking it was a good idea to go with a just a hat and no umbrella (so I would see better?!). Had a nice relaxing day today too, just lazing at home and eating comfort food (mash and gravy) while DH is out with friends. Got my first midwife appointment on 1 Dec, but now I'm worried about when the scan will be (by my calculations 12 weeks coincides nicely with xmas, when I was rather hoping to be away on holiday!).

100years hope you have hot water now!!

bebe sounds like your DH is definitely more worried about you than you are, and no wonder you're annoyed if he is still ignoring the subject of ttc. Hope the B12 levels are ok.

js Am glad you handed your notice in! Hope you had a nice long weekend off work and had a chance to celebrate :)

quod did you get your car key back? How annoying for you!

wyorkslass how was the baby head-wetting?

jbells know what you mean about handing over cash for the laptop - they can be expensive and seem a bit like a luxury when there are other things to buy.

AC it's good that you can come and read mn with your DH and talk, fingers crossed he comes round soon.

jbells · 06/11/2010 12:43

hey all just on my mums comp to catch up with the news sorry cant rply to everyone as only on here for 2 mins but have read all the posts, havnt got laptop yet booo really struggling to hand over the cash for one if u know wot i mean, not a good expense just b4 xmas

happybirthday AC hope u have a fab day

bebejones · 06/11/2010 12:02

Have been reading alot of the Pregnancy board lately (I know, I know) I hated being PG with DD, but I really miss it! Confused

Saw Pipoca had posted on there, she is really suffering with hyperemesis :(

bebejones · 06/11/2010 11:10

I'm working up to it! Hence the writing of the list. I want to be fully 'armed' to deal with it! I think he knows he's just hoping that by ignoring it I'll forget! Hmm

Do you have any plans for your birthday? I have just made a banoffee pie as a treat for me, but I suppose DH & DD can have some! :o

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 06/11/2010 11:08

I haven't heard back from the shark - but it's early days yet I suppose. I've got mixed feelings again about moving jobs. Maybe I should stay and sort things out where I am. The more autonomous I get the better things get I have to say.

I have decided not to let work get in the way of ttc, so I'm going to try to push aside all my reservations on that front and just concentrate on me and DH and how we feel about having a third person join our little family.

Off to MIL for lunch now, then hitting the shops for birthday shopping!

AmandaCooper · 06/11/2010 11:03

You better tell him again. Silly men!

bebejones · 06/11/2010 10:28

Yes I did tell him, he sort of shrugged & said 'ok'! I'm sure it's just some kind of slective hearing or more likely selective memory!!

If the job through the shark works out that might that help your TTC plans? I know what you mean about needing to feel n control, my DH is the same. Sometimes I get really wobbly if I feel like things are spiralling & I get terrible anxiety. But more recently I have found that sometimes I just need to jump in with both feet & try not to overthink things. Baby number 2 is very much jump in kind of thing, if I think about it too much I think I would be far more scared. Just wish DH would get 'there' faster!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 06/11/2010 08:27

Your DH does actually know why you stopped your meds though surely!

AmandaCooper · 06/11/2010 08:26

I don't think he means it to be honest, I think he just needs to feel in control of a scary process. Last night we lay in bed reading MN together and talking about baby names. It might not be far off.
