Old thread here

Welcome aboard, make yourselves comfy I have a feeling it's going to be a bumpy ride! Wink

Bebe I hope you get it sorted out, what a pain!

I do have some sympathy for DH. It must be only too easy to crack now and then and offer me a crumb, to have a break from being cast as the bad guy all the time. It's me who reneged on the agreement not to have children and there's many on here who'd say that's the end of the matter.

bebejones · 15/11/2010 08:34

AC - he changes his mind like the wind your DH doesn't he?! Hmm As for 'lunatic cult', how rude!!! MN is a great source of emotional support for a lot of women wanting children! Which maybe the women on that other thread ought to realise as well!

Good luck for the telephone interview!

Having a nightmare start to the day! The toilet has blocked! This happens alot, partly to do with the ridiculous & old drain system in our Victorian house (toilet not that old obviously) so now I have to go & get some drain clearing stuff. Not fun, DH will probably spend most of his evening having to sort it out, otherwise we will have to call a plumber!

Got a very busy day today, so probably ought to leave the asylum MN! Wink

I do have the power of the train! Thanks JS. I'm really confused now. Should I quit MN and get counselling, as requested, just so I can say I've been reasonable and given it a shot? Perhaps couples counselling would make more sense. Does anyone know how you go about organising such a thing?

JustShaggingForNow · 15/11/2010 07:52

AC you're not the only one on here! Very cross at your DH for his "lunatic cult" comment. We could say the same about football or rugby fans.....!

Hope he was just having a bad day and saying things he didn't mean.

Good luck for tomorrow's telephone interview. I know what you mean about not being able to pick up on body language clues but am sure you will be brilliant. Plus, you have the power of the train on your side!!!

AmandaCooper · 15/11/2010 07:10

Maybe he is right, I do seem to be talking to myself...

AmandaCooper · 15/11/2010 07:09

Oops I stand corrected: the September bus appears to be special and has turned up two weeks before schedule! Nannyl is already aboard!

Sadly DH made it only too clear last night (and not in a nice way) that I won't be on board this bus or any other ever and that I am to quit this "lunatic cult" MN that is "causing me to want to have children" and "see a psychologist". Sad

AmandaCooper · 14/11/2010 22:43

I'm sure she's joking. Or maybe running around after all her DC has driven her bonkers.

Anyway I just got back from a deliciously relaxing and hugely indulgent spa weekend in London with my sis and cousin, so I can hardly get mad. Was enthusiastically sharing the gospel of TCOYF in the jacuzzi, which I think they found quite odd!

Well done Strawberry on your powerboat course, I hope the luck of this thread holds out for my interview! Bebe your DH just has to buckle under the awesome power of this MN thread, you cannot fail. Also your list if awesome. Well done!

JS I second what's been said about the job, it must be a nice confidence boost, which is something you can carry forward into your new role. What a shame noone is motivated to nip these problems in the bud and their minds are only focusing now it's too late.

Squirrel the interview is a telephone interview on Tuesday. I really hate telephone interviews, it's so hard when you're not face to face with someone to gauge whether you're saying the right things. I know the poster on that other thread probably didn't mean to criticise us, I supported everything else she said, particularly thinking of my morning after pill escapade. Thanks for soothing me!

AmandaCooper · 14/11/2010 22:25

The sooner we get on with it the better, those of us without DC are upsetting the natives with our childlessness!

MumNWLondon Sun 14-Nov-10 21:00:35 I have less of a problem with dads posting than with people who don't have children posting.

Confused
AmandaCooper · 14/11/2010 22:11

Haven't read anything - just wanted to say:

Ten days till the September bus arrives!!! Form a nice orderly queue ladies and have your tickets ready for inspection.

George and Jake, our bags please!

nannyl · 14/11/2010 21:29

hello strawberry

congrats on your powerboat course Smile
I have level 3 and my daddy is a power boat instructor!
I love zooming around in a RIB Smile (ca also sail dingies, yachts and motor yachts!)

bebe why not join us on the september bus anyway?

Ive got a manic week ahead so will read this thread but not get much chance to reply!

bebejones · 14/11/2010 21:12

That sounds like fun!! Much more interesting than my weekend!

Nannyl - was considering stepping on the September bus Confused just to wave at everyone! Alot of TTC depends on what AF decides to do because of my 'safe' date of 24th Dec. So technically I could be on for a September baby (if I can convince DH, although that is looking a bit more positive). Don't want to 'jump the gun', coz I won't be able to take up a seat til the 24th...or anytime after the 10th if I'm still awaiting AF! Who knows?!

Hello everybody!

Congratulations on 12 weeks and interview jbells!
Congratulations on new (BFH free) job JS!
Congratulations on interview AC!
Congratulations on test results (and thoroughness of list) bebe!
Congratulations on engagement 100years!

Phew....Busy old week on here!

I have been really busy, sorry for not posting much for a while but I have been reading and trying to keep up :)

I did a (don't laugh) powerboat driving course this weekend and passed my assessment! Yey! I can now help out a bit more with providing safety cover for children doing water activities.

catch you later ladies :)

bebejones · 14/11/2010 19:14

I'm not sure! Cycles still a bit all over the place :( No signs of OV as yet! But am about CD14 Confused Will wait til CD1 I think, just so I start off on the right foot!

OP posts:
nannyl · 14/11/2010 18:32

bebe where are you i this cycle?

if more than 7 days before your ovulate then could start now, other wise not much point until day 1!

bebejones · 14/11/2010 18:19

Nannyl - That fruit will be intoxicating!!! :o I miss lazy Sunday's of just 'floating' about!

I know it's odd being so upset over losing a scarf, but my Grandma bought it for me for my 21st so I was quite attached to it! So glad I found it!

DD ate not a single bite of dinner! Wits end!

Thinking about starting temping again! Confused Should I start now, or Day 1 of next cycle?

OP posts:
nannyl · 14/11/2010 18:09

evening all

bebe glad you have found your scarf, and 100 years i dont know how you have kept quiet! dont think i could!

We had the opposite last night... normally at a weekend one of wakes ups earlier than during the week Hmm, and only occasionaly might be get half an hour or so before one of us wakes...
but not last night... i didnt wake up until 9am and oh was still fast asleep. (have def learnt to do my temps while 3/4 asleep now!)

Had a nice day..
did some school paper work this morning while OH pressure washed his mums drive...
then we took the dog for another lovely walk.

Back for the grand prix Hmm which OH watched while i ironed, and sewed back on a button, the OH volunteered to wash my car Grin

I have cooked us a spag bol (which we have just eaten) and done all the prep for the stuff to throw in the slow cooker tomorrow. (I have a very boring full staff meeting so wont be home until late Sad
Still have no oven but OH has ordered it (through his company Grin) so i really hope to have it fitted next weekend so i can get on with my Xmas cake.

bebejones · 14/11/2010 16:45

Must have been something in the air, I had an awful night too! At 5 I came down to 'sleep' on the sofa...didn't help! :( Feel exhausted now!

Quick and simple dinner tonight, Gnocci with pesto YUM! :)

That must be driving you mad to not be able to tell the whole world! Hope your DH-to-be hurries up & tells the remaining people! Wink

I never do ironing if I can help it Hmm Body heat irons out creases :o

Oh, I found my scarf, I wasn't going mad...DD had hidden it!

OP posts:
100years · 14/11/2010 15:53

bebe - hugs, if it helps I've never had the plot to lose. LOL.

I am hoping OH hurries up telling the rest of his people, he only has 4 I think left on the list of people and to be fair has told loads so far, I just want to now make it all public and being able to talk about it properly and show off my necklace which I am now wearing, but won't be able to at work because I don't want to have to say 'but don't put anything on facebook'

Done some ironing - pah - made some soup and some marinade as we are having burritos for tea so it's spicy chicken here.

Very tired, slept badly last night :(

bebejones · 14/11/2010 11:19

100 - It might work with soya milk, I'd prob add a tad more water into the batter. Confused

Feeling mega emotional today, was near tears at the remembrance day service at church. :( Listening to the bugler play the last post I could feel myself welling up! Must be hormones, am mid cycle & having a wobble! Plus have lost my favourite purple scarf. Probably left it in church but I can't even remember if I actually had it on when I left the house (which is what is annoying me most tbh)!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. It seems to have gone by so fast, can't believe it's nearly time for lunch on Sunday!!

OP posts:
100years · 13/11/2010 20:35

Mmmm love toad in the hole, not had it since I stopped having dairy, bit scared to try it with soya milk, but I will do soon. Unless I just bite the bullet and have it with normal milk and hope that I don't get any side effects.

bebejones · 13/11/2010 16:55

100 - I was so fully prepared to be 'trying' for ages with DD, and I didn't even make it to AF being late! (I just knew I was PG, can't explain it) I got a BFP 3 days before AF was due!! Tested again a week later just to makes sure :o Don't know how I will feel next time around if it doesn't happen straight away. I guess, like you, I'll be quite upset everytime AF arrives, even though I'm expecting it (again) to take ages! Can't see how I could possibly be so lucky to catch first time again!

Squirrel - might attempt to discuss it with DH tonight. England have won the rugby & I think Spurs are about to beat Blackburn so he is in a good mood! :o

Must go & serve dinner. (Toad in the hole, with mash...proper autumn food!)

OP posts:
100years · 13/11/2010 16:17

Cross post as I was talking to OH for some of the time I was posting.

I was talking at work the other night, just generally as I had taken a call to a maternity case, and she was talking about when she had sex ed at school years ago (she is in her 50's) that they were explaining how it all works and she said it seemed like a miracle that anyone actually ever got preg. She actually got caught first time with both of hers. I too am really worried about how I will be if I get my period this month, I think there will be some tears, and maybe a touch of irrationality to me at the time, but you can't carry on like that and will then look forward to trying again the next month. I'm kind of in a way preparing myself for AF arriving not in an I want it to come, but in a just think it's only the first month and it can take ages.

We have agreed to have a few months of just doing it as and when (at least ever other day) and seeing what happens. I am still temping, as I will hopefully see when ov has occurred, and then if in say 4 months I'm still without a child inside me then we will look at doing more stuff eg OPKs. I know it's kind of a waiting game, and so far I'm OK about it.

100years · 13/11/2010 16:09

bebe, yay for the blood tests coming back fine. I hope your DH will come up with a long list of pros and a short list of cons for you, but I agree ask him to think of the list a way in advance. Sounds like you have a really hard job of trying to 'convince' him, I hope it is sorted soon for you.

WhyWait, we have discussed things and I think we are going to have a few months of just DTD as much as we can (at least every other day) and then seeing what happens, if it doesn't work then I will start doing OPKs.

bells, sometimes you build up to a certain date and then get to it and it all feels different to how you thought it would so maybe that's why you aren't out there shouting it from the rooftops!

JS, blimey, sounds like they really don't want you to go. Is there an actual way around working for BFH?

squirrel, finish off xmas shopping? I haven't even started!

nannyl, 5 weeks, not long now :o

Well we went shopping this morning, and I have actually got a different one to the one I had seen on the internet, but it's a load nicer, and more sparkly :) And I did buy the earrings to match :) Feck. I spent £400 on 2 little earrings!!!! But hey it's a special thing. And no i cannot wait until I get to show them off. I think OH has only a couple of other people to tell now, so I am hoping that come mid week we will be shouting it from the roof tops. I just love it when he talks about us getting married. :o

nannyl · 13/11/2010 15:56

oops sorry squirrel! obviously got confused somewhere down the line.

Im quite an orgaanised person and i do plan things and like things 'just so'.... the thing that worries me is that i cant make myself get pregnant Sad...

all i can do is read up and do my best to do everything right and hope for the best, and if it doesnt work 1st time keep trying.

Im almost scared of not getting pregnant 1st month Sad, and i have been reading this morning, the bit about how a fertilised egg is likely to be naturally rejected by your body anyway, so im now worrying about that but trying not to as theirs nothing i can do about that.... trying to convince myself that people DO get pg and eggs DO implant so it should for me too, but i hate that fact that no matter what i do i cant control it Confused

squirrel007 · 13/11/2010 10:34

bebe there's a chance your DH will come up with both pros and cons that you haven't thought of, and he's more likely to be persuaded by his own arguments than yours :) that's the theory behind getting him to write a list!

nannyl I'm not at 12 weeks yet, more like 6 or 7. You sound so organised with ttc, I'm impressed that you have everything mapped out!

quod not sure if I'm adjusting well or not! I can't quite believe I'm pg yet and am worried that something will go wrong. It didn't help that Lily Allen's miscarriage (very sad :( ) meant lots of stuff in the news last week about how common it is! I'm also worried that I've suddenly got boring as all I want to do in the evenings is sleep. I'm normally very active and busy and, for me, adjusting to taking it easy for a while and looking after myself is proving the hardest thing.
