Nannyl - I know before (last winter) on this thread someone convinced their GP to let them have it before TTC. I get flu jabs anyway (coz of the MS) so doesn't actually apply to me. But probably worth talking to your GP. I think that if I was PG in 'flu season' I would have it. But I know it is a really personal thing. I guess this year it'll be about 2 months before TTC that I have it.

well tbh i have a wedding coming up, then on holiday for a week, then friends up, so realisticly wont get a chance to have it until 1st week of november, which would be either 6 or 10 weeks ish before TTC, depending on if we opt for ttc in dec or jan

AmandaCooper · 03/10/2010 10:31

I thought that. How long before ttc would you have it?

nannyl · 03/10/2010 09:46

i think they do BUT if planning to get pg, (as i am) surely a doctor would allow us the choose to have it before we have the baby developing inside us? cause there is NO WAY i will risk taking it at any stage of my pregnancy

AmandaCooper · 03/10/2010 09:44

Jbells did you have a load of crazy pg dreams last time too? The bit where your baby turned into a cat is weird! I dreamt about babies too - I dreamt that all my friends who have babies and young children all descended on my house at the same time and there were kids everywhere!

Worried that we have all got the blues at the same time. Hope the whole winter's not going to be like this! Actually what I really hope is that we all get out BFPs very soon and stop feeling so fed up about waiting and start feeling fed up about morning sickness, stretch marks and impending labour instead!

Not sure about the flu jab nannyl. I've never had one before but it does sound like a good idea. Don't they only have a fixed amount though earmarked for the elderly, pg women etc?

nannyl · 03/10/2010 09:09

has anyone here read this mumsnet swine flu vac thread?

I certainly will NOT be having this (or any other) jab while pregnant (and i dont really believe in vaccines full stop) but am wondering if i should make an appt with GP now to discuss having this jab, as i want it before i TTC, and it has dauned on me that Dec is only 2 months away, so if im gonna have this, the sooner the better.

had anyone else thought about this?

jbells · 03/10/2010 09:05

Little girl Crying, "Mummy, quick! Get me a glass of cider!". "Why" asked mum. "I cut my hand on a thorn and want the pain to go!".
Confused the mother poured some cider. She immediately dunked her hand in it.
"Ouch! It still hurts! This cider doesn?t work!"she whined.". "Why did you think that cider would ease ur pain?".
"Well, I heard my big sister say that whenever she gets a prick in her hand, she can?t wait to get it in cider".

bebejones · 02/10/2010 19:50

Do you know any good jokes?

OP posts:
100years · 02/10/2010 19:44

bebe sorry you are fed up. :( Want me to tell a joke? (bearing in mind I'm not sure how long I will be on here!)

100years · 02/10/2010 19:43

bebe yeah I suppose it is, feels quite normal for me now as I have done a lot over the summer, but there was a time not so long ago where I thought 15 was a long way. I must admit to having a little bit of discomfort, something I hadn't had over the summer, maybe I was just cycling differently.

strawberry not really trained for anything in particular, did Manchester to Chester in July, was a smidge over 50 miles, was a good day and I enjoyed it, was very tough though, loads of hills. Turbos are only around £120 for a decent silent one, I think it's well worth it, if you think a gym membership would cost that for 3 or 4 months and the turbo will last for years.

I love my OH, he is ace, he's so supportive of me, and seems to understand the hormones more than I do! We are seeing some friends next weekend hopefully, both lots of friends have a new baby, one will be about 3 weeks, the other will be about 6 weeks, I forget, time goes by sometimes, and I have pre-warned him what I will be like on the way home, he said "you don't need to actually tell me that" or words to that effect, he already knew! Bless him.

bebejones · 02/10/2010 19:33

AC/Quod - maybe hypnotherapy might work...like it does if you want to give up smoking Hmm Wink

100 - Shock that's a loooooong bike ride, my bum feels sore at the thought of it! Wink

Back a little over 24hours & DH is doing my head in!! Moping around, being snappy, doing work! Feeling a bit fed up! :(

Evening all folks :)

How are we all?

I've been on my bike again :) Just over 23 miles done today, not bad off a night shift. Just waiting for a roast dinner to finish and then it's grub time.

Hopefully be around a bit later on, if not I will be about tomorrow.

Any news, I've added myself to the list and added jbells as I thought she ought to be on the list.

bebejones - still waiting to TTC #2(less than 3 months to go)
nannyl waiting to TTC #1. been here since may and waiting until Xmas to start trying.
jbells Train driver Wink
100years 'still' waiting to TTC #1, been here since Aug, hopefully TTC in November(was originally Jan 2011)

AmandaCooper · 02/10/2010 18:06

Ha ha you nutter! I think we should sell some bullshit therapy anyway make some money to find our baby addiction and then have as many as we want!

I think in the past women were probably facing the opposite problem i.e. how to stop getting pg before it eventually killed them!

Quodlibet · 02/10/2010 17:58

PS Baby just remembered I had a dream last night where I was trying to make a fancy-dress costume to go to a party dressed as 'a frayed knot'. As in 'I'm afraid not'.(!?!?!) It was rubbish (my costume). My subconscious is clearly just upchucking total nonsense!

Quodlibet · 02/10/2010 17:54

AC: Toss a coin?

Oh dear. Clearly we're all fucked if even having a baby doesn't sort out the obsessive broodiness.

Gender reassignment anyone?

Do you think, in days gone by when women didn't have any proper means of birth control (aside from restraint) and you couldn't plan your families, they didn't really think about it anywhere near as much as we do?

(but then again they were all probably too busy mangling their washing etc...and of course didn't have the internet to stoke the flames...)

Eggshells rather evenly distributed in our house at the moment; DP really really really really stressed with a big work deadline, which seems to be taking over both our lives atm and feels like it has been going on forever and will continue to do so...

I tell you what AC if we could come up with an AntiBroody therapy we'd earn a bloody fortune.

AmandaCooper · 02/10/2010 17:32

He doesn't want to have anything to do with the decision, which I don't blame him for - he's being lovely but he's walking on eggshells all the time.

Just found out one of my best friends from Uni is pg expecting in March.

bebejones · 02/10/2010 16:42

Didn't tell DH, don't want to scare him! :o

Totally up to you about throwing them out.
On the one hand, you hate the condoms & don't want another MAP situation.
On the other hand it makes it hard to chart & is obviously not sitting well with you or your DH.

Interesting that he wanted you to throw them out, what does he want to 'use'/do?

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 02/10/2010 15:57

Should I throw them out?! Lol at the naughty ttc dreams! Have you told your DH about this?

bebejones · 02/10/2010 15:38

AC - have you thrown them out? Broodiness is definitely not cured by having a baby. Wink Soon after you have one your hormones go haywire & alot of people find that they want another one really quickly. Must be Mother Nature's way of making you forget about labour!

Had quite filthy dreams last night Blush but was actually all about TTC! Blush I am not 'safe' from my broodiness even while sleeping!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 02/10/2010 14:25

I don't know Quodlibet. I spent a long time researching whether there was any kind of therapy or medication that could help with keeping the obsessive thoughts at bay. I thought there might be books on it but couldn't find anything. Horror stories about motherhood helped for a while by putting me off!

What does worry me is that from reading MN it seems that broodiness isn't even cured by having a baby. You hear people on here wishing for a baby a couple of days after they've just had one, or when they've already got six!

AmandaCooper · 02/10/2010 12:46

Morning all. Things are still up in the air this morning. I took the first pill in the packet but now I want to throw the rest of them away and DH has told me to do it. He was completely against the idea last night as well. So it's back to charting!

Nannyl that's exactly like my chart last month. I had a definite sustained rise and my post OV temps never dropped below the fertility friend coverline but some of them will be below the TCOYF coverline once I input them. Really spiky chart.

Quodlibet · 02/10/2010 12:19

AC sorry it's your turn to feel shit. As strawberry said, now you have done temping and know that you're ovulating, will that be one less thing to worry about if you're on the pill? One thing I've realised is that you've got to choose your contraception on balance of the effects it has on your body and the effects it has on your mind - probably best to go with the one that stresses you out the least, whatever that is? I think I'm in the same position as you and don't really know what the answer is, tbh.

What I'd really like someone to tell me is how I can stop thinking about something too much - to the extent where it's distracting me from other areas of my life. I feel like that's something (from reading boards on here) a lot of us have an issue with.

amummy - I could probably ignore the rats but I HATE the cold, urrgh. Sorry to hear your boss is being such an arse too.

What are everyone's weekend plans? DP is working non-stop at the moment so he's not much fun, but it's my sister's birthday this weekend so going out tonight for that.
