I don't know how I would cope if I had stopped contraception and had to start it again :( Hugs

AmandaCooper · 08/10/2010 12:32

JS I am exactly the same. Now that I am back on the pill I've lost all my momentum. Can't face the train, despite the total loveliness of all you excellent ladies... or thinking too much about it at all.

100years · 08/10/2010 12:15

bebe yep I have to say that my OH is the best person to me ever, I've never had anyone do as much or be as thoughtful kind and caring as him. And I would just like to take a moment to say I love him so much sometimes it takes my breath away. Right sicky stuff over and done with now. :o

AC I hope so, it's not actually been confirmed that it is def next month, talked about twice, he said good when I said I was at the docs tonight, but until it actually happens gah, and I'm hoping it is only a few weeks away, I think I will burst if anything changes, patience patience I know, but it's all I fucking think about, much as I try to change that.

JS Sorry to hear you are feeling like that, I am feeling grr and wanting to be trying now, Envy of anyone who is preg etc etc but I feel I get chance to talk about it here which helps me and stops me from inwardly going mad. Keep popping in though and saying hi, we will be here when you get on the train.

I'm predicting a few tears or watery eyes for me this weekend, tomorrow we are going to see some friends who had a baby in August, then on Sunday we are seeing some closer friends who had a baby a couple of weeks ago. I know how this will end for me, and much as I am so happy to see them, have a hold etc etc I will still be sitting there wishing it was me.

Docs this afternoon :o yay

Quodlibet · 08/10/2010 10:17

Hey all

JS sorry to hear you're struggling. Are you feeling a bit stuck-in-the-same-place? You're not the only one, we still have no fixed date to TTC, just a series of 'definitely after x'. We'll all get there eventually I'm sure. Sorry you're finding the present a bit rubbish though.

I went to a brilliant event the other night which was a panel discussion organised by people in my industry to talk about how working in this particular creative field can work with having children. Oh my god it was so helpful! Particularly hearing some women who I really respect and who are at the top of their game talking about how it has made them more focussed in their work as well as totally transforming their lives for the better. Clearly everyone in the room was breathing a massive sigh of relief at it being discussed openly, as it's not usually discussed at all..HmmAnyway it really helped me to put my own work situation in perspective and to look at the positives rather than the negatives.

JustShaggingForNow · 08/10/2010 09:39

Hi All!!
Been trying not to come on here too much lately as I'm really struggling with the whole broody thing and the fact that most people on here are going to be TTC very soon makes me a bit sad :(

Hope that you're all well xxx

AmandaCooper · 08/10/2010 08:59

Hi Bebe!

AmandaCooper · 08/10/2010 08:58

Hello everyone! 100years you are so close! I hope the trip away is the start of ttc for you. Sorry to hear about the migraines, they sound a right pain to manage.

Will try and pop in over the weekend to catch up on everyone's news. Have a nice day all x

bebejones · 08/10/2010 08:57

Hello?!?!

Have we pulled into a station?

Hope everyone is ok? :)

Hello train!

100 - very Envy of your holiday! I'd love to be surprised, what a lovely OH!

So tired today been very busy! And annoyingly, whilst out, had to make an emergency dash for tampons...23 day cycle this month!! Hmm Very very weird. But I am sure it is my body's way of scuppering plans. ILs are having DD for a few hours on Saturday! But 'practise' TTCing is now out the window! Angry Really hoping cycles settle down over the next couple of months! At least it explains why I've had the muchies all week! :o

100years · 07/10/2010 09:46

I was knocked off my bike last year, had pretty bad concussion for best part of a month and 3 hospital trips in a week, but 10 days after I was back on my bike. I think I will be covered in high viz stuff when I cycle if pg. I am an SPD user and am quite confident in them, have had a couple of silly forgetting to unclip incidents but to be fair I could cycle on normal pedals and my foot would slip off, so I am staying as I am. We shall see how long the plan lasts though.

4 weeks today and we are going away, on the little surprise trip OH booked for us, this morning he said 'guess where we'll be in a month' :o Woohoo I'm hoping we leave the pregnancy delayment devices(condoms) at home.

I'm off for a walk in a bit, it's really misty here and I don't fancy risking a bike ride in it, so a walk it will be, prob do 3 or 4 miles.

I'm trying so hard to not think/talk about my next period and the thought of us possibly trying next month, it's so hard though. I want OH to bring up the topic instead of it being me all the time(which isn't every day but I do bring up the topic more) The last week has actually gone really quickly, so I'm hoping the next few do the same, may have something to do with the fact I've been working lots and sleeping the rest of the time.

WYorksLass · 07/10/2010 09:35

100years - i'm glad you're feeling better. I missed Pilates last night due to a headache, fortunately Ibuprofen and a bath sorted it. I'm very grateful i never get migraines, it must be horrendous.

OH started and i re-started our new healthy regime this morning. We got up at 6.15, went to the gym and then had banana + blueberry milkshakes for brekkie followed by scrambled egg in homemade bread. I am feeling very virtuous :-) Hopefully we can keep it up!

I fully intend to exercise when pg although i am a bit scared of falling off my bike (so deffo no spd's for the cyclists!). I will probably mostly be walking, swimming and some Pilates with the odd run and tootle along the canal on the bike.

squirrel007 · 07/10/2010 09:19

Glad you're feeling better 100years :) I am still planning to cycle (and run) when pg - I'm not a hardcore cyclist but do use my bike as my main mode of transport, so it'd be a pain to have to walk everywhere. I have read that cycling in the third trimester gets difficult as balance is affected, but I will see how things go.

strawberrypie hope you find a way not to have to work on your week off!

bebe love the chic chip cookies! I just know I am going to bake far too much when I have young kids!

100years · 06/10/2010 20:01

everyone(that's my cheap way of saying your names individually) I have cut out a lot of foods, caffeine and red wine are triggers along with cheese(not eaten any since 1994) and too much dairy stuff, along with being tired, sleeping too much/not enough, sometimes my period, strong smells, crying before bed, missing a meal, cold air on my head, sometimes I can eat chocolate, other times I can't.
I can sometimes sense I am going to get one, and other times they hit me without me realising, and sometimes I click and realise that the warning signs were there, other times I just get them and cannot put a finger on why or notice any warning signs. For me pre-migraine I am lethargic, yawn a lot, crave sweet food. It's a nightmare really. I'm also on preventers for it, fat lot of good they are doing at the moment. :(

But I am feeling better today, not 100% but loads better than I was.

quod I am now using OH's computer, we are sharing his as mine was slow and it's nice to share, except the first day I used it I accidentally pressed open on my pictures, I had thousands in there, it made everything freeze and I couldn't do anything with it till he got home, I was hoping I hadn't broken it entirely. Back up is the way forward, we do ours all the time.

Yay for the cyclists amongst us. Right then who is going to cycle when pg, I fully intend to, and intend to for as long as I can physically sit on the bike without budging my bump every time I pedal, I know someone who cycled right up to their 38th/39th week. My mum was cycling when peg with me, she did fall off her bike, I say it's got a lot to do with how I am now Wink

I've applied for a slightly different position at work, it's only a temporary secondment, but it would mean better hours and more pay during that time, eep.

Just been out for a run, that ended up being a run for part of it, and then reset the garmin and walked the rest as my legs felt odd running, only slightly slower walking, so I think I will stick with that for a while

Quodlibet · 06/10/2010 16:56

Hi all

DP is quite cheerfully getting on with it all today so data crash was definitely not as sickeningly bad as we first thought. His ability to look on the bright side is one of the things I do love about him most! Have had to pay out my penance on Tottenham Court Rd this morning though buying another drive, bleugh.

Strawberrypie I am another cyclist too - definitely not of your fitness level, more toddling sedately round being a Pashley Princess! I used to bomb it around on a hybrid but a slipped disc a few years ago means cycling leaning forward does my back in now, so I'm content to be upright.

Bebe hurrah for your illustration work! And your creative christmassing sounds brilliant, I love handmade presents, think they communicate so much more love than things off the shelves. Have you got any pics of things we can see?

100 - are you feeling any better?

bebejones · 06/10/2010 16:13

Oh and well done on your 2lbs! :)

bebejones · 06/10/2010 16:12

Strawberry that sucks having to work on your week off! Your poor DH job hunting, can he do any supply work at all? My Uncle only does supply & a friend of my mums does supply work, often they take on the supply teachers permanently.

My DH might have a job but rarely gets paid Hmm things are tough & being a nice guy he always makes sure the staff are paid before himself, so gets his 'wages' in dribs and drabs! Makes life interesting!

On bright side I have the possibility of doing some paid illustration work. Plus being 'creative' I am making most of the Christmas presents. Have a cupboard full of jams/chutneys, have made applique cushions & also doing some painted glass vases/cocktail glasses. Oh and done some small stuffed toys for the childerbeast in the family! Wink :o Busy busy busy!

Made choc chip cookies today with DD, definitely not diet food Blush & really need to be good after my holiday blow out! :)

Hi everyone!

Great to know another cyclist on the thread wyorkslass!

100years my MIL (sort of, DP and I are not married but you know what I mean) gets migraines regularly and they all seem to be due to chocolate or red wine when she is hormonal. If AF type hormones affect you then maybe you would be ok during pregnancy??

I bet you felt sick quod when the hard drive broke! What a nightmare! Thank goodness it was not as bad as you thought. :)

Great news re: coil squirrell! How exiting to think you could already be pregnant!

Hope you feel better soon bebe, looking on the bright side at least your DH has a job........my DP has not managed to find a teaching position yet, I might have to do a week as a locum (in what was supposed to be my week off) before I start my new job to get some extra money :( Boo.

But never mind, nearly the weekend now (!) and am going out for a meal with friends and a nice cycle ride if not hung over so looking forward to that! Have also lost 2 lbs this week after STS last week :)

squirrel007 · 06/10/2010 12:38

Sorry about the migrane 100years, hope you're feeling better today.

quod hope your DP managed to replace all his work! Strangely, someone on another forum said they did the exact same thing last week, and lost a lot of his work, so you're not alone.

bebe I think the little niggly things that people do when they're stressed can be far worse than the big things. Hope your DH can relax soon!

bebejones · 06/10/2010 06:55

Oh dear Quod! That sounds exactly like the kind of thing I would do. I am mega clumsy! Blush Hope your DH managed to 'rescue' his work!

It's just niggly things that are bugging me with DH. I know he has a lot going on at work & that it is really stressful, but I just wish he could be a little bit more considerate. It'll pass!

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 05/10/2010 22:21

Oh Bebe sorry to hear you're upset and annoyed with DH. You've had such a lot on your plate recently. Sometimes having a bit of a weep gets it all out though?!?

100years oh you poor thing, my DP gets the occasional awful migraine (he used to get more), I've never had one but can see with him that it's excruciating. He definitely gets more of them when he's stressed. It seems like they can sometimes be headed off now if he catches them in time and gets me to do a really thorough massage of his neck and shoulders (well, that's what he's persuaded me, anyhow!)

We had a total disaster in our house this pm when I accidentally pulled DP's external hard-drive off the table, and it fell on the floor and broke. He's been working day and night for weeks for an unbelievably important deadline next week and for a moment we both thought that all his work - and months of previous (irreplaceable creative) work - might all be on that drive. Really really awful couple of hours while we frantically googled 'hard drive rescue' places (££££!!!!!!) and checked files. Spent the early evening feeling gut-wrenchingly guilty. However, turns out it's not as bad as first thought and that lots of it was backed up in other places. But he's now having to work all night to replace the stuff that wasn't. :(
Am now providing a penitent beer- and takeaway-fetching and massage service(!) to try to make up for it.

bebejones · 05/10/2010 21:22

100 - :( Migraines are horrid. My GP used to say that chocolate was a trigger Hmm But for me anxiety used to bring them on, until I learnt to cope with that I went through a phase (mid teens) of having one every day. Now they are rare but I know when one is coming & can avoid it by lying down in a dark room (cliche I know) for a while. Really hope you feel better soon

Squirrel - glad it all went ok :)

Been massively over broody & weepy tonight. Have been perusing the Next Christmas catalogue & got all upset over the maternity clothes, then the baby clothes set me off again! Hmm

100years · 05/10/2010 20:00

squirrel Yay for you and your coil removal :)

I've got another F**king migraine, I have no idea what the doc will say when I ask what I will be able to take when I am (hopefully) pg, if it's only paracetamol I can see a lot of time spent in bed. I'm going to start a journal of stuff to see if I can pinpoint anything, having cut certain food groups out I am struggling to work out why I am still suffering. OH thinks this may have something to do with my mood, as I was down in the dumps yesterday in 'coping' mode as he called it, I shall be monitoring food, mood, sleep, exercise and anything else I can think of.

The days are ticking by slowly, but they are ticking away :o

squirrel007 · 05/10/2010 19:18

Maybe George and Jake decided to put on some entertainment to distract everyone ;-)

Well, I jumped! Having the coil out is so much easier than having it put in, but now it's kind of weird. The nurse made a point about how I could get pregnant from sex in the last week - very scary thought. She was also quite relaxed about alcohol and caffeine, which was good to hear as I'm not keen to give either up entirely.

quod I think people have a tendency to be persuaded by thoughts similar to their own. So when reading a thread with loads of different opinions on you tend to notice the ones similar to your own, and disregard others. I have just about accepted that life will change completely after a baby, and will be tough for the first months, but I don't feel scared about that anymore. Just a strange sense of inevitability!

The work satisfaction thing is something I'm still not sure of though. I can't imagine not working and being a sahm, but equally I think that both of us working full time will become a massive juggling act. It's something I think we will both have to think about more, but I'm lucky in that DH understands how I feel and I know we'll decide together.

AmandaCooper · 05/10/2010 18:31

I am here but still at work.
