JS lol, it is a life saver i discovered it after having DD as i dont have time to wash my hair as often as needed now, also they do it in home and bargain a lot cheaper than boots :)

JustShaggingForNow · 15/10/2010 14:10

OMG - Ladies I just had to share this with you!!

I have just discoverd a life saving (ok well a slight exaggeration there) product in Boots. Dry Shampoo. How did I not know about this amazing product before now?!?!

Since coming off the pill my hair has become more greasy and so I need to wash it every day (yawn) I got up late today and didn't have time to wash and style it before work and we are going out tonight so I just bought a can of this stuff. Wasn't sure how rubbing my scalp was going to make it look less lank and horrible but I gave it a go and I now have bouncy, fresh, non-greasy hair! It's a bloody miracle!!!

Going to keep a can in my handbag at all times now!

How is everybodys Friday afternoon going??

jbells · 15/10/2010 12:33

JS- glad your interview went well its always better when there is more than one position :) fingers crossed its good news

100years- sorry your feeling poo, hopefully a gud nites sleep will improve things

100years · 15/10/2010 11:55

Hi everyone,

Well I've taken the horrible decision of not travelling with my OH today away, I have booked a coach ticket for tomorrow which cost me the grand total of £5.50 so if I feel better tomorrow then I will head down there, if not then £5.50 isn't too much money to 'waste' if you know what I mean. I may need some cheering up later after he has left - he's still here at the moment.

Damn the lurgy :( [cries] Why isn't there a crying emoticon?

jbells · 15/10/2010 10:41

thanks AC- to be honest if i have got a case i would like to make a discrimination case as to unfair dismissal, as i think they way they have treated me is appalling and they have been able to get away with it for too long, i spoke to my boss today and aparantly she doenst know anything and does not deal with contracts and for me to speak to the other boss there when he is back of holiday on the 25th of october! she obviously knows that my contract has been ended since im not there

JustShaggingForNow · 15/10/2010 09:47

Morning all

jbells it sounds like your employer is being a total twat pain in the arse, hopefully AC's brilliatn advice will help you get everything you are owed out of them.

Thanks for all the interview wishes. I think it went really well but by saying that have probably jinxed my chances of getting the job!! The interviewers were really lovely and, thanks to my brilliant recruitment team (I know, a good recruiter and not a shark - I feel pretty luck to have found her!!), I was really well prepared. Now I just need to hope that they liked me more than 3 of the other 5 people then saw as there are 2 jobs open.

Should hear next week so fingers crossed!!

AmandaCooper · 15/10/2010 08:55

Well I suggest you try to get some money out of them - at the very least you will get the money for lost wages up until the end of the contract and for accrued holiday. If they haven't given a reason for the early termination they've left themselves open to a discrimination claim, which you may or may not wish to bring, I certainly wouldn't push you one way or another. Only you know the circumstances and you will have a feeling about whether this is to do with your pregnancy. It's complicated by the fact that there were only 5 weeks left to go though, it's much longer than that till your due date, has your pregnancy been causing you to have a lot of time off or anything?

You are in quite a strong position on a costs basis as the tribunal very rarely orders costs against claimants if they lose, so if you do think you have been discriminated against, in some ways you have nothing to lose by making a claim. There's quite a high probability your employer would settle the claim for a couple of thousand pounds just to make it go away.

jbells · 15/10/2010 08:41

AC- thats the thing i havnt heard from them they had made no reference to terminating my contract early, they obviously knew i was on a weeks holiday i have been there since the end of april it was a 6 month contract, i was contracted to 25 hours a week and had taken no holidays yet except one emergency day as DD was very ill, they have made the past couple of months for me hell, i think they were trying to get me to leave, when i first started it was agreed that i would work 2 8.5 hour days from office and one day from home, then suddenly a few weeks ago he said that arrangement is no longer working and that i would have to do all the hours from the office, i said that i would have to sort out childcare first as this was no our orriginal agreement and that it seemed pointless as i was only there for another 5 weeks on the contract and he was also telling me there is no longer any work for me to do (doesnt make sense, y do u want me to sit in an office for 25 hrs with nothing to do) after this i informed them i was pregnant a wk later i had 2 days of sick suffering with nausea, and generally felt like death, b4 i went on holiday nothing was mentioned as to the end of my contract then i got back and my p45 was in the post with an end date of the 5th of oct which was the date i went on hol, since then i have heard nothing, since then i have spoke to a former collegue and apparantly the boss is on holiday for 2 weeks!

sorry for the long post

100 years- hope u feel better soon
strawberry- 2 days yay bet your xcited

bebe- i wish i cud just be a stay at home mum now, ever since having children, i feel like workplaces dont want to consider me or want to try to make things difficult

AmandaCooper · 15/10/2010 08:37

Oh I'm not thinking of joining another thread - although if we do start ttc in December I will probably add my name to the September bus passenger list just to mark a milestone.

strawberrypie · 15/10/2010 08:28

Hope you feel better soon 100years !

(only two pills left in my packet now.....eek!)

100years · 15/10/2010 08:19

Good morning all. Posting from my sick bed!!! Ended up finishing work early, am feeling pretty rotten to be honest. Supposed to be away this weekend with OH for a race he's doing but not sure that's wise.

I'm not checking any buses out till the time is right. I'm happy in here chatting but I think I need to stay here till we're actually on the way. Need my sanity. I'm already watching a thread on a totally unrelated website about pg women and feeling Envy

Going to try and go back to sleep, although I may have some cereal first.

Have a good day.

AmandaCooper · 15/10/2010 07:57

Shall we wander over to the ticket office, just to window shop, see if there are any special offers, etc?

bebejones · 15/10/2010 07:51

x posts Nannyl! I'm trying not to get my hopes up about the September bus....but it is really exciting!! :)

OP posts:
bebejones · 15/10/2010 07:49

Yes shall be locking myself in the padded carriage for a few hours this morning, clearly there is something wrong with me! Hmm I mean who in their right mind would actually want a baby?! Hmm Wink

I'm hoping he was just joking, it was said in a sort of light hearted way Confused It wasn't even a proper baby conversation!

JS how did it go?

OP posts:
nannyl · 15/10/2010 07:47

oooh!!! thats getting exciting!

I hope to be on the september bus too! Smile

AmandaCooper · 15/10/2010 07:32

How did you go on JS?

Bebe I reckon delusional must qualify you for at least a quick visit to the-padded-carriage-for-women-who-want-crazy-things. Why don't other people's DP react this way?

AmandaCooper · 15/10/2010 07:23

Only just over a week till the August bus arrives, Bebe! The one after that could possibly (and I stress possibly) be ours!!

bebejones · 14/10/2010 21:57

Can't believe there is a July bus! This year is flying past! Can't believe my DD was conceived nearly 3 years ago (she was due in July), doesn't seem possible!

JBells - I can't believe they could do something like that. Surely just sending you that in the post is like firing you, which they can't just do?! Confused Does seem a bit convenient after telling them you were pregnant. Although since your contract was nearly up anyway it's not like they were going to 'lose' you on mat leave!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 14/10/2010 21:05

Do you have any reason to think that it has anything to do with your pregancy, other than the fact that it's quite a coincidence?

What's the reason they have given for early termination?

AmandaCooper · 14/10/2010 21:03

Yes if they terminate your fixed term contract before the end of the term then that is wrongful dismissal. You should, as you say, be compensated for your unpaid wages up to the agreed termination date, plus your accrued holiday pay.

How long have you been employed by them?

bebejones · 14/10/2010 19:41

No tis today Blush

JustShaggingForNow Wed 13-Oct-10 16:11:34
Interview is tomorrow morning....... ARGHHHHH!

Hope it went ok JS!

DH said I was delusional this evening...think it was in reference to having another baby, although I can't be 100% sure Confused

OP posts:
jbells · 14/10/2010 19:35

i think JS interview is tomoro altho i cud be wrong to gudluck JS hope it goes well

strawberrypie · 14/10/2010 18:59

Have I just boobed (ha) and wished JS luck AFTER her interview? Ooops :(

strawberrypie · 14/10/2010 18:56

Good luck for the interview tomorrow JS!!!!!!!!

jbells I'm sure your ex-employers are being naughty doing that. I wonder if the citizens advice would be able to give you any advice for free?

I don't envy you the potty training bebe! I believe it is really difficult to go out much when you are doing it? Very hard work. You'll have to try to imagine DD using her determination for changing the world in the future.......becoming a human rights lawyer or Prime Minister!

I went for a little taster session at the Manchester velodrome today with OH- after our session was over team GB came in and started training! Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton were there! Exiting! (OH offered me a fiver to ask Sir Chris if he had bran flakes for his breakfast-I declined)

:)

FluffyDonkey · 14/10/2010 16:44

100 - shame about your migraine meds. Apparently the only "risk" for mine is that they lower your heart rate which isn't good for mother or baby during birth. I will be stopping them ASAP when I get pregnant though.

Having said that, they don't seem to be doing much good as I have a migraine today - am averaging one a week and am having to invent excuses to leave work early as I'm already known as the "migraine girl" Sad

Anyway, sounds like your DH is looking forward to TTC! Mine also makes random remarks about what I'll be like when pregnant - it's very sweet.

Spent some time looking up baby names today Blush. Very few names that I like and I have an extra challenge cos they've got to work in French and English...
