Bebe, fingers crossed for next weekend's chat then :)

Hey Quod, I was chatting to a friend last night who has a 4 week old, time goes by so fast really, she loves it though.

OH is now home and we have had a curry for tea, first time in us being together that we have ever had a takeaway, it was good, I had lots of chillis and so hoping that will help rid myself of whatever I've got.

Quodlibet · 17/10/2010 19:55

Ooh blimey so much has been going on here!

jbells your (ex) employers sound like right wankers, I reckon you should at least threaten them with a claim if you've got the energy, at least so that they buck their ideas up and treat other people better. That's horrendous.

JS fingers crossed for your interview - when do you find out?

100 sorry you've had a miserable ill weekend, no fun. I'll had something too (throat and chest feel horrid) and felt rubbish yesterday but well enough today to go out for a pub lunch! Hope you get better soon.

My DP is away again til Tuesday eve, it feels like he's been away at least a couple of nights a week for months and months, I do miss him when it's just me here.

bebe I love 'dropped a bollock'! Oops! Hope your friend keeps schtum for you.

Been out for lunch today with my friend who's 20 weeks along - ahhh! Although she's mainly been saying how pregnancy is rubbish and it makes you feel shit - her scan pic was sweet though. There's a few of our circle (some of us work together too) who are out in the open about TTC fairly soon which is nice. We ended up having a big conversation about being self-employed and how it would work when we have kids etc.

Right, cup of tea and rubbish telly time for me I think.

strawberrypie · 17/10/2010 17:07

Great news about the finances bebe! I love it when a plan comes together!

Hope you are feeling better 100years.......the party was good, there were some sights to behold, mainly involving all-in-one lycra numbers (on men). We didn't dress up but it was a good night :)

Have been out for a nice meal today with family and looking forward to starting my new job tomorrow! I also took my last pill today- not looking forward to using condoms for the next few months or having periods again but am looking forward to TTC starting in January :)

bebejones · 17/10/2010 15:31

:( 100, hope you feel better soon & that your OH is back soon to look after you!

DH had a mini finances chat & both agree that we are in a better position that we were a year ago. He has loads of big deals in the pipeline so hopefully things will really pick up when they complete. :) This all works well for me bringing up the TTC thing with him again as he can't throw the 'we are not in a financial position' thing at me again, I can just counter him with this discussion! :o

We are doing Xmas present planning tonight, then I think I'll bring up TTC next weekend. Gently does it!! Wink Don't want to overwhelm him with too much talking & planning all in one weekend!

Hope everyone else is enjoying the Autumn sunshine! It's lovely here, cold, but lovely! :)

Went to bed early last night, didn't help me sleep any better though :( Woke a few times coughing, so I'm not sure I'm any better, not tried talking to anyone yet. OH is on his way home, he did amazing at the race and knocked a huge chunk off his previous personal best, he's worked hard and this race has been his focus, so I am so chuffed for him. He's fucking ace :)

I miss him lots and wish he was here with me now.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend so far.

How was the fancy dress???

100years · 16/10/2010 18:09

Ooh not sure I can stay awake that late, but will try, and we have no way of taping anything thing which is a problem when I work shifts and work 3 out of 6 weekends Confused

100years · 16/10/2010 18:07

Abba - yay, I love fancy dress parties :) I want one

Thanks Strawberry, me too. I will have a look at that programme that may suit me better

strawberrypie · 16/10/2010 18:02

Have you read The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett? They have made a TV adaption that starts tonight starring Lovejoy (oh yes!). I really enjoyed the book so am taping the show.

Also you may change your mind about the party when you discover that it is Abba themed fancy dress. Sad times.

Seriously though I hope you feel better soon x

100years · 16/10/2010 17:39

I tell you what, you can have the lurgy and veg out and I will go party with my OH :) Wink

grass is always greener etc etc

Don't know if I can cope with strictly and/or X-factor, hmmm but they are trashy I give you that, I shall return my verdict later

strawberrypie · 16/10/2010 17:34

Is there any trash on TV tonight???? 100years it is Saturday night therefore Strictly followed by X-factor! You can't get more trashy than that! I am a bit gutted that we are going to a party tonight, I would probably rather veg on the sofa :)

100years · 16/10/2010 16:38

Squirrel, I have had much worse, the down side is I had booked the weekend off on leave to be there with him and I can't be there. Although I am sad I'm not there, I'm not down IYKWIM no point in being a total misery. I did get some fresh air before, but have done nothing since I came back in!

Is there any good trash telly on tonight or am I stuck with DVDs etc?

squirrel007 · 16/10/2010 15:55

100years that's awful about your car - sounds like you're having a rubbish weekend :( Hope things start to look better for you soon!

bebe yeah, that bit when Beth dies just after Jo rushes all the way back to see her... makes me sad just thinking about it Sad Talc doesn't make your hair go grey, unless you use too much!

strawberrypie I don't think I've seen any of the sad films you mention (i've never even seen Bambi Shock) so maybe I'll have to look out for them.

100years · 16/10/2010 10:52

Running, he is doing a half marathon this weekend. I've never been there when he has done a HM before as I have always been working, so I booked this weekend off especially and got struck down by the lurgy. We met at a race where we were both running so that's good.

There are some people who really resent their partners running and make an effort to be a pain in the arse about it, but obviously as I do it too - but prefer my biking we are on the same wavelength.

I shan't be going down there today. I have just spoken to him on the phone, physically before I spoke to him I thought I was feeling no worse/no better, but I couldn't speak to him more than a few words before I started coughing and am out of breath. Can feel it on my chest now :( Feel sadder now than I did, only because he said he now wants to come home and said it in such a way that it made me have a tear in my eye, I am obviously worrying him. :(

He left my car unlocked last night while he was out with some friends and had his sat nav, iPod touch and coat nicked out of the car :( The car is fine and my sat nav is still in there so that's good. Said he got back to the car and the doors were open and the glove box contents were strewn out. I'm just glad my car was still there.

bebejones · 15/10/2010 21:57

OMG Beaches, so sad! Steel Magnolias also good for a blub. I also ALWAYS cry at the Railway Children when Bobby runs down the platform through the steam 'Daddy, it's my daddy!' Teary just typing it!

strawberrypie · 15/10/2010 21:46

Feel better soon 100 years! What type of racing does your OH do? Sounds very exiting!

Sad films....I cry over anything with sad animals eg Dumbo, Bambi, Born Free, Gorillas in the Mist etc. The one film that had me really sobbing (and waking up in the middle of the night to sob a bit more) was Sleepers- a film about child abuse in a Detention centre. And you can't beat Beaches for a little weep :(

100years · 15/10/2010 21:27

My OH was OK about me not going with him, he said he would rather I get better now than be poorly when we go away in few weeks time. I know he would rather I was there with him, but his priority is me being well as opposed to seeing him finish his race. He has other races and this is not the first one he has done so at least I don't feel bad for that, and he knows how much I support him in that.

Suppose at least I am not off work sick, I know I could get my holiday days back if I was off sick, but I would rather have a relatively clear sick record (it used to be bad) than have the extra holidays

bebejones · 15/10/2010 21:21

Have had a bad food day & topped it off this evening with some Baileys Haagan Dazs :)

100 - no leaping around missus, rest & get better!

Squirrel - well done on the work front! Doesn't the talc make your hair go grey? Re Little Women, it's the bit where Beth dies, is just so sad, and also the end where Jo goes after Professor Bear

Got Birthday party 2moro for the LO who turned 1 today. DD & her are so funny & cute together, she copies everything DD does! Apart from that I'm hoping for a quiet weekend. :)

Ooh who needs drugs.. the phone just went off and I stood up to answer it, got the most wonderful array of stars in my eyes!!!

Well done on your week Squirrel :o

squirrel007 · 15/10/2010 19:44

Hi all!

I have never used dry shampoo, but I do have a bottle of talc for exactly the same purpose! Blush

Sorry to hear you're ill and home alone 100years but hope you feel better soon. I also love to watch sad films when I'm feeling down and home alone, I end up sobbing everywhere but it does make you feel better!

bebe I think that "Little Women" was the last film I sobbed to, just a few weeks ago when DH was away.

js keeping my fingers crossed for good news about your interview :)

jbells good to see you back! Hope you had a fab holiday. Sorry to hear about the work thing though, I'm sure they can't just do that. In your situation I think I'd have been tempted to ignore the P45, pretend I hadn't got it, and carry on as normal. It's not on to behave like that and not talk to you.

Have had a good week here - the project I am running has just met its first proper goal and beaten our target performance, so I'm chuffed. Just in time for my half-year review too, which is good timing! Now looking forward to a nice dinner out with DH, just got to remember not to overdose on the wine though. Have a good friday evening everyone :)

100years · 15/10/2010 19:42

Hope she keeps it to her self for you. I have only spoken to a couple of people about it and chosen wisely, but had I not spoken to someone when I did I think I would have burst!!! I hope that I don't get more migraines now, as there are a couple of people who know I have 'special' meds when I have one and ask if I have taken it, if so I think I will just lie to them.

Just had some Gammon, pineapple and some roasted veggies.

What plans has everyone got this evening?

bebejones · 15/10/2010 19:26

JS - Dry Shampoo is a godsend when you are home alone with a newborn & don't have time/energy for a shower!! Fab stuff!

100 - Not seen the film, would probably blub like an idiot even if I wasn't ill! My 'go to' ill film (ie the one I always watch when ill) is Little Women Blush I just love it! If I have time I'll watch Gone with the Wind! My mums ill film is Sense & Sensibility. All blub fests, think it helps get the bug out through crying!! :o

Dropped a bollock earlier. Out at lunch with friends at lunch, for friends LOs birthday, & one friend asked me if I was still doing jabs. Instantly I said 'no' without even thinking. Later I had to come clean to her why. She is sworn to secrecy as she is actually my DHs PA!!! Ooooops! Confused She's a v good secret keeper though! Told her she can't even tell DH I told her!

Yeah seen PS I love you and read the book. Not seen the notebook yet. I am not sure it's a good idea to watch a soppy film when you are feeling a bit meh as it is and a bit down because you are home alone and should be away with your OH visiting friends.

Feel like my temp has gone up again :(

Sobbing in films is good - no honest, I especially like them when I am having a bit of a bad day and need to cry and find that films help start me off.

jbells · 15/10/2010 18:54

100 years- i am not brave enuf to watch that film as i know i will sob, other ones that made me sob were the notebook and p.s i love you real heart wrenchers

100years · 15/10/2010 18:45

Oh man I cried. I cried when she went for the scan and then I cried lots at the end. Obviously this is all to do with my lurgy and not the fact that I am a girl!

But it's worsened my broodiness if that's even possible!

100years · 15/10/2010 15:16

Thanks Gals,

I take to putting my hair back if I get greasy hair, can't wait for it to be long enough to tie up in a ponytail, for now it's clips and headbands. I may have a look for this dry shampoo stuff, mind you I only take about 2 mins in the shower and max 5 mins if I'm washing hair etc, it takes me as long if not longer to do a flannel wash so easier to shower. I'm quicker at getting ready than my OH, not sure whether that's a good thing, I rarely wear make up and if I do it's not a lot.

Not long now till I'm home alone. :( Poop. Just going to curl on the sofa and watch a film, bought Marley and Me a few weeks ago as I had never seen it, I think I will watch that this afternoon :) I am expecting tears, has anyone seen it?
