Wow - and active morning on here!!

Sending lemsip, calpol and hugs to all those who are ill or have porly DCs. hope that you all start to feel better soon.

bebe very naughty DH, what is a "paddington death stare"? Am rather intrigued and think it may be a skill I need to develop!!

On the job front it's a bit long winded and confusing. I thought I was going to hear yesterday and when I didn;t and the recruiter didn't take my call because she was "on another line" I assumed that it was a no and they were holding off telling me until the other candidates had accepted.

She called this morning and told me that they
have decided that they like me and one other candidate very much (they are recruiting 2 PAs) and are telling the other candidates that they haven't made it but before contracts are sent they want me to go and meet the board of directors that I would be working for.

I asked if this is just a formality or if their decision could change after this next meeting (which I suppose is essentially a 2nd interview) and she said that until the meeting nothing is set in stone but the other candidates are not in the running and she can't see there being any reason for them to go back on their decision.

It's a step in the right direction and now I just have to make sure that i impress the executive board when i meet them!

The Lion is fab. He's life size and we're collecting him on Saturday. Can't wait!!! Had a call fromthe auction house yesterday saying that Waterstones (who are the sponsor) have shown an interest in him and wat to offer us 25% more than we paid for him but there is no way I'm selling him!!!!

squirrel007 · 19/10/2010 10:14

strawberry I know exactly what you mean - being pg is like broadcasting the fact that you have sex Blush and bebe lol at you phoning your mum and saying don't be angry!

100years DH is always hearing my worries about pregnancy and babies! I am confident at most things, but this seems like a huge leap into the unknown! Luckily he is great and reassures me, plus has been doing his own research about getting pg so is definitely on my side :)

Hope your poorly DCs get better!

100years · 19/10/2010 09:52

Strawberry, I must admit I hear about other people being preg and think oh so they're having sex then!!! LOL People you wouldn't normally think it of, my little sis when she was preg I didn't think it at all, because I knew she and her (now ex) hubby were at it. My family think it's OK to talk about sex with me, my mother also thinks it's OK to talk about size, fantasies and a whole manner of other things and my OH is not surprised when I say mum said x. [hblush]

No you are right bebe, it's not nice anyway about having the stuff stolen. Bloody hell re the 'now is not the time to be talking about this' don't say something like 'why you want to do it again' if you aren't happy with the follow up to the statement! Men pah

I think my voice is back to normal today, the throat however is very sore, and I'm snotting alot!!!!

Going back to my comment about being totally unprepared about the whole trying side of things. I think I am going to make a list of all my concerns, give the list to my OH and let him answer in his own time (ie the next day!) I think we possibly need to be a bit more timed in the whole having sex as opposed to when we feel like it. I think I would like it every other day for the middle part and then whenever outside of that, but he might have other ideas. Flip it's not long now.

Just heard someone else I kind of know is pg, I had that whole that's great but I want it too feeling. And it's not that I resent others or don't want them to be, I just want to be as well, IYKWIM

bebejones · 19/10/2010 09:06

JBells - have made a perpertual advent calendar that we can use every year. Made it out of fabric to hang up. I'll try & pop a pic on my profile later, I am very proud of it!

I cook alot...probably too much! DD likes helping with mixing & she loves making bread & is very good at kneading. Definitely do some with your DD when she is big enough. It's cheap & keeps them entertained! Got some mincemeat cooking for Christmas at the momment...takes 3 hours Shock, worth it though! Yum!

bebejones · 19/10/2010 09:02

Strawberry - I know exactly what you mean & I feel the same! Blush Maybe I am just very 'English' about it!! Hmm Feels very weird telling parents especially! Was so scared to tell my mum I was PG with DD. If I remember rightly I rang her up & said 'please don't be angry with me, but I'm pregnant', like I was a teenager! I was 25 & married! Blush

100 - still horrid that someone would be so oppurtunistic as to do that, they would have had to try the car so would have been looking to do it anyway! Bastards!

Ended up having to take DD to the Out of Hours GP. Her temp went up despite Calpol & NHS direct booked us in! Had mad dash to the little hospital & of course by the time we got there her rash had gone & she was very perky! Hmm Although despite being out in the cold her temp was still over 38 :( She has some viral infection & her glands are very swollen poor thing :( She seems very much more herself this morning, just hoping I don't get it!

On way home from hospital DH & I were talking about when she was ill when little. He brought up the mammoth newborn poos (the type that fill a sleepsuit Confused) and said 'It is beyond me why you would want to go through that again!' Shock Angry Stoooooopid man! Because she is worth every single momment of sleep deprevation, green poo & vomit & I would do it all again 10 times over! So there! Didn't say it, started to & he cut me off with 'Now's not the time to be talking about this!' Hmm If I hadn't been driving I'd have given him stern Paddington type stare!

ppps Good luck JS! [hsmile]

strawberrypie · 18/10/2010 20:41

100years I know just what you mean! You spend your whole adult life avoiding getting pregnant then one day that is totally reversed and you are doing everything you can!

And how do you go about it- like you said do you carry on as normal or factor in some extra baby-making shags? Do you acknowledge that is what they are? Does that change things? Aaaarrrgh!

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that getting pregnant is like saying to all your family and friends

         <strong>WE</strong> <strong>HAVE</strong> <strong>SEX</strong> !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Blush" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/blush-Brh13p-7.png">

I think it might just be me, sorry!

ps jbells- my first day went really well thank you :)
pps get well soon minibebe and anyone else feeling poorly x

100years · 18/10/2010 19:49

bebe, the car wasn't actually broken into as such, more that the OH left it unlocked and some thieving people took an opportunity to take stuff from it. I'm just glad they left the car. Sorry to hear about your tenant :( Poop.

Sorry there are poorly children around :(

Hey everyone, loads to catch up on, hope you are all well.

I am just feeling super tired and it turns out my voice is no better, I thought it was at home, but I got to work and turns out when you actually have to speak on the phone and get your point across it's no good. I ended up doing something different at work and finished work a couple of hours early. Came home and had a snooze on the bed for just over half an hour until OH woke me.

This morning I mentioned the fact that I am due on any time after this weekend, I said to OH you know what that means, he was like no, er yeah and then I left the house!!! LOL

I'm actually a little nervous about it, but not in a bad way, just an O M G This could actually happen to me, how does it work, what do you do (other than the obvious sex) do we talk about what we want to do in terms of trying, how long do we leave it before I start to do OPKs, how often do we have sex, I feel totally unprepared for the trying side of things. Give me a baby now and I would be sound, the trying side of things that's another story. Flipping heck. How weird I've been after this for ages and it's getting closer I'm getting a little bit freaked out, but I still want to do it, more than anything!

jbells · 18/10/2010 19:29

BEBE- DD isnt bad yet she has just started coming down with something today hopefully it wont turn into anythin, your poor DD hate it when there like that, hopefully she will feel slightly better afta a good nites sleep

your so domesticated, i wish i was as creative as you are, wot type of advent calender have u made? i made a delia smith recipe of pasta today and 2 days ago made sausage casserole thats about as far as my cooking patience goes, love baking but dont seem to get the time, hopefully ill be able to do more when DD is at an age where she wants to make cakes with me

bebejones · 18/10/2010 19:17

JS - any news?

OP posts:
bebejones · 18/10/2010 19:17

Jbells - how is your DD? Sounds like a similar bug! DD is really not well, I don't think I've ever seen her so poorly...even when she had swine flu! Shes now pale as anything & shivering, feel awful :( Thankfully she has gone straight to sleep!

My friends and I do present amnesty at Christmas! But we have 12 children (relations, close friends) not including DD, that we have to buy for! Can't not buy presents for LOs at Christmas!

I won't mention the fact that I started making mincemeat today & that I have finished making DDs advent calendar! Wink

jbells · 18/10/2010 18:59

lol now u mention it, it does never thought about it like that b4 hehe

Quodlibet · 18/10/2010 18:39

Oh I see! Sounds like some sort of exotic curry....Lamb banana madras and a peshwari naan please...

jbells · 18/10/2010 18:25

quod- search lamb banana liverpool in google images and u will c lots of pics of them there quite famous in liverpool lol, i wud like to do a present amnesty but i like recieving them to much Blush

Quodlibet · 18/10/2010 18:15

jbells you have put all sorts of ideas in my head trying to work out what a lamb banana is?

Bebe that's a bit shit about your tenant! You and your DH sound like actual nice landlords though which is SO RARE (at least where I am) so hopefully you shouldn't find it too hard to get a nice tenant in return, if the worst happens and he does leave?

Please can we not mention xmas shopping, I have done none and have no money to do any either...although seeing as we're going to be away for xmas abroad this year anyway, do you think maybe no-one will notice? Confused Thinking quite seriously about having a present-amnesty!!

Definitely another vote here for hibernation. It's horrible when the day ends at 5.30....

jbells · 18/10/2010 17:37

hey everyone, hope everyones feeling better and had a nice weekend

bebejones · 18/10/2010 17:06

Well things here were ok, and then our tenant (who works with DH) had a arguement with DHs dad & quit & is therefore leaving the flat & leaving us with 2 mortgages to pay just before Christmas! Angry :(

JS - The lion looks fantastic, is it actually life size?! Fingers crossed on the job front!

My poor DD is also poorly, she seemed loads better this morning so we went & did some Christmas shopping. But now she is very hot (38.4 after Calpol & ibuprofen) has a streaming nose & red blotchy/puffy rash on her face! :( Hate it when she is poorly, feel so helpless. She doesn't understand that sitting still/sleeping will help!

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 18/10/2010 16:28

JS your lion is AWESOME! Is it actually going to come and live in your house? I want one! How big is it? And what an AMAZING thing to put in a nursery - I would have loved one of those when I was little. (And really nice and conveniently gender-neutral as well I thought!)

Really hoping your job comes through today. I had an interview earlier today for a bit of freelance work after xmas which will essentially rescue my dire finances if I get it - should hear by the end of the week. Sounds like a really good project too, and the interview went as well as it could have I thought.

Right, got to crack on with my enormous Monday list of accumulated things. I'm working on so many projects simultaneously right now I don't really know whether I'm coming or going and it's really difficult to foresee how any of them are going to pan out - sometimes having a normal job with a routine seems like a really appealing prospect!

JustShaggingForNow · 18/10/2010 14:28

hiya all!!

Bebe - great phrase!! And good luck with your TTC conversation next weekend.

Sorry to hear that everybody is sick at the moment. My top tips for getting rid of colds are:

  1. Get your OH to fetch you original fizzy lucozade form teh shops
  2. hot currys and yummy comfort foods
  3. day adn night nurse pills
  4. hot baths
  5. lots of sleep and time off work
  6. a few drinks to kill the germs!!!

I had a really fun weekend. My parents and grandmother came to stay with us and we went to a charity auction for the "Lions of Bath" on the Fridya night. the 5 of us ended up with 5 lions! So excited about ours, DH chose it as a "Nursery Lion" so whatever we have will be having a nursery colour scheme based on our lion!!! link to our new addition!!!

I am due to hear on the job today. The recruitment agent told me this morning that the client is going to offer the roles to 2 people this afternoon so I am surgically attached to my mobile phone and keeping everything crossed!!!

WYorksLass · 18/10/2010 12:25

Hiya, i hope everyone is feeling well today.
100 I always have a curry to try to smash my colds, but then again we eat a vast amount of curries anyway. This might explain my weight gain over the past year alongside lack of running! I really must make some effort to re-start running, i used to love it and have done many half marathons in my time. There was one local to me at the weekend (wonder if it was the 1 100's OH ran?)and i almost wished i was doing it.

On a positive note this weekend has mostly been spent sorting out last minute wedding stuff. I also managed Pilates on Sat and Swimming on Sun so pleased with myself :-) Must keep it up!

OH keeps talking about babies, frequently! I had to tell him off yesterday as DSD was in earshot and don't want to excite/stress her out until it happens! Luckily she was busy with singstar and thus oblivious!

squirrel007 · 18/10/2010 10:28

Hi all! Hope you had good weekends!

We had a nice trip to visit one of DH's friends yesterday, and they have a 7m old baby. She was very cute, and it turns out that DH is a bit of a natural with babies :) he is super excited, and it is just sinking in for me how much of a change it'll be and how much work small babies are. Plus I keep imagining nausea, but I know that it's just the vitamins (think it's the iron that makes me feel a bit dodgy)

bebe sounds promising with your DH, hope you can come to some decisions soon.

100years hope you start to feel better

strawberry the party sounds good, although I'm not sure about the dodgy outfits!

quod it's rubbish that your DP is away :(

bebejones · 17/10/2010 21:20

Quod - glad you like that little turn of phrase! :o

100 - Curry definitely good for clearing things out! Hope you feel better soon. It's miserable being poorly! Meant to say how horrid to have your car broken into! :( At least the car itself was still there!

Bit nervous about bringing up TTC again but I will just have to try & keep it together! Actually felt quite nice to tell my friend the other day! I agree with you all it's nice to be able to share it. Everyone is leaning on DH to have more kids, without them even knowing it's a discussion point for us!

OP posts:
100years · 17/10/2010 20:40

LOL. I've not tried talking much in the past hour, so time will tell. Working tomorrow and LOTS of talking then, eeep, overtime and only 7 hours of it though

Quodlibet · 17/10/2010 20:37

100, hurrah, smash it with the curry! I smashed mine with a bloody mary today, seemed to work!
