Exciting news about the job js :) sounds promising and I hope that the board like you too (see no reason why not though!!)

Am excited for you too 100years!

bebe your daughter sounds cuter every time you mention her! Love the advent calendar too.

wyorkslass how long till your wedding now? Is everything ready?

jbells I was also laughing at you running from your mum!

As for me, I'm getting impatient, think I'm in the 2ww but am not sure how normal things are after the coil. Either way, I'm sure it's too early to do any tests, and I'm thinking of investing in opks for next month. And I've also convinced DH that I should redecorate one room to make a nursery, so now I have a project to focus on!

100years · 20/10/2010 11:05

Oh re the alkaline environment re boy making sperm, maybe I'll alternate my approach to pelvic floor exercises then!!! LOL

My mum has said in the past about not getting pg at my weight - specifically when I was heavier, the topic hasn't come up recently and she has said how she used to be worried about me, I don't know if she still is, but I will cross that bride when I come to it.

bebejones · 20/10/2010 11:02

Orgasm same principle I think Confused but also creates an alkaline environment which is helpful for boy making sperm!

JBells - I didn't live at home but did think my mum was going to be really cross/disappointed with me. She'd been going on about waiting & not rushing to have a family! I didn't listen either! :o

Did tell DD to ask Daddy, and she wanted to ring him, but he is in a meeting! Typical! At least she is on my side too Wink

OP posts:
100years · 20/10/2010 10:50

Nope I didn't try the standing on my head thing! I'll save that for being at the right point of the cycle :o I have visions of me with my legs in the air pretending to cycle! I did just lay there with a big grin on my face. I asked if he enjoyed it and he said yeah.

Yay I get to hop aboard, what was going by so slowly is now here whoop. I'm very lucky my OH is happy to move things earlier!

Erm Blush I heard that having an orgasm after the bloke helps it along as well Shock I'll practice my pelvic floor exercises too.

jbells · 20/10/2010 10:39

wyorklass, running away was very funny hehe, i felt like a lil girl who had done something naughty, id only just turned 23 at the time and was still living at home, so guess i still felt i had to answer to my mum, now DD is her world altho she did tell me 1 was enuf and not to have anymore i didnt listen tho :o

bebe- r bless your DD yes u shud tell her ask daddy hehe :o

bebejones · 20/10/2010 10:38

Will definitely be steering DD is DHs direction later & hoping that she says something! Wink (Don't want to prompt her & get accused of 'putting ideas in her head' Hmm)

V exciting, hop aboard the front carriage of the train 100!! :o

Lots of pelvic floor exercises after...erm...well, y'know!! Wink Helps 'suck it up' Hmm Blush well, maybe, tis one theory anyway! :o

jbells · 20/10/2010 10:37

wow 100 years great news, love the comment of standing on your head, did u try it hehe

100years · 20/10/2010 10:06

I used to be rubbish at keeping things from my Mum, however this practice has stopped now. It's a long story, one that involved me growing up a lot and stopping being treated like a child.

WYorks, there were actually loads of half marathons on that day, and a few big Marathons :) They are all over the place yet people don't know about them really. It's only if you are interested in running/races that you start finding out how frequent they are. IYKWIM

Aw bless to your LO asking to get a baby sister! Maybe you ought to steer her in you OH's direction.

Well ladies I have some more news drumroll

We have gone from it being the beginning of next year, to November to actually not using condoms last night! Now I know it's totally the wrong point in my cycle, but even so. There is no going back now :o I couldn't get off to sleep afterwards for smiling and thinking wow, it's really really happening. And his comment afterwards was 'right now go stand on your head for half an hour' [hgrin]

So does that mean I'm technically boarding/boarded the train now as a passenger?

bebejones · 20/10/2010 09:20

100 - I didn't want to tell anyone until after 12 week scan. But was so cick we ended up telling family! Was a bit disappointed, kind of liked it being 'our little secret'! :)

DD picked up her dolly this morning & said 'Can I have baby sister please?' I said 'what now?' she said 'Yes, come on mummy, let's go get baby sister!' So apparently I have to go get one from somewhere! Hmm :o

WYorksLass · 20/10/2010 08:47

100 years that's so exciting, i'm really happy for you :o

My mum tells me she will "know" when i get pregnant. She will as well!

Btw, my name does reflect where i'm from/live so there must have been more than 1 half marathon that day.

jbells, i did have to laugh about you running away from your mum, sorry! I'm glad she was fine about it.

Have a good day all.

jbells · 20/10/2010 08:11

lol 100 years hopefully u will be like me i will openly say that it was not often yet here i am guess its part luck part timimg, my mum prob found out a few days afta i found out last time and this time i took the test at her house and asked her if i was imagining things as line was faint, i tend to tell my mum everything tho, im rubbish at keeping things to myself

100years · 19/10/2010 20:38

I'm not sure what I will do re telling my Mum when the time comes to it, not sure if I could wait too long, but on the other hand I'm not sure I can tell her too early!

I'm actually going to try and get a few months out of the kits so long as I ovulate at the right time, I think it's a moisture thing, so if I make sure I seal it up properly and keep it in a cool dry place I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. I've just 'agreed' (tis the only word I can think of, but it's the wrong word) the every other day thing (don't want to bombard too much), OH has just asked what's going on in here and I mentioned your comment, he was like erm well. LOL. I'm not sure it will be an every day thing, I'm not even sure I would want that, and sperm lasts a few days anyway, if we are still trying a few months down the line then I will be pestering him all the time!!! [hgrin]

jbells · 19/10/2010 19:32

hey all- hope your day has gone well

BEBE- i was really nervous to tell my mum last time, wasnt bothered at all this time as she knw i wanted another one anyway, i was nervous bcos me and DP hadnt been together long and i thought i mite get a lot of critisism for it, i the end she found out a few days later as i accidentally left a midwife appointment card by the fone, she then proceeded to ask me if i had anything to tell her i sed no and ran to my room to avoid her and cried ( i was very grown up about the situation) hehe :o turned out she was fine about it all

your advent is lovely your DD is very lucky to have such a creative mum :)

100years- great new how exciting, i wud reccomend cranking up the sex on the days u work out u were most fertile, cant belive those test kits come in same packet and then have to be used in 30 days wot a con :(

JS- great news on job front, hopefully it will be confirmed for u soon :)

squirral- i agree being pregnant does broadcast to people er yes actually we do still have sex, im always thinking when people tell me oh so they still must have plenty of sex then lol

100years · 19/10/2010 17:50

Can I just have a moment to do a little dance in the thread please....... [dancing happy emoticon]

I've just spoken to OH and....... trying is definitely when I have had this period - the one that is due any time after this weekend(could be this weekend or up to 10 days after that) :) He's up for the every other day kind of thing and all that jazz. He knows I have OPKs now.

O M G I'm going to be SWI very soon

[dances off]

Thanks bebe, I will have a look at amazon for getting some for in a couple of months time if needs be.

I see WYorks. Oh I saw your comment about the half marathon the other day, it wasn't near you unless your name doesn't reflect where you are from.

I say my bedside table stuff is safe, I have in the past been known to have a) my mother and b) my sister looking in my drawers, my mother found a stash(box of 12) of condoms once in there! She did shut the drawer fairly quickly, but to be fair she's always been open about stuff like that (maybe just a smidge too open at times) and did take me for the pill when I was first with a boyf.

WYorksLass · 19/10/2010 16:24

bebe, your advent is fantastic. I'd love to be a bit more "crafty" but never get around to it. My mum used to do a lot of that sort of thing with me as a kid and i'd like to do the same with mine. I asked my mum to teach me to knit (again) recently and have done a square and a half for a baby blanket. I may have half of it done before a baby arrives!

100years folic acid is in kitchen cupboard (with OH's zinc tablets, didn't want him to feel left out!). My mum won't snoop but is likely to "help" me make tea. Will move to bedside cabinet!

bebejones · 19/10/2010 16:21

100 - I got test strips from amazon - 30 for a fiver! I know the cheapie ones aren't thought to be as good, but figured that if I had no luck with them I'd shell out for the expensive ones!

OP posts:
100years · 19/10/2010 16:05

Toffee apple [hgrin]

Bought one of the first response daily ovulation test kits, 20 tests in the box, I thought, great will poss last a few months if I test on the right days. Not so as it would seem all the tests are in a pouch and need to be used within 30 days of opening!!! You very obviously wouldn't test once you've had a positive test would you. 30 flipping squid, I think I would take the risk and use them the next month too. Until I 'know' where I'm at.

Where is your folic acid if you are saying you need to hide it. Mine is in my bedside drawers so no-one would actually find them unless they were snooping.

bebejones · 19/10/2010 15:41

Quod - Have popped a pic of advent calendar on profile. Can't wait til December to hang it up & fill it with stuff! I think it's nice to have keepsakes like that, do you still 'use' your stockings?

WYorks - my mum also drops hints like mad, but it's not me she needs to work on! :o

OP posts:
WYorksLass · 19/10/2010 13:06

Ooh, sounds promising JS

100years our cycles seem similar, might be good if we conceived at the same time. You have a month start on me though so might not work out. [Am positive thinking we all conceive 1st try - i know it's unlikely though!]. I hope you feel better soon.

My parents are coming over tonight. I must remember to hide the folic acid otherwise my mother will get excited! Everytime i say i feel sick or am tired or don't have an alcoholic drink she asks me if i'm pregnant. Last time she said "i wouldn't mind you know". Really?! She drops that many hints i never would have guessed :-)

Quodlibet · 19/10/2010 12:45

I loved that thread about the Death Stare! My sister's training in early years and I sent it to her for reference!

JS that's very very exciting about your job developments. I'm sure the Board are more than likely going to agree with the recruiters (they're going to want to, for an easy life), they probably just want peace of mind that no weirdos are sneaking in without them checking. Do you know when you're meeting them?

Really curious to see your advent calender bebe, sounds fab. We still have the stockings my mum made when me, my sister and my cousin were tiny Blush.

bebejones · 19/10/2010 12:03

[hsad] Poor you 100, hate that feeling when you are 'getting better', you think you're ok, do stuff then suffer!

My DH doesn't know that I have a stash of OPKs in my nightstand drawer!!

OP posts:
100years · 19/10/2010 11:59

Oh js that's really good news. Keeping fingers crosses here for you.

Just bought some OPKs [hhmm] me bad. I've not discusses this at all with OH. I might wait till my period if I can wait that long!!

Def not actually better although I wouldn't say I'm 'poorly' I'm just feeling it today. Waiting to get hair cut and my voice actually isn't right!!! Much to the amusement of some shop staff

bebejones · 19/10/2010 11:39

It's always the ones you least expect! There is a lady at toddler group who has the best death stare I have ever seen. She's tiny & lovely & used to be in the army! Really need to work on mine, I think it's because my voice that goes with it is usually too high pitched! :o

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 19/10/2010 11:18

hahaha! I have never been very good at death stares but my grandmother (who was the sweetest and most lovely woman on the planet) had a stare that could freeze water. It was very impressive!!!

bebejones · 19/10/2010 11:02

Ooooh JS!!! Sounds v v promising! Well done you!

Paddington bear used to give a fixed stare! Not 100% sure on details of such a stare & when he used it as haven't read any Paddington in a long time!

My death stare that I use on DD is completely ineffective! She usually just laughs at me! Hmm It works on DH & the cat though! :o
