Welcome aboard, make yourselves comfy I have a feeling it's going to be a bumpy ride! Wink

Think I have Monday Blues as well today, plus the threat of looming AF (which is giving me the munchies).

Shall bake a large chocolate cake, that is fat free, calorie free & has a hefty dusting of folic acid!! Wink Anyone up for a slice?! :o

Our house is set up & back from the road so if you don't know how to get up to it it can be confusing! I think it puts people off, coz there were definitely trick or treaters out there! :o

Squirrel - No I gave up my 'Disease Modifying Drugs' (they are supposed to reduce the risk of relapse Hmm but not by enough to be worth it IMO, but were thought necessary Hmm Hmm). The steroids are what they give during relapses to reduce the inflammation on the nerves. It's a bit complicated to explain really Confused basically MS is a immune system disorder & the body attacks the nerve coating which in turn makes the nerves damaged & therefore disrupts the signals. That's it in a nutshell! Sorry that was a bit long winded! Blush I don't fully understand it myself!

nannyl I am impressed at your dedication, giving up both alcohol and caffeine for so lon! Don't think I could manage that.

thecake I got married in July too! We would have ttc straight away, but had to wait till after honeymoon and antimalarials, so we started at the beginning of oct.

bebe sorry about your leg, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Are the steroids what you gave up?

No trick-or-treaters here either, but a good job as we didn't have any sweets! We don't really live in a family area so not many kids around.

bebejones · 01/11/2010 08:47

Oh also, I finished my Glucosomine last night so won't be taking that anymore as prep for TTC. When the folic acid runs out I'll switch to prenatal vits. Quite excited! Wink

Nannyl - that's incredibly organised! Wink I don't drink much at all but 6 years without anything would be hard going!

TheCake - we had no trick or treaters at all (except DHs little sisters but they don't really count), now I have a mountain of sweets tempting me! :(

Can't believe it is November! 1 week til my Birthday! It's come around so quickly!

Feeling a bit low, I think I'm losing the feeling in my legs which means I'll probably have to have steroids again :( Going to see how the day pans out & probably ring docs 2moro :( Keep fingers crossed it's coz I'm tired or slept awkwardly!

Hello again and thanks for all of the lovely welcome messages.

AC- I got married in July and we both ageed to ttc fairly soon after the wedding. I had not realised people had pictures on their profile- will have to do that, I'm a bit rubbish at keeping up to date with the Internet - hence my late reply!

Nannyl- I am a teacher too so that is why I thought late sept so we are holding off ttc until jan. Also it will give me an idea of what my cycle is like- I'm not looking forward to my first proper period in years!

I can't remember who said they were in Liverpool for a wedding (memory like a sieve) but I'm glad you enjoyed it- in live in Liverpool and love it but from Northumberland

I think I'll try and sort a picture out and eat some of the chocolate mountain I have in our house as a result of only having 2 trick or treaters!

nannyl · 31/10/2010 20:59

thanks AC Smile

though not quite my month 2mo (yet)... will be TTC from Dec, as really dont want an Aug baby, but want my body as healthy as possible and free of drugs (ie alcohol / caffeine) by December!

AmandaCooper · 31/10/2010 20:51

Nannyl that's very good. I bet I'll be indulging myself with a little tipple once my baby's a few months old.

Can't believe it's your month tomorrow, I'm excited for you!!!

nannyl · 31/10/2010 16:29

Hello all
Im back again and our visitors have gone.
Ready to go back to school tomorrow after a fun filled 2 weeks off.

Welcome to thecake and Gettovaryit (the cake i am also hoping for a later Sept baby Smile)

100years how exciting, now you are really trying Grin

Jbells how exciting bout your scan, hope the next one is clearer

squirrel I too love seeing all the charts about my cycles, find them fascinating and my friend (a maths teacher) suggested my baby will be born with a histogram on its head!!!!!!!! I sleep well and can always get back to sleep so do my temp at 7am every day. I think its worth it, though not sure how practicle it will be when TTC#2 and sleep is more preciouse and potentially interupted!

About to put out our pumpkin now and listening to Xmas music having narrowed down this years Xmas card design!

Also VERY excitied (I think) but am enjoying my last bottle of wine today, (lovely expensive birthday present wine YUMMMM) as will be alcohol and caffine free from November aka tomorrow Confused
Think i'll have 1 last cup of lady grey tea now though aswell!

A bit scarey that this could be my last alchohol for 6 years Shock if my baby / breast feeding plans for my current plan actually happen as i plan them now!!!
(plan to be pregnant / TTC or breastfeeding for at least the next 6 Xmas's!!!!)

Quodlibet · 31/10/2010 12:45

Ha yes AC - and actually we have just spent 6 hours last night and this morning discussing how bloody intolerable it is for me that our family-starting is linked to his career thing, which is forever moving its nebulous date and seems to always be first priority!!! Aghghgh I could actually scream it's so frustrating!

Luckily he has also said some very nice things and I do know it is important for him, and he's just insisting on waiting so that he can definitely be at home and look after us in the early days, so I'm can't really be angry with him.

100 that sounds all-in-all quite crap. Can you go out for a nice lunch by a pub fire somewhere? Roll on holidays for you.

bebebones · 31/10/2010 12:40

100 - So sorry you're feeling rough :( But not long now!! Wink

AC - We had a Halloween party, complete with dressed up littlies (well 3 of them!) DD was a bat and v cute she was too! Wink Positive news that your DH thought the little girl was cute!

I blow hot & cold with the broodiness (mostly hot) but I freak out sometimes at the thought of coping with 2, especially if #2 is as full on as DD!

AmandaCooper · 31/10/2010 10:46

100years it doesn't sound like you're having much fun at the moment! Good job you've got your holiday to look forward to.

Quod it's funny how you can blow hot and cold from super broody to pure terror, isn't it!

AmandaCooper · 31/10/2010 10:43

Oh god no my music festival days are definitely over! I definitely won't be wishing I was at Glastonbury when I'm sat at home with my baby!

We don't seem to have got the right idea just yet, the Halloween party we went to last night was a family party with lots of LO dressed up as ghouls and ghosts and witches! One little witch came and cuddled up with me with her blanket and her bottle and fell asleep. So cute! Even DH thought so!

100years · 31/10/2010 09:24

Morning all.

AF arrived yesterday, bringing with her a load of shitty stomach cramps that I don't get every month. :( But it's here, the real trying starts as soon as she is gone :o HUGE GRIN I must admit I'm a little bit Shock that I'm actually doing this and OMG OMG if it works out(first time) then this time next year I will have a baby. Actual realisation of the whole thing is now coming to me. I am both nervous/scared and excited.

We have no hot water, eeep, my hair is in desperate need of a wash and I feel ick not showering when I have AF, boiling kettles for a sink/flannel wash, skanky me today.

Yesterday morning something fell out of the bathroom cupboard and has cracked the sink, so I had to ring landlady and explain to her what had happened, she's coming round later so OH can tell her about the water situation then.

And we live in an apartment block, someone has once again busted the main front door lock so now people can get in and out of the block without a key.

I also seem to be suffering with my sinuses in the morning, very painful :(

It's all going great here isn't it!!! LOL

Anyway it's only a couple of days till I go away with OH on that little holiday he booked for us without me knowing. Thursday cannot come soon enough.

Hope everyone else is OK.

Quodlibet · 30/10/2010 16:43

Hello all - welcome TheCake and getovaryit!

jbells really glad your scan went well, how exciting. I've just got back from my first visit to Liverpool (ANOTHER wedding) and have to say I really really liked the place on first impressions. Loads of great buildings and the people are so much friendlier than London.

Discovered at the wedding that one of our close friends is v v early preggers (not drinking gives it away) which is very exciting but understandably they're keeping it under wraps for now. Her DH is one of my DP's best friends so it'll be interesting to see if it influences him at all!

AC to add to your list - how about a really big music festival or two? Seconding having some really great holidays too. Also I reckon it's a good time to challenge yourself to get in really really good physical shape (working around the partying, late nights and lie-ins of course). Oh and last-minute spontaneous dirty weekends away Wink.

(WYorks your list is really impressive btw!)

Our long-haul holiday in Dec (we're going to Oz) definitely has an element of 'live like it's your last childfree year' about it! Personally I have swung recently between wanting to put of TTC a bit longer (realised when AF was a week late last month that I was absolutely terrified of the prospect!) and being really broody and wanting to get on it immediately! So actually having 'TTC' vaguely parked in the spring next year feels all right to me at the mo and weirdly I feel more relaxed about it than I have for ages!

100years · 29/10/2010 21:01

Hey folks,

LOADS to catch up on, sorry if I miss anyone out, I'm suffering with a first day back at work migraine again, and although I'm writing this separately so I don't miss anyone out I can't guarantee it.

Yeah I know I was not expecting it to be positive, but it was still a bit gah. Now I've not been charting properly, ie I only started doing temps since we ditched the condoms but this morning I had a dip of 0.3degrees and am (since yesterday) spotting, so I reckon AF is here in a slow form and will start properly soon. Thanks for the wishes though everyone. I'm only charting so I know when I have ovulated so I can stop certain meds that I shouldn't take if pg.

Oh and I've started knitting!!! LOL

AC Kind of sorry that it's still over a year away for you, but glad you have a final date over it, that means you can focus on stuff between now and then.

bebe I've found that by not focussing on dieting strictly I have actually lost weight in the past few months, so maybe relaxing a little might help you, although it does seem as though your DH is totally trying to ignore the whole baby thing entirely.

squirrel sorry your test was neg too. :( I shall make a space for you on the August bus. :o I'm now replying to another post you have made, I work shifts and I am just taking my temp when I get up, after a long sleep, I don't think it's quite as accurate but I have seen a definite drop in my temp. Next month will be the first full month I've done it, so I will have a see and hopefully see it all.

WYorks I have done a few of the things on your list, Ski, scuba, triathlon :o Not long now...

getovaryit welcome to the thread. Love the name, it's cool. Glad your DH is fully on board :o

TheCake welcome to you too. We are a lovely bunch, there are some of us in here who have just jumped off the cliff, some who are growing a baby and some who are waiting patiently for their OH's to get on board. Hope you have lick when you do jump off the cliff.

jbells blimey re the dates being put back, that might explain the fact the test was neg for so long? Who knows. But glad all looked OK on the scan :o I so love seeing other people's scan pics, think it's amazing really.

bebebones · 29/10/2010 20:42

JBells - :( on pictures front! Hopefully the 20 week ones will be better! 'Rare shaped uterus'...what like?! Confused

AC - I found the charting a PITA as well! My sleep is precious & mostly disturbed enough as it is without having to wake up at 6am everyday! Hmm

Hoping to get away with just using the OPKs, will try them out next month! Eeeek! Still think DH will say no to TTC though :(

AmandaCooper · 29/10/2010 19:53

By the way Getovaryit and The Cake most us us have pictures on our profiles.

AmandaCooper · 29/10/2010 19:35

Oh wow JBells that must be amazing, seeing your tiny baby on the monitor! It's a shame you didn't get good pictures. My top tip of the day is to video it on your camera phone. Someone was showing their's off in the pub last week, it was awesome!

Squirrel you are right about the temping it was a PITA to do. The only way I could manage to take my temp at the same time every day was to set the alarm for 6am every day, and even then I often woke up early anticipating it. I've slept much better since I went back on the pill!

Welcome thecake, have you been planning this long? When did you decide you were ready to ttc? It's good to have some more first timers on board!

jbells · 29/10/2010 19:16

hey squirral

to be honest i was very disappointed with pics they were very blurry and no where near as good as the ones i had with DD im glad its not my first time or it wud hav bin more dissapointing i think it was a bit clearer on the screen and i saw him/her moving about atleast and the little heartbeat

also found out i have a very rare shaped uterus lol

bebebones · 29/10/2010 19:13

Jbells - glad scan went ok! :) A May baby would be nice!

Welcome TheCake! We are all lovely! :o Wink

Have eaten my considerable bodyweight in bad stuff this evening! Feeling miserable & comfort eating! :(

squirrel007 · 29/10/2010 19:10

Hi getovaryit and thecake! Nice to meet you :)

jbells sounds like the scan went well, you must be relieved! Was it good to see the pics?

AC all the charting sounds kind of interesting, but I'm not very good at getting up at the same time, especially at the weekends, and I thought that you really need to take your temp at the same time every day? I am curious to try though, being a scientist I love numbers and graphs and stuff!

wyorkslass I'm impressed by your marathons, don't think I could ever do that! I'd quite like to do a half one at some point though.

jbells · 29/10/2010 19:02

hello ladies

so scan was today, gud news they sed all looks well bad new in they have put my dates back and i am only 10.1 weeks not the 12.1 that i thought, cant figure out when i possible concieved with these dates tho, due date is 26th may, so may well end up having a june baby.

also i was concerned that i had done the fudge wrong as it was less like fudge and more like a chewy chocolate but read earlier posts and bebe says its meant to be like this very tasty but very sickly lol

the cake-welcome :) glad u plucked up the courage to join everyone is very nice promise hehe

getovait- also welcome :)

bebe- i will try the otha fudge one next week, c which one i prefer to put in the hampers going to try and do a couple of trial recipes of different things each week

AC- as for things to do while u are waiting, i wish i had gone on another longhaul holiday, also wud have liked to have done a half marathan, and wud have continued with my dancing it is the one thing i keep meaning to get into since having DD but never have, oh and i agree on the cat i had a dog for years and think my maternal instincts were filtered into looking after him :o

squirral- sorry for your negative hopefully AF will arrive soon and u can start a fresh month

hope everyone has had a nice day

TheCake · 29/10/2010 18:51

Can I join too? I'm due to start ttc in Dec/ Jan ish (hoping for an end of sept baby but realistic that it may take a while- it took my Mam 7 years to have me). Finished my pill on Tuesday and on my withdrawal bleed, wonder how long it will take for my AF to arrive-I've been on the pill since I was 15 and I'm 30 now.

I have been lurking for a while- but took the plunge to say Hi as you all seem so nice
x

getovaryit · 29/10/2010 13:20

Thanks for the welcomes! Have found myself a comfy seat in the corner of the platform!

Yes DH is fully on board, although he isn't too keen on talking about it- probably just a man thing, lets wait until it happens philosophy!! Needless to say that I have been driving him mad with my constant talking about folic acid and zinc etc etcWink.

Fudge sounds delicious-chewy or not!!
