TTC or Pregnant with an under-active Thyroid.

Hi all,

I know this is an old thread but I have recently been told by the doctor after having some blood tests that im borderline underactive thyroid. I feel rubbish all the time, really tired and groggy which then leads me to being snappy etc. Im just fed up. How can I get the doctor to diagnose me and put me on medication? Thanks xxx

Well! Am pleased to say we had our scan today and all looks good with baby no2

GP upped my dose of levothyroxine from 125mcg to 150mcg when I got my BFP. Am having bloods checked every four weeks but so far levels are stable.

Sorry, forgot to say I take 125 mcg of Levothyroxine right now. Have been hypothyroid for ages, diagnosed at age 16 (am now nearly 31).

Bumping this -- not sure it's active any more, but I want to join in! I'm waiting for my thyroid levels to balance out again (TSH was too low) before TTC again (probably starting February). Lost the first pregnancy after spontaneously going into labour at 18+6 weeks, no particular reason found. My thyroid had been tested at 18+2 and found normal, so that connection is unlikely... Anyway, just wanted to check in and say hello and revive this thread.

Does your GP intend to treat your hypothyroidism as a TSH of 9 should be treated whether or not you are trying to conceive? If not, seek a second opinion.

I'm not sure if a TSH of 9 makes a difference TTC, but my fertility doctor certainly thought my TSH of 8 could. I was trying to conceive via AI and the doctor said she would not treat me until I got my thyroid sorted out. She put me on thyroxine 25mcg which made little difference. I then changed fertility clinics and the doctor there said that she felt that I needed proper medical advice. I paid 180 pounds (was six years ago) and went to a private consultant (an NHS specialist). He discovered I had Hashimotos and upped my dose. My TSH went down to 3 and I conceived (with help) soon after. I've since been monitored regularly via my GP.

Getting this on my 'I'm on' list so I can eventually get round to reading it all. Might need a few tips

Finally found this thread again Can't believe it was April since my last post! Still feeling crap - worst symptoms are a constant chest pressure & feeling like my throat is closing over. May well not be linked to being hypo but have never felt either before. Have another GP apt! Have any of you ever been off work with thyroid problems?

On the ttc front we have been trying for no.2 & had a few months of disappointment so far - currently on the 2ww but can't see it happening when I'm feeling so crap!

I'm new to the world of hypothyroidism. Let me introduce myself and then could I please have some advice / a pep talk? Thank you, kind ladies.

DH and I have been married just over a year and have been TTC in an utterly lackadaisical fashion. No success, so I went off to my GP who sent me for Day 1-4 blood tests which included thyroid tests.

The results came back TSH 9.55 and Free Thyroxine 12.8. From what I have read on here those numbers are not in the conception friendly range and with the help of Google I've diagnosed myself as being hypothyroid.

In my mind I imagined going back to the GP and she would prescribe the right medication and I would no longer feel tired all the time, feel the cold really badly or be a general moody cow. As a result, I would then go on to international success in my career and conceive next month.

I've been back to the GP this morning talked about the results with her and she said she thought they were not in the range that affects TTC. From what I've read on here that is not true - but I just sat there and said nothing.

It looks like international success and pg will have to wait - not enough balls or thyroxine.

Please help.

My previous post was meant to say am "still" feeling symptomatic which worries me when readings are so much better.

Thanks Maples Am v pleased & hope your prediction comes true! am doubting myself at the same time though - don't know if we should wait to see if results remain stable - am still feeling symptomatic Can anyone tell me what happened next once their results were within range? (have tried to read all of thread on my phone but never managed it in one go & how to save my place on an existing thread that I'm midway through reading seems beyond my MN user capabilities!! - really need to ask how on site stuff!)

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share - my latest bloods are TSH 1.48, T3 1.4 & T4 18.1 - Am Not sure if they'll review again in a month or how it goes now but feel like baby no2 is almost a possibility now........

I will look in to it I promise, even the cervical fluids

no not charting, never really got to grips with it, if no luck soon I will do though!
