I've started a new thread!

OP posts:
gumblossom · 12/10/2010 11:20

Hello ladies, it's evening, the morrocan lamb casserole is in the oven, the DD's have taken the ds for a long walk, it's been sunny and lovely and I even planted runner beans and zucchini today! I feel very happy, but also VERY tired....oohh, Ihope it is early pregnancy fatigue...

Symptom spotting?Me? Nah...

I shall be 7 dpo in the morning, but haven't even considered testing. I really think I might just wait another week, and if I've not seen Af by 13 dpo, I shall test...I hope I can stick to the plan, but chances are I won"t.I haven't in the last 6 months!

Italian, I was going to ask if you had considered fructose as the problem - especially if you experience bloating after wine. But could also be candida. Have you seen a naturopath? I think they can do testing to see what might be the cause. I do hope you can find out. I know how unpleasant it is.

I have had that trouble and learnt by an elimination diet that it was gluten that caused my unhappy bowel! I've cut it all out and the difference is amazing. Before going gluten free I would always blow up by the end of the day - look about 6 months pregnant and feel very uncomfortable. I used to think it was wheat, but turns out I can't tolerate any kind of gluten.I was tested for celiac disease, but it came back negative. So I guess I am intolerant, but not officially allergic.

I just realized today that I'm only a month off being 44.(So you are not alone Hippy) Bugger! I thought I might have fallen pregnant by then.Maybe I will.Maybe we all will!

I had a very strange dream this morning, where I found I had two new babies which I'd left in the laundry room! I found them and thought, "I had better feed them and change their nappies!".There was a boy and a girl. I think my subconscious is asking me if I could really handle another baby( or two). I do wonder. But at the end of the day I know nothing will surpass the joy of a new little person in my life. Even just two lines on a test will make my heart sing!

Well, I best go and put my feet up before all the kids get home!

Diege · 12/10/2010 10:47

Thanks for the new and improved list GG!! It will certainly make life cimpler lsting-wise, and also we can see at a glance where people are up to. Good ging on the SWI too Wink
Italian I had, in my early 30s, really bad candida that was in my gut etc - I could even taste yeast in my mouth in the morning and felt very bloated and lethargic etc. I cut out yeast and sugar from my diet and it went ina matter of months. I also took acidophilus(??) capsules that I think also helped. I have since reintroduced yeast and sugar (in vast quanuities!) to my diet but apart from the odd flare up have been fine. Didn't effect my fertility either.
40some oh yes, you need a slanket. We have our very own slanket box in the snug too Grin
Right, boss is lurking, back later!

galwaygal · 12/10/2010 10:11

40some - slanket yes it is indeed a blanket with sleeves! But useful for comfort during the 2ww and for keeping dh's under control.

Jolls - the person you saw was talking rubbish. I have had 3 children but still they took my dh blood to see if there was genetic incompatability. The genetics test is the one that takes the longest to get back, the others should be quite quick. I would ring and get another appt asap.

diege - I did it for you!

italian - have you seen the doc about the bloating????

got to go do some housework... Hmm

Italiangreyhound · 12/10/2010 02:23

Hi all

Jolls sorry that sounds like a horrible Sad (and none too hygienic) visit to the hospital (lying on the floor and all). Hope you will get some answers. You know it is not your fault. Whatever happens in our bodies we are not responsible for every bit that goes on! I think we of all people are probably doing all we can to make it happen. I would imagine none of us are boozing and smoking our way thought life!

Hippy sorry to hear of your troubles with hubby. I hope he will get some help and answers, I for one have to praise counsellors who are able to really help in some situations.

Hippy here is a message for you, and us all from Susan.

I left a message on her blog about the Inconceivable book and she replied on her blog....

"Thanks - Triumphs over despairs are always welcome. Be sure to whisper to Hippy that I am following 'the' plan. I will be sure to keep you all updated of any major developments! xx "

muchlove you have months to go before birthday, you are still well behind me.

Diege, Gum and GG, and all, greetings to all and hope you are all fine, please can someone tell 40somemum where she can get a slanket!! My local post office is selling a fake one, in a box (it is like a blanket with a head hole!).

Tonight I had a simple meal (Thai curry - home made with rice) and a soya yoghurt, two glasses of wine and some fruit and did a half hour exercise video. Sound relatively healthy? Well now my tummy is starting to feel tummy mega swollen!

I might be making some headway on my bloating problem -just paid a fine on a book I borrowed but did not read! (Doh) But DH came up with some stuff on the internet on bloating (for free!), clever old DH.

My hubby found a website with info on Candida. Has anyone got it, heard of it? It seems fruit and sugar (alcohol too) are not good for it! Kind of hope it is not that but also wonder if it is and I can find a cure it well it may be an answer. From my limited research on the Internet it sounds like it has all kinds of possible implications which I have (itchy skin and more!) including possible fertility implications. No idea if it is all true or all true for me. Would welcome some arrow prayers for answers from any prayers out there and also if anyone else has any experience of it, please do shout!

Love to all.

All the best.

40someMum · 11/10/2010 22:34

what exactlty is slanket ?? Confused

Diege · 11/10/2010 22:07

Sorry Jollster, meant to say that sounds like a bloody nightmare at the clinic - Not sure I'd hold out much hope with them ringing you on a mobile Hmm. Hoping they can get their act together for you. Or could you try a different clinic?

Diege · 11/10/2010 22:04

Jollster that's an excellent idea re: labelling what 'phase' we're in - maybe baggy pant/vest and shorts/slanket? Grin
GG you know you're going to have to grit yourself and SWI don't you? Come on, you're a woman, you can do it Grin
Hello Notanotter - you don't 'know' me but I seem to remember you having lots of children and frequently finding myself in awe of you on other threads Blush
Right, bed beckons. Have to be in work for 8am tomorrow which is not going to be fun at all...Night all!
ps: Hope things are ok Hippy?

randomimposter · 11/10/2010 21:39

extra big hug for Hippy... Hope everyone doing ok.

Don't think I posted last week about my first appt for recurrent MC testing. Oh what a hoot, let's just say, left hand and right hand not in communication, was told I was going just to fill in forms, oh no, we can do your blood today, Med Student taking blood - 4 attempts, collapsed vein, Jollster lying on floor otherwise would have fainted, then told no need for DP to make appt for blood "you have a child together, you can concieve, but you can't carry - subtext it's your fault", departments telling me totally different things on how long the bloods take to come back, hence no consensus on when to book next appt and with whom... could be 12 weeks, leave us your mobile number, we'll call you....

Hey ho.

Anyhoo.... just changing my CD... LOVING Hippy's status. (Just a thought, is it worth amending the stats list, more to the Who's in the big baggy period pants, who's in the SMEP phase, who's in the Slanket 2ww phase...? Then you don't have to amend the CD every day...? OR something equally simple.... or on a countdown to next POAS day...?)

40some - have you tested today????!!!!

Hippy - I have two bi-polar sister-in-laws, it is not fun even being a relative, can't imagine having to live with it day-to-day. Hope that your dh was just having a blip day rather than starting a downer. Especially as you have to get jiggy with it in a couple of days time. Or are you starting the SMEP today????

I am in ov-time, but with the headcold definitely do not feel like SWI. Instead on mn and recording old VHS tapes to DVD. But I have just started copying an old tv program I recorded,,,,,, life before birth. It was on tv years ago, facinating, but not quite what I need to be watching. should just stop the recording and ditch the tape, but I am sitting here enthrawled by it. grrr why do I torment myself.

Oh Hippy you poor thing, come here and give your besser a hug. I think you're entitled to the odd 'down' day. Have updated your stats accordingly Wink. I sort of know where you're coming from with your dh, as dh has been through quite a dark patch (before I met him, on ADSs etc) but touch wood there have only been a few head under the bedclothes days since we met. I can imagine how frustrating it must be to deal with, and fingers crossed it was just a blip from your last post x
muchlove, we'll get our number 5s I'm sure, esp as we have such good track records Grin.
Gum sod being rational, why not be hopeful? Grin. Let's face it, whatever approach you take to the 2ww it's a crushing blow whether you're testing avidly or taking the head in the sand approach. So which are you taking? Grin
I'm feeling back on track today as feel my body's gearing up for ov ; day 10 and faintish lines on opk, some ewm, and sore boobs. More like my usual cycle after last month's late ov. I have also decided to book in for some botox for af time, then if not pregnant I have something positive (in a warped way) to look forward to. Obviously if pregnant will cancel!
Right, dh back any min with ds and dd2 - back later x

hippychick66 · 11/10/2010 14:37

Ta muchlove. I agree with what you say, I wouldn't mind being 44 at all except that it means my blasted eggs are 44 as well.

And yes, i sometimes feel stupid for even expecting it to happen at this age. But there are women on MN who have them at 48 so we have to keep believing.

DH has emailed me from work and sounds chirpy enough so I hoping yesterday was more of a glitch than a 'dark time'. Hmm

Take home babies for all. Grin It does sound a bit like a home delivery take away service.

I'm currently watching 'Single Father' on catch up. It isn't exactly lifting my mood cos I'm at the bit where he finds out his wife is dead (not a plot spoiler cos the title says that anyway!). Ahh well it is making me re-assess my problems. Grin

muchlove · 11/10/2010 14:27

Oh HIPPY lovely I am sorry that it's crap for you at the moment - I don't have experience of living with this (though I think my mother verged on it during my childhood) I can only imagine how difficult it can be for all of you during the DARK TIMES ...... thinking of you all and sending virtual hugs,

xx

I'll be 44 in 5months Sad rubbish innit ?
To be honest I only feel old when it's about TTC otherwise I would'nt be bothered about it...... infact getting to 40 wasn't as bad as I expected but TTC after 40 has been HELL and it makes me feel really stupid and ridiculous even trying to make it happen !!!
Oh bloody hell ..crap..bum..and bollox to it all ..... so all you 40 to 43 yr olds rejoice in your time trying now because it just goes so flipping quick ..... Oh god just let me have a BFP and a TAKEHOME baby bfore I'm 45 Pleeeeeeaaaasssseeee

Oh yeah and I think im cycle day 18 for the updating list

Age 43 CD 18 trying (like there's no 2morow) for bubba number 5 ...............

hippychick66 · 11/10/2010 13:55

I have been reading a really good thread on MN about women whose Hubbies are depressed and it has made me feel a lot better. I have also ordered a good book from Amazon called - How you can survive when they're depressed. At least he still has his libido Grin.

hippychick66 · 11/10/2010 11:45

I hate the way this list starts with Hippy aged 44 - arrrghhhh!!!! That just can't be true Sad Did someone make a huge mistake Smile.

Feeling totally shit today ladies. My DH suffers from bouts of depression (not really his fault, stuff in his childhood) I know it's tough for him when the dark cloud descends but it is also feckin' hard for those who live with him.

I feel like walking away from it all at the moment, forgetting IOW and another baby and just making a life for me and my boys. I know I wont do it and I love my DH to bits but when he is down he can't really see what it's doing to us.

He could be fine in a day or it could be a week of him sculking off to 'be alone' and barking at me and the boys.

I know you'll suggest councelling but we've been there and done that years ago and he wont really acknowledge the need now.

Anyway, I'm sorry I was away from the snug all week-end. We were very busy plus I was living with a bi-polar git who went from lovey-dovey to grumpy without any warning Angry.

I'm meant to start SWI at the end of this week but don't feel that way inclined at all!!!

Sorry for the me, me, me post. Will come back later when i'm not so pissed off.

Waking up in the night to pee and also feeling ravenous in the middle of the night: pregnancy symptoms? I do remember having to get up in the night for a banana or sandwich with Charlie's pregnancy, but I think it was after 4 weeks.Does seem a bit early at 5 dpo!!

I don't want to be too hopeful.I felt really hopeful last month only to be let down.Don't want that again, but it is hard not to be hopeful. It is a roller coaster of ups and downs every month. I can see why the stress gets to some people after a couple of years...
My naughty 2 year old is running amok! Heavy sigh....But also sooo very grateful to have the lovely boy in my life. Smile

Italiangreyhound · 11/10/2010 00:40

Not 6 September, 6 August!!!

Italiangreyhound · 11/10/2010 00:37

Galwaygirl I am 45, if you want my age and my last period started on about 6 September so does that make me cd63 - what does CD stand for?

Watching Parenthood. It's heartbreaking and funny, even thought I know how it all ends (not spoiling anyone's fun by saying babies all round!) and yet it is brilliant. Maybe my fav movie of all time! Trying to the ironing at the same time.

Googling around to see if dairy is good or bad. Found this...

and

and

They are old posts but seem to say full fat dairy is better than low fat for ONE type of ovarian problem, but read if interested.

Then I found this which was quite negative about dairy altogether in relation to fertility!

40someMum · 10/10/2010 22:41

thanks for update galway Wink

galwaygal · 10/10/2010 21:36

40some - Happy Birthday,,,,, the snug is full of extra yummy chocolate cake for your birthday, and a big bottle of wine to swig with it. Enjoy.

I did not get my AMH test result yet, my next doc appt is at the end of november, so should be told then.

Ashermans - yes the last doc I saw said best to not have erpc if it can be avoided. It is very much hyped in the US but less so here. When I had my scan after my eprc, there was scarring, and it is clear that if you had repeated erpc's it could cause problems.

Itailian - well done on the dairy free, it is hard to cut it out, it is in so many things. Wierd about your af going awol. Will you go back to the doc's about it? RE alfiemac, I remember the name but not what happened to her.

I am feeling a bit better from the headcold, still snuffly, (thank you for the chicken soup diege!) but not got the energy to SWI like I should be, but then I guess it won't do me too much harm to have another month of not being preggers. Will have to put my full effort in next month I think. ##

PS Does anyone know what happened to Alfiemac, she was on here a while back, had twin sons and was trying to conceive in her 40s.

Italiangreyhound · 10/10/2010 20:27

40somethingmum apologies I think we cross posted. Sorry you were sad at your ds on the phone from college but well done him for being one of the 6% to go to uni, is it still 6%??

Not sure what Asherman's is.

40someMum · 10/10/2010 20:23

oooh Italians post just reminded me of something my consultant said...

he basically told us to go away and get on with it and that he could not really help re mc risk etc. What he DID say is DO NOT have surgical option if you do miscarry due to ashermans

Have any of you been advised of this? ( i am not high risk or anything and have only had one - no complications) but he was quite adamant...?

Italiangreyhound · 10/10/2010 20:17

Hippy Glad the meeting went well. I think it is a good idea to steer clear of the thuggish behaviour and hopefully the head teacher will investigate where that is all coming from. He sounds like an angry child. I think sometimes kids do try and befriend the nasty-behaved kid as it is easier than just avoiding them (or appears to be) I am sure I made friends with a toughie or two but I have also seen it backfire. So glad I am not at school anymore! But amazingly at least the schools do seem to be a bit more aware than they were back in my day (a million years ago!). PS super sperm does not make 5 babies, super eggs do!

Curlylox Yes, I am always up late. A bad habit I got into in childhood! I think many people are either night owls or morning larks. The people who say they are neither are probably larks! We are all creatures of habit, to an extent, and what started at age 5 continues to now! Must break that habit!

Welcome back Gum. Good to hear your Aussie 'twang'.

Jolls good to see you too.

Rowing and all, hello and smiles and all that jazz.

I'd like to order the baked Camembert, Diege or whoever is doing the cooking.

I am dairy free now for a few days and miss cheese. My bloating is as bad as ever but I am feeling maybe being dairy free and drinking some Puka herbal tea is always good.

I have almost finished reading Inconceivable: A Woman's Triumph Over Despair and Statistics by Julia Indichova. I want to talk about it but I am sacred I will spoil it for you guys so I will start a new thread for anyone who has read it to comment, and especially anyone who has tried her way out ways!

There is a website too www.fertileheart.com/ I am looking into it, I can't recommend it as I know nothing about it really but it intrigues me. I have been down this route before, looked at a similar (I guess) UK version called Foresight www.foresight-preconception.org.uk/ The 'danger' for people like me with no eggs (and even my periods have now vanished!) is it holds out some hope when really it may be not a reality but the plus is that maybe something would work. Struggling as I did to move my 'massive' weight issues (no I am not quite that bad - you are now all picturing me unable to lift myself up from a bath chair and surrounded by a tartan rug the size of Croydon!) well, with weight issues it seemed other things could not make much difference! But now the weight is slowly shifting I wonder if all over healthy eating may be a wholesome approach. I've tried it off and on but get swayed back!

My AF has still not appeared and I am a bit concerned. I last had a period on holiday in August so that was starting around the 6th Aug and it is now after the 6th October so I think that is well and truly over 2 cycles I have missed. My cupboard is stacked full of tampons and panty liners because I still buy in bulk when I see them on special offer! Yes, we are creatures of habit!
