TTC for June 2011 baby - anyone else?

DH and I are TTC no 2 but getting a little depressed at the lack of success so far. Thought a thread on here might help by chatting with others in a similiar situation as obviously not something we are shouting about in RL.

We have DS (2yrs 3 mths) and have been TTC since the start of the year. Last couple of months I have used OPKs and had convinced myself I was pregnant last month , but just a strange long cycle.

Anyone else fancy cheering each other up along the way of TTC?

You are a baby :) heheh I am 39 - so I feel like my ovaries as just saying 'I can't be bothered this month'. You have to laugh or you would cry. Which reminds me I had ovary type pains on one side last night, CD7, that cant be ovulation can it. Might OPK when I calm Damien the Omen down :)...

It is so funny, I went on line to say exactly the same about my little boy - he is screaming the house down now, I have to try this, because nothing else is working. He is not sick. I said exactly the same to my DH. Oh well. Maybe they are reminding us so we relax a little, I am not convinced it will calm me if my AF comes.

Off to calm crazy little man!

Thanks patchwork - that was a new one for me! I know what you mean about feeling more sure of the right time - I was pretty certain the last couple of months too. It could be taking longer due to age - I am nearly 34 now.
Had a bad night with DS1 last night due to cough, cold and high temp. He is normally such an excellent sleeper I had forgotten what disturbed nights were like. AS DH stomped off to work late and tired this morning I thought about how we would cope if we do get no2!!

Pre-seed is a - www.preseed.co.uk/ TMI or what hehe? Anyway, I was told about it when I was trying with DS and it worked a treat or so I think. It is more useful if you have been trying for awhile, if you are finding the stress of it all is taking the fun out of things, if you know what I mean Blush.

I agree, I got to know my cycles pretty well over the last 4-5 months, so I feel more sure of the right times. I think the frustration is that last month, I thought I got it right - but as my OH keeps saying 'even with everything we know and are doing, there is still only a certain percentage of possibility of hitting the target' - he means relative to your age bracket. Which I know is true. I am just looking for a miracle or some magic trick or wand really hehe

opps - did not mean it to come out twice!

Patchwork - I think with DS1 it took time for my body to adjust to coming off the pill. I had been on it continually for 12 years up till then. I was hoping this time things would be quicker as had only been back on it a year or so. I did get frustrated but knew the doctors would not show much interest till after a year. I think the key was learning a bit more about how it all worked! I was very ignorant about my cycle etc then and got pregnant the second month of using OPKs.

Know a bit more now but taking longer! 9 months now. But obviously still a bit thick - what do you mean by preseed?

I started using OPK two cycles ago and preseed - so fingers crossed for this month. My cycle is now 28/29 days and I ovulate pretty regularly on CD14 - says the OPK, so in theory it is just a matter of time - I just wish 'the time' was NOW! :)

jigglebum - I am interested to hear about the first taking 6 months - did you feel like you had lost hope a bit or get any assistance from the doctor or try any magic trick?

jigglebum · 12/09/2010 18:19

Fingers crossed for you gettingonmynerves. Hope it is good news for you this month. I think I am about cycle 8 so know how frustrating it is.

I am on CD24 but had some spotting a couple of days ago. In theory I am still in with a chance this month but I'm pretty sure af will arrive by wed/thurs. This is cycle 7 for me.
Jigglebum, (love the name and can identify with that condition too), long cycles are pain and it's horrible when you've convinced yourself you're pregnant.

jigglebum · 11/09/2010 21:30

Patchwork I am CD13 but have a long cycle (35 days ish) so not BD ing too much just yet! Are you using OPKs? I am not sure how useful I really find them as never get a really dark second line when ovulating so get worried I am not! DS 1 took us 6 months to conceive so hopeful something will happen soon.

yes, I want to be happy for people and I am really, but I can't get my head around why we are now on to cycle 5 and still trying. I know I need to get it in perspective, but it is haaaarrrddd. I am on CD3, what are you ladies all on?

jigglebum · 11/09/2010 12:37

Hi
good luck to you all and thanks for your support. I was so gutted when my AF arrived last month - CD40 so was convinced I was pregnant. Even restrained my drinking at my BIL s ace wedding just in case! What a waste!
It is so easy to get obbessed isn't it. Sorry to hear no luck this month patchwork and gettingonmyownnerves.

I find it hard when all my friends (with one DC, similiar age to DS) seem to be either announcing pregnancies or having their 2nd. Both pregnant friends at the moment appeared to conceive first month of trying - and you can't help but be pleased for them but jealous as hell!

I really hope so. My DH thinks i have gone mad with my obsession, so I might join that bus as well.

gettingonmyownnerves · 10/09/2010 20:32

We conceived our first quickly too and foolishly assumed it would be the same this time.
Thanks ravenlocks, might join the june bus and avoid driving my dh mad with what is turning into a bit of an obsession.
Sorry your AF arrived, patchwork, maybe next month will be better for us

patchworkquilt · 10/09/2010 19:45

I hear you. It is so frustrating. I got my AF Wednesday and had a big old meltdown. I feel a bit better today, but it is rubbish trying and failing, even if it is number two - we conceived really quickly with our first, makes it all a bit harder to bear.

ravenlocks · 10/09/2010 19:35

Hey. Share your pain! Pop over to 'The June Bus' if you fancy it, loads of us ladies on there trying for a June 2011 baby and sharing the trials and tribulations... and have a few giggles along the way.

gettingonmyownnerves · 10/09/2010 18:45

You've inspired me to de-lurk as am in a similar situation. TTC no 2 since early in the year and getting a bit fed up. I am only on CD 23 but already have spotting so think I am out of luck this month. Trying to resign myself to being in this for the long haul.
