So near, yet so far! Holiday villa for those waiting TTC#1 having suffered mc

MamaPower · 09/09/2010 18:02

Hi all,

I need to take a holiday with some lovely peeps in the same position; I'm TTC#1 but had 2 mc's this year and now discovered my luteal phase is only 9 days (anything under 10 considered a defect) and probably the reason that I cannot retain a pregnancy.

If you have yet to be blessed with motherhood because mc has cruelly taken away your chance so far, then this is the place to retreat for some R & R whilst your body recovers.

Pull up a sun lounger, and lie back for some lighthearted banter and support whilst monitoring cycles or undergoing investigation and wash down the Vit B6, Agnus Castus, Progesterone and Clomid with a lovely vodka glass of sparkling spring water!!

on the other thread I posted some links about AC, 'fraid you will have to search back a bit to find them. Good news that you had pos OPKSmile

kat2504 · 17/09/2010 21:34

MA thanks for the info. Haven't tried AC yet so suppose that might be a first port of call once I have properly googled it. Have never been sure of the herbal stuff but if it is proven not to do any harm it must be worth a try. Have had positive opk this month so hoping ov isn't a worry.

MummyAbroad · 17/09/2010 21:24

Kat Red Clover Blossom contains isoflavones which are estrogen-like compounds. However I have searched and searched and I can NOT find any scientific studies supporting its use for infertility, just a lot of stuff saying it has been used "traditionally" to treat irregular periods and menopause symptoms. (in contrast to AC where there ARE studies) I took it in the first half of the cycle in the hope that it would help my body make enough estrogen to kick start ovulation. I think it worked because I had a temp shift a week later Smile

kat2504 · 17/09/2010 18:23

Ha ha lilo slapping! nice one mamaP

I wish there was a stick you could POAS straight after. I hate having to wait. but suppose if there was a straightaway test all those horrible chem pregs would happen more. made best possible effort this month - three times in the "window" so it's all just wait and see. Totally depends if I have "measured the window" correctly. Ommmmmmmmmmmmm calm, must not purchase any first responses........ should I mention any sticks before the end of this month I need a serious slap.

MA never heard of the red clover blossom, what effect is that supposed to have?

Aurora sending you a death by chocolate gooey lovely slice of cake. Hope your trip away next weekend makes you feel a little better.

Today I have ordered us some champagne and strawberries. got to get your five a day ladies...... enjoy xxx

Hi snot face Grin Grin, happy day dream house hunting tomorrow x

OP posts:
Wombat33 · 17/09/2010 16:19

Hello all. Been a bit quiet around here today so I thought I'd pop in to let you all know that I've got a viewing for another cute but totally unaffordable house tomorrow morning. It's got a lovely family room Grin

Oh, and I haven't snottered at work today either GrinGrin

MamaPower · 16/09/2010 21:55

Biscuits, cakes, snottering at work, Mojito's, sail boats and sunsets...I love you lot and quite frankly that little catch up has been the second only thing to make me smile today! The first thing to make me smile is that doc finally agreed I could have bloods and investigation into LPD. The rest of the day has been totally and utterly shite cause dh forgot I was going to doc's and when I said he showed little interest in producing our family he went mad accusing me of being obsessive blah blah blah... WTF?!! Sniffle sniffle

Where's Velvet? Did you pass out with the rrrrrrrum in that mojito? Isn't that just the perfect all time best summer drink!

Howdy Pretty (I just realised that i've always called you pretty even though everyone else has always called you PV...see your so special you have 2 names), at least while you are waiting there's a lovely pool and the poolside bar has been proving very busy of late!

Kat and Owl I have a lilo in the pool but I am prepared to use it as a fish slapping substitute should you even think about POAS Grin Grin.

Waves to Nicks, MA

Passes poolside cocktails to Dachs lottie, Hairy, Wakari hope you girls are all doing well?

Slightly Envy that Choccy must be in Greece!

Ginger nuts and chocolate hobnobs oh and I am a dunker...always have been Grin

That took an age, did I get you all, did I? Sorry if I didn't xx

sorry for butting in,

Aurora I used Evening Prim, but only in the first part of cycle, once you have ovulated you should stop. Cant say whether it helped as I had never checked pant snot before using it(its supposed to help with this) but I definately had plenty 2 days after a positive OPK. I also took Red Clover Blossom, again in the first half of the cycle only.

hope that helps...

AuroraLeigh · 16/09/2010 19:37

Incidentally. Someone suggested I take oil of evening primrose to get me back on track now (ie, ovulating, I suppose). Any thoughts on that? What about agnus castus? Had heard this is really strong and prob best not messed with! I am a complete vitamin junkie, btw. I take so many, I ought to rattle.

Wombat, I too can take or leave ice cream, except for Haagen Dazs Pralines and Cream. I ate a whole tub on Tuesday. Felt v sick afterwards.

Wombat33 · 16/09/2010 18:09

Aurora I'm sorry you had your bad news confirmed. I hope your pregnant friend was able to be supportive. I also hope your lovely new basque cheers you up!

Biscuits, cake, cheese... I'm not too fussy really when it comes to treats. Except ice cream. I can take that or leave it. On the cake front - chocolate fudge cake with mascapone from pizza express is my all time fav :)

AuroraLeigh · 16/09/2010 17:55

Hello all, have been quiet due to a "feeling overly sorry for myself" day, but trying to pull myself together now, stiff upper lip helped by a glass of wine and piece of cake :) Please don't kick me out when I say I am not really a biscuit kind of girl. I like full-blown big slices of messy, gooey, fattening cake instead...

Went to hospital yesterday. Had a blood test, and they told me I'd had a miscarriage. Which I knew. (They also told me I was anaemic, which I also knew). Hence feeling sorry for myself. And had long chat to an old friend who is 13 weeks pregnant, and we had been so excited at being pregnant together.

Yes, you should all follow my basque example! It has arrived, and I am hoping that I might actually feel like wearing it when we go away a week on Saturday...

Wombat - I've done that too. Now I'm crying again. Back to the cake. Lots of love to all xx

owlshoes · 16/09/2010 16:54

Buahahahahahahahaaha (sorry about that, my fellow POAS-addict)

Wombat33 · 16/09/2010 16:47

Thanks Owlshoes. Now one chai tea latte and one rocky road (the chocolate and marshmallow variety) down and feeling slightly less wobbly.

MummyA I forgive you for stealing biscuits from the Holiday Villa, but only because you've just had a load of fish guts dumped on your head on the other thread :)

owlshoes · 16/09/2010 16:17

Wombat oh noooooooooo! Snottering at work is never good, makes a right mess of your keyboard. This is all horribly new and painful for you right now but I promise it gets better, in time. You just need more biscuits. Lots more biscuits.

MummyAbroad · 16/09/2010 15:25
Wombat33 · 16/09/2010 14:58

Oh god. Now sitting here blubbing at my desk at work. Pull yourself together woman!

And I'm out of biscuits. Maybe some virtual ones will help.

There. Enough for everyone to share.

Wombat33 · 16/09/2010 14:39

Oooh to stroking things in M&P. I happened to walk past a store two weeks ago and wandered in gazing at all the lovely things and feeling so excited at our little secret nobody knew about. All my plans and dreams. Little did I know then I was already losing/had lost our LO :(

Sorry. I don't seem to be having the best day today for some reason.

owlshoes · 16/09/2010 12:59

Hello lovelies - and welcome PV :)

Keep stroking the pretty things in M&P - it will happen, oh yes, I just need to sacrifice more goats.

BRING ON THE GOATS.

Kat I am also embarking on 2WW and I make a solemn pledge not to a: test with any type of POAS unless AF is actually late, and b: not to google for early symptoms and then pretend to myself I have them all. Oh and c: not to go completely fecking mental like I have done the last couple of cycles.

Ahem.

calm.

PrettyVacant1 · 16/09/2010 12:33

Hello lovely Laydees. Grin
I'm taking the plunge so to speak and sidiling in to enjoy the cocktails and lunacy banter.
I'll leave off the biccies for a while as I think I must have gained about half a stone whilst partying/staying with faahmilly over the last week.

I'm an old hat with this MC malarkey, my 6th was a molar Preg in Jan and we've been trying for around 3 years and this time again officially for 4 months.
I'm getting rather bored of it all and am starting to wonder if the pretty things I stroke in Mamas&Papas will ever feature in my life anytime soon.

Fookin hell, I need to snap out of this.
I'm going to grab a Sex on the Beach and a good book and sit by the bar if anyone needs me.

Dachs hope you're feeling better and not missing your pups too much.
I've not seen my puds for a week now and keep mithering the outlaws on the phone to see if he's eating/warm/happy.
I see him tomorrow. Smile

Sorry not to namecheck you all, I'm being yelled at to move it, move it.
DP has now learnt to give me a 5 min warning when I'm on MN.... that was 15 mins ago. GrinGrin
Hi Owl, Velvet, Wombat, Kat, Mamap, Aurora and Hairy too.
Sorry if I've missed anyone , rilly must skidaddle. X

Velvetcu · 15/09/2010 19:41

I love stale ginger nuts too!!!

kat2504 · 15/09/2010 18:03

owl am the same - hoping for some actual morning sickness next time round. And any other symptom that I lost at seven weeks this time. I will of course be wishing I didn't have them when the time comes but they will at least be a good sign.
I am not telling my DP about any of the opk stuff or any sciency details. He must have some clue about basic biology and the right time of the month really, but I don't tell him when it is and try to engineer a nice fun situation. Isn't it an irony that opk/baby talk is a major passion killer.

Starting the two week wait for the first time tonight. Will i keep sane and away from the first responses?
wombat hope it is all over for you know. I hated trying to get a BFN it just reminded me of how happy I was when I had a BFP for the first time. Wanting to see a BFN felt awful, but I was relieved when it did happen.

Wombat33 · 15/09/2010 16:34

Perhaps we should all follow Aurora's basque example to get our DH's in the mood! Wink

PS jam/cream biscuits are good but a definately a bit lacking in the chocolate department :)

owlshoes · 15/09/2010 15:42

Well???? Any good? I love the idea of them being 'essential'.

I love chocolate caramels and ginger nuts but also jaffa cakes and rich teas, and those Fox's ones that come in a tin, and...

well you get the picture.

And yes, dachs ARGH. Am going to explain to DH that I have been carefully POASx7 mornings in a row waiting for this day to arrive, and now require his co-operation or I will be a miserable caah for the next 3 weeks. Does he want that? No he does not.

However I think the rantier I get the less attractive I am. Oh dear.

Wombat33 · 15/09/2010 15:11

Humm, it's a tough one. I like choc caramel digestives for dunking (but you have to get the timing spot on so the caramel goes gooey but they don't go so soggy they fall off in your tea...

... am about to open the jam/cream thingies.
