So near, yet so far! Holiday villa for those waiting TTC#1 having suffered mc

MamaPower · 09/09/2010 18:02

Hi all,

I need to take a holiday with some lovely peeps in the same position; I'm TTC#1 but had 2 mc's this year and now discovered my luteal phase is only 9 days (anything under 10 considered a defect) and probably the reason that I cannot retain a pregnancy.

If you have yet to be blessed with motherhood because mc has cruelly taken away your chance so far, then this is the place to retreat for some R & R whilst your body recovers.

Pull up a sun lounger, and lie back for some lighthearted banter and support whilst monitoring cycles or undergoing investigation and wash down the Vit B6, Agnus Castus, Progesterone and Clomid with a lovely vodka glass of sparkling spring water!!

Owl I refuse to fish you, symptom spotting is fine...but if you start POAS then I'll find the biggest bugger I can to slap you with!! Grin Grin I was also the size 8 varietal but I'm also a tall bean and I am guessing you are too, every cloud Wink

Velvet when's the big 30?

Oh man. The insanity switch has been flicked. Woke up this morning with weird twingy feeling in lower middle. I am always dead good during 2WW until I get the first 'oooo is this a symptom?' and then I immediately go bat-shit mental.

Gahhhhhhh.

Pliz bury me in pile of feesh.

Fabulous leg-warmers, btw, nicks Grin

Kat tis normal to expect all manner of post-MC barking mad OPK results - hormones are annoyingly unpredictable things. On the other hand you might just have been gearing up for ovulation then your body decided to hang on and wait 6 days then give it another bash - stranger things have happened!

I had the worst shoes ever in the 80s - this is cos of the giant hands and giant feet problem. They were size 8 white leather sandals which I remember wearing with black tights when I was about 13. Dear god. No wonder I never had a boyfriend.

kat2504 · 20/09/2010 22:48

velvet when is your birthday - hope you manage to arrange something really nice to celebrate. Even if you cant get a hall you could always go for a top night out somewhere.

Have indulged my poas addiction with an opk. Whyyy?? At least it wasn't a preg test. I was expecting a negative opk, I just wanted to indulge my need to dip sticks into a cup. But I got a positive. wtf??! I'm sure the result i had six days ago was positive enough. Feeling a bit annoyed that despite my best efforts have missed chance this month. Grrrrrr. Really must stop all this science nonsense until I have had three months of regular cycles.

Enjoying the disco, wearing my ra-ra skirt and singing along to Tiffany and Kylie. No drinks from me tonight I am trying to be good! Sending tropical fruits to snack on, served by dishy waiters...

Velvetcu · 20/09/2010 22:37

Whoop whoop I'm loving the 80s vibe :)

I have to confess I'm OPKing this month just to make sure it is happening and fits in with the dates I'm expecting. And Kat - I have hidden mine too!!

As for SE rabbit-hutches, I live in Medway in Kent which is a really crappy place except for some little pockets. I live in one of them and I have a pretty decent sized house for what is reasonable for down here.

Am starting to plan my 30th birthday but having trouble finding a hall! I left it too late coz I wasnt gonna bother but have decided to try and stop feeling sorry for myself and get on with it.

MamaPower · 20/09/2010 22:32

i'm stalking your posts nicks mwahhahaha! OMG...I loved my polka dot ra-ra skirt and red leg warmers, and don't forget pixie boots!!

Evening my little 80's dancers!!
Just to say DH fully redeemed...got home to a massive bouquet of flowers with a lovely little note. Ah, love is in the air Smile

Wombat, happy SWI may it bring a BFP to this fred Grin

PS Owl you might sleep with your mouth open...I just don't sleep, been an insomniac for years...didn't realise this may affect temping!! Not looking good so far!

I confess that the schools and 'family friendly' atmosphere are some of the main reasons we're trying to buy there, despite the current absence of DCs Blush. It's, ahem, forward planning...

On that note - smiley face on the OPK here this morning. SWI begins in earnest!

AuroraLeigh · 20/09/2010 08:37

Ah, house prices...I grew up in south Bucks, and my parents and a lot of my friends still live there, and the house prices are a bit terrifying. Still, my SIL lives in central London, and she has just paid exactly twice our house budget for a 2 bed flat (we are buying a 4 bed house with large garden). There's something to be said for rural with poor travel links :) The schools in S Bucks are good though, on the upside...

MamaPower · 19/09/2010 23:07

ooooh is that the sounds of club tropicana I can hear?? gotta love the 80's!! Must confess was listening to the best of wham on my I-pod earlier, must dig out culture club too Grin That brings back some very very funny memories!

All this expensive South East house talk is concerning, we plan to move down there early next year and I had dreamt of buying something bigger than a Rabbit Hutch!!

Dachs glad you finally got some warmth, much needed it's turned pretty chilly!

Kat it's normal hon, I had to leg it out of a shop in the middle of Canary Wharf cause two women were chatting about their pg friend, and mama's and papa's was a spectacular crash and burn moment. All, I can say is, it gets easier, I promise Smile

Velvet once my body is sorted think I will have to take on your method of chilling out about ttc! I will actually delight in throwing away OPK and temping charts, it'll almost be a relief to just have fun without the SWI pressure!

Night all, have a good week xx

PS Wakari if you're lurking hope all is well x

thanks dachs can you also please slap me with a fish. I have committed the sin of ordering some ultra earlies off the internet. Promised DP I would not be doing this -have already hidden all the opks. Will have to be strong and try not to test early.

Thanks for sorting out the disco I am really enjoying the cheesy dancing and singing along.

DachshundsRule · 19/09/2010 21:26

yep, our garden shed is also in the south east - berkshire. commuterville is expensive. we were thinking of relocating to south bucks wombat (so DH could have a better commute) but our current commute takes us into paddington and my office is about 3 minutes walk from the station, so I want to stay in the area we currently live! hope you enjoyed your tea in bed!

kat sorry you had one of those moments today

owl thanks. it's much nicer now the house isn't a freezer.

mamap I hope your day improved!

aurora forgot to say thanks for the cake!

kat2504 · 19/09/2010 12:04

grrrr unexpected emotional grrr in IKEA where i went for plates and teatowels and a shoe rack but the walk around the place takes you through the kiddy area with cots and toys and highchairs. A few months ago I was browsing there with intent to buy the stuff :( Gave me a horrible sad feeling.

I've been trying the bbt a bit with the original intent of doing it properly next month but since I wake up at 6 on weekdays, I'd have to do that on weekends and I think there is no way that is going to happen.

Very pleased that I don't have any pg friends at the moment, or colleagues. Obviously would be happy for anyone to get updiffed, but it does make my life a bit easier at the moment.

I also can't afford to buy anything larger than a garden shed. How does anyone on normal salaries buy a house in the south east?

Sharing some nice choccie biccies from Ikea and hoping you ladies are having a nice time by the pool today.

owlshoes · 19/09/2010 10:13

Morning all :)

I know that feeling, wombat , I live in Oxford and frankly if you can afford more than a garden shed here you are lucky :/ It's the London commmute thing again. Why on earth does everyone want to go to London? It's smelly and full of grumpy people.

DH wanted to move to a bigger garden shed the minute I told him about the bfp but he now unfortunately understands why so many people seem to move during their third trimester instead of earlier on...needless to say we won't be moving any time soon and if we ever manage to conceive again the offspring will have to sleep in a cardboard box in our bedroom. Ah well, they're only small aren't they?

Wombat33 · 19/09/2010 09:55

ooh. Tea and toast in bed! Wow you girls are amazing!

Dachs 'our area' is south buckinghamshire, just outside london but easily commutable. Just where everyone else in the world (or just the lottery winners!?!) wants to live it would seem!

Ps DH says I have to tell you that he is actually now making me tea in bed (he didn't want to be put to shame by you all!)

Got woken up by phone...at 8am on a Sunday! Angry How rude!

Not very romantic this ttc is it? I just assumed I'd be like all the other women in my family... it would just happen, now Im using OPK and sticking a thermometer in my mouth before I even move!

PS dachs DH much improved and yesterday sat patiently through me explaining the temping thing... hee hee!
Can I have a lovely slice of toast to go with that cuppa you just made please? mmmm!

DachshundsRule · 19/09/2010 08:20

wombat without meaning to pry, where is 'your area'? All you can get in my preferred area for what we have is a tiny little shoebox and I keep looking at properties on rightmove and falling in love with them, but then DH turns round and says we can't afford things that cost four times as much as our combined salaries will get us on a mortgage. I think we'll be moving in a year or two, but I still have to persuade him that winning the lottery is the way to go...

Hello everyone else. The house is fractionally warmer now we have some heaters, but it'll be nice to get our central heating and hot water back tomorrow.

Wombat33 · 19/09/2010 01:11

Evening all. I'm on phone so can't post much (and can't access the other thread for some reason). I'm away for the night at a reunion dinner. Lovely eve and only two pregnancy announcements... :(

House this morning was nice but it's amazing how little you get for your money in our area. Quite terrifying. Still we'll find our nest eventually.

Will do personals tomorrow. Hope you're all having a relaxing weekend x

AuroraLeigh · 18/09/2010 20:36

I did bake - old-fashioned seed cake from a Delia recipe - not v exciting but nice, with a crispy sugary top :) All are welcome to a slice!

DachshundsRule · 18/09/2010 16:45

mamap hope DH is behaving himself better today. He sounds exactly like my DH, who forgot I had an appointment at the clinic and then accused me of being melodramatic when I pointed out I needed him to be supportive and interested and that I felt like I was doing this all on my own... He has, however, popped out this afternoon to buy some portable heaters 'cos I'm turning into an ice cube with no heating, so he's redeeming himself a little. Although his first response was 'put on another top' (This was despite me being bundled up under a blanket with two jumpers on already and blue fingers)

wombat How did the viewing go this morning?

Velvet Good luck with the SWI. Pregnant people posting about their pg on fb should be illegal... Photos doubly so.

aurora If you do bake later, can I nab some? :)

kat Enjoy your girls weekend! All this talk of food is making me hungry! :)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I am still dachshundless, as we decided to leave them in kennels until the building work was finished, and I'm missing them horribly.

Velvetcu · 18/09/2010 16:17

Phew, I have a minute or 2 to sit down and catch up with you all!

I love house hunting Wombat although it is annoying when you see one you want and either cant afford or you find out someone has already put an offer in! Our neighbours want to move so yesterday I had the whole "when you decide to have children you'll understand that these houses are a bit small" talk. As if you just "decide" and bingo out pops your healthy baby!!!

Anyway, despite staying away from stats obviously i am aware that it is my SWI week this week but I'm not going crazy about it. Will probably try for every other day but I'm trying to chill about the whole TTC thing.

Hope everyone is ok. I have 2 pregnant ex-colleagues moaning about not fitting into any clothes on FB - I wish there was an "ignore pregnant women" function!

AuroraLeigh · 18/09/2010 15:33

MummyAbroad thanks, I am now avidly taking evening primrose oil and will look out for red clover. Any straws to clutch at, I will clutch. I suppose I'm just impatient... NB pant snot...titter. Never heard that expression before but it seems appropriate!
kat thank you for the chocolate cake :) - am considering baking some later as am feeling a bit better today.
And mamap, I hope dh is being more supportive today. wombat, how was the unaffordable house? We had someone come to look at our house today but it wasn't you as we haven't got a family room! (hence the need for us to move...)
TV and knitting for the rest of the day now I think. Hope everyone's having a good weekend xx

kat2504 · 18/09/2010 12:12

hairy yay about the peak, hope you are making good use of it!Glad you are feeling better
