Time for us to move home again ladies!

OP posts:
KnackeredCow · 27/10/2010 11:45

Pants.

Just got DH's appointment through with the Andrology LAb for his SA to be done.

It's 12th November and there are instructions for him not to BD or ahem self relieve (sorry TMI Blush) for four days prior!!!! This coincides bang on with my fertile period Sad

Not sure whether to delay the appointment or just have a month off TTC and use it as an opportunity to de-stress. WWYD?

Also, is anybody else's DP / DH completely immature about going for SA? My DH refers to it as "making a seminal deposit at the wank bank" Hmm

KnackeredCow · 27/10/2010 11:33

From what you've said it's likely that your DP's sperm count is usually OK...

It's so difficult. 50% of conceptions miscarry and 1/5 established pregnancies. Do you think you could refrain from doing a pg test until AF a week late in future? I'm thining along the lines of ignorance is bliss. If you don't know that you've conceived.....

Obviously, that's not very helpful if you are MC at around the 6 week mark. Thining about it, do you think that perhaps your GP might be suspecting chromosomal abnormality in your DP's swimmers? Wondering if that's why he suggested he went to his own GP to request SA?

HTH but have just looked up recurrent MC in DH's handbook of general practice. On the up side it says no cause for recurrent MC is found in 50% of women. Where no cause is found 70% go on to have a successful pregnancy Smile

Maybe you've just been very unlucky? Sad

AnytimeNOW · 27/10/2010 11:00

I think we have conceived as I chart, cbfm, use opk sticks. So I basically get the timing near on perfect to catch the egg! But have had two miscarriages so far this year, both around the 6 week Mark. DP is devastated and unsure about trying again as hated to see me a hormonal mess. I'm willing to risk it, as it only takes one good swimmer ?? X

KnackeredCow · 27/10/2010 09:56

AnytimeNOW This may be a daft question, but if your DP's SA is so bad then surely that would make you very unlikley to conceive in the first place? I thought the standard protocol was to repeat if the result is poor?

Are your MCs recurrent?

AnytimeNOW · 26/10/2010 21:12

Thanks KC...His GP seems to think the result is so low referral is the only option.

Maybe it's a combination of both of us? getting pregnant, but only just, and then early mc.

GP was sure DP and I wouldn't get fertility treatment as I have two DC...granted they are a blessing, but surely it's sexist to deny DP a child of his own?...sorry mad as box of frogs!...

Thanks for your advice XXX

KnackeredCow · 26/10/2010 20:51

I don't think it's lying. It's more the belt and braces approach to investigation. I don't think there is anything to worry about. It will speed things up. If they do another SA with your DP and it's OK (which may well happen) then you know that the MC clinic is the best route. If the MC clinic can't find anything wrong then you'll be at the front of the queue for fertility with your DP already having been referred. Maybe your GP is thinking along the lines of the swimmers that are fertilizing your eggs might not be the best quality?

AnytimeNOW · 26/10/2010 20:13

Hi KC...that's the thing! I have a different GP, and we both chatted to him and he suggested that my DP went to his GP and asked for a sperm test, and to say we had been trying for 2 years!...which he did and now this??? honestly think my GP thought DP would be fine?..

So my DP's GP has referred him, and I'm headed to MC clinic...but my delemma is...

If we both start on the investigation route, we will need to tell the truth! and we haven't been totally honest ( on my gp's advice) otherwise we wouldn't be tested??? OMG head battered!...poor DP, got really important interview on Thursday, not ideal.

All very crap!

Sorry me is all DOOM![hblush]

KnackeredCow · 26/10/2010 19:36

Sorry to hear that the results weren't good AnytimeNOW. Sad What did your GP advise? Does your DP need to have another SA done?

What did the GP say about the fact that you are getting pg? I'd have thought that this means that you DP's swimmers are at least making it to the egg and fertilizing it?

AnytimeNOW · 26/10/2010 19:06

Hi All...just got back from getting DP's results...not good!.... these results might be in the wrong order, just trying to write down as GP was talking.

Motility = 46%
Sperm count = 7?
Morphology = 17

Anyone any ideas?? read up on the usual but do the numbers mean anything to anyone??

As you know we have been getting pregnant but HCG levels have never risen and have had MC's
is there hope????.....

KnackeredCow · 26/10/2010 18:30

Keziah Difficult as the sector I work in has very few bases in the North so really not much available. Sad Also, I think I'd really struggle with the loss of autonomy atepping down a level, but certainly something I should think about.

That said, I am feeling a bit perkier as I have managed to get an interview for a similar role at local charity - found out late this afternoon. Let's hope I can persuade them to take a risk on someone with a commercial background...

I really need to go back to work. Know EXACTLY what you mean by not fitting in the gap if you are off work but don't have kids. There just isn't much for women in that situation. 4 days sounds really perfect though Grin as you do get a day to yourself to do nice things but still have the structure and benefits of work. Really sounds like you have got the balance right.

Keziahhopes · 26/10/2010 18:02

Storm - thinks your dh needs to do some reading!! My dh insisted I wasn't getting a BFP as my BMI was 31!! He read too much! Mm, well BMI is now 27 and we now know it is male factors - guess what, not hearing him mention weight anymore!!

KC - sorry you not got a good job yet, could you get a similar one but perhaps at a lower level so you not so bored? I went down from full-time to 2 days a week to try and reduce stress etc, but found I had nothing to do as everyone works or has children and I don't fit either gap(now do 4 days!!)

KnackeredCow · 26/10/2010 14:00

Hi AnnaMarie I think that can happen. You get the high when the monitor detects the oestrogen surge, which in turn triggers the LH surge. If your oestrogen surge occurs immediately before your LH surge then it might have missed it and gone straight to peak. What day are you on and is this your first month using the CBFM

Storm Can I join in with your rant about men. They really don't get it. My DH thinks I'm obsessed too and has been equally insensitive by telling me so. I'm not a violent person but I really felt like whacking him Sad He's got a good career. I gave mine up to alleviate stress to find something more compatible with family life as he can't relocate at the moment (the head office where I worked was 225 miles away from where we live so I used to travel and stay away from home three nights a week). But having given up my career I haven't found anything suitable where we live in the North, or have got to final interview to be turned down - making me feel even more useless. I am so frustrated it's unbelievable. Told him it's bloody difficult not to obsess with getting pg when you've given up everything to make it happen, hate being a housewife, have lost self-esteem and feel really lonely. Angry Is it just me that feels this way ladies or is it really harder on the woman than the man?

StormBird · 26/10/2010 13:12

Hello Girlies......

Keziah Hi hun, hope you are ok, been reading through the posts again and just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. Smile

Emmylou Congratulations I am so pleased for you and v. Envy at the same time. Well done hun and I hope you have an easy breezy PG.

Sorry to anyone who AF got this month!!

Well so far I'm pretty sure that we haven't managed to get it right this month so am fully expecting AF in a week or so. DP seems to think that I am obsessing a bit too much, but I think I've calmed down about it all recently. What does he know anyway LOL!!

I'm also starting to get the impression that he has never listened to me when I've explained about the female body and when we are fertile etc etc. This all came about cos last week during my peaks we didn't do it cos he was not in the mood or too tired (ooh I sound like a man LOL)but then yesterday he said he'd got some silly feeling that if we got down to business we'd end up getting PG and totally disregarded the fact that I, a woman, only has a 12-24hr window of fertility each month........what is wrong with him!!!!!! Its so frustrating.

Anyway, I'm wishing AF is on her way so that we can start again and maybe he will listen to me this time.

Don't get me wrong, I don't pressure him and he does ask what the monitor says etc. I just think sometimes he can be realy thick!

Well, sorry for the rant!! Hope you ladies are keeping well.

Will pop in again soon xxx

AnnamariaHun · 26/10/2010 13:08

Hi Everyone

Im using the Clearblue Ovulation monitor and this month it went peak straight away without showing high
Has anyobody experienced this and what could be the reason?

PS i have been using it every day so i've not missed any

Thanks for your help

KnackeredCow · 26/10/2010 10:31

Hi All

Sorry to hear that AF has got both AnytimeNOW and Keziah [hsad]

I have started to spot so I know that AF is on her way for me too and will probably arrive in full force on Wednesday or Thursday. DH and I had a row yesterday Sad because he said "it didn't matter", or something along the lines of what a bloke would say when trying to comfort you but making a real hash of it. I ended up sobbing and then wouldn't talk to him. How mature of me. Definitely PMT!

Izzy If it's any consoloation it's unlikely that your luteal phase is getting shorter. When ovulation is delayed, the luteal phase should stay the same and so your period will be delayed. If your peak was yesterday, we can assume that you're ovulating now. LP is the number of days from ovulation (not peak) until the first day of full flow of AF. If you have a LP on the short side of the normal range, then you can expect AF anytime from Friday 5 November (although you might have some spotting before then). HTH [hsmile]

Lychees Glad to hear that you are doing OK.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 26/10/2010 10:01

Just popping in to say huge congrats to emmylou - absolutely fab news!!!

Am not holding out much hope this month as only got my peak yesterday (day 20) after 10 highs. Seeing as my last cycle was only 26 days my luteal phase seems to be getting shorter [hhmm]

still, not giving up yet! Fx for everyone on the thread, hope we get some more bfps soon! x

Thanks everyone for support. Looking after a toddler with dh right now (ironic, yes!), so empathise a bit there AnytimeNOW
Ovamahead - that is kind of you, any info etc would be most helpful.

Lychees · 25/10/2010 21:03

Congrats Emmy!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Lolita.

Anytime, hope tests = identifying issues = treatment = speedy BFP and H&H 9 months.

Notnearly, it is quite common for the CBFM to not give you a peak in your first month. It might go back to a single bar soon [low fertility]. And it will probably start flashing M on CD28, I think as it assumes a "normal" 28 days cycle. In the first few months it'll be recording your info to try and learn your cycle.

I am feeling strangely okay about not getting my BFP this month, despite the build up. So far, I haven't had the usual monthly emotional meltdown. One more month of trying and we'll be back to see our consultant about the next plan of action.

AnytimeNOW · 25/10/2010 17:28

Hello Everybody, hope all ok...
Been reading and catching up on the thread...

Well, there's been some good news and some badSad.

Keziah I really feel for you and your DH, you are having the worst time...You so do not deserve the shitty card you are being delt!...I think if most of us are honest we have all had some for of depression, I know I have over the years, and at some point thought it would get the better of me.

This whole emotional rollercoaster of TTC takes its toll on the strongest of people! but for the love of god! you/me us are human! not super human.

After my two MC and a chemical inbetween so far this year, I am just about keeping my head above water...and some days really question myself and wonder if it's worth carrying on TTC?.

Stupid question really, as I don't think we choose to have this longing it's just so instinctive.

I am hoping and praying you find the right route for you both...X

Spent the day with my nephew who is 6 months old...he's so adorable, and I love my time with him, but always come away feeling a bit sad if that makes sense?...sorry think AF must be on her way! always a bad one after mc...Eeeyuck!, hope she hurrys up, actually for the first time this year will be glad when she arrives!...starting tests on 25th November at the recurrent mc clinic, so fingers crossed.

Sorry for the long post girls x

fedupttcnosuccess · 25/10/2010 13:07

Emmy: congratulations. Hope you have a happy uneventful nine months.
Lychees: better luck next cycle.
Hi everyone else, and good luck.
Emma: know exactly what you mean, it IS hard, hopefully before long it'll be your turn to be glowing and carrying a baby.
Sorry for short post: at work and on mobile. FX for everyone. x

EmmaC29 · 25/10/2010 12:29

Hi All not been on for a couple of days busy weekend with weddings etc x

EmmyLou congratulations! That is fantastic news - am so pleased for you! Hope your good luck rubs off onto all of us as well FX Smile.

MissLolita I am so excited for you, its sounding really positive, you being so emotional etc, i really hope you get your BFP in 2 days time - would you do an early PG test or would you rather wait? xx

Lychees sorry to hear about AF.

I dont know what's worse, thinking you might have done it and been lucky and then getting AF or knowing you wont have and then having to wait another month - such a stress this baby making business.

The wedding was full of gorgeous cute babies and I really wanted be there with one too Sad xx

Starlet22 · 24/10/2010 22:53

Hello ladies

Sorry for the radio silence but have been on hols for two weeks (which was lovely, but sad to be back and NOT looking forward to work tomorrow ....).

Anyway, I have skimmed through the posts (there's been quite a few I see!) and just wanted to say Keziah that I am thinking of you and my heart goes out to you. I really don't know what to say other than I will keep you in my prayers and that there is some good advice on this thread re being proactive about taking things forward. Please stay positive and keep us updated as to how things progress.

Boba - just wanted to say I was sorry to hear about your blockage - on the positive side of things it's only your right tube. One of my friends had an overy removed when she was pregnant with DC1 and went on to have another 2 so fingers crossed for you and a BFP soon.

Hello to everyone else. Sorry I don't have time to post right now but thinking of you all and a big congrats to Emmylou !!
