The 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended)

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Resist the lure of ovulation predictor kits, Taking Control of Your Fertility and the dreaded First Repsonse. Knowing where you are in your cycle is entirely permissible though!

Going to the doctor is permitted if you've had a stupidly long cycle but beware of the dildo-cam-scan.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

***

Although all most of these rules are well and truely broken!! But we try to chill - honest

PMSL nickelbabe. Real snot, real snot! Good God I should be more careful with my words!

nickelbabe · 16/09/2010 17:09

tell me, please, takethat, this time you're taking about real snot, not pantsnot?
Confused

nickelbabe · 16/09/2010 17:09

i like the idea of a shag-cape.

you should sell those Wink

we do the cycling our legs in the air - but it's usually not after sex Grin - we do that for fun!

I am laid back (so far!), i'm in danger of becoming obsessed with it, so i'm pretending it's not happening.
Blush

takethatlady · 16/09/2010 17:07

Also, in addition to the snot-licking episode the only other productive thing I have done today is to wedge an armchair in the stairwell. It's well and truly wedged. I thought I could take it upstairs and put it in the nursery spare room. I couldn't. I spent half an hour trapped on the stairs trying to dangle myself off the armchair and into the living room. After 30 minutes of grunting, heaving and dangling, I managed to wedge myself free. The armchair is still stuck though Shock

I've also eaten all DH's choc biscuits. He's going to be so happy when he comes home and finds his treats gone, his wife covered in snot, and half the furniture stuck up the stairs Grin

Anyone else losing their marbles?

takethatlady · 16/09/2010 17:02

Thanks for the stats brassica! Haven't hallucinated anything today, despite even more dangerous consumption of lemsip, so that's good. Had to do a presentation with snot running from my nose to my lip at work today. Literally had to lick it off part-way through and hope no-one noticed Blush

Already plotting my next pee Grin

snowpea that is an amazing analogy. I am SO using that later. Welcome nickelbabe. Quick run down of all the thread jargon I can think of:
pant snot - egg white cervical mucus (EWCM)
vag sneeze - release of aforementioned pant snot
PIAR - pee in a ramekin
PIAJ - pee in a jar

These last are activities we are not meant to partake in until at least 14 days past ovulation (DPO). Few of us make it.

Shag capes, shag boots, and all other shag-related-clothing - self-explanatory

Dildo-cam. You'll have to ask vallinna and brassica for details but it's basically a scan up your fanjo.

Viroids - what we call ourselves.

These have evolved through months of all of us pretending to be pretty damn laid back about the whole ttc thing. Some of us have clearly been on here waaaay too long Grin

Welcome, though!

milanomum · 16/09/2010 16:55

Rules? what ruwels? :o

Join in the fun Nickelbabe!

Brassica I love that the rational thought is in brackets in your message... says it all really Wink

snowpea that's genius - but my man is more of a Formula 1 man so I need to think of something similar.

grabs some popcorn and takes a seat to watch takethatlady go completely bonkers< :o

JosieSmith1 · 16/09/2010 15:49

Welcome Nickelbabe!

We're all mad very sane people in here, come on in! Grin

Don't worry about breaking the rules, I'm probably number 1 offender!

nickelbabe · 16/09/2010 15:37

can I join in?
I've tried to read as much ofthe thread as poss, but i'm still a little bit confused as to the terminology....
:)

hello, everyone!

we've only had sex 3 times since we started (two might have been just before ov, but not sure, because i haven't a clue what's going on in there! Blush )
but i might have AF now - it's hard to tell, cos i always start with a couple of days of splodges/drippage then it starts.
pretty sure that i'm breaking all your thread rules behaving like this, but i can't help but think "what if..?" not likely, but it's interesting for me to see the thought process!
Grin

JosieSmith1 · 16/09/2010 14:40

Oh Truff, join the club hun! I have a nut allergy so have never even tasted whole nut! Blush

My best mate is coming over for tea tonight so that'll take my mind of it for a while (although I'd quite like to just go to bed), and then I'm busy doing horsey things on sat which will be very distracting so hopefully I won't even notice yeah right until it's officially late!

BrassicaBabe · 16/09/2010 14:40

Some stats for you takethat Wink Something to help you stay strong Grin

Average Day Past Ovulation (DPO) for the first positive pregnancy test: 13.6 DPO

Average DPO for the first "false" negative test result: 10.3 DPO

Percentage of pregnancy charts with a positive test at 10 DPO: 10%

Love the analogy snowpea Hopefully it hit the target Grin

Sorry for witch AF b2b

My 2WW "symptoms" at 7DPO for your delight and delectation:
Extreme tiredness (I have a 2hour each way commute, go figure Grin)
Twinges "inside" (Recent curry side effects?)
Shooting pains in my boobs (much pokidge goign on)
Skin breakout (had a facial last week)
Nausea (too much haribo)

Bought 2 cheapy pg tests at lunch today. I wonder how long I can keep from peeing on them Hmm Hopefully I can hold out longer than takethat Wink

I am mental!

OP posts:
Truffkin · 16/09/2010 13:34

Snowpea great analogy, am impressed with your creativity! I've not had what seems to be know as the chat with DH so far, partly because I don't 100% get all of the biology myself yet and luckily he has happy to JS pretty much whenever I feel ike it so doesn't take much convincing! (I say pretty much because within 24 hours of my implant being removed my sex drive went through the roof, so an be a bit of a sex pest from time to time)

So my iphone app actually says that Saturday is OV day so for the next few days I shall be randomly initiating as much hot luvin' action as I can reasonably get away with in the hope that the big bang occurs and results in duffedness.

TakeThat I have a large frozen snapper here that should do the trick, come on, take the hit if only for convincing yourself you are imagining small insects Wink

Josie I would say that extreme fatigue is definitely a pg symptom so bring on the mentalness until Saturday!

In other news, I have just had to eat a snickers as my lunch dessert as I read something that suggested I should abstain from eating peanuts when pg as I am asthmatic and have eczema so the sprog would be highly likely to have a nut allergy if I ate nuts whilst hatching it. So not only wine, shellfish and runny boiled eggs but bloody whole nut as well Sad Confused and Shock all at once

baby2b · 16/09/2010 12:10

snowpea awesome...will be using that later! Grin

JosieSmith1 · 16/09/2010 10:42

Oh goodness Takethat I don?t think I?ve counted hallucinating as a symptom (of the pg I?ve not yet had), so --far?Grin

Yes Snowpea that sounds exactly right! Though my DH is a rugby fan so I can amend it to fit! Grin

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 16/09/2010 10:07

Sounds pretty good to me Snow, assuming your DH is a Man U fan Grin. Simple language usually works with men (rolls eyes emoticon).

SnowpeaWithEnthusiasm · 16/09/2010 09:32

So, I'm pretty sure that DP has absolutely no idea how ttc works technically. I'm fairly certain he doesn't know that you only ov one day a month, or what it's like to go through the tww. So, I thought I should come up with a way I could tell him how it works that he'll understand. What do you viroids think of this...?

Okay, so imagine that Newcastle United only play one game a month. The team spends two weeks training, and you spend those two weeks reading everything you can on the players, the coach, the sponsors. The it's game time, and every single month, for the only game of the month, it comes down to a shot taken in injury time. The ball leaves the players foot, it's arcing towards the goal but the keeper might just get to it in time. You're on the edge of your seat, eyes glued on the ball... Then the screen goes blank and you don't hear whether they won or lost FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS.

That is how it feels to be a woman ttc.

What do you think Viroids, does that describe it well enough?

takethatlady · 16/09/2010 09:27

Right, squirt me with kipper-juice, I PIAR this morning at 9DPO. Maybe even 8DPO. Obviously BFN. Plus it was a digi I had left over from last month, so it was a total waste of money.

NMCB I'm with you on going back to the doctor's. btw, you know everyone says a chemical pregnancy is like a normal period? Do you agree? If I was expecting a normal period and it happened like that I'd be furr-eak-ing o-u-t. Grey clots and veins anyone? [tmi].

2ww mentalness includes PIAR and dunking an expensive stick a week too early, constantly stroking my boobs (even in front of strangers), abstaining from alcohol (yes, really - though tbh, my body is bruised and broken after last week's drunken debacle), and furkling for my cervix at every opportunity. Plus I had a lemsip and I've been worrying I've poisoned the child I am not pregnant with ever since.

Told DH my back was aching. He just raised his eyebrows and said, 'here we go'.

Yesterday a fly landed on my hand, and when it flew off I couldn't see it anymore. I actually thought I had hallucinated the fly. If I don't get a BFP soon, I'm going to looooooooose it. Grin

JosieSmith1 · 16/09/2010 09:26

Sorry it got you B2B, maybe next month Sad and I'm afraid I don't know about thyroids but it wouldn't hurt just to ask dr I suppose. Otherwise you'll be worrying about it, which obviously won't help TTC. Anything that'll put your mind at ease. It might just be that they're worrying too much and you don't need to, but until dr says as much it'll probably prey on your mind.

I felt much better when I went home last night (probably as I was away from work) but I couldn't bring myself to talk about work with DH as I got upset so avoided the subject. I was absolutely shattered and fell asleep in the car on the way to the yard, then couldn't bring myself to ride so DH walked horsey out to exercise her for me, then I fell asleep on the comp chair at about 8pm and DH sent me to bed at 9pm. I haven't been that knackered in a loooong time. I think I'm getting a cold though so that would explain it (is it possible to comfuse pg symptoms with a cold? Grin)

Hope everyone else is doing well this morning

baby2b · 15/09/2010 21:56

Ok, I am slightly concerned as I just seen a thread about thyroids. Mine is under-active so had a quick look. They know everything about their levels and what they should be for being pregnant etc...I have no idea?! My doc said it would mean some extra blood tests if I get pg, but not a factor in getting pg. Might need to book an appointment. Or do you think this falls under the js guidelines and its best not to stress about it?

Nomore I don't think I have had an ov window where people havn't been staying...nightmare, but kind of exciting as it's risky GrinWink

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 15/09/2010 18:54

I'm giving it another go and if the next fbp I get fails I'll be back down the drs demanding a) a different dr and b) they check my progesterone levels.

Looking like there'll be some serious but quiet JSing this month as the window will likely occur whilst the parents are here (rolls eyes)

baby2b · 15/09/2010 18:04

AF got me this morning. :(:(:( Let another month of madness begin!

BrassicaBabe · 15/09/2010 15:58

milano, Josie I had The Chat with DH where I had to explain about shagging windows and one ov per month etc. I'm sure he thought that ov could happen at any point during the month. Hmm

I agree vallinna you can't let medical types dicate all of your options. I sometimes get the impression they deal with stoopid types all day so that when someone arrives informed and keen to be involved with the decision making they are quite relieved!

OP posts:
vallinnapod · 15/09/2010 15:10

Good arvo one and all,

Crow - congrats! Now stop PIAR!

NMCB - hmmmm, doctors....9/10 I want to hit them with more than a kipper...that's the arse about really TTC, you get a BFP as early as possible. However if you then have a chem PG you notice it, where as those who are blissfully ignorant just think it's their period. Fingers and toes crossed for next month. I can give you a 101 in 'Doctor Assertivity'. I always use to think they knew what was what, 100%. Now I realise they know sweet FA, if you have done your research and are honest with them (all my converstations seemed to start with 'I read this on google....') they tend to listen to you. I have definitely taken this approach with the fertility clinic, although those conversations start with "I don't care if this sounds cheap...." before I wangle myself out of (what I deem to be ) an unnecessary scan or blood test! One nurse now splits the difference with me....they wanted me for an day 8 scan, I said nope, last time it was Day 10, she got me on 9 Grin

JosieSmith1 · 15/09/2010 15:08

How did I not think of that Milano, there'd definitely be a market for shag-capes Grin

Horsey things is what I'm looking into, have emailed some of the bigger names to see if they'd be interested in sending me some stock, don't know how it really works so thought I might as well just be upfront about it and ask outright! Grin. Sorry AF arrived, I've had that chat with DH too, had to explain to him that there's only a small timeframe each month in which I can get pg so we have to shag-away! Grin I can't remember if I told you but a while ago after we had JSed I stuck my legs in the air and when DH asked what I was doing I shouted "I'm making baaaaabies!!" which made him laugh more than embarrassed him! Grin

milanomum · 15/09/2010 15:00

Josie, what about horsey things? Or maybe there's a market for actual shag-capes...?
