The 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended)

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Resist the lure of ovulation predictor kits, Taking Control of Your Fertility and the dreaded First Repsonse. Knowing where you are in your cycle is entirely permissible though!

Going to the doctor is permitted if you've had a stupidly long cycle but beware of the dildo-cam-scan.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

***

Although all most of these rules are well and truely broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Hi Viroids!!! Back to CD1 for me!!! So why all the !!!s you ask? Because AF arrived after Cd26, which is the closest to 28 days after coming off the pill (which I've done several times in the last few years). I'm hoping it stays this way, and doesn't get freakishly irregular again. Plus, since I didn't make it to 28 days, AF saved me PIAR money. Also saved me guilt after quite a lot of wine this week (a winemaker friend of ours visited, so I couldn't help it). Also, AF arrived pretty much 14 days after I thought I'd ovulated, so now I have confidence that I might actually know my body a little bit. Shall put this knowledge into good use next cycle and ttc js like a nutter. :)

So much has happened since I've last been on, I'm sorry if I miss you.

Most of all I want to say to Crow that I'm so very sorry that you had to have such a cow unprofessional doctor at a fragile time. I'm glad you have such a lovely DH.

To the lurkers who have appeared, welcome. I agree that any other lurkers out there should show themselves... I'm just looking for more vicarious 2ww, now that I've been rebooted to a 4ww.

As for the name discussion, I middle-named my friend's future (and still unconceived) baby on the weekend, which made me start thinking about names. I love Violet (as in Baudelaire from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events), but I already named my bike Violet. Do you think my own future (and currently unconceived) child will mind?

JosieSmith1 · 19/09/2010 23:27

Evening everyone! Have had such a good weekend I'm slightly pleased AF arrived as I would have been too cautious had there been a chance I was pg!

Brassica have you tested again yet?

Crowette that's so bloody insensitive! Angry Don't take it to heart hun, hope you're ok?

Congrats Takethat

I'm rather excited at the prospect of plenty JSing to come! Grin

HarderToKidnap · 19/09/2010 22:54

Found me cervix! Not posterior at all. Furkling will be added to my daily routine, it's quite fascinating really. Eskarina, how many tests do you need love? One will do! Use it tomorrow!

Miffles · 19/09/2010 22:09

Gosh - being a teacher would make it really hard to choose a name. I still couldn't do certain names from my school days as the people were smelly or annoying!

Coffee after church - always means you'll stay late! And you can't always fob people off all that easily either! Sounds like you managed to have a good afternoon - what did you see at the Opera?

Eskarina · 19/09/2010 22:02

Miffles, yes, it is a little strange coming out into the open.

There are names abounding in my head too. DH and I even have random dinner-time conversations in which one of us suddenly says "Hey what do you think of ...?" Problem is that I'm a teacher and have associations with so many names that finding the right one will be tricky. I haven't got one that I consider "my" name yet though.

We had a busy day. Dashed to the earlier service at our church, not intending to stay for coffee. DH got nabbed by about 100 different people so we had to run back home to get changed then ran back down the hill to catch a train into London. We had lunch in a fab Indian restaurant in Covent Garden then went to the Opera house with MiL.

Miffles · 19/09/2010 21:49

Baby2b - a mooncup...I'm intrigued! Aren't they those things you stick up you fanjo to catch AF? Confused Never sounded v pleasant. Once you've given it a try, spill the beans.

Welcome Eskarina. A fellow lurker! Isn't it strange coming out? Wink I wonder how many other secret lurkers there are...come and say hello!

Nervous sounds like you're having a brilliant time. Enjoy. No jealousy here - no! None at all!

takethat - fingers crossed. :)

A quieter day today...after church we went to my brother and sister in law who are lovely. She is expecting their 2nd in Nov and has a big bump! She told me what they're planning on calling her - and I wanted the middle name!

My sister used my first choice name (Sophia) as her DD's middle name. And now my SiL is planning on using my 2nd choice name (Isabella) as middle name. It seems a waste of "my" names, as I don't really want them once they've been taken. Have other people got names planned already, but no baby? Blush

baby2b · 19/09/2010 21:28

Hey ladies, nice to see some more newbies Smile

I'm just lurking at the mo when I can as I have visitors. Nothing to report really, just waiting for Af to finish so jsing can commence again. Oooh, I did buy a mooncup this month. I am hoping the expense means af will not come next month! It is amazing, but requires a bit of patience to begin with. Used to furkling now, so no bother on that front Grin

Crow Hope you are ok. That doctor needs a good slap. How insensitive!

Hope people on the 2ww are staying sane(ish). I think we are due a bfp or two this month!

Eskarina · 19/09/2010 20:44

Hmm, I've only just started to recognise ov signs - after 12 years on the pill. I think I generally get EWCM followed by sore boobs, neither of which appeared this month. Then this week, I've had spotting - I never ever have that. So like Nelly I immediately thought ooh implantation??? Long chat with best friend convinced me further. But no other pg symptoms.
My problem is I only have 1 pee stick! I was going to pick up some more with the weekly shop, but went to waitrose and they only had v v expensive ones. Need a trip to tesco.
I think I'm going to try to hold out til Wednesday then test.

You lot now know things about me that closest friends who've known me my whole life will never get to hear! Amazing thing this internet.

NervousNelly · 19/09/2010 18:20

Hello everyone - I'm back! Well not really, I'm still on holiday but back in the land of the internet, so just catching up! There has been some very funny reading on here (and some crappy news too, sorry for those who have ongoing/new problems :()

Have lost track of my cycle a bit - umm must be on day 21 of a normal 28 day cycle. However, was due to OV last Sunday, did have some pant snot in the days before but no pains in my side which I normally get. Shagged on Saturday, Sunday, Monday (and Thursday, just for fun!) so could be in luck, but not feeling anything so far! I have however been doing lots of unhealthy things such as drinking a fair amount (well, I am on my holidays!!!

Today decided I had the faintest bit of brown "sludge" when I wiped. My mind immediately went "oooh implantation" but really I know nothing of such things - when would you normally expect to see that? I do get some spotting in the days before ERTD, but not normally a full 7 days before?

Soo confused! However I am sitting in a fairly stunning spot looking out over the sun setting on a beautiful harbour, in a plush hotel, listening to Jazz from the bar downstairs. So frankly right this second I don't care if I'm PG or not :)

(Yeah right, obviously that would just be the icing on the very gorgeous cake!!)

Will hopefully manage to be on over the next few days. Hello to all the newbies/lurkers (furklers?)

Grin
BrassicaBabe · 19/09/2010 17:58

Sounds v promising takethat! Hang in there, hopefully we can graduate together! BFN for me today. No hint of a pink line (and I've just got it out of the bin to check Grin) I've still got those little crampy feelings I've had since 4DPo (10DPO today) Although sources tell me there's only a 29.7% chance of BFP on 10DPO.

Dinner party was good. A late finish at 2pm. Shag and then snoring DH kept me awake until 3am. This morning I've done several loads of dishwashing and handwashing. We've also been to see puppies. We're getting a little doggy sister for the other pooch Grin followed by something to eat and now I'm ready for a sleep. Hence the silence from me today.

Nothing on my PC has changed (cookies etc), but I have to login everytime I access MN now. Otherwise all of our pages are merged into one long page. The same on my phone. It's pissing me off. Turn it back to how it was please MN!

Welcome eskarina Congrats for de-lurking Grin I second takethat's advice. Wait until CD38 to test.....No, we both mean POAS now!! HmmGrin

I need to check my pee-stick stores. I'm not sure how many I've got left Wink

OP posts:
takethatlady · 19/09/2010 12:43

Hey eskarina, what are your usual signs? Have you got any symptoms?

If I were you I'd do one test now and if it's a BFN I'd then try to wait until CD38.

brassica, I'm taking your silence for good news ... well, either that or a hangover Wink

HarderToKidnap · 19/09/2010 12:00

Well Eskarina, obviously you should wait until CD38 to test butif I were you I would have already tested about a thousand times. So it's up to you really!

Eskarina · 19/09/2010 11:26

Inspired by other lurkers who have popped out recently, I'm tentatively poking my nose round the door of this thread to say hello and can I join in please?
I like lurking, but am in serious need of a kipper to the face to keep me from going insane before the end of this week.
We're only on month 2 of TTC, and we got cold feet in the middle of last month so I suppose it's only round 1 really.
I'm in need of the kipper because a) I have rather variable cycles, anywhere between 27 and 37 days, and b) I didn't get any signs of ovulation this month, despite copious symptoms every other since coming off the pill in March. Now on CD28 and wondering how soon I can test.

takethatlady · 19/09/2010 10:15

brassica, how was the dinner party? What do you mean all this logging in is pissing you off? Are us viroids annoying you with our too-too-many posts Grin?

Have you done another test? Yesterday's has a distinct pink line on it now for me, and I did one this morning and it is again inconclusive ... can't tell if I could see the line or not before ten minutes though there is the faintest of lines there now. But I must stress, I don't think this is a BFP because if I was hoping not to be pregnant I definitely wouldn't see this line Grin

However, my boobs hurt like fuck (sorry for the language, but my bra hurts them, they ache all the way through, it hurts to touch my nipples) and I almost vomited this morning despite having only had two drinks last night. The excessive thirst and achy back I had last time around have also returned.

But still no bona fide BFP, so all of this may just be hormonal.

BrassicaBabe · 19/09/2010 03:04

Night, night. DH snoring v loudly next to me.

((hugs)) crow

(this logging in all the time is pissing me off)

miffles good work, both for apologising and for using solvents for only the most laudable of purposes!

I am feeling very smug having drunk 'vodka and cokes' (i.e. cokes) all night, except for one real vodka my friend bought me and a mahoosive white wine spritzer (in a pint glass, I kid you not, though not filled up all the way).

So everyone thought I was drinking and, since they were all drunk, they didn't notice I was sober enough to drive home. Friend with the PhD hit the wall early anyway :)

The imaginary line is still there ...

How about yours brassica? When are you testing again. My boobs definitely hurt now Confused. That's not a confused emoticon, that's my crazy face Grin

Miffles · 18/09/2010 21:52

Oh Crow - that is utterly horrible. That doctor behaved unbelievably badly. Cow cow cow cow cow!! I would really suggest you put in an official complaint. There is no excuse to speak to people in that manner. All hospitals have to have a complaints procedure - you can often find it through the Patient Advice and Liason Service (or something similar).

As everyone has said, you were pregnant and therefore have every right to grieve. It sounds like DH has your back. Take you time honey.

Brassica and Takethat - you are two crazy ladies!! Can't believe you - looking at your tests after the time and getting your knickers in a twist. Will you never learn?! Wink

Congrats taking Grin

So...I was the bigger person and apologised to DH and all was well in the Miffles household. We worked really really hard today in the flat - did a 10 hour day, but had a tasty chinese as a treat for dinner. My fingers are so dry from cleaning, solvents (for cleaning, no other reason!), gardening, etc.

No chance of JSing tonight - log fire or no long fire! But since I don't think I'm ovulating, there's no pressure!!

crowette · 18/09/2010 21:09

Thank you ladies, it means alot to know I'm not the only one thinking that 4 seperate tests could be wrong.

She was so awful, made out I was lying about the tests - just told me to go back into the room and said 'who told you you were pregnant?' and when I said 4 pregnancy tests, she said the must have all been wrong and made me feel stupid for believing them, as the hospital test is very accurate and sensitive, so I was wrong and that it's just a late period.

So, I had a light bleed the day AF was due, it stopped the next day, even after JSing (which would usually kick start it)had a negative test 2 days before that, then had enough hCG in my system to have 4 postive tests - a week later. But I was never pregnant at all, it was all in my mind, as if I was miscarrying, there'd still be traces of hCG Hmm so where did that hCG come from for a week?

I think the Dr's attitude has made it all worse for me. She was so bad - she waved my notes and bloods in front of me in a dismissive manner and said 'I'm not going to even bother processing 'these'' then walked out of the room. I just felt numb and disbelieving of what had happened.

My OH has been great - he let me bawl my eyes out, told me the Dr was wrong, that I HAD been pregnant, he knows it. He put me to bed, run me a bath and cooked me dinner - I don't know what I'd do without him.

So, going to have my sulk to get it out of my system, then pick myself up, dust myself off and put on my shag cape again :)

takethatlady · 18/09/2010 18:41

taking!!! Congratulations!!! Grin

Don't freak out. You'll be fine Smile

crow, what brassica said. If there's one thing I've learned from all this ttc lark it's that doctors really don't have the faintest clue what is going on (especially as there are so few clinical tests done on pregnant women, for obvious reasons), and that they can be patronising arses. I've read studies saying that morning sickness and food cravings are all in women's heads Shock and all sorts.

When I was pregnant last month the doctor dated me at 7 weeks even though I told her I had only ovulated 2 weeks before and that my cycles were running at 7 weeks. She said, 'I'm sorry, but we'll date you at your 12 week scan. We're not going to go on when you think you might have ovulated.'

I DID ovulate then! And how does she know when the 12 week scan would be if she doesn't take into account my dates? I know they have to be cautious, etc, but FFS!

So anyway, upshot is, ignore your doctor. The tests showed positive. You were pregnant, and you are totally entitled to feel fucking upset. I know how it feels, and you need to cry a bucketload, eat cake for dinner and then for breakfast the next day, and give yourself however much time you need. Really Sad for you.

brassica I think I can see a line in my earlier BFN now too. DH says he can see it but he's not sure if he's imagining it because it's so hard to see and is only visible in certain lights and with a squint. So you can get me a ticket for that crazy train, too.

The question is, to drink or not to drink?

I'm going to try to drink as little as poss.

See you here tomorrow when I'll be hungover and have bruised my arse again, probably Grin

nickelbabe · 18/09/2010 17:48

crow - if your own doctor said not to bother testign because his would be the same, then it must have been conclusive.

there's a chance it was one of those chemical pregnancies, right? then of course it wouldn't show up in your hospital test.
:(

milanomum · 18/09/2010 17:23

taking CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Breathe... it'll be just fine.

crow that's awful - so sorry you're going through that :( :(

nomore they look great! we aren't quite ready for one just yet, but as soon as dd get's into a bed, i'll be on to you!

Brassica Bless. You've officially lost the plot. But I can't wait to find what happens around 15 dpo... :)

takingtheplunge · 18/09/2010 16:05

Oh, yes told DH this am. He's pleased although seems a bit surprised Hmm and is, like me, a bit worried about money.

BrassicaBabe · 18/09/2010 16:04

You are not stupid crow. You had a positive test. Don't let the condesending doctore dismiss you. Are you entitled to feel as crap as you do.

OP posts:
takingtheplunge · 18/09/2010 16:01

Still in total Shock. Not sure why really as we have been having unprotected sex for months and I already have a child, butI'm gobsmacked.
CD 34 of a roughly 32 day cycle. Had no AF symptoms so did a test this am so I could stop wondering and was stunned to see the line appear.
I'm a bit freaked out as have been having a hard time lately with DS1 and things are a bit shit financially. Really scared I'll get HG again. Due end of May. DS will be 3 and 2 months.
I should be thrilled but I feel a bit overwhelmed. Excited and terrified.

crowette · 18/09/2010 15:55

well I feel pretty stupid

Had really bad bloating last night, very uncomfortable - started bleeding this morning, so took trip to A&E and after examinations, they tested my urine and it turns out its negative. The Dr was pretty offish with me, as though I'd wasted her time ... thing is, I'd done 4 tests during the week, 3 different brands, and all showed postive. I had very tender and enlarged boobs, bloating etc. She said I could never have been pregnant, as there would be a trace of HCG in the hospital test still, so it's not even classed as a miscarriage - well it feels like one to me!

I'm devastated. Need to go to my Dr on Monday to see what's happened - he didn't bother to test himself as he said with 4 positive tests, his wouldn't be any different.

I'm now told I'm just having a late period.

We were going to tell our girls today, but instead had to tell them why I was going to A&E - now I have to tell them I wasn't even pregnant in the first place.
