The 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended)

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Resist the lure of ovulation predictor kits, Taking Control of Your Fertility and the dreaded First Repsonse. Knowing where you are in your cycle is entirely permissible though!

Going to the doctor is permitted if you've had a stupidly long cycle but beware of the dildo-cam-scan.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

***

Although all most of these rules are well and truely broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Hey brassica you can keep sane! You can do it! I won't help you wallow this month :) We're all entitled to get pissed off with it all ever now and again I reckon. It's like a pressure valve- if we didn't we'd go seriously and permanently crazy I reckon.

Oh josie I can't believe how much pain you've had. But the antibiotics have got to kick in soon. And then it sounds like you've got my perfect weekend lined up - parties, dinners out, pub lunches. Fingers crossed your munchers are munching again by then.

Nope, no temp rise. 97.05 this morning. Bloody body. Oh well, JSed two days in a row and TV is bloody good at the moment (have a terrible love of reality TV Blush so X Factor and Strictly being back is great; plus Downton Abbey, Spooks, Masterchef, University Challenge .... the list goes on). I am a big loser but at least staying in watching telly means JSing a lot more Grin

JosieSmith1 · 28/09/2010 08:49

Sorry ERTD got you Crochet

And sorry your furkling isn't getting you anywhere TTL

I don't want to keep going on (I'm sure you're all sick to the back teeth of me - pun intended) but I effing hate effing teeth!!!!! [mad] It's not constantly sore anymore, which is a huge improvement, but my bite is no better. Took me over half an hour to eat 3 slices of pizza last night, which was devine being the first thing I ate after scrambled egg for three days! My back teeth squidge the gum when I try to bite, although I can use the right side of my mouth to almost chew it's a huge effort and actually quite tiring!

I can put up with it a bit longer but going out with Mam on thu and she was gonna buy me tea, and we're going for a meal for her 60th birthday on sat and I really want to be able to go, then we're going for sunday lunch at the pub on sunday but if I can't eat it's pointless me going! I don't want to miss all of mam's birthday celebrations Confused. I'm sure I probably just have to keep at the antibiotics and it'll improve eventually Sad [fed up and sore face]

Hope everyone is ok on this dull and dreary morning?

BrassicaBabe · 28/09/2010 08:12

Sorry for AF crochet

No hint in temps of ov takethat? You're on a waiting game for bloodtests now aren't you? Pesky!

I am resolving not to pee in or on anything this cycle until AF is late. Last month's madness of POAS at 9DPO is still ringing in my ears. And more importantly those of my poor DH Grin

I W-I-L-L S-T-A-Y S-A-N-E this month. Sooooo easy to say at CD4 Grin

Yeah, right Hmm

Day 42 in the Takethatlady house. Takethatlady has been furkling, almost incessantly, for pant snot. What she doesn't know is that Big Brother has removed all the pant snot from her house until further notice, so the furkling is totally pointless. Takethatlady hasn't ovulated since the end of July. How long will it take for her to crack?

That's how you know when your cycles are too long! Anything between 21 and 35 days is considered normal but it can take 3-6 months for the pill to come out of your body. It's because it takes two weeks on average for you to ovulate from the first day of your cycle (ha ha) and then two weeks for fertilisation/implantation. If that doesn't take place you get your period.

Thinking of peeing on a stic, just for something to do...

CrochetGirl · 27/09/2010 22:19

Evening all,

SRS, I was thinking the same thing - I literally just finished cycle 1 which turned out to be 33 days, and had absolutely no idea when I ovulated. If at all.

I went and took advantage of the BOGOF/BOFOF offer today, only to nip to the loo in my lunch break, whip the knickers down only to find AF had arrived. Boo.

Good luck to anyone waiting to test still Smile

Eskarina · 27/09/2010 21:35

Hi SRS
The 2ww is the two week wait between when you think you ovulated and when your period arrives. It's called the luteal phase and should last 10-15 days (I read that on t'internet somewhere)

Cycle length varies from person to person (and in my case from "month" to "month" Sad) but a so-called average one is 28 days. Have you just come off the pill or similar? If so it can take a while for cycles to settle down. I was 7 weeks between the withdrawal bleed and getting a proper period

BOFOF - Buy one for a friend?

SpareRoomSleeper · 27/09/2010 18:43

Right. I need help.

What is 2ww, and how does one know if cycle is too long?

takethatlady · 27/09/2010 16:26

BOGOFs, not BOFOFs.

Now thinking of silly things that BOFOF could stand for ... sounds like the kind of competition me and my nerdy friends might have had at school Smile

Might get the Freshers to do one.

takethatlady · 27/09/2010 16:24

Sorry miffles. Bit of wishful thinking that term was 2 weeks further down the track than it is I reckon. I have spent the day trying and failing miserably to get mistaken for a student. They know I'm old Shock

vallinna I'm betting that your drunken attempts at the kama sutra didn't put DH off. Once I had sex with (sober) DH and I was so drunk I don't remember it. I think he took advantage of me. He says it was more like the other way around Grin

JosieSmith1 · 27/09/2010 14:53

Don't wanna stir up trouble, but I just heard on the radio that first response tests are BOGOF at Boots...........

JosieSmith1 · 27/09/2010 12:53

Oh no! I?ve caused a bad tooth/gum outbreak! Sorry everyone! Blush

Hope you feel better soon Vallinna!

I'd join the OAS on facebook TTL Grin

Tooth is a little better thanks, still on the liquid diet (soup not alcohol Grin) but generally feeling a lot better in myself, though the top wisdom tooth on the other side is quite sore but not infected thankfully!

Miffles · 27/09/2010 12:50

Ha ha ha, Vallinna both on recreating the karma sutra and also to snoozing in the disabled loo. :) A good boozing session every now and then does no harm.

Thanks for the good luck for today, Takethat, although I am only going to work as usual! I appreciate the thoughts, but suspect you're meaning for my consultants appt. Not for another 2 weeks. Wink

(instead of wink, I put [wino]. Although this may be true, it sounded a bit rude!! Shock!)

vallinnapod · 27/09/2010 12:36

Thanks takethat...I don't think I have stopped eating! Need to sleep so badly...the disabled loo is looking appealling.

Awful flashbacks to last night...I clearly though I was some sort of sex-goddess when I got home...had very noisy (possibly very bad!) sex where I believe I tried to recreate most of the karma sutra....oh the shame!

takethatlady · 27/09/2010 12:25

PS - only kidding about the OAS on facebook. Just realised that looked serious (and nuts).

takethatlady · 27/09/2010 12:24

Oh vallinna I feel your pain Smile I've been there with the hangover accumulators and they are the worst.

I can recommend alka seltzer, McDonald's, exercise (especially as it's raining - it'll cool down your overheated head Grin), puke, sleep, puke again. In that order. Works a dream Grin

Thanks ladies for the ovulation encouragement Smile I'm going to start an Ovulation Appreciation Society on facebook. That way people can cheer when people with long cycles finally ovulate. Or at least people can poke me 'til I'm preggo.

Good luck today miffles. How's the tooth josie?

vallinnapod · 27/09/2010 12:19

Oh josie you poor thing! Glad you have antibiotics!

Arses for all these long cycles.

I have spent the entire weekend (which started on Thursday night!) in a drunken stupor...Blush I have consumed an obscene amount of booze this weekend for an alocholic, let alone a woman TTC...Blush Blush Blush

I really do just want to die today

BrassicaBabe · 27/09/2010 11:34

Doh, I remember the 12th October appointment now you mention it miffles

It doesn't feel "quickly" as this is the 8th month of ttc Sad I had my appt back in July. The consultant gave me 4 months of clomid then and there. He wasn't going to do any monitoring at all. But I pushed and I'm having progesterone level tests on day 22 which show whether I've ovulated or not.

Ooos, sorry nomore. Enjoy your JSing, there's plenty of time for 2WW madness later on Grin

It all gets a bit boring doesn't it milano

Miffles · 27/09/2010 11:21

Morning,

Glad most viroids are back and accounted for, although vallinna still quiet. I hope she didn't assault the clinic staff and get herself locked up!

Brassica - you're right about seeing the doc but behind the times! I went back in June, have had tests, diagnosed with PCOS and referred to fertility consultant. Appt 12th Oct. So may join you in clomid - really hoping he will prescribe it there and then. Who is doing your prescription and monitoring? You seem to have got hold of clomid very quickly!

milanomum · 27/09/2010 11:16

Hello all!
gah! At the AF and long cycle business. Fingers crossed for the stronger drugs brassica :)

I have been JS-ing every other day although I really wanted to just go to sleep last night. Think I ov'd yesterday but this time wasn't as painful as usual and boobs don't hurt yet so not really sure. I am teetering on the edge of the 2ww. I am getting really complacent about all of this... need. more. enthusiasm.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 27/09/2010 11:11

Yay Josie about your tooth. I'm in the same club as you. Nothing wrong in the tooth, just a niggley bit of gum where the gap is large so having to clean it very thouroughly. Sigh

Please Brassica don't wish a 2WW on me before I've even ov'd! Not feeling confidant this month. Prolly the JS free week hasn't helped. Roll on copius (sp?) but quiet JSing tonight!!! GrinWinkBlush

Actually can't believe I'm typing this on my Dad's computer, so shall log back out and delete the history now me thinks.

BrassicaBabe · 27/09/2010 10:44

A 2WW candidate in harder then. May as well fit another JS in though just to be sureGrin

HarderToKidnap · 27/09/2010 10:41

Hi everyone, just caught up on all news. Glad your tooth is sorted Josie, and brass, sorry to hear AF has visited. Take That, well, if you haven't ovulated yet, you are still in with a shout this cycle!

Hello newbies!!

I have a sore tooth now - am blaming Josie as never have sore teeth. off to the dentists on Wednesday. I think I OVed this weekend, although we didn't get much JSing in - managed it Thursday night and Sunday morning, so if I oved Sat morning I think it will be over for this month. So annoying as we have been JSing like rabbits almost every other day this month (started off as SWI but then we began to enjoy it so it became JSing). However as haven't been doing OPKs I'm not really sure so let the JSing continue!

BrassicaBabe · 27/09/2010 10:40

Glad your tooth is settling down josie

Boo for long cycle takethat, but equally you could ov any day now? Grin

Right, who's next for the 2WW? Is it nomore?

OP posts:
JosieSmith1 · 27/09/2010 10:34

Morning everyone.

Been to dentist again this morning, my own this time, who said to keep going the way I'm going and if I have any more bother to go back, she didn't poke and prod it thankfully. So that's 2 successful and painless visits to the dentist in one weekend, I may have overcome my fear of them! Hmm

Wasn't up for much JSing over the weekend but made up for it this morning Blush but does anyone know if there are any dangers of possibly getting pg while on antibiotics?

Sorry ERTD arrived Brassica and that you have to up clomid.

Sorry you're having a hard time too TakeThat, hope it's not a 60 day cycle! Sad

SRS hope you're feeling a bit better, sorry ERTD got you.

Hugs and choccies for everyone (I can't eat them so you lot might as well have them! Grin)

BrassicaBabe · 27/09/2010 09:47

Morning all. Managed to catch up on everyones updates from the weekend. Sorry for the long cycles and short cycles and the period arrivals! Sad

Miffles without wanting to sound like ATM I think you need to see your doc for 13 day cycles. It's what I had right at this beginning of this malarky journey and blood tests showed I wasn't ovulating.

So period arrived on Saturday. (The temps didn't lie takethat Grin) I started the increased dose of clomid yesterday. So we'll just have to wait and see. (Yeah, cos I'm good at this patience lark!! Hmm) JSing has been rather sparse Sad. I think, ok I'm pretty sure, I was a bitch from hell last week and DH didn't fancy shagging me. Then ERTD arrived and it's off the cards again.

I've got an exchange student arriving on Monday. Just in time for my window of serious SWI. This will make JSing difficult as DH isn't a fan of doing it while others are in the house Hmm
