Oh, super, Moog! Much congratulations! It was obviously just a rogue crap test. Yay!

Girlsworld · 11/10/2010 13:35

A chemical pregnancy (in my words so not exactly the most scientific explanation!) is when the egg fertilises but fails to implant properly. Usually there is a BFP at the right time (or a few days pre-AF) but over the course of a few days it slowly fades until it is a BFN, and from there AF usually appears within the next day or two.

I hadn't heard of them before MN and then actually having one myself. My BFP was clearly visible but as a thin line rather than the full-on strong thick line I was expecting though, even on the day AF was due. I suppose that should have been a bit of a warning (having said that some people have faint BFPs for a good few days, we're all different).

MoogHasNoBrain · 11/10/2010 13:33

Thank you Girlsworld! I had not patience and took the digital test after waiting as long as I could - it said 2-3 week pregnant so all is good :)

Terry - chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage ie. at4-5 weeks pregnant..

TerrysNo2 · 11/10/2010 13:26

inbetweener so sorry for you, I hope you can get home soon!

BTW - what is a chemical pregnancy ladies??

Girlsworld · 11/10/2010 13:21

Can't even quote myself correctly [squirm emoticon]

Girlsworld · 11/10/2010 13:20

Apologies inbetweener, my "It was so disappointing" looks very stark in a post Blush. Having been there myself I know it's a whole lot more than merely "so disappointing". BlushBlush Rest assured my thoughts are a lot more heartfelt than it comes out in writing and I am thinking of you today. x

Girlsworld · 11/10/2010 13:16

So sorry to hear that inbetweener Sad I had a chemical pg once too. It was really disappointing. Ideally you would be at home wrapped in a duvet with a nice cup of tea and a hot water bottle.

But the GOOD NEWS was that I got pg the very next cycle, and yes, I did count day 1 of the AF as day 1 of the new cycle. So there's no reason why you can't/won't be in line for a July BFP.

Moog, how Confused! If I were you I would try try try to wait until tomorrow a.m. for the best indication of things. Perhaps the Sainsburys test just wasn't as sensitive as the others, or the line naturally isn't as brightly coloured? (I have found this in the past, with different tests of the same brand that some batches are naturally a sharper stronger line of dye and others are more faded looking). But if you can't wait, then drink water, wait til you're bursting and do a test then, this afternoon. AFAIK if you are pg you should get a decent BFP. The early morning wees are considered ideal due to the concentration but pretty much once you're pg you should get an ok-ish BFP no matter what time of day. If you're still not sure then I would buy another brand - have always found Tescos own to be pretty good (along with Clearblue) - and see what that says. Thinking of you and fingers XXXXXXXXXXed. x

kat2504 · 11/10/2010 11:22

Oh inbetweener am so sorry to hear that. It must be very difficult for you right now. I second moogs advice, go home and look after yourself.

As far as ttc, you could test and see if you have a bfn yet. If you don't it's pointless counting days etc. If you do have a bfn you are starting from day 1 but your next cycle may well be irregular. Get lots of cheap ovulation tests then in a weeks time you could start testing daily.
Hope you are getting lots of love and support at home and that you feel better soon

MoogHasNoBrain · 11/10/2010 10:56

that was 'from' work

MoogHasNoBrain · 11/10/2010 10:54

Oh inbetweener I'm sorry sorry to hear that. Can you go home form work now? :(

inbetweener · 11/10/2010 10:36

Hello all,
You can take me off the BFP list.
My BFP last one week and then this morning I started bleeding. Am now sat at work bleeding heavily Sad
I am soo gutted.
I guess this was a chemical pg ? Thinking back now I have looked into this properly this is the second one of these I have had.

So its back to trying for me ?

Can I ask, in terms of TTc do I count today as the first day of AF ? For ovulation etc ?

I cant believe this is happening, am so sad.

MoogHasNoBrain · 11/10/2010 09:32

Ladies can I ask some advice please?

I got my very feint positive on Thursday with a Clear Blue and have tested ecah day since with clear blues wiyht the line getting slihgtly stronger eachtime., But this morning I tested with a Sainsburys one and the line was so feint I could hardly see it. AF not due til tomorrow so all very early. Am not worried it's a chemical pg. Any thoughts?

have purchased anbother test (a digital one) and want to do that this morning but am thinking mayve I should wait a few hours to make sure I've stored enough wee etc iykwim.

I'd be interested to hear what you think as am worrying...

Girlsworld · 11/10/2010 09:23

Excellent news broughthimround! Congrat to the other tentative BFPs too!

I don't think I'll be graduating from this thread, my temps have started the slow descent which is as good as dammit a BFN - wah! Temping does cut down the 2WW because it pretty much tells you everything you need to know about OV and whether you're pg or not early on - but then it makes it longer to wait for next OV! I've only started temping this cycle so think I ov'd a day or two later than usual, and had let DH off the hook too early, as it were Wink...

Still got to wait for AF. Roll on end of week Hmm

TerrysNo2 · 10/10/2010 12:28

Hello, ladies, and sorry for not posting in ages. We were on holiday for two weeks and then had a quite busy week at work.

Congratulations to Totallyfloaty35, StarFlowerGirl, Overthepond, drdolly, Mooghasnobrain, inbetweener, BrassicaBade, and anyone else I may have missed! Let's hope your BFPs will lead to even more.

Fluffysparkles, hope you had a great honeymoon! Sorry to hear that AF arrived. Hope you have better luck on the July bus!

On the 2WW myself. Really glad I was using OPKs because my cycle was nothing like my last one, which was my first coming off the pill. I didn't ovulate until around CD21, and am now on CD 31. We SWId every day between CD12 and 24, so hopefully our chances are good this month.

I've had almost every symptom in the book except for implantation bleeding, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high as this is my first cycle trying, and I've heard so many stories of people convincing themselves that they are having these symptoms but not actually being PG.

I've been really impatient, and I've stupidly already taken a few tests, and of course got BFNs. I'm only 10 DPO now, and will try to hold off testing again for a few more days.

ilovebooks, I've been telling my DH about my symptoms, and I'm pretty sure he's sceptical, but he's being quite supportive about the whole thing! When we woke up this morning, he was really keen for me to test, even after I explained that it's probably too early to tell anything and that if it was positive, it could be a chemical pregnancy.

I hope everyone's having nice weekends and that the coming week will bring good news for us all!

BrassicaBabe · 09/10/2010 15:16

It looks like I was premature moving from the front of the bus to the back of the bus a fortnight ago Blush. I was clearly too keen to have 2 rides on the same bus.

BFP for me. Makes me 4 weeks gone Grin

Good luck to you others. I hope to meet you on a grad thread soon.
