Good morning,

Ravenlocks - I think the egg survives for 24 hours after ovulation so it's worth giving it a go the day after ovulation as well if you can manage it Grin. I think after 24 hours there is not much chance of conception but then I'm not confident enough to be sure when I have ovulated so I think we might stick to SWIing every other day until I am certain that ovulation must have happened! It's all a bit exhausting though!!

Hi girlsworld, welcome!

STILL SWIing over here, was hoping for a temp jump this morning, but got a dip. Managed a quicke before heading off to work, but getting a bit tired of it now! I do wonder what my ovaries are up to, sometimes.

Figured I will most likely be (eventually) told by FF that today was Ov day. Do you guys DTD the day after Ov day aswell, something about the egg hanging around for 24hrs, or are we not typically fertile then?

OverThePond · 16/09/2010 23:28

Girlsworld. You've got company here at the back as my cycles are rolling along to as many as 36 days...

Reading on everyone's threads about the utzing from friends and family thought I'd share the clever response my DH now relies on as he seems to get the question more than I do (I've been horrid telling people for 7 years I don't want kids so they know not to ask me, even though they know it's not true). When DH gets the inevitable "so when are you two going to have a child?" He snaps back with "We'll give that a try tonight and let you know how it goes tomorrow if you like.". It cracks me up as he's so deadpan and all sorts of his parent's friends turn red and mumble as they realize they've asked him a rather personal question.

Girlsworld · 16/09/2010 21:59

Hello all! Would like to join! Added myself to the bottom of the list (means I'll probably be testing on my lonesome when all of you have moved on to your antenatal threads clutching your big shiny BFP's leaving me shouting Hellooo?.... hellooo?... to myself!) Wink

Hi everyone!

mrsden I had those exact symptoms last month! It felt like an AF cramp. Good to know it might be ov since the OPKs never work for me.

serendipity I am on cycle 2 as well. Have many of the same feelings/worries you do by the sounds of your post!

Am trying not to obsess too much but right now I just want to fast forward 10 days to SWI... can't even symptom spot right now.

jigglebum · 16/09/2010 15:28

wombat - sorry to hear about your mc - not sure how I would have been able to respond if my mum had said that - probably burst into tears.
Sympathies to everyone feeling rubbish (hands round tissues and lucozade!) I am feeling ok but know I will go downhill as the evening approaches.

Wombat33 · 16/09/2010 12:28

Morning all! Sorry to so many of you seem to be suffering colds and bugs. Summer's really over isn't it? How about some lovely hot winter pimm's to clear away the cobwebs?

I know what you mean about inappropriate/insensitive comments: my mum has no idea we're TTC and had no idea I'd had a miscarriage on Monday last week when she decided on Thursday morning (i.e. three days later) to give me a friendly lecture about not leaving it too late to have a family...!!! Hmm

I just try to change the subject or say something non-committal, though one day I fear someone will catch me at the wrong moment and bear the brunt of my frustration!

loueytbg · 16/09/2010 12:26

Just popping on to say I've been lurking but we've been dealing with a lovely tummy bug which has gone right through the house. Not a lot of SWI happening although DH was persuaded this am Wink. Expecting +OPK this afternoon or tomorrow so hopefully we will have a slight chance this cycle. He's now got a cold so I'm not hopeful of getting any more in and anyway we are off to ILs tomorrow and DTs are sleeping in the same room as us. Very bad timing....

8rubberduckies · 16/09/2010 12:05

[stumbles on to bus clutching big bag of prescription drugs] Good Morning all, I am fully laden with supplies jigglebum, so give me a shout if you would like a go on a nasal spray or some night nurse Grin. I am feeling very guilty about being off work, as I had two days off last week with the cold that has caused my sinusitis, but I managed to rack up only about 3 hours sleep last night and woke up at 4am in agony yesterday morning, so am feeling sub-human to say the least. Every cloud has a silver lining though, as if I was pg or on the 2ww I would be suffering even more as I wouldn't be able to dose myself up...

MrsDen your pain sounds very much like OV pain, I always get a dragging pain very similar to AF pain, which is pretty localised. Get SWI tonight, I don't think you've missed the window quite, I wish you luck! I too have varying cycles and am unsure if when to start swi. If my OV is very late I have sometimes run out of steam by the time the egg is released, so sometimes I wish it would just happen the same time every month. Charting has helped me keep on top of my cycles though and get a better picture. Fertility Friend is a great site if you want to start temping, and lots of helpful info, but watch out, you will become a slave to it!

serendipity I will indeed be trying out some steam inhalation this afternoon, as soon as I have finished wasting time on here Grin. How to get through the 2ww without appearing like a crazed psychopath is one of the major mysteries in my life at the moment. I tend to convince myself that I'm pg every month, and feel really depressed when I get a BFN or AF arrives. I have tried to not symptom spot at all and to be pragmatic but it doesn't work Sad.

Serendipity27 · 16/09/2010 10:22

Sorry jigglebum meant to say that I hope you feel better soon! There seem to be lots of horrible bugs around at the mo. If your immune system is a bit low on the ground Zinc is pretty good to boast it. It also helps fertility which is an added bonus!!!

I'm sending lots of sympathy in your direction!

Serendipity27 · 16/09/2010 10:20

If I had a pound for everytime we have been asked when we are going to have children I would be loaded. I just smile politely and say "Oh maybe in the next few years sometime". I really should tell them to mind their own bloody business. I am convinced that it is going to be a long haul TTC... Once you have made that decision to go for it you just want it to happen now. I'm only on Cycle 2...my hat is firmly off to all you ladies that have been going for longer and who have had a tough time. I think you are truly amazing and inspirational!

jigglebum · 16/09/2010 10:11

Ahh have developed DS cold badly overnight, just before I need to be SWI ing this weekend. Off to Tesco to stock up on multivits, orange juice and lots of fruit to try and recover quickly and hope not to pass it on to DH. Sorry to hear about your sinusitus 8rubberduckies - we can sniff through the day together!

People really need to think more don't they before they go on about pregnancy etc. I can't remember the number of people who have asked me when we are having another one in the last year - they don't realise how insensitive it is. Sometimes I am honest and it shuts them up but generally just mumble something.

Serendipity27 · 16/09/2010 09:34

Morning! Stumbles on with Danish pastries and a fresh pot of tea

I know what you mean about not talking to people in RL - having people to chat to here who are going through the same thing makes such a difference!

Sounds like it is OV pain although mine is a more stabbing like pain. But then everyone is different. If you are OV today then you still have the next 24 hours to get SWI so get going tonight and you still have a chance! Good luck!

mrsden · 16/09/2010 09:26

Good morning Ladies!

How is everyone doing today?

It's CD14 for me. I'm not sure if I am ovulating yet or not, my cycle varies from 30-35 days so I thought it was more likely I would ovulate over the weekend but I woke up this morning with period pain type aches below my belly button on the left hand side. It's still there now and feels like it does when I have my period. I'm wondering if this might be a sign of ovulation or is ovulation pain more of a stabbing type? I've not noticed it in previous months but I think I'm now hyper sensitive to any symptoms!

Anyway, if I am ovulating today I'm worried that I've missed the golden window because we had friends over last night so no action, we did manage it on Tues night though. Do you think it will be too late tonight?

I know exactly what you mean about people announcing their "accidental" pregnancies. A colleague told us yesterday she was pregnant. I was really happy for her but then she went on and on and on about how easy it was for her to get pregnant, how her and her partner must be super fertile etc etc. And then she started saying that she can't understand women who get obsessed about TTC and if only they stopped thinking so much about it then it would happen for them! I pointed out that as she fell pregnant without meaning to so she hadn't really had the opportunity to start obsessing. I didn't say anymore because I don't want people to know we're TTC. It's made me realise than when I get my BFP I am not going to gloat and go on about it too much even if I am super excited because you never know what other people are going through.

Sorry for the long post but it is so nice to be able to chat to people when you are keeping it secret in RL!

Serendipity27 · 15/09/2010 22:27

8rubberduckies I can't believe how rude people are! Andyou poor thing suffering with sinusitus! I get that in the winter quite often and it is soooooo painful! You don't need Chablis, you need a hot toddy! So who has brought Whiskey with them?????!!!! I will try and remember for next time! Have you tried doing some steam inhalations to ease the pain?

As for "accidents" don't even get me started! I had 3 people declare their accidental pregnancy today at work and quite honestly it makes me sick. None of them are in stable positions to have children - no partner, still living at their parents house etc. It really makes me wonder why I work hard to tick all the boxes so to speak. Argh! I swear if anymore people announce they're accidental PG then I swear I am going to ram a packet of condoms down their throat!!!

I think MrsP81 that jumping on the bus was a good idea! It is good to know that I am not alone in my obsessing.

One question though - how do you all get through the wait from SWI week to when AF is due? I'm really trying hard to not get my hopes up and stay calm/relaxed but honestly it is making me ill! I keep waking up in the night over analysing every niggle, ache, pain or sympton. I am going mad! Help!!! Slurps more Chablis

fatheadsgirl Thank you for adding me to the stats but am I being really dense - I couldn't see me on the list? Maybe I drank too much Chablis?! In my TTC health kick I'm not supposed to be drinking during the week..........

MrsP81 · 15/09/2010 21:39

serendipity, you have done the right thing by delurking. Being on here and reading about everybody elses imaginary symptoms makes me feel slightly less insane.

ravenlocks, MN is doing the same page splitting changing its mind thing to me as well. Grrrrrrr.

Nothing interesting to report here, also joining in with wishing my life away! The mention of Christmas sent me off into a daydream as well mrswantstobeamum. :)

ravenlocks · 15/09/2010 20:42

And the pages are back... jeez!

8rubberduckies · 15/09/2010 20:31

fatheadsgirl did you get detention? Grin

jigglebum, serendipity, just thought I'd share with you that I bumped into my maternity cover today from when I had ds(who got pg when covering my maternity leave and went on maternity leave herself!). She is pg again "just completely by accident, I don't know how we do it" [fume].

I also got asked if I was expecting yesterday in a shop. Nice. And I have sinusitis. Pass me that Chablis, I need cheering up... Angry

ravenlocks · 15/09/2010 20:28

Yeah, welcome new passengers.

Phew, positive OPK at last tonight! Funny how I really look forward to the SWI phase and then when I am in it want to be on 2WW and when on the 2WW.... and so on.

Talk about wishing life away!!

Am I the only one that MN is playing with? Not splitting the thread into pages means I can't look at it on my phone anymore as it can't cope with loading all the messages onto one page, so missing my bus fix whilst on the move...

fatheadsgirl · 15/09/2010 18:49

Serendipity Have added you to the stats, welcome aboard!
Had a good first proper day at college today. Although I did manage to get told off for having my knee up to my chest. Honestly I felt 12 Blush

Hello ladies...

It's really starting to feel like autumn, which is making me daydream about Christmas, as I am hoping to be several months PG by then and thought it would be a lovely Christmas surprise to announce it to our families then (it will be the first grandchild on both sides).

Congrats to GoodVibrations on the BFP! Let's hope that many more are in store this month!

It's nice to see another graduate from The Bus Stop on here! Congrats on moving on to TTC and good luck!

Hi Ladies I'm hoping on to join you if that is ok? I come laden with Galaxy Counters, Haagen Daaz and several bottles of Chablis!

This is my second month TTC after having my implanon removed. Already I have fallen into the trap that is symptom spotting. Honestly it is driving insane to the point of not sleeping!!!! How do you cope with that??????!!!!!!!!! Advice and support is much needed! Also how many people are around at the mo that are PG just by accident?!!!! It makes me want to cry every time I hear about them and I haven't been doing this long!

My stats are as follows:

TTC #1 UCL 28 Cycle 2 CD 17

Please would some one add me as I am a bit scared of doing it myself.

I've found this thread totally inspiring so far and decided to stop lurking and jump onboard! I think a massive dose of female solidarity is just what is needed at the mo.
