The joys of symptom spotting! Am imaging morning nausea, heightened sense of smell, cravings for cola bottles (same as with ds1). The sixtyfour thousand dollar question will be answered nxt friday!

Totallyfloaty35 · 18/09/2010 16:03

Im on my 2ww and i have NO symptoms at all Hmm i used to think i was having loads when i was first ttc but now i know my cycle so incredibly well,i know the same stuff happens every month.
Im getting quite down about it actually and starting to think it will never happen.Im over 40 now and my mum cheerfully informed me to keep an eye out for the hot flushes as " it starts early in our family".

Girlsworld · 18/09/2010 10:33

Hey, sack the reason, let's get a big plate of brownies and tuck in anyway!

Have never managed to make a decent brownie myself, they always come out dry and biscuity [muses]

goldmaple · 18/09/2010 05:40

I probably get the last brownie since I am honestly wondering if somehow AF was just an implantation bleed and I might actually be pregnant...:) it has been documented before!
and my lack of symptoms is due to... errr... I'll get back about that one.

Serendipity27 · 18/09/2010 05:24

Ok it's 5.23am and I am wide awake because I've been dreaming about spot bleeding and symptom spotting!!! Yes you heard right! So do I get the last brownie??!!

OverThePond · 18/09/2010 01:40

ravenlocks surely a peek of the pope makes one prone to pregnancy... Wink

ravenlocks · 17/09/2010 22:46

Hee hee! Yes, no one can say we are not giving it a good go.

Blush

The Pope was in town and he was passing by in his Popemobile not far from my office and I thought 'what the hell, I have tried everything else with this TTC lark, can't hurt to see if catching a glipse of the Pope will make a difference!! I am not Catholic or even religious.

Do I take the Biscuit for being the most bonkers on the bus!?

Anyone seen Notting Hill when they go round the table trying to see who is the most pathetic and therefore who is deserving of the last chocolate brownie? I reakon we could do the same on the bus with a biscuit and a stories of TTC induced insanity.

Who wants to have a go?

milanomum · 17/09/2010 20:56

:o

Girlsworld · 17/09/2010 20:38

Twice a day ravenlocks, gosh, I feel like a slacker at the back of the class! Wink

ravenlocks · 17/09/2010 19:43

I have wondered about that every 2 days thing, At the moment doing everyday and trying for twice a day once +ve OPK. With every two days I suppose I get frustrated knowing I could conceive and yet let 48hrs of that precious window go with out getting another few million of the little swimmers up there.

I know it is quality not quantity, however.

Teds77 · 17/09/2010 17:34

Great that everybody is asking the questions that I feel too shy to ask!

I read somewhere that it was good to leave 2-3 days before SWI at ovulation but then you've got to be pretty sure when ovulation is - at the moment my cycle seems to be a bit doo-lally.

What makes me smile is the teenagers who insist they 'only did it once'... obviously they'll be more fertile than geriatric old me but not that much Smile

Good luck to all the laydees who'll be at it this weekend!

OverThePond · 17/09/2010 16:40

I have read in a few places that SWI every other day is preferable as it allows the gents to build back up. That said, a friend has just gone through all the tests and as her DH is healthy with a million-man count they said he didn't need to let them rest.

ravenlocks · 17/09/2010 16:01

Thanks everyone - so I need to keep SWIing all weekend is the message loud and clear!!

I swear this had better be our month!

Serendipity27 · 17/09/2010 15:56

There is a really good app for the iphone that would help you ladies with all your calculations around fertile days and when you should be SWI. It's P Tracker and it is about 59p. Also they have the male version of it that can link up with yours so he knows when you should be SWI too! I would highly recommend!

mrsden · 17/09/2010 14:49

jigglebum - get going now! I read somewhere that the six days leading up to and including ovulation are the peak times because the sperm can hang out waiting for an egg for about 5 days. I'm not sure if average sperm can survive 5 days or just super fit sperm.

I've heard people say that every other day is enough but I'm living by the more the better rule Smile

Girlsworld · 17/09/2010 14:47

Hi all! Thanks for the welcome.

I second the advice re sperm lasting 5 days or so. Also for OV to last 24 hours (in some cases 48hr+ but think this is unusual, yet not impossibly unusual).

milanomum · 17/09/2010 14:03

Keep SWIing! Wink
I think as much as possible before ov then on ov and then immediately after ov. Does that help? :)

I am bored with the wait-before-the-ov-before-the-2ww. Bored!

8rubberduckies · 17/09/2010 14:01

jigglebum sperm can hang out for 5 days waiting for the egg, so get going now! Apparently every other day is sufficient, but I kind of think that the more the better (if I can be arsed Grin).

I am still sickly and need to start SWI soon, so I am trying to get better by lying on the sofa watching crap on telly as much as possible and conserving energy!

jigglebum · 17/09/2010 13:53

Right - quick question for you ladies. I expect to be ovulating in the next 3- 5 days. Should I be having sex now or at ovulation time or just keep SWI ing just in case! Is every second day the way to go? I really want it to work this month - so tired of waiting. Thanks

Serendipity27 · 17/09/2010 13:17

Clearly can't spell as distracted with symptom spotting... Abodemon whatever that is was supposed to be abdomen!!!

Serendipity27 · 17/09/2010 13:15

Afternoon All

Brassicababe I am totally feeling your pain on the 2WW. It is driving me mad! the next 9 days are going to be the the longest ever!!!

I've spent most of the morning trying to work out if the dull ache in my lower abodemon and lower back is a symptom ir is it just a result of a visit to the osteo yesterday? Is my extreme tiredness a symptom or just that I have been burning the candle at both ends too much? Are my boobs a teensy bit tender because I lay on them funny last night or because that is a symptom too? The other really annoying thing is that all of that could just be because my body is getting back to "normal" after being on the implanon for 3 years.... Argh I don't know!!!! Am I an obsessive symptom spotter or possibly PG????? Who knows!

To top it all off I seem to be coming down with some sort of cold bug thing. sniff sniff Oh woe is me!!!! Have I whinged enough yet?! Sorry ladies I will try and be more positive later in the day. Hope you all have a good afternoon.

Ravenlocks apparently the egg actually lasts between 24-48 hours after being released so there is still time! I work on the basis of SWI for 5 days before OV and 2 days after if that is any help.

queenrollo My DH was pretty shocked with how small that window is too. I went to a Catholic Girls school and I can assure you they taught us bugger all about the biology of getting pregnant. I didn't know what OV was until I went to the doctor when I was 12 years old because I had AF pain just 10 days after my first AF. Madness! Hopefully times are changing!

Ok lunchbreak is over I had better at least pretend to do some work now! Byeeee!

queenrollo · 17/09/2010 09:16

My DP commented that he never knew that there was such a small window to get pregnant in the cycle. I know what he means, certainly my sex ed at school told us you could get pregnant at any time in the month and that's why you should always use protection.
Get to the point where you are trying to get pregnant and suddenly it's not that simple at all is!

Nothing happening here, no symptoms though my hips have suddenly started really hurting. I had bad SPD last time and this morning hobbling around thought to myself 'do i really want to go through that again?' Oh and my left boob hurts but only when i lie down in bed at nightHmm
We're away for the weekend so that will take my mind off things until at least Monday when we get back and i will be counting down the days to see whether the two 35 day cycles were a blip or not.
