Popsy what an awful time you have had. Mc at 19 weeks must have been terrible. I miscarried at 14 weeks 12 years ago before I had dd got pg straight away (young then) but was like you in so far as I wouldn't buy anything for ages in fact I had nothing until I had reached 9 months(good job she wasn't early)!! I am sure everything will be fine for you this time, more than half way through already :)
I think I will ask for metformin when I next see the consultant. I get one appointment every three months and it's in the new year.
And thanks I was thinking that clomid either works straight away or not at all. I just thought I would be of by now but here I am just finished my 6th lot of pills! :(

Hi confused I had 9 cycles years ago and then decided to stay as we were. I was way too stressed!
Then I fell pg naturally but lost my boy at 19wks. After a hideous year we decided to try again and had clomid for 6months fell pg and then lost our son again. They have me 3 more months as they knew clomid plus metformin worked for me. I thankfully fell pg again after 2 months. I'm now 26+wks with a little boy. Everything is looking good with our LO. Fingers are firmly crossed.

I think because I had a break I was able to take clomid again. Plus they added metformin after 5months second time round.
Xx

Really - Good luck with your scan :)

Popsy it was me who asked about conceiving after ages on clomid as I am on month 6. 17 cycles, I thought you couldnt have more than 9!

boba82 · 06/12/2010 15:52

Best of luck with the scan tomorrow grumpy, everything will be fine. x

reallygrumpy · 06/12/2010 15:26

boba sorry to hear you're feeling down, the pg announcements are really hard when you're ttc and it feels horribly unfair.

highheels so sorry about your scare, it sounds terrifying, I hope the spotting has stopped now.

Thanks to everyone who said nice things when I was feeling down last wk. I know I must seem v self-centred being on a thread like this and not being euphoric about being pg. It's just that it's taken me so long (2yrs) to get here and I had a miscarriage during that time with 3 weeks of weekly scans and not knowing if the pg was viable (scan 3 revealed the foetus had died) and so I'm really scared this is going to go wrong. I have managed to arrange a pregnancy scan for tomorrow so we'll see what that shows...

Take care all and good luck to those of you just starting clomid. The best tip I picked up from this thread was to take the tablets in the eve to reduce side effects.

boba82 · 04/12/2010 12:55

welcome threisthesnowball

Another day another pregnancy announcement. One of our friends announced today Envy Deep down of course I'm happy for them, just gets harder and harder to deal with. Sometimes feel like it'll never be our turn Sad

nonu · 04/12/2010 09:28

hi all, justvstarted clomid round 5 and sorry about your panic high but just try and calm down if your scan is showing everything is ok so just take it easy , i know it is better said than done but relax fingers crossed for you...

thereisthesnowball · 03/12/2010 17:14

Hello ladies. Is this the Clomid support thread? Got my prescription today and will be starting in a couple of weeks. No idea what to expect and I haven't got time at the moment to read through this - am marking my place for now and will come back next week once the inlaws have gone home. Just wanted to say hello!

boba82 · 03/12/2010 15:35

glad all ok with your bean highheels

grumpy can't you just go to nearest EPU? x

highheelsandequations · 03/12/2010 14:01

really that sounds very expensive for a private scan, you should look around, maybe ask on the pregnancy board? I know that people there haven't paid that much. I know what it's like to be so anxious. We've had one worry after another over the past 5 weeks and even after seeing everything's okay on a scan I'm still terrified. Doesn't help that time has slowed to a snails pace. How many weeks do you think you are?

Sorry for arrival of AF nonu and confu3ed.

Yay for shorter cycles boba!

Warlin I gave up on the OPKs as never got a positive result, found temping and charting CM (once I got ever the Xmas Blush a little more reliable. Do you have PCOS? If so the OPKs can be misleading as your hormone production does not follow a 'normal' cycle, which I believe can happen even when ovulating.

Waves to everyone else.

Well our little pip has given us yet another scare this week. Had spotting on Tuesday night and then again in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Dr didn't want me going to EPU as too risky driving in the snow so spent Wednesday in an absolute panic. DP phoned GP yesterday morning and convinced them to refer me as I was a complete wreck and absolutely terrified. Delighted to report that scan showed everything fine, healthy 8+ week embryo and heart beating away. Apparently I have some sort of separation of part of my uterine lining which has caused the spotting, midwife said this is common and nothing to worry about. Was so relieved yesterday but then today I have been having another panic. Spotting is still going on and although the midwife said it might continue for a while until the tear heals over or else that section comes away sompletely I just wish it would stop so I could relax. Keep asking DP thinks like "she did say it was okay if the spotting continued?" and "she did say this was nothing to worry about?". Sorry for me me me and I know that this is not something some of you will want to be reading just now but we just seem to be having one panic after another with this little pip!

Warlin · 03/12/2010 13:57

Reallygrumpy...so happy that is has worked for you and will keep everything crossed that it all goes well.

You should try and relax though as stressing won't help. Try and take your mind off it with Christmas shopping and stay positive.

I would love to be pg and at least have a chance!

reallygrumpy · 03/12/2010 13:51

Sorry warlin it was you who mentioned OPKs, the only ones that ever worked for me were first response. DTD because you have to definitely takes away the romance, DH and I had a big row a few months ago when he said he was fed up with having to 'perform on demand' and I got v cross and said he wasn't the one having to take horrible drugs with crappy side effects. It's all fine now but ttc put alot of pressure on our relationship.

reallygrumpy · 03/12/2010 13:46

boba, nonu and confused sorry AF arrived, fingers crossed for the next cycle.

I can't remember who said they've been using OPKs, I've used the ££ ones and the amazon cheapies and the amazon ones didn't work for me.

I went to see the Drs this am. I explained that I'm feeling v anxious after my MC in the summer and she was v kind. she's going to do my referral and see if it's possible for me to have an early scan but she thinks it's unlikely so if I want a scan before 12wks I'm going to have to pay for a private scan which is £130.... Oh and she reckons my due date is 28th July but I think it should be later than that.

Warlin · 03/12/2010 12:39

Nonu...know how you feel, its so frustrating! Confu3ed is right, have a few drinks and pick yourself up again for another go next month.

I am fed up doing my OPKs every day and not getting a positive. Every day there is a faint line or more often no line. Every day is like a kick in the teeth...why can't I ovulate!!

My MC has always been regular (31 days) and shows up without fail each month. I suppose I'm lucky with that but I can't seem to ovulate so have no chance of pg until I do.

All the DTD is exhausting and frustrating when at the wrong time (how romantic!).

boba82 · 03/12/2010 11:16

Woo hoo AF got me today. Not the result we hoped for but I am soooo grateful to have a cycle that is under 100 days and to have my first proper period in 8 months. Hopefully this will be my lucky cycle!

broken thanks. I know it must be hard but try and relax until you get your scan. I'm sure it will be fine.

confu3ed last few have been 100 days +. I'm so relieved the Clomid has worked. Feel better in myself as it makes me miserable, bloated & spotty!

misflick glad yours are getting shorter too, it's a good feeling isn't it?! Oh and you don't want the snow we've got, 20+ inchs does not make life easy!

nonu sorry AF got you. By my calculations I didn't ovulate until about CD28 or 29 so we were SWI at completely wrong time. Obv AF turned up so you must be ov earlier than that. I know it's disappointing but on the plus side at least you've not been left hanging on like last month. x

confu3ed · 03/12/2010 10:52

Nonu I feel your pain it's driving me nuts too, it's an awful time. I have had enough of the disappointment each month. At least you can have some guilt free Christmas drinks and fingers crossed the festive season involves tonnes of getting busy and a bfp for new year! Chin up Hun you will feel better in a couple of days, I do today round 6 has started x

nonu · 03/12/2010 10:11

Just a quick update, looks like i am out this month AF showed up today morning, so its back to clomid round 5, God this is aaarghhhh....... i dont know how long i can take this....

confu3ed · 02/12/2010 22:38

Miss Flick - Good news that your cycles are becoming shorter. I am starting partying this weekend too and alchohol is so on the cards!!! I have brought some preseed but DP thinks that is a turn off so not sure what to do. Fingers crossed its a BFP for both of us this month!!

Nonu I found that i get no CM around the time i should and it starts about 5 days before AF and lasts right up to when it comes. That said it is possible to OV really late.

Warlin - Exercise is fine, although I dont run as much anymore, scared that it wont work but I am sure there is no truth in that at all!

Broken Thank you for teh advice the doctor did say every other day to me from days 10-20 but if we can keep it going all month may actually work but not sure if we can keep it up for the whole month as tiring and hard finding time as we both have crazy jobs and an 11 year old! I think I am going to use teh tests again might go for expensive ones as not convinced by ebay cheapies. I just hope it works this month as side effects have started again and the pills actually make me feel quite ill.

Nearly the weekend!!! :) x

Brokenbits · 02/12/2010 22:17

confu3ed I meant to comment on your post about DTD every day. It might be better (and presumably less tiring Grin) to do it every other day. This keeps your man's supply of swimmers a bit stronger and healthier. Just as doing it too little can make them sluggish, so can doing it too often make them too dilute. Nice! Grin Every other day is more than enough (as sperm last at least a day or two, some even keep going for 5 days!)and then it's been suggested that you DTD for 3 consecutive days from the first positive OPK. Obviously this largely depends on whether or not you use OPKs and they work for you, but there's nothing to stop you SWI every other day for the whole month after AF? At least then you know you haven't possibly missed your window of opportunity if you happen to ovulate later than you think. Knackering though! Smilex

highheelsandequations · 02/12/2010 20:33

warlin I kept up my exercising whilst on clomid (gym/classes about 4 times a week) and Drs I spoke to seemed happy with this. I did cut down after a while though as I just felt I was overworking my body and wanted to chill out a little. Kept going to pilates and yoga (and pole dancing!) regularly but cut out the high impact stuff and took it a little easier.

Warlin · 02/12/2010 12:40

Hi everyone

Boba- thanks for the advice. It's good to know that you don't always ovulate between 5 and 9 days after the last pill...I will keep using the OPKs every day until I AF...although I really think it will take a few months and maybe a higher dosage for it to work with me. Will you up the dosage next month?

Nonu- I think it is possible to ovulate really late (and really early..my friend got pg on day 5 of her cycle) so anything is possible. It's so frustrating when AF is late though as you get your hopes up...will kep my fingers crossed that its late for a reason....

Broken- I know how you feel on other peoples announcements...my DH told me last night of 2 friends of his that are now pregnant. Pretended to be pleased with secretly feeling kicked in the stomach.

But hey, hang in there everyone...some Christmas drinks will take our minds of it...and Jan is a new year...new chance! Maybe this time next year we'll all be in luck!

Does anyone have advice on exercising while on clomid..? Have read that you shouldn't do too much as your ovaries swell. I normally gym 3-4 times a week and have slowed it down...don't want to do that long term though as putting on weight won't help things!

x

Brokenbits · 02/12/2010 12:35

Hi nonu I'm not sure tbh. I'd definitely ask the question of your consultant. I thought that after a certain point the eggs lost their viability, but there's absolutely no harm in DTD and hoping. Don't waste a potential window of opportunity!

It's horrible having long cycles. I really hope you don't have to go through the same saga as last month. If nothing else, it gives you so many fewer chances than everyone else to conceive each year. You have my every sympathy, but get off the computer and get SWI! Best of luck. x

nonu · 02/12/2010 11:22

Hi all this going to be another rant today is cd/ 30 and no signs of Af , just please dont let be like last month when I was 13 days late, it's getting on me now... One question , can ovulation take place as late as cd 30 on clomid, lots of sticky clear CM (TMI),maybe this could also explain the late period last month, need advice.,,,,

Brokenbits · 02/12/2010 09:02

confu3ed Rant about it all whenever you like. I used to find that some days I'd be marginally less mental than others. Then there'd be yet another pregnancy announcement and I felt like stabbing the happy pg person in the eyeballs. Blush It will happen for you, I'm sure, but comments like that used to really irritate the hell out of me too. After 2 years of smiling for other people, I felt like a real hypocrite when I congratulated others, as I honestly didn't really mean it.

MissFlick Ooh Hong Kong! That makes a lot more sense in terms of your levels then. They measure them in totally different units here and abroad. I think a level of 15 for you shows ovulation and, as you say, over 25 would be a very positive sign for strong ovulation. I actually fell pregnant on 50mg the first time I took Clomid. However, my fertility problems stemmed from a really hideous mc that lasted about 3 months and most of my tests came back normal, so I think it was just a hormonal blip that hadn't corrected itself. We know I'm fertile when I work as DS was conceived in the 1st month of trying, but I saw it as similar to an IT problem. I just needed a spot of rebooting to get working again and the right dosage of Clomid will hopefully do the same for you! Best of luck.
I'm now 5+3 from what I can work out. Climbing the walls until my 7 week scan!
