HI all, a huge welcome to the new ladies. I hope you find this thread as useful and friendly as i have:)

OMG jo 12 weeks! How exciting for you. Are you prepared? What have you bought so far? I bet there were plenty of shocked faces:)Sorry i havent been in touch i'll reply at some point over the weekend hun xx

Highheels the hospital sounds like its well and truely messsed up. Definately havent provided the best care for you. I have had, in total 17months of clomid!! So maybe they will give you an extra month or 2 to compensate their mistake.

I think the treatment length and monitoring varies so much. I was told after they found the right dose my scans etc would stop. Its very unfair when all we want is reasurrance that the clomid is working.

I haven't been posting much as i've been well too stressed out with our 12 week scan looming, so i decided to stay away for a while. The scan went really well :) :) :):o
Hubby and i are soooo relieved. I know there is still a long way to go but it was a huge hurdle for us.We have now told mum and dad and our DS and a few close friends. Still not completely ready for it to be common knowledge yet but i am getting there.

Fairy its typical isnt it, as soon as school starts, the sun comes out!

Hope you are all well and enjoy the weekend.
xx

gardenpixie · 04/09/2010 09:47

Thanks job that's really helpful. I wonder if I might book myself another scan next week and see what's going on. I'm loathe to write off this cycle and there were definitely follicles there so fingers crossed they've done something.

Hope everyone else is well and that your weekends are getting off to a great start Grin

jobobpip08 · 03/09/2010 20:59

Hey high how you've been treated is appalling, I would definitely push for more clomid, they have really fallen short in their treatment for you. I hope you've managed to get some answers by now.

Hello and welcome to brassica clipclop and pixie

brassica the monitoring seems to very depend on where you are.

clipclop clomid seems to have quite a good success rate. If you get scanned on day 10 it will depend if the follicles are big enough, whether or not they will give you the 'trigger' jab. You may need to go back in a few more days to give them a chance to grow.

pixie I'm surprised they didn't get you back for another scan, you didn't have follicles over 12mm so do you mean you did have some though? If so, I would say the clomid is doing its job i.e. to make you ovulate, the follicles grow daily so its quite possible they would be bigger in a few days, especially if you've a longer cycle. Keep BDing! And yes, as my GP told me you can get symptoms any time of the month as it affects your whole cycle (boosting oestrogen which in turn ups progesterone).

grumpy some people find symptoms on 100mg less than on 50mg, it seems to affect different people very differently. Fingers crossed it won't be any worse, but if it is, you'll know its the clomid and not you, iykwim!

cloudy you sound just like me doing the charting, i could never do anywhere near a full month, just a few days before and then till the end of the month!

Hope everyone else is ok

hi stac 12 weeks to go, seems very surreal.

Thanks cloud for the welcome and the advice. Headache seems to be disappearing but that might just be because I've had my first sip of G&T for the weekend! Blush

It is very confusing ...

I think you are right about just keeping going with the BDing. I suppose the only sure way not to get pg is not to do that at all! Smile

cloudwine · 03/09/2010 17:32

Hi to pixie. I haven't been on this thread for long but everyone has been really helpful and informative with my millions of questions! I can't help you with the tracking I'm afraid as I haven't been offered any Sad If it helps, I usually ov around day 17 or 18 I think. Maybe just have sex on day 21 and 22 anyway, you've nothing to lose?Grin Someone will be along soon I'm sure to shed some more light for you. As far as the headaches go, mine were at their worst mid cycle, which didn't make much sense to me either, but hey ho. Fingers crossed that they don't last too long for you.

gardenpixie · 03/09/2010 17:09

Hello ladies, could I join you?

I have just started on clomid and am a bit confused about the whole thing.

I took my 5 tabs (50mgs) and had a scan at CD12 but my Dr said she couldn't see any follicles over 12mm so she thinks it hasn't worked and I need to go for 100mgs. I am all Confused though as I do ov without clomid around CD20 / CD21. Does anyone know if it is possible to ov later on in the cycle after clomid? Or if there were no biggies on CD12, is that me done for this cycle?

Also, do the side effects only happen on the days you are taking the tabs or can they happen after too? I have had a splitting headache today and don't know whether it's anything to do with the clomid.

Please excuse my newbie-ness and numpty questions ... have also left messages for my Dr but no response as yet ...

(Hello highheels I promise I am not stalking you from the other thread!)

cloudwine · 03/09/2010 09:32

grumpy- will mention my concerns about scar tissue when I'm at the GP next week- not holding out much hope though. I'm starting to feel I may have exhausted my NHS 'quota'. I won't lie to you, my side effects on 100mg weren't nice (think I had a bit of ech one on the list) but they did only last about a week mid-cycle. Maybe you won't get any? Just keep telling yourself it'll all be worth it in the end!

reallygrumpy · 03/09/2010 00:34

Hey all,

fairy apologies in advance if I offend but are you taking metformin? It can help women with pcos lose weight and I've definitely found losing weight easier the times I've been on it.

cloudy you could ask your gp to refer you for a scan to check for scar tissue.

highheels (love the name BTW) that stinks! Hospitals are so shit sometimes. I hope you manage to get it sorted out.

I'm just waiting for AF at the mo so I can start clomid again.... Bit scared of 100mg dose and worried about side effects...

cloudwine · 02/09/2010 10:23

Hello all

jobo- I have to confess i am a very lazy temp taker- I only bother a few days before I think I ov and a couple after. I've found I get a bit obsessive otherwise!!!!

grumpy- I haven't have any checks for scar tissue. It's something that's on my mind a lot as I had a lot of damage after ds birth. 1 miscarriage later and I can't help but wonder if that's related.

fairy- how's the weight loss going? (or would you prefer I keep my nose out??!!

highheels- I feel your pain, you poor thing. For what it's worth, I REALLY think you need to kick up a stink. Clomid sometimes feels like a limited luxury as we're only allowed 6 tries- maybe they may let you have an extra month if you've been on such a low dose? Hmm

Welcome to clipclop and brassica- brassica you're the same age and same stage of Clomid as me! Cheers Smile

Day 25 in the cloudwine house, and cloudwine has realised it's the first month in a year she can't even be bothered to mad symptom spot as it leads to disappointment Sad

nonu · 02/09/2010 07:53

Thanx stac14, but it just seems to be a long road ahead, yesterday had my first ever side effects with clomid , a splitting headache and some blurred vision for 10 secs or so.....

clipclopclipclop · 01/09/2010 14:54

Hi everyone

Found this thread at last after following about 4 full ones! Good to know it's an active topic!!

I was prescribed clomid this morning, wasn't expecting it but any help is welcome.

I have a little girl - under two, but it took us almost 3 years to conceive her. we were on the ivf waiting list when we fell unexpectedly. Been trying ever since to get pregnant again but nothing. So today the doctor offered us clomid.

I don't know that much about it, i had heard of it before, but now I'm trying to read up on it. Does anyone know what the success rates are?

So the deal is, take clomid cd2-6, get scanned on cd 10 and get an injection and then you'll ov prob in 36 hours time. is that right?

I have sooo many questions going through my head!

stac14 · 01/09/2010 10:36

thats shocking treatment highheels i would definately complain and find out how you are supposed to book hsg with irregular cycles. Hope you get it sorted hun

Hi nonu best thing to do is get bding, i have an 11yr age gap. Dd was born in july following 2yrs ttc. I was on metformin at the time which helps pcos. You'll get there luv

Hey to everyone else, how are our pregnant ladies? jo its getting close for you. Well thats rileigh 8wks old today, she's all smile and gibbering stories such a joy. I hope you dont mind me still being here, just like to keep in touch as i gained so much support on here when i was ttc nice to give some back.

fairy whens your app? X

BrassicaBabe · 01/09/2010 08:58

Hi

May I join you?

highheels dealing with the bureaucracy (I had to spell check that in Outlook Grin) must be frustrating you to hell and back.

I'm on my first month of clomid. I'm 37, regular periods, but no BFP. 50mg for 4 months. The next consultant appointment is booked for January! Is this normal, not to be monitored?

Thanks

nonu · 01/09/2010 08:25

Thanx jobobpip08, today just finishing 2nd round of clomid and all that i can do is wait for the right time and miracle to happen....

highheelsandequations · 31/08/2010 21:00

Evening ladies, and welcome to nonu.

Apologies in advance for the rant but I am annoyed this evening. So last cycle was cycle 3 of clomid. I was told to take 25mg on days 2-6 for 3 cycles and to get my day 21 (ish) blodd progesterone checked each cycle. As last cycle was my "last chance" and 25mg is a very small dose, I flirted with the idea of upping myself to 50mg to give us a better chance. Then decided I was wrong to go against medical advice and stuck with the original dose. Blood results indicated I ovulated but no baby for me. So today I get a letter from my consultant dated 8th August (and postmarked 28th Aug) saying that my blood progesterone from July 16th (cycle 2) indicates that I have probably ovulated and if I needed to take a 3rd cycle I should take 50mg, not 25mg. This information arrived 5 weeks too late for me to do anything about it. Now I am annoyed that they didn't tell me until it was too late and am thinking "if we'd had the higher dose would I be pregnant now". Am I overreacting here?

2nd annoying thing about the letter. It continues to say that if the third cycle on 50mg isn't successful I should phone to book my HSG. The information goes on to state that the HSG is available on a Monday morning only at either 9am or 9.30am, there will be a wait time of up to 3 months and it must be done in the first two weeks of the cycle. So my cycles before clomid were completely irregular, how can I book an appointment 3 months in advance for a specific time in my cycle when they could be all over the place again by then?

DP says I should phone up and complain about the time taken to receive the letter and ask them what I should do now but I hate complaining to people.

Was feeling fairly down today anyway as work is fairly awful just now and my stress levels are through the roof, which makes me feel ill, and just having one of those days when you are convinced you will never be pregnant. Then that letter just made everything even worse. Fairly certain I'm overreacting and I know things could be a lot worse but it just seems to be yet another example of the failures of the NHS and things that just don't help on this journey.

Apologies again for the rant. Hope you are all well and wishing you lots of babydust (hopefully it isn't tainted with grumpiness!)

jobobpip08 · 31/08/2010 19:03

nonu yes, you should take your bbt first thing, before you get up, preferably at the same time every morning as it goes up gradually if you have a lie in! The temp shift for ovulation is only about 0.5 degree I think. If you google 'bbt charting' you should be ale to find plenty of info.

hi fairy hows things with you?

Cloudy I stopped taking Clomid in February. I'm only here to keep up with those I met on here a year ago. IVF is the route we're supposed to be taking but I'm over weight & because I have PCOS find it very difficult to lose it!

reallygrumpy · 30/08/2010 19:06

Hi nonu I felt very fed up when I didn't get pg on my first cycle of clomid but I did get pg on cycle 3 (then had mc at 7 weeks). I'm about to start clomid again and I'm trying to focus on the positive - I got pg on it before.

cloudwine I don't know if you have to have (and pay for) all the tests again. I had a scan last week cos the consultant wanted to check that they'd removed everything and there wasn't any scar tissue which might affect implantation before I started clomid again.

nonu · 30/08/2010 09:18

Thanx for the welcome and it gives gr8 courage and one question the temp is to be taken in the morn and it showed be hoe high to know that there is some kind of progress...

jobobpip08 · 29/08/2010 20:43

hi nonu and welcome. I think we all hoped it would work first time with clomid, there are so many success stories on the web. I found I had painful follicles leading to ovulation with clomid but also I was lucky enough to get monthly scans to verify.

cloud your temp spike sounds good - it should stay elevated now. My OPK's always showed the hormone surge - its just that isn't a guarantee of ovulation, as I found out and it sounds like you did to. Our biggest weed was about 7 foot - and I was just digging it out when our (award winning garden) neighbour stuck her head over the wall to say hello! I suppose we make her garden look good! I didn't realise just how bad it was up there, it just looked lush and green from a distance Grin. Hope the hotel was lovely.

hey girls, today cd-4 and second day of clomid-100mg , no side effects as yet, not sure whether it is working or no, feeling very low Confused.thanx for the welcome CLOUDWINE

cloudwine · 28/08/2010 11:09

Angry Had just typed a really long reply and have lost it. Apologies if this one is brief!

Grumpy- thanks for the costings. do you think it will be a similar price for me as dh has already had a sperm analysis and I had a scan of my ovaries and womb last year just before my miscarriage? Finances may become an issue for us and the way I'm thinking is if we can save any money now it may mean an extra IUI later on, if it comes to that.

Jobo- my temps showed a spike on day 18 so I am hopeful that I've hatched an egg this month. Does that mean I would have ovulated the day before? I no longer do OPK's as they tell lies Grin I know what you mean about the weeds. I was thinking of trying that weed and feed stuff on our lawn till I realised it was 70% weeds and would look VERY brown if they all died!!

highheels- Yay to hangovers. Good girl!

MIL has taken ds away for 2 nights (I cried, he was fine!) so dh and I are off to a hotel for the night and I don't even care if it rains Wink Happy Bank holiday weekend to you all. xx

highheelsandequations · 28/08/2010 10:38

Cloudy I've just finished cycle 3 of clomid. Was initially told that the maximum number of cycles I could have would be 12, but not continuously. Was told that after 3 cycles I had to go back for a HSG and depending on the results of that we'd see what the next step should be. I'm on the NHS, saw a consultant before starting the clomid and assuming we'll be back to see him re the HSG. Unfortunately I was so overwhelmed at the initial appointment that I didn't ask all the questions I now wish I had. My clinic have been really good with appointments, booking me in for tracking scans really quickly and at suitable times, and they've also done my blood tests for me when I haven't been able to get an appointment at my doctors surgery.

I am feeling a little under the weather this morning as we went out for a spur of the moment dinner last night and far too much food and drink was had! My lovely DP has now gone to buy some fresh bread to satisy my toast craving :)

Hope everyone's well and enjoying their weekend. Unfortunately the bank holiday doesn't apply up here so back to work on Monday :( Hope the rest of you enjoy it!

Babydust for all.

nonu · 28/08/2010 10:37
