lily sorry, knew I shouldn't have posted when I was tired! My cons said I had a slightly short luteal phase, maybe the low progesterone was a seperate issue to that, but he did said the clomid would help. I agree with super your BBT temps do sound positive for ovulation.

clipclop how did the scan go?

fairy no mat leave for me - I'm already a SAHM. How are things with you?

lady how are things with you, all well?

confu3ed I didn't like testing - if you got a BFP it was a kick in the teeth followed swiftly by another when AF arrived! So I gave up in the end and just waited to see.

welcome super hope the appointment goes well.

hi stac rileigh's looking good!

hey ladies, soz not been on for a while. Just noticed some of you are using opk's very early on a lady on here advised they are a waste of money as pcos causes false readings. Also if you ov one month on 50mg but not the next the cons may keep you on that dose for another month to see what happens. Also you should always be monitored on clomid as it can over stimulate your ovaries which isnt good. I'l pop back later for a proper catch x

Thanks highheels and jobobpip. I'm not sure whether my progesterone levels are actually low - they didn't actually give me the result when I had them done, but seemed satisfied that I was ovulating. I chart my BBT and it shows a clear rise in temp which stays up for my full luteal phase, so maybe my progesterone is okay. I need to ask them more specifically.

Confu3ed I know what you mean - my consultant said it was 'normal' and 'irrelevant' but I definitely didn't used to get so much (before DD was born) and the web and books (clearly very scientific sources Blush) are full of stuff suggesting it is a problem. I dunno.

Have you tried charting? You would definitely know when to get the bloods done and it would give a fairly good idea about whether you were regularly ovulating. Ov+ tests on different days is no big surprise - I can ovulate anything from CD13 to CD19. But I don't know if there's an issue with charting and clomid (i.e. whether charting would be reliable). Anyway, hope you have a better day tomorrow.

highheelsandequations · 13/09/2010 21:05

have never had a + ov test :( but sure I've ov-ed, it sounds like you might be ov-ing but maybe having the bloods on the wrong day? Have you asked your consultant? sorry you're feeling down xxx

confu3ed · 13/09/2010 20:53

Lilysma my consultant said that the bleeding is normal for some people, not convinced as it has only been since m/c that I have had it.

Highheels Bloods were day 21 both months, only 20 this month though. The strange thing is that i had a + ov test both months but on very different days the first day 18 the second month day 14. I am not convinced that they work after this month! Have you used the tests?

jobobpip08 · 13/09/2010 20:06

Hi everyone
Just a quickie as my brain has gone to sleep already!

Lily Hello and welcome Smile I had clomid prescribed as I had low progesterone - with is effectively a luteal phase defect. The clomid tricks your body into producing more oestrogen, which in turn helps you ovulate, which in turn raises your progesterone in the second half of your cycle. It has worked for me. Can't help with the tubal problems tho.

Babydust everyone xxx

Hi to supersunny and lilysma, sorry i can't give any advice about clomid with blocked tubes as mine are (hopefully) clear. Supersunny my first appointment at the fertility clinic consisted mostly of lots of questions, already had the diagnosis of PCOS from a gynaecologist but they did another internal scan to check (!). Then had to arrange rubella and chlamidia screening through my GP and DP had to have semen analysis before we could get the clomid. I was given 3 cycles initially now have to go back for the HSG as we've been unsuccessful. It's taken us about 10 months from the original referral to get to this point.

Confu3ed 37 is a good score for progesterone, anything above 30 means you ovulated. My maximum result was 41 and the consultant was happy with that. As long as you're ovulating you shouldn't need to increase the dose. Are you sure the blood was taken at the correct time in your cycle? My results were taken at CD25, then 21, then 23 and the 23 was the one that was good. Consultant said that it was probably the case that I had ovulated on the other cycles but blood was taken a day or 2 out and the levels can drop dramatically within a day.

Hope everyone's okay and had a good start to the week. I'm shattered, haven't stopped yet and so am planning on putting my feet up for half an hour and doing nothing.

lilysma · 13/09/2010 19:23

Hi confused, thanks for the response re spotting - interesting - what has your consultant said about it if anything? I don't think not ovulating necessarily indicates issues with your tubes. I seem to ovulate every month but apparently the egg can't get down the tubes or the sperm can't get up to meet IYSWIM.

confu3ed · 13/09/2010 16:09

Fairygodmother - I was told that it looked like I had PCOS when i had a miscarriage last year. My treatment was awful at the hospital so opted to go to another for the infertility treatment, only this time they have not even examined me, the initial appointment lasted 5 mins at most and I walked out with Clomid I was told to have one blood test and that was it. I wish now I had asked for more tests etc. I am scarred that there may be some scarring as the ERPC post miscarriage had to be repeated as they missed the products.

Having a bad day again as just got my day 21 bloods back and i didnt ovulate this month. I did last month only 37 though which I don't think is great either.

I guess that the doctor will just up the Clomid at next appointment? Has anyone else experienced this? Worried that 50mg has not made me ovulate.

Supersunnyday - I got Clomid first appointment but we had blood tests, semen tests etc before the appointment which sped things up. As you can see above not sure if that was for the best or not now Hmm

Lilysma - I also get spotting for a few days before my period, only happened since miscarriage though. The first month on clomid I still had the spotting on day 24, this month no spotting, I thought that the clomid must have kicked in but I didn't ovulate so I guess not. I guess I must have some issue with my tubes if I am not ovulating every month? It is so frustrating not knowing!!!

Fingers crossed for everyone, let's hope this month brings us all some joy!!!

lilysma · 13/09/2010 16:01

Hi Fairygodmother, thanks for the welcome - I obviously don't really know what I'm talking about but I've read that clomid can help if there is a luteal phase defect, though I'm not actually sure this is the problem with me! Hmm, sounds a bit flakey when I say it like that - basically I am desperate and will try anything Sad

Fairygodmother1 · 12/09/2010 21:51

Welcome Supersunnyday the first app for me was blood tests, internal sweeps for potential infections & a general chat about my health & history with DH. He was also sent for sperm tests. We didn't get the clomid till our second app a few months later (thinking must have been 6 months later)as I had HYCOSY & scans.

I also have PCOS & no DC. Clomid made me ovulate but nothing stuck. Now trying Metformin. Glad you are getting tracking as I was left to it!

Which St Mary's do you mean?

Welcome also to lilysma One of the other ladies may help you as my tubes are clear. What do you mean by 'corrects' the 2nd phase?

How is everyone?

xx

lilysma · 12/09/2010 09:43

Hi everyone, I'm also a newbie with lots of questions, sorry! My main one, though, is if anyone has been prescribed clomid with a blocked fallopian tube. I have one from an ectopic pregnancy 5 years ago (before I had DD, now nearly 4, who was conceived within 4 months). Have been TTC for 14 months with no joy Sad.

DH and I have been through the tests etc and the only problem they can point to is that my tubes may not be working properly - apparently whatever caused the ectopic may also be affecting my other tube, though it appeared to be clear on the HSG. I did get a BFP the cycle I had the HSG, which miscarried very early Sad. I also have 4-5 days of premenstrual spotting, which the consultants say is not an issue, but this isn't what I read!

Anyway, the last time we saw the consultant, 6 months ago he said, 'give it 6 months and then we can try IVF'. He was also going to put me on clomid first but I was still bf DD at the time. Have stopped bf now and wondering whether to go back and try to get clomid before going down the IVF path. I'm 37, so time is not on my side, though my FSH was apparently reassuring.

Sorry, this has turned into a rant Blush. My main question is whether clomid is likely to help given the potential tubal problems. One of the reasons I am keen to try is that I have heard it 'corrects' the second phase of the cycle and I'm still convinced I have problems there...

Any experiences to share gratefully received!

Fingers crossed for you highheels. xxx

highheelsandequations · 11/09/2010 14:59

Hi everyone,

Quick post as we're due to go to a bbq soon (although I just want to curl up with my book really). Heard back from my consultant, he said that seeing as the 25mg worked (ie made me ovulate) last month there was no need to up the dosage so now need to book my HSG. Acupuncturist was really positive that she thought the treatment would work for me and it left me feeling very relaxed (to the point of being nearly asleep) although I've felt a bit yucky since, but she did say that I might feel run down or ill due to nasty stuff leaving my system. Need to run. Hope everyone is good and enjoying their weekends. Back tomorrow to catch up properly.

Fairygodmother1 · 10/09/2010 21:25

confu3ed · 09/09/2010 23:02

Couldn't finish my sentence either, awful especially as lots of you are teachers! Anyway I hope everyone is well big time babydust to you all x

confu3ed · 09/09/2010 22:40

Sorry damn iPhone. Meant to say pcos not Oxox!!! Xx

confu3ed · 09/09/2010 22:39

Sorry to gatecrash ladies but having a bad day and could do with some help. Has clomid made anyone elses bodies play cruel tricks on them and made you think you migh be pregnant when you are not? Mine did this month and now I feel awful like I will never get a positive pg test, in fact I am giving up on them, I vow never to pee on another stick unless my av is very overdue as negative test after negative test sucks!!!

I am glad to read that so many of you have had success on clomid as makes me think that I should not throw n the towel yet! Did 50mg work for anyone or was it only when the dose went up?

Sorry to ask so many ?'s just feel so anxious about the whole thing. Other half (sorry not sure about acronyms/abbreviations) thinks that I am putting too much pressure on this and thinking about it too much and that's why I have not got pg yet! Anyone else had this??

HighHeels you have had such a rough ride, it's crazy to hear how treatment varies so much from place to place!

Can't believe there are so many ladies with oxox on here too, let's hope that there is luck just round the corner for all of us, and

Fairygodmother1 · 09/09/2010 20:52

Cloudy Apparently it helps my body cope with insulin as the PCOS doesn't. That'll help me lose weight which should in turn sort out my cycle & promote fertility!!! Or so I am told!

Stac you are making my eyes water!!!! 12lb!!!!!

Jo Glad you are well. When does Mat Leave begin??

jobobpip08 · 09/09/2010 19:41

hi fairy good news about the metformin.

emmy apart from seeing if there is a blockage, the lap and dye can help clean out your tubes - I know a few people who got pregnant after having it done.

cloud progesterone level sounds really good

high hope the acupuncture went well

pops poor DS, it must be worrying for him but don't feel guilty or selfish, you are neither. Our DS has been rather indifferent to it all although he does seem to be getting into it more.

stac glad to hear you've got a clean bill of health. Time is flying by for me, I'm fairly organised having alot of stuff already.

lady hope all is well with you

We've had a great day, the schools were closed for our annual air display which is always brilliant, we get a really good selection of civil and military planes plus the Red Arrows. I'm not a big plane spotter but this is just fantastic to watch (and catch up with friends!). They fly over a large bay which is a great natural arena. And although DS couldn't sit in a helicopter this year, he did sit in a Harrier so was delighted. And tomorrow when we walk to school the French display team (second of course to the Red Arrows and miles ahead of the Belgian team who only had 4 planes, bless) will fly over us on their way back to France.

stac- I forgot to say how impressed I am that you have a new baby, and you manage to type coherently at almost midnight! Dh says I'm doing well if I can string an intelligent sentence together after 9pm Grin
