Hi supersunny :) thanks for the welcome! Anymore news on your faint lines? Everything crossed for you...

My situation is probably a little different to lots of you. Firstly, I live in HK so I am not on the NHS and have a private medical insurance which covers things like blood tests and scans but at the minute I'm not sure how many scans and blood tests it will cover or if it will cover clomid.

I came off my pill last November and we tried for 3 months with no success. Took a break in february due to best friends's wedding in New Zealand for which I am a bridesmaid and I naively thought I would be able to get pregnant as soon as I wanted.

Started to try in June and am still here now. Not a very long time but my main concern is that I have been off my pill for a year and my periods are still horribly irregular. Yesterday I went for a scan to see if a cyst that had been spotted on my left ovary in a previous scan(6 weeks ago) was still there.

The cyst had disappeared and there were no other follicles on my left ovary. When my gynae checked my right ovary she saw a 22mm follicle and said it looked like I was about to ovulate which I thought was about right as I had been having some pains on my right side and EWCM yesterday and the day before. I then reminded her that I was on CD 34 ( I have a history of long cycles, no PCOS and all hormone blood tests have been normal) and she retracted and said that as I was so late in my cycle I might not ovulate after all despite the large follicle.

Of course I came straight home and googled and saw lots of information about how large follicles can just turn into cysts and that just because a 22mm follicle has been observed it does not necessarily mean that ovulation will occur.... does anyone have any experiences of late ovulation?

I Asked the gynae for a HCG shot to trigger ovulation with the 22m follicle but she said no and that she would like any intervention to take place next cycle. So here I am! Mr. F has a sperm sample pot to provide a sample asap and I have instructions to call on CD 2 to receive the Clomid. Well, I think it is Clomid- my adorable Chinese doctor calls it 'Ovulation Medicine' :) My gynae says that I will receive follicle tracking but I am currently worrying how I will fit it around work without giving the game away... I am a teacher and am meant to be going on a trip to Bali for a week in November and I am going to pull out when I go back after the holiday... having a baby means more to me that free school trip to Bali. I will have to make up a vague truth for school though as I don']t want the big bosses to know that I am TTC. Am struggling a little with the speed of how things are happening for me (although am not complaining) and like most of you,I'm sure, I'm shocked that I am having to take this journey- everything has always been 'easy' for me and this is the first major challenge that I've ever faced and it is hard to cope with at times, especially as my best friend and TTC buddy announced her pregnancy on Thursday Hmm

Anyway, such a long post about me and I know that you are all on a way more complex journey than me. I look forward to sharing stories with you and don't meant to be so self obsessed, just giving you my background :)

Good morning all,

I wondered if I could join you?

It looks like I will be starting Clomid or similar next month so thought that it would be good to chat to others in the same boat rather than bore the ladies on my usual thread.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better :) waves to highheels, womanly and garden

U never know with PCOS! I read that PCOS means that you get 'dryer' CM - I've never had that!!! (Sorry if TMI) Grin

highheelsandequations · 15/10/2010 16:32

Thanks for the suggestions girls, have tried good knickers, wearing a light coloured skirt for a photo and even shorts to my exercise class but no luck so far. Suggested swimming to my friend on Monday but she declined. May have to go down the progesterone route soon... Should I phone the FC or see my GP about that does anyone know? In other news, just to confuse me completely have been swimming in EWCM all day today, surely CD54 is too late for ovulation? Any thoughts?

stac14 · 15/10/2010 06:31

dont know why double post at everyone x

stac14 · 15/10/2010 00:15

thats good news fairy it was only 2m on met, i got an echovist scan in august, went back to the cons who said i couldnt have more clomid and would have to pay for ivf. I asked for met as it could be prescribed for pcos. I got them and started on 500mg 3x per day, didnt have af so gp upped them to 850mg 3x per day then found i was pg on 20th november, but had conceived 6wks previous so only 2m on met and no clomid. I asked my gp to give me it to help me loose weight and was told it doesnt work (liars) it has for you and did for me Smile.

high reallys right defo go for progesterone then you can get hsg sooner hun x

Reallyg yeah it's coming off slowly - think I'm into my 3rd week of 3x a day. Apparently Stac took 2 months to fall pg but havent had any other confirmation on other average times. Cons saoid he'd give me 3 more months if this 3 months don't work.

reallygrumpy · 14/10/2010 21:00

highheels- a more sensible suggestion is if af doesn't arrive soon you could go to your doc and ask them to prescribe progesterone tablets to bring on a bleed. I think you have to take them for 10 days and then that should bring on a bleed. Hope that helps!

confu3ed · 14/10/2010 20:52

Supersunny - Chilling out about it is really hard especially when all your friends seem to be preggers!!! Good luck with the clomid not long to wait now :)

Highheels I find running brings mine on, as fast as possible and for as long as I can, also takes my mind of everything for a while.

Reallygrumpy with you on the headaches on 100 mgs and painkillers don't work, I seriously had the worst headache last night I think I have ever had without a hangover! On day 9 now and the hot flushes seem to have stopped and no headache today so looking up!

Hello to everyone else xx

reallygrumpy · 14/10/2010 20:29

highheels I think best knickers and white jeans are your best bet for encouraging af Grin

fairy is the met helping with weight loss? I'm only on 1 tablet per day this week and I'm taking it in the eve so the side effects aren't too bad but I think when I'm taking 2 tablets next week and 3 the week after I'll probably feel a bit grim... I'm just hoping it will kick start my dodgy ovaries into actually producing an egg!

Fairygodmother1 · 14/10/2010 19:51

Plan to do something where you can't go if af is here - ooh & white jeans lol!!

I wish I could help...been there before.

Hi everyone, quick update from me. I am still on the neverending cycle (CD53 today) and can't book my HSG till my period starts. Getting very fed up waiting and feeling like I'm in limbo. Just want to move forwards and feel like I can't just now. Did POAS just in case and BFN (no surprise there). Am still having acupuncture and enjoying it. She did a point that she hopes will get my period starting in my session this evenng so fingers crossed that will get things moving. In the meantime if anyone has any "how to get your period to start" tips then please share them!!

Fairygodmother1 · 14/10/2010 19:03

Stac I'm full on af today so made it to 3 weeks without bleeding so mets is working. Lost a few ponds again this week so edging closer.

Super I need a BMI of 29 to get IVF but hoping the mets will work!!!

xxx

stac14 · 13/10/2010 02:16

fairy i spotted on and off for about 5/6 wks, i had no idea i was pg and kept cramping so assumed af was on its way. Did your bleeding stop after the last time?

really i didnt get to take clomid again when i was taking the metformin as i fell pg before i took clomid and i know you were the same before. its a good thing to get a break from clomid too

super dd is amazing and tiring but i wouldnt have it any other way. Sorry it was bfn hun, you'll get your l.o. When do you see the cons? What monitoring are they giving you? I had cd 21, cd 28 and cd 35 to check hormone levels. X

Stac the spotting has stopped again today. What's going on????

Hi Supersunnyday, relax is the last thing you can do & it takes time to calm down. 2 weeks time & it'll be the 3rd anniversary of us deciding to try for a baby & we still don't have one!!!!I'm more relaxed than I used to be but can still get myself worked up & addicted to google!

Hey Really grumpy you can join my Mets club!!!

stac14 · 12/10/2010 12:10

hi supersunny soz i havent posted much as i had my much tried for dd 14 weeks ago. Best bit of advice i was given was to take clomid at night it lessens the side effects. How was the test?

really think everyone has felt that way at sometime. Ttc seems to overtake your life, but at least you can come and go as we all know how you feel

to everyone else, how are you all? X
