MissFlick · 29/10/2010 05:06

Morning all,

Sorry to hear your stories confu3ed and broken. It is so hard to hear other people's announcements when you are feeling so frustrated and like it's never going to happen. I had a similar thing two weeks ago when my best friend announced her pregnancy. I knew she was TTC and we were 'TTC Buddies' sharing all of the details of our journey with each other. We both have long irregular cycles and I just thought for some reason that it would take us both a while to get there. If I'm being truly honest, I think I thought that I would get pregnant first- either way, her news came as such a shock to me two weeks ago and I found it so hard to cope with- I think it was the mixed emotions- being happy for her but feeling sad for myself and then feeling guilty for feeling that way! I'm feeling ok with it now but I see her everyday as we work together so I am reminded daily of the fact that she is pregnant and I'm not.

broken my cycles are so irregular that I never know when I am 'late'. I will test in a few days if my period has not arrived I think.

How are you doing nonu? You are so strong!

How is your plan of action going reallygrumpy?

Big waves to HH and womanly :)

confu3ed · 28/10/2010 21:41

Broken that is awful I cannot believe that anyone can be so insensitive. Mind you my sis told me today that I should be happy for her! Fat chance!

I had one ERPC after a missed mc months later had no af and the docs wouldn't listen to me when I said something was wrong, I was in agony. In the end I took myself to A & E and went for a scan, turned out the whole missed 'product' as they call it was still there. Was rushed in immediately for a second ERPC this time they used a camera to ensure they got it all, but on my discharge notes said they found nothing. When I mentioned this to the doc she said it was incorrect that they had got everything. Took months for AF to come, and things are still not right.

I am glad for this site, as only people who have been through a similar thing can possibly understand.

Nonu - YOu are so good not testing, I would have given in ages ago!

Brokenbits · 28/10/2010 14:02

confu3ed I'm so sorry. It really is awful when stuff like this happens. I know we want to feel happy for our nearest and dearest, but I've got well past the point where I can pretend I'm okay and not jealous as hell when everyone I know announces they're pregnant. Typically, people always seem to announce it whilst I'm struggling with AF. It's not fair. Having said that, this is your sister and I'm sure she will understand how hard this must be for you.

My SIL was desperately insensitive while I was miscarrying. It turned out she'd been waiting to announce her 3rd pregnancy and my mc wrecked her plans. She decided to come over and announce it when she knew I'd been in hospital all day - trying to find answers for the constant bleeding. I remember her saying, "How guilty do you think I felt about announcing this when I knew you were losing your baby?" It still makes me feel sick thinking about it now. At that point I was STILL losing my baby. If she truly did feel guilty, I reckon she would have sent an email rather than come round and watch my expression as I tried not to cry! Her baby was due a couple of weeks after mine would've been due. It's rubbish having a baby the same age around as a constant reminder of what you should have. You aren't alone in this, but I know that isn't any help.

I never actually had an ERPC because, despite the bleeding, they told me everything looked clear and normal. Having said that, I don't remember spotting before AF prior to the mc. It's as if some of us are simply not designed to recover once things go wrong.

womanly Thanks for the insight. Nice to have a rough idea of how many times I'll have to visit the hospital each month. I'm tempted to get a season ticket the way it is right now!

jobo Thanks for your help. I thought the same thing about the temp spike, but they don't seem interested in double checking. I suppose I still need help with the LPD, but I guess there's no way of knowing until my scan tomorrow.

nonu I would be POAS like a woman possessed by this point. You must have a will of iron! Any symptoms? Fingers and toes crossed.

MissFlick Hope it comes soon. It was the only month that I actually wanted to see my period and it came late! It's almost as if my body knew! If you are late, I'd do a pg test before inducing a bleed, just to make absolutely sure you aren't pg.

confu3ed · 28/10/2010 10:07

Damn it my sister is now pg after 3 months of trying, feel awful and worse because I can't be happy for her. I really feel like it will never happen for me and just want to cry :(

nonu · 28/10/2010 09:38

hiiii, cd-36 and AF is not there in sight i think another two more days and i should test, wat do you say i am very anxious, ........its exciting and also frustrating ,Confused Confused

stac14 · 28/10/2010 07:54

confu3ed a month off can save your sanity, you must be really stressed with the move if you give yourself a month off you'l settle in and relax more

Wow nonu you have great willpower i'd have caved ages ago, fingers crossed for you

** at everyone have to get ds up for school be back later x

confu3ed · 27/10/2010 18:50

Hi Broken - It is strangely reassuring that you are not alone, as most people around me get pregnat and have babies! My friend was pg at the same time as me, the baby is now 7 months old and I have not managed to get pg again! I thought it would happen right away, i had a miscarriage 12 years ago before i got pg with my DD, took me 4 weeks to get a BFP after that occasion and just thought it would be the same. I guess I had age on my side then as was pretty young. You had an awful time, the bleeding sounds terrible. Yep the dildo cam is not fun, but i have no idea if i am ovulating and if so when as apparently the day 21 test is inconclusive!

I also have bleeding before AF but only a little and surprise never did before the ERPC, did you? The doc told me to take it when AF comes properly and not before, for me this is sometimes 5 days after initial spotting. Not sure about OPK's the consultant told me not to bother as you get false results and TBH I reckon it puts extra stress on the whole thing.

Jobob thanks for the advice, i defo have the blues! We have just moved house too so loads of stress. I think a break is a good idea, DP doesn't though.

Good luck nonu and well done for not testing!

Missflick - Fingers crossed it comes soon.

Babydust to all x

womanlytales · 27/10/2010 14:56

Best of luck nonu and excellent job in resisting to test. Hope it's a bfp. Wave to flick and HH.
broken I am going through my second round of follicle monitoring and typically it's two scans and a blood test.

highheelsandequations · 27/10/2010 14:33

Fingers crossed for you nonu

grumpy I believe that you should wait a few days after finishing the clomid before using OPKs as in the first few days after the pills you can get a false positive. Can't remember how many though...

MissFlick · 27/10/2010 12:33

Thanks reallygrumpy I think I will give it until 9th November as that will be equal to my longest cycle length and will then ask for the progesterone.

I hate the 'announcements' it's always such a mixed bag of emotions isn't it? I have heard so many stories of women who conceive on a month off Clomid so fingers crossed that you are one of those :)

reallygrumpy · 27/10/2010 12:10

Hey missflick if AF doesn't arrived you could ask doc to prescribe progesterone to bring on a bleed.

Yet another of my friends has announced she's pg so I'm feeling v impatient! I'm armed with cheapo opks from amazon and hoping I ov this cycle (I'm having a month off clomid so fingers crossed the metformin works). I asked the cons at my last appointment about using opks with clomid / pcos and he said they can work but there's a risk of false positives...

Fingers crossed nonu

MissFlick · 27/10/2010 11:17

Everything crossed nonu.

Sorry have not been a regular poster on this thread but am still in limbo land waiting for my period to arrive before I crack on with my first cycle of Clomid.

nonu · 27/10/2010 10:05

hey, just posting an update cd-35 and no whereabouts of AF, my hopes are getting higher as each day passes but have vowed not to test for another two days so as not to be disappointed thanx for all your love and support really need it..........

jobobpip08 · 26/10/2010 22:06

hi broken I found clomid made my cycles slightly longer than normal. My consultant said I had low progesterone and a lp defect (altho I think that was marginal) and that the clomid would help both. If you're getting a temp spike it sounds like you're ovulating. I think the OPKs don't always work. I didn't bother charting, but my clinic was very good at the whole scanning bit. The month I had off the clomid I knew I was ovulating as it was quite painful.

confu3ed the clomid actually made me feel depressed so if you feel you need a break from the stress of it all, and my god is it stressful, then that is a really good idea. Looking after you is really important. ((()))

nonu still fingers crossed for you

Brokenbits · 26/10/2010 20:31

Hey grumpy, thanks for the welcome! Yes, the pg announcement thing is so hard to take isn't it? For some reason, I find it a little easier on these threads when people fall pregnant than I do in RL, but it still feels hard.

I never in my wildest dreams thought this would ever happen to me. TBH I kind of assumed that once I'd had one DC, I'd be okay. It's a particularly cruel twist of fate to miscarry and then be completely messed up because of it. After a year, I think it's unlikely that my body would just suddenly correct itself! We've been trying for DC2 for 2 years now and I'm beginning to think my DS will never have a sibling remotely close to him in age. Thank God we started trying when he was only 6 months is all I can think, though we're not there yet!

Thanks for the info re tracking. I have an appt on Friday which will be day 10. Even taking Clomid is hard for me because I have about 5 days of spotting before AF kicks in, so I'm constantly hopeful that it might be implantation bleeding, but it never is and cd1 is a bit of a mystery! I have to just try and wait until I know I'm definitely not pregnant. Does anyone know if the day you take it has to be an exact science? Everyone seems to start taking it on different days from what I've read.

Can't imagine the impact of metformin and clomid. The things we put ourselves through eh?

Hi jobo. I'm still not entirely convinced that I'm not ovulating. I just think that if it happens at all, it happens in week 3 of a 4 week cycle, so I obviously have a LP defect and know I have progesterone problems. I tend to get a temp spike around day 22 at the moment. Does Clomid make you ovulate earlier or later? I'm concerned that my scans/ blood tests will always make them think nothing is happening if they do them too early. Sounds like you went through a lot to get your BFP. It is comforting to know I'm not the only one this has happened to and that there can be a positive outcome.
I am taking my clomid at night, as I'm told it's easier to sleep through the side affects, although the night sweats can cause disturbance. Maybe I'll try them at a different time next month, always hoping that there won't be a next month! Grin

confu3ed So sorry to hear you're in a similar predicament and had such an awful time too. Though I always find it reassuring to know I'm not alone. I've researched hormone imbalances after mc and there seems to be so little info out there about it. I basically bled for 3 months following my mc and nothing weird showed up in any scans so they just left me to it. I was so desperate to stop bleeding so that I could TTC again that I took the pill for a month to try and regain some normality and move on. I don't know if it made things worse or not, but I doubt things could have got much worse in all honesty! I find it astounding that in some places they don't track you and just leave you to it. Surely this puts you at greater risk of multiples or hyperstimulation, though I guess it depends on the dosage you take. In some ways, I quite like the idea of being left to it though. Makes it seems a lot less clinical if people aren't sticking things up your fanjo and telling you when to DTD all the time!

nonu Fingers crossed! I was there about a week ago and fully empathise with the endless POAS battle. Best of luck.

Ooh one other thing. Do any of you bother with OPKs and charting while on Clomid? I have heard that it can cause false readings and be a waste of time but, given that it's my first month, I want to do everything I can to SWI at the right time. Can you use OPKs effectively if you don't suffer from PCOS? So many questions...Smile

nonu · 26/10/2010 09:40

hi, cd-34 and hopes are still up as no sign of AF just trying not to test and its been a struggle............

confu3ed · 25/10/2010 23:03

Hi really! Yep I am going to take a break too, tge side effects and stress are all too much, I hope it will help. Is having a month off clomid ok then?

Thanks stac yep tried at night but can't sleep for the headache and hot sweats, nightmare!

Hi broken I also had an awful miscarriage experience a year or so ago a double erpc which has messed up my cycle completely and now on clomid. Can't help with the follicle tracking as I have not been offered it all I get is one blood test every three months.

Hello to everyone else x

jobobpip08 · 25/10/2010 20:11

Hey really well done on the weight loss.

nonu fingers crossed for you

pops I've just about done all my xmas shopping - I'm determined to be organised this year!

welcome broken I had secondary fertility and it is very hard to live with. I took my clomid at night, don't know if that would make your nightsweats worse? Unfortunately the mc rate is quite high, between 1/3 and 1/4 of all pregnancies, no matter what 'means' you use to get pregnant, the best thing is to make sure you're eating/living heathily and doing all that you can that way.

I lost my baby 2 1/2 years ago and it seemed to completely mess my hormones up. I got pregnant after a year but m/c, then went on clomid to help me ovulate as I had stopped. It did make me ovulate again and the month I had a break from it (after 4 months) I got my BFP. It seems that the tracking/scanning is different everywhere, not much help I know!

Hope everyone else is well, halloweeny babydust to you all xxx

reallygrumpy · 25/10/2010 19:47

Hello brokenbits sorry you're having horrible side effects from the clomid, mine weren't too bad on 50mg but horrendous on 100mg and sorry about your awful mc experience. I had a mc followed by erpc in the summer and still find it hard somedays, Usually when I hear yet another pg announcement.

I've had 2 lots of follicle tracking now and both times I was scanned on cd9 and then a few days later. The first time there was a follicle so I only had 2 scans plus a blood test, the second time there were no follicles so they did a third scan but still nothing. I'm currently taking metformin and having a month off clomid and then I'll do 2 cycles of clomid plus met. As for people conceiving on clomid and then miscarrying, I'm not aware that clomid increases your chances of mc but clomid is often used by women with pcos and unfortunately having pcos is associated with a slightly increased risk of mc.

Brokenbits · 25/10/2010 10:17

Hi all. Can I join you? For the past year, I've been on the miscarriage thread - as a really hideous and long-winded miscarriage last October left me infertile. I'm now on my first round of Clomid after numerous tests, scans and an HSG. Everything seems to have come back relatively normal in terms of results, except my day 23 progesterone which was 6! Sad

I'm due to go in for follicle tracking on Friday which will be day 10. How often each month do they do scans? I'm trying to stay positive, but some days I just feel that I'm the only person who isn't pregnant! I know this is very OTT, but it seems everyone I know has announced their pregnancy in the last few months. This is made harder by the fact that I conceived DS within a month of coming off the pill after being on it for about 13 years. I come from a very fertile family and I suppose I'm in denial (still!) that this could be happeneing to me. I've been given a 3 month supply of 50mg Clomid and told that I can have a maximum of 9, before they will consider alternatives. So far, I'm just having horrible night sweats and finding myself really irritable and stressed, but that's not altogether outside of the norm at the moment anyway!

It seems an awful lot of people get their BFP on Clomid only to go on and miscarry. I'm not sure I can take that again. Sad

nonu · 25/10/2010 07:49

hi, thanx for all your advice and am at cd-33 with no signs of AF, have decided not to test until i am a week late , dont want to be disappointed, need lots of baby dust and all your support, will keep you posted........[hhmm]
