lady both times I did ovulate after the MC's but it took a bit longer. I'd say it was about a week later than normal that i ov'd and then a week later that I got AF.

I don't think I actually charted either month so not sure about temps etc.

I found it very hard to face sex after the MMC (not sure if it was cos of the EPRC or just too upset). But after the MC in June I got straight back on the horse (so to speak) as soon as the bleeding stopped.

I was off work both times. I think it's a personal thing but I agree with you about taking time off lady. I just needed that time at home - I didn't want to be at work and start crying etc.

Take care honey. You'll get there again.

Re: thyroid. I'm worried that even the best result for me was 5.5 and that is way above guidines. I guess it's not a problem unless I get a BFP though.

empty Are you still around - how are you?

babyval meant to say the other day. Well done on the scan etc. Glad all is going well with your little valentine baby.

bessie26 · 13/09/2010 21:10

empty hope things all go smoothly on thurs & you get closure on this very sad episode in your lives. Stay strong.

ladyggg I started temping again as soon as I'd stopped bleeding, they were a little wonky, but not way out, YMMV. You should be able to see my charts on FF, my last mc was in march this year. It reckons I O'd the following cycle, but I'm not so sure, and my LP seems very short (they were the 2 shortest cycles I have ever had!)

In other thyroid news (perhaps we should start a separate thread for this? Wink), my GP phoned today with my latest test results. TSH is now up to 10.8 (was 6.6) so there is a prescription waiting for me at the surgery! It's just for .25mcg which is the lowest dose possible, but she told me to ask the people in gynecology about dosage & the "ideal" range for pg on thurs (I will also ask about TTC!)

LadyGoneGaga · 13/09/2010 20:40

Thanks spilt. Signed off this week and part of next so going to take some me time.

I went to GP today to get sick note for mc and discussed thyroid with her a bit more. I said I was concerned and anyway I didn't feel well at 3.5 TSH and that pg women should be under 2 and she said no probs at all to increase my dosage now to treat how I feel rather than the numbers as I will be needing it for the next baby anyway (God love her!). So she put me up by 25mcg to 125mcg which I am happy about.

Hippy and anyone else who sadly has experience of this, What is your experience of charting after mc? Did your cycle behave in a predictable fashion or all wonky. I mean immediately after mc could you chart as per normal?

spilttheteaagain · 13/09/2010 19:04

LadyG I'm so sorry to hear about your MC.

And empty, as everyone else has said we'd love you to stay and you are very welcome here. I'm so sorry that it was bad news and will be thinking of you on Thursday.

Wishing you both and your DHs lots of love and hope you get some time to grieve together xx

hippychick66 · 13/09/2010 14:27

empty I echo what lady said. I know some people were horrid on the other threads, but everyone on here wishes you well and totally understands how bitter and cheated you feel.

I also understand what you're saying about carrying around dead babies. It is so horrible to find out that what you hoped was a healthy baby, is in fact a feotus that has either stopped developing or not even started.

When I found out at 11.5 weeks that mine had stopped at 8 weeks I felt like an idiot, I had been telling people I was pregnant and there wasn't even a live baby in there. But the fact is that foetus (and the empty sac I lost 4 months later) may not have been live babies BUT I was ready to love them and welcome them into my family and it was not my fault at all that they didn't make it - just as it is not yours now, lovie.

I really hope that you do find the strength to try again if it feels right for you and I hope that you do get to experience a healthy pregnancy. I know you are extremely sad and bitter right now, but I hate to think of you refering to yourself as a coffin for dead babies.

Thinking of you and hoping that you don't wander off. xx

LadyGoneGaga · 13/09/2010 13:41

Empty I am so very sad for you. I mc'ed at the weekend so know what you are going through.

Please don't vanish - maybe avoid the main forums if you feel like that but lots of us here know what you are going through and can try to help support you so I hope you can stay.

It's good that you can hopefully get some answers about what is causing this. Will be thinking of you on Thursday. Gentle hugs to you and your DP x

emptyshell · 13/09/2010 13:08

Bit of an update before I vanish from the site cos I think I'm done (want to slap too many people on the main forums for thinking they're somehow better than us because their plumbing works and I don't belong).

Just been for scan number 3... confirmed dead, starting to disintegrate... d+c (I refuse to use that Products of Conception phrase) booked for Thursday.

Quite where we go from here I don't know - thankfully our PCT investigates after 2 miscarriages and not three at least, so that's some hope. I don't know if I have it in me to try and go through it all again - after having to spend the best part of the last month as a walking coffin for two dead babies.

LadyGoneGaga · 13/09/2010 10:26

I don't think you have to have a dip on your chart to be pg, Orchid anyway. But typical is around 7 dpo I think but can do up to 12. I obsessively looked for charts with implantation dips in their gallery and they are quite variable.

Orchid12 · 13/09/2010 07:38

Hi all,
LadyGG I'm not sure if I have said this over on the other thread but I am so sorry you've been through this. BIG HUGS to you.

Thyroid people - I hope things get sorted soon. I can't pretend I understand all these figures but at least you have people on here who do know and who can empathise.

Bessie good luck for Thursday Smile

Can I ask a question? Do people always get an implantation dip on their charts, and if so, when? I did get one when I was PG with DC1, although I wasn't religious about the time I took my temp, so can't be sure it's just not something to do with an early temp instead of a drop (it was at 4DPO). I've now been TTC since Dec and I've had nothing that resembles any dip, and have never been PG in that time. I was just wondering if I'm out for this month as am now on DPO 5 and no sign of a drop (although FF thinks I'm 7DPO). here's my chart

Ell11 · 12/09/2010 23:02

Sorry for your loss Ladyggg - feeling your sadness :( Not sure why you should wait another cycle before trying again- seems like it might be good therapy to get straight back on the horse. But then again if you didn't manage to conceive you might feel the disappointment more harshly because you'd still be feeling sad...? I don't know lovely... You'll have to do what feels best for you.

Bessie, all the best for Thursday.

nice to meet you Babyvalentine and glad all is well with you- congrats!

I've re-discovered my love of red wine since not TTCing- it's helping!!!

bessie26 · 12/09/2010 21:26

thanks hippy Smile I think I'm 9 weeks tomorrow. Have been a bit wobbly this last week as I only got to 8.5 weeks last time, but am still feeling nauseous & temp is still up(!) so fx everything is ok.

hippychick66 · 12/09/2010 21:06

Good luck for thurs bessie i know you've been through the mill and, like me, you've probably had scans that didn't work out well but I have fingers crossed that all will be fine. How many weeks will you be by thurs???

bessie26 · 12/09/2010 20:39

hippy try not to worry, but good idea from ladyggg about trying to speak to a specialist - we can send you armed with all our questions! Grin It's frustrating, but I can understand why your GP doesn't want to prescribe you anything if your results are changing so much so quickly. You really don't want to be taking pills you don't need!

my levels 3 months ago were

  • TSH 6.61 (normal range 0.25-5.0)
  • free T4 11.5 (normal range 9-23)
  • my anti-bodies were "fine"

I should hopefully get my latest results tomorrow!

The first GP I saw said that as I was "only just" outside the range, I didn't need any treatment, even if pg.
When I saw my GP, she still didn't seem concerned (even after I showed her the guidance) as I was "only just" outside the range, but said if a re-test showed similar results she would prescribe me something.

I mentioned my results to my midwife last week & she wasn't worried either! (I do wonder if anyone worries about these things other than us?) I've got an appointment at gynecology on thursday (first scan - am bricking myself) so will ask them about thyroid results too!

LadyGoneGaga · 12/09/2010 19:27

Hippy Can you ask your GP to refer you to a Specialist? I don't follow her logic tbh.

hippychick66 · 12/09/2010 17:27

Thanks for the guidelines. I am a bit worried now. the second thyroid test my GP did came back as 5.5. As this was very different from the 9.07 that i'd got prevoiusly she said that this proves that my thyroid is struggling to cope and sometimes coping better than others. There were high levels of anti-bodies (I'm thinking it said 88). Anyway, she said as it was fluctuating so much she didn't want me to start on the tablets just yet for fear of making me over-active. So she's asked me to go back for another blood test in 6 weeks and hasn't started me on the tablets yet. But if I do get pregnant soon surely 5.5 is high compared to the NHS guidelines????

Sorry long ramble. Arrggh.

newyearsday · 12/09/2010 09:47

I'm so so sorry lady and your dh for your devastating loss :(

I'm thinking about you xx

LadyGoneGaga · 12/09/2010 08:18

Bessie that's really useful. Unfortunately they did not increase my dosage and left me at 3.5. I'm feeling a little bit annoyed right now, it may or may not have contributed to the miscarriage but now I am left with a "What if?". Going to ask GP to raise my dose to 125mcg on Monday.

BabyValentine · 11/09/2010 22:15

Hi everyone,

I just thought I'd pop back on to see how everybody is getting on.

So sorry to hear empty, ell and ladygaga's news Sad. Wishing you all much love.

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow (by my dates, or 18+6 by scan dates - sonographer dismissed my charting abilities) and we had our anomaly scan last week and everything was fine Smile. Congrats to all the ladies who have had BFPs since I left. Hoping there are many more to come!

bessie26 · 11/09/2010 21:07

ladyggg I'm so sorry for your loss Sad

In case it's interesting to you here's a link someone sent me to some NHS guidance on hypothyroidism and pregnancy.

IME different doctors say different things about TTC after MC & I think you just have to do what feels right for you. After our last m/c we had a couple of cycles where we didn't try very hard IYKWIM. I think it was good for us to relax and try do something other than think about making babies. Oh, and drink lots of nice red wine Grin

take it easy
bessie x

hippychick66 · 11/09/2010 20:33

Ahh sweetie what a nice thing to say. I'm glad I'm supportive to you. I don't know about the strong bit but that's another story.

I think 3.5 is within the correct levels isn't it? Do ask your GP if he/she thinks that your thyroid could have contributed and please do let me know the answer. I'm guessing they will just say that 1 in 5 pregnancies end in early loss and it was probably just not quite right.

Lets hope that the old theory that you're more fertile after a loss are true in your case and that you are soon preggers again.

You will feel differently next time you get a BFP and unfortunately you will worry, but you are young EnvyGrin and you have every chance of a success very soon.

Much love to you, your DP and your little one.
xx

LadyGoneGaga · 11/09/2010 20:01

Thansk Hippy. This has been a spontaneous loss also at 7 weeks and looks like all has come away. Will see when I stop bleeding how I am feeling. I'm only 32 and haven't had problems conceiving so far. Feeling a bit wobbly re: my thyroid issues (medicated but TSH now at 3.5 on recent test which I think is too high but Dr says is normal) and wondering whether it may have been a factor in this loss. Going to speak to GP on Monday as will need a sick note for work in any case.

There is no real rush, but on the other hand my little boy is 2 and desperate for a sibling. This will only be a half sibling (different father) and I sort of feel the closer the age gap the more it will help them to have a close bond so he doesn't feel pushed out at all. That may be completely irrational but is my thought process!

Hippy this has given me a real insight into what you've been through. I always though MC must be upsetting but just didn't realise just how horrible they are until this week. Huge respect for you to have come through it all and be as strong and supportive as you are. xxx

hippychick66 · 11/09/2010 18:47

lady So sorry to hear your news. It's pants isn't it. Sad

I was told that the only reason they like you to wait a month is so that they can date a pregnancy if you are ucky enought to get preg immediately.

Personally, I've done both. After my MMC in Feb I had a n EPRC and I felt that i wanted one period before trying just to be sure that my body had recovered from that.

Then in June I had a spontaneous early loss (7 weeks). We had a scan and they confirmed that it had all gone by itself and the lining was thin just the same as at the start of a cycle. So we decided to just start trying straight away. And I did ovulate that first cycle after MC but it was a little later than usual.

I hope that helps honey.

Loads of hugs from me. Not sure of your age or circumstances but I'm guessing you're fairly young so your odds for next time should be fine. All the best. xx

Saladbomb · 11/09/2010 15:14

I am so sorry lady for you and MrG but glad you are comforting each other. He sounds like a rock.

IDK about a medical reason you shouldn't but emotionally do you want to put yourself under that pressure straight away? Maybe you could take a few weeks off to comfort each other and take solace in miniG before trying again? And on the practical side figure out what your cycle is doing. Of course, only you know what right for you but its just a thought. If you really want to then maybe talk to a gyne who would have more of a clue than the A&E doc?

My thoughts have been with you very much this weekend. Take care of each other. xx

LadyGoneGaga · 11/09/2010 14:53

Just wanted to let you know that I miscarried this week. Just back from the hospital and they've confirmed everything is gone. Very sad but we are ok and supporting each other.

Do you guys think is ok to try again straight away? The (very) junior Dr we saw advised us to wait until next period but when I asked her why said she didn't know!

Saladbomb · 10/09/2010 23:07

I am not sure ell11 I don't know if that would mean getting another referral from the GP and starting the process over at a different hospital. But i would still end up being treated at the same FC so not sure if the delay would be worth it!.
