Hi Ell11 Thanks for taking a look. I will take your advice about default time, I cant see myself being able to wake at the same time everyday so I'm gonna use your plan! I am plumping for day 62 (the one in the middle of the three options!) as ov day.

I guess you are right about needing longer to understand it all. I am feeling incredibly impatient this month though as its first month TTC post mc.

wish me luck! xxx

Ell11 · 21/09/2010 12:42

Hi Mummyabroad! When I was temping, I noticed that as long as I took my temp as soon as I woke in the morning (after at least 3 hours sleep) it was pretty consistent however if I lay in bed for a while and waited for a specific waking time, then took it, it was always slightly higher. So I set a default time on FF and didn't worry if I woke at a different time - that meant I didn't have loads of hollow circles on my chart. My charts were always really easy to read as long as I remembered to stick the thermometer in when waking!

As for EWCM - I didn't really get much and was always confusing with semen so relied on my temps which seemed very accurate.

You'll get to know how your body works when you've been temping for longer - hope you don't have to though - good luck!

MummyAbroad · 20/09/2010 23:59

Thanks digitalgirl, that makes loads of sense.

digitalgirl · 20/09/2010 23:17

mummyabroad I reckon 62 or 63. Possibly late in the day on 62 which us maybe why you got ewcm appear the day after as you were still fertile? I also got quite and abundant batch ewcm a couple of days after I think I ovulated a long with a slight temp drop - so must have got a mini oestrogen surge after ovulating which can happen according to Toni. In my case I think temps are more accurate than ewcm as I'm always confusing it with semen. It really helps to take your temp at the same time if you can. I reckon as long as you're not UP and walking around that you can count lying in bed as asleep.

MummyAbroad · 20/09/2010 22:15

I know!! So tricky its driving me nuts...

That day 63 EWCM was really dramatic, is there a hierarchy of signs? e.g. is EWCM more definitive than temp shift?

LadyGoneGaga · 20/09/2010 22:08

Hmm, tricky as you continue to get EWCM after your temp shift. Def 61,62 or 63 though I reckon.

MummyAbroad · 20/09/2010 21:58

ok, I think it might work now, just did "Add chart"

LadyGoneGaga · 20/09/2010 21:55

It's still coming up blank...maybe you have to tell it to publish on home page set up? Anyone else know?

MummyAbroad · 20/09/2010 21:51

Hello everyone, sorry to but in but I've come a begging for opinions... Anyone got some time on their hands to help me out?

I am very new to charting, doing my first ever one, just nearing the end of a 2WW and getting desperate and obsessed keen to see what you think.

Its a WTF post ERPC cycle by the way.

Got some questions for you:
When did I ovulate?
Does it matter that I have so many hollow circles (DS crawls into bed and wakes me up, I figure its better to take temp immediately at least I have been asleep 3+ hours)

How accurate is this charting business anyway? I just read a thread that said that gyne's dont take it seriously as they are notoriously inaccurate (Shock ), is that because people dont do them right or is the whole science disputed?

any other tips for a newbie much appreciated.

digitalgirl · 20/09/2010 21:14

ell agree with others that there's no need to rush getting back on the horse (as it were). Your dh sounds so understanding.

So ff changed it's mind as to when I might have ovulated to a day that I think is more likely. I normally get really obvious bloating and cramping on the day I ov. Wonder if the new running regime has somehow masked the usual hormonal effects.

ladyggg am I supposed to change my trainers every 6 months?! Have still got the same ones from pre-DS! I am a ridiculously slow runner though, might have something to do with it.

Saladbomb · 20/09/2010 19:42

Thats very sensible Ell bless him. They are good for something other than providing sperm then? Wink

MIne has been very sweet recently and v v supportive, after having an initial wobbly about IVF he's being very positive about it so thats a relief. I was worried what it would be like if one of us wasn't fully committed to it and thought it probably would be a Very Bad Thing.

Ell11 · 19/09/2010 23:29

Lady, IVF is still an option but DH (who is not being so ruled by his hormones and emotions at the moment) wants us to wait a few months before we make a decision. We need to heal a bit first so that if we do decide to go for it, it's not because we're hurting after losing a baby IYSWIM.

Ell11 · 19/09/2010 23:23

And thanks Bessie!

Ell11 · 19/09/2010 23:21

Thanks Salad, Silver and Lady...think I'm going to give it a couple more weeks as I may well slip back into it naturally - it would be the ideal! Also might do a bit of research into who I could talk to in the meantime.

I'm more of a swimmer than a runner. I did both when I was younger but I'm a short-arse and running seemed a lot harder work! I don't like being cold when I get out of the pool either though... bit of a wuss really! Think wandering round shops is my kind of exercise. Can probably rack up a mile or two just going up and down aisles!

bessie26 · 19/09/2010 23:16

Hi ell, good to hear from you. I've never had counselling, but like the others say it can't hurt (what harm could a yogurt knitter do?!) & I think it's often easier to talk through stuff & work out how you feel with someone not directly involved in your situation IYSWIM.

salad & ladyggg when I was young & did some races (just 5/10k ones) I became a member of the local running club. You got cheap race entry (as you were running "for" the club) and I got a 10% discount at the local running shop Smile Oh, and you got a group of people to go running with, which I liked as I do like to have a good chat when I'm out!

Saladbomb · 19/09/2010 12:42

Good point lady I hadn't thought of that, although I don't think race entry fees would ever be an expense I would have to worry about :o

LadyGoneGaga · 19/09/2010 10:17

Hi Ell, I think counselling can't hurt. But it still is very early days, hon. It might be that when and a your natural hormone cycles get going you might start feeling, ahem, a little frisky in any case and after a couple of glasses of wine it might resolve itself. Sorry, didn't mean that to sound quite so flippant but you may just find you need a bit more time. But second the others, counselling may def be helpful too. Are you still thinking about looking into IVF as well?

Salad not sure about the "free" thing. Yes, in principle but then you get into it and have to factor in new shoes every 6 months, new kit, race entries, heart rate monitors etc. Sometimes I think a gym membership would be cheaper!

Saladbomb · 19/09/2010 08:12

Ditto to what littlesilver said Ell It already sounds like you are getting your head round it and thinking of a positive future but if you feel this is going to be an issue then I guess its better to try and sort it out sooner rather than later. In the mean time take it easy and don't rush things if you aren't feeling ready.

Thanks for all your comments/reassurance re my OV date. Will look out for AF on Thursday. digital looks like FF is pretty sure about yours. I guess if the next two or three days stay up it might change it?

Very impressed with you runners, esp ladymarathonrunner. I tried it a few years ago but can't tell you how much i hate it. I wish that wasn't the case as need to do more exercise and running appeals because it's free. :o (need to get back into swimming)

LittleSilver · 19/09/2010 07:50

Morning Ell!

I reckon that sounds a great idea (specialist counselling). I hear what you are saying about it still being early etc, but you could always look at it as being sort of proactive rather than fixing iyswim? Great to hear you are feeling really positive and have lots of other stuff going on. And keep posting, we'd hate you to leave!

Ell11 · 19/09/2010 01:08

Sorry- dumb phone only lets me write a certain amount...

Apart from that one issue, I'm feeling pretty good about the future. I have lots of ideas and areas of interest to persue and of course 2 DDs to preoccupy me.

I'm really sorry to ask for help on this thread as it's not at all charting related or even TTC related but I've not ventured further into mumsnet yet and feel I can trust you guys. I'm even slightly regretting asking you as it's not something you should all be worrying about! You all need to be obsessing together about charts and pg signs and testing too early!

It's probably way too late for me to be posting... Tiredness is not helping my emotional state! Ignore me. I'll be fine Blush

Ell11 · 19/09/2010 00:42

Hi everyone, just to let you know I'm still doing ok... I've been following orders and drinking red wine a plenty!

ladyggg glad you are being looked after.

I've got a bit of an issue I think I'd like your thoughts on as it's worrying me a bit. DH and I haven't had nooky since the ectopic which is now 3 weeks ago. I know it's probably still early days but I don't feel at all ready. For a year, most of our sex was With Intent- as you can probably relate to... and before that, contraception was mostly condoms as I hate what the pill does to me (lose libido) so there was always that thought in the back of my mind - 'I might get pregnant'. Now though, I can never get pregnant. I feel like every time we have sex from now on, it'll just be a reminder of what I'm not capable of and it'll make me feel sad and I won't enjoy it. I'm not sure what to do- whether time will help or talking to a specialist counsellor?

digitalgirl · 18/09/2010 22:48

Bessie orally but I don't think leaving my mouth open is making a difference. I used to think it was higher on the mornings I'd co-slept with ds, but I've had some really low temps this cycle where I've had him practically lying over my head while I take my temp!

salad in sympathy i am also having dodgy ff ov-stimate too. Seems to think I hatched 3 days ago but am quite sure that it's more likely it's happening today (poss yesterday but cervix still v soft and open today).

Still for me if it did happen today then I would be very happy as that's a whole two days earlier than last cycle!

jolls hello! Well put, but hopefully es has switched the computer off to deal with her anger and grief in another way. I do hope no-one here is really taking it personally.

LadyGoneGaga · 18/09/2010 22:33

Digi don't think I replied to you before. Yes, sounds like we have very similar situations. I've been meaning to go for a run again too. I did the Paris Marathon in April but have completely tailed off with ttc and the pregnancy/mc etc. Right, you've inspired me, going back out tomorrow. Always used to find was best thing for stress.

Bessie I did have a nice time at Mum's and DP is looking after me, thanks.

Salad think I would concur with day 14...hope it's a lucky month for you!
