OK - after a lot of reading I have finally had time to post my replies etc etc etc. THE CHAT details will follow later!

minipie
A long time ago I know but the whole disabilities comment was not at all flammable and it is something that I brought up in my TTC conversation with DH whilst we were away.

AC
The whole ?meeting? thing worked really well actually. We were out having supper and it just seemed to happen. We both gave each other time to talk and nobody interrupted or spoke over the other. More on that later?..

No idea where I?m going to go when I ?graduate? from here but hopefully they will be as lovely as all of you. Think I?ll still be on the Waiting thread for a while though. No doubt I will be starting the Waiting to TTC part 7 one!!

Well done for getting your DH into Mothercare! We had a little wander around Bath on Sunday and ended up looking at some baby books in a card shop (they actually had my favourite book from childhood and it was a really challenge to resist buying a copy for our future DC!!) and an amazing shop that sells beautiful handmade wooden toys. I?ve not yet got a bag of purchases but I can see that happening in the not too distant future!!

I hadn?t realised you were also a Persona user. I am on cycle 2 of using it but as last month was unusually long and so it is being overly cautious. Oh well??.. at least DH is now starting to trust and understand how it works. A major step forward!

Bebe
[shocked] at 5 kids!!! Wow!
On the SAHM front I am a bit unsure really. Ideally I think I would love to be one but in some ways I think that I might want to do something part time in order to keep a bit of my own money coming in and also give me a bit of variety in life. Both my mum and DH?s mum were housewives and so that is what we both grew up with. He would love for me to be able to chose to be a SAHM and so I guess it will depend a bit on our finances when the time comes and also on my feelings then. I will def be taking a full 9-12 months of maternity leave though!!!

Well done on the chat. It?s so tough to find the right time to bring it up but sometimes just dropping it into the conversation is the best way to go. I bet you feel so much better now!

Hope that you are feeling a bit better and getting some more sleep

Mrswantstobeamum
Good luck with the dissertation (which I am sure is now handed in and with your tutor. Sorry, I?m a bit behind!) congratulations on your graduation too ? I am sending you wishes for a short time TTC and a healthy PG!

Nannyl
I hope that the wardrobes are up and looking good! What a bonus that you got them for free!!! I love that your DP asks about everybody each morning, hilarious!!!

[excited emoticon] about SWI at fertile time. You?re not going to bugger off and leave us now are you?!!? [shocked] Can?t wait to hear the developments and I am keeping everything crossed that whatever result you get will be the one you want.

Attenboroughfan
Welcome!!! Well done for controlling things without your medication. A really important achievement and a good step on the way to TTC.

Jbells
Am sure my DH would be ok if I got PG by accident but whilst it is so tempting to engineer this ?accident? I would hate to think that every time he looked at the resultant DC he was thinking ?what if??? I know that he wants children and have pretty much got a timeline??. (more on that later) so I feel less panicked about it now (just watch that change in a few months when my friends start getting PG!!!)

Strawberrypie
Loving your O.V.U.L.A.T.I.O.N cheer (and picturing your with pompoms and shiney white trainers!!!) do we all get one!
Well done on the weight loos too. I somehow managed to loose 1.5kg on hols which was miraculous as after day 3 the running and swimming went out the window in favour of eating, drinking and sunbathing!!

When have you and OH put back your TTC plans until??

Also ? very gutted I missed the virtual day at the health spa :( However I am having a fish pedicure on Wednesday followed by cocktails. Can?t wait!!!

Ladylou
Welcome! Sorry to hear you had such a hard time before DD arrived but it?s good to see that you are so evidently loving motherhood. No doubt I will have many questions for you over the coming months!

Brettgirl
Laughing at buying a cot!

Eglu
Welcome! October, not long for you to wait now then. Very exciting times indeed!

JudyPink
Welcome!

Fluffysparkles
Have a wonderful wedding day! I am about to hit my 1 year anniversary on Sunday of this week and I wish I could do it all again!!

100years
Welcome and massive congrats on loosing 2 stone ? it seems this is a good thread for weight loss too!

Thinking of following the pack [sheep emoticon] after hearing all the stories and ordering a copy of TCOYF when I put in my next amazon order (am running out of books again after stocking up pre holiday and getting through 6!!!) Now I just need a secure hiding place so I don?t completely freak out DH?. Could be a tricky one!

Yay! Justshagging great to have you back! Tell us more about this chat!

bebejones · 06/09/2010 12:04

Yum I love turkish delight....scoff scoff scoff! :o
Hope you had a lovely time JS? Welcome back! :)

JBells - we only give DD hers if we feel she needs it, not sure it makes much of a difference TBH Hmm

100years - don't forget muscle is 4 times heavier than fat. If yoru clothes fit better it may be that you have gained muscle and lost fat IYSWIM? Don't get too down, I gained this week too! (But I have been very naughty & eaten too much cake! :o)

Morning ladies!!
I am back in the office :( and can finally check the thread. Just had to copy and past everything from when I went away into a word document so I can read and reply whilst at work!! I've got 35 pages to get through so it seems you ahve all been very busy tapping away on here!!

Will write properly again once I have read through everything but DH and I did have a chat whilst away. Will update all later but just wanted to drop off the "back from holiday gifts" Raki and Turkish delight all round - yummy!!! Confused

jbells · 06/09/2010 10:30

wow well done strawberry :)

bebe- yeah my lil one has inhaler drs advised me to give it to her 5 times a day but i just give it to her when she needs it really, ive found with DD when she started nursery she just picked up one illness afta another :( but then u go the drs now and they say better they catch it sooner than later, hmmm not sure of that one

100years · 06/09/2010 10:29

jbells, today was disastrous, I am showing a slight gain this week, worked really hard last week, but I should be really really pleased with what I did as opposed to letting one little thing get me down. Not getting on the scales for a fortnight, but will keep up the exercise and look at how my clothes fit. Had a chat with OH and he said it doesn't matter what the scales say if I have worked hard and exercised it will still happen. In my head I was putting a lot of focus on being a certain weight, as opposed to the work hard and get fitter etc.

bebejones · 06/09/2010 10:09

JBells - Your poor DD, I can sympathise completely. My DD has cold after cold & has had 3 really nasty chest infections in her short little life. They gave her an inhaler before when her breathing was so bad but wouldn't formally diagnose asthma as she was too young. Now she is 2 we shall see what happens this winter. Dreading it! :(

Strawberry - well done on the 2lbs, I put on 1lb this week! Boooo!! Back on soup & ryvita for me this week!

Going to Holland & Barretts later to stock up on more supplements. I really am going to start rattling! :o

OP posts:
strawberrypie · 06/09/2010 10:01

Morning everyone! Thanks for the BBQ tips whywait and bebe!

2lb loss this week! Yey....6lb ish to get to my target

am at work so got to go, bye!

jbells · 06/09/2010 09:54

lol, yeah definately lets get them online u can tell my dp and i will tel your DH haha, the longest my DP has had DD on his own was 5 hours on my mums bday and he even had a moan about that, i was furious i do it all day everyday on my own, dont c how another dc would really change his life apart from maybe a lil financially and at wkends, but i always do bulk of work at wkends to.

oh dear sorry your DD has woken with cold, my DD has had 4 wks of chest infections they think she has asthma but cant diagnose this early :(

bebejones · 06/09/2010 07:59

JBells - I think the most DH has been with DD on his own is about 3 hours!! And he thinks it's hard work when there are 2 of us, moans about nappy changing & meal times & gets cross when she covers herself in food! Hmm If I want another one when I do it apretty much all day every day then that should be what counts the most. We can back each other up you and I!!! :o

Turns out DD has woken up with a cold, great! Just what I need, I must not catch it! Confused

jbells · 06/09/2010 07:32

morning all- just to comment on the watching birthing stories

in my last few wks of pregnancy i was obsessed with watching programmes on people giving birth dont know wether it made me feel better or worse lol, in the end mine was worse than the ones id seen anyway hehe, to be honest i still watch them now and again now makes me feel quite emotional as takes me back to day dd was born

bebe- wow didnt realise u had been waiting so long :( hopefully once u stop taking your meds the ball will start rolling :)

100years- how did you get on at weigh in today?

eglu- there are lots of people with bigger age gaps between there kids these days, u just have to go with wot suits u, im sure your mum will come round, my mums not keen on me wanting dc#2 says i shud wait longer itl be really hard work bla bla bla, but at the end of the day its me that will be looking afta them more or less full time, agree with bebe saying its my body who will be going thru it and i will be doing most the child care so shudnt my dp listen to when i want the 2nd child, especially considering he works most the time anyway, cant remember him ever really having DD on his own maybe once or twice Hmm

bebejones · 06/09/2010 07:07

I went there first too but then found the 'normal' one & that wouldn't work. Will try again today, although I think it looks pretty much the same as FF.

Really not sleeping properly at the moment. DD is suffering from night terrors & it's got me & DH on edge :( Feel wiped today & it's only just begun! Maybe I'll have to sneak a little nap this afternoon :o

AmandaCooper · 05/09/2010 22:00

Are you clicking on the beta test link Bebe? I was doing that at first and it kept crashing - but then I found another login link on the home page.

bebejones · 05/09/2010 21:41

TCOYF keeps crashing and wont let me register! Was looking at the pictures & saw one of a BFP which said they were using TCOYF to prevent pregnancy but were without internet & got their cycle messed up Confused Really not sure I would trust charting as a birth control method on its own. Confused But I guess for me it's a really big deal if I get PG by 'accident' so think I'll be sticking to the condoms!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 05/09/2010 21:32

Fertility Friend says this:

"The principles of chart interpretation for pregnancy avoidance and pregnancy achievement are significantly different and unfortunately not just the reverse of each other. Using any of FertilityFriend.com's chart interpretations in reverse will not work and will put you at risk to get pregnant. Avoiding pregnancy using fertility charting is a different approach altogether. If you plan to use fertility charting (or Fertility Awareness) to avoid pregnancy we recommend that you get in touch with a Natural Family Planing or Fertility Awareness counselor and get a specific training for that purpose."

Won't it be just the same for TCOYF? Confused

bebejones · 05/09/2010 21:20

Gonna go check out TCOYF online now! I must check the library for the book!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 05/09/2010 21:05

Nannyl I've copied all my charting data into TCOYF online, which is showing pretty much the same results as Fertility Friend. Not sure if I'm ready to rely on it for contraception yet!

Bebe I might have a look back myself and see who I recognise.

bebejones · 05/09/2010 20:54

AC - I knew it had been long but had no idea it had been over a year! :( I saw loads of names on there of people who were waiting. I'm fairly sure that alot of them are PG or have already had babies! So there is hope for us all!

100years - I'm not even sure I could watch or be at a birth & I've 'done it'!!

OP posts:
Eglu · 05/09/2010 20:51

Bebejones, yes and 8 year age gap. I know it doesn't suit everybody but I really like my big gap.

AC, yes my Mum had two. I know she will be fine once baby is on the way and when she has a lovely new dgc to cuddle.

100years · 05/09/2010 20:35

I must admit I do feel very lucky to have been there, privileged to have been asked to be there. I might watch a video and see if it's anything like what I saw and if I do I shall report back.

AmandaCooper · 05/09/2010 20:32

You're lucky to have witnessed a real birth, the video ones are obviously cut, you wouldn't watch continuously for 36 hours would you, so you don't know how it's been edited together - to look worse overall than it actually was, or to look better?

100years · 05/09/2010 20:28

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the welcomes.

Quite a few posts, so I hope I don't miss anyone out.

Jbells, thanks, well done on your loss so far, I know what the last few pounds are like, been there in the past!

Amanda, thanks for the welcome. Yeah in one way it's scary, in another way it's like the best thing that I could possibly do and do with my lovely man. Seen a couple of babies born and close for another couple of births as I was a birthing partner for someone and so no need to watch the videos. It's really really amazing what happens. And the best feeling in the world to have been there. :)

Thank you WhyWait, I'm looking forward to spending time chatting.

Nannyl I dream of getting a BFP and we aren't even trying!!! I'd quite like a baby who would start school in the higher age end of the year as opposed to being the youngest, don't know why, not backed up my reasoning with anything really!!! But that's not the reason we are waiting!

Anyway I've had a busy day and not on here for long. But I will be back. Weigh in day tomorrow, I'm counting down the pounds and weeks till we hopefully TTC!!! I have it planned out in my head LOL

AmandaCooper · 05/09/2010 20:11

Bebe we should have celebrated your anniversary! Echo nannyl: can't believe you've been waiting all this time - I take it you had already been waiting before you got to the point of wanting to join a thread about it as well! I wonder what's happened to everyone else. Wasn't legallyblonde on our thread originally? I remember her getting her bfp and she must not be far off having her baby by now. Along with countless others! I remember somebody getting a bfp just after I joined and me saying that when she was having her baby, I'd be just starting to try.

Eglu I suppose what your mum is saying is not that different from what you see people saying about having DC2 all the time on here, i.e. how will I possibly have enough love for them both etc. Presumably 2 is the number of children she herself had? I would have thought given the age gaps that it wouldn't be such a concern. Also what about all the additional time and attention they will give each other for the whole duration of their lives?!

Nannyl I read TCOYF after completing the Fertility Friend course and they are pretty much the same. I am going to check out the TCOYF website, if you can use their tracking method to prevent pregnancy then I'm definitely interested.

Just had my DM on the telephone, telling me some old schoolchum of my sister's is pregnant, and asking pointed questions about how DH had liked having my godson to visit. DM likes to think that she and I are engaged in some conspiracy to persuade DH to have a baby. From my point of view it's just me trying to persuade DH, and DM trying to persuade DH - but separately!

bebejones · 05/09/2010 20:09

Eglu - does that mean that DC1 & potential DC3 will have a 8 year age gap? Or have I completely got the wrong end of the stick? Agree that with 4 year gaps the children will require differnt amounts/styles of attention. It's not like having 3 under 3 is it?! I'm sure she'll come round!
