Hiya,

I put August as its a little late for July!

I'm TTC number 4(!)

Due to test on the 15th August but don't think we have much chance this month as its only our first and DH has been ill for a few days and now I've got the bug, so not much romance happening!

So just wonderded if anyone is just starting TTC and wanted to join me?

Hi there,

can I join in? Just gotten married last month, so DH and I are now off contraception and hoping for a baby, although financially we could do with this taking a wee while so we can clear off the horrendous credit card bill and get some cash behind us!!!

I was on the depo injection until the beginning of this year and then planned to use the pill for a six months but it didnt agree with us, so have been using nothing for a couple of months, however my period hasnt come on yet, am assuming that it's just my body getting itself sorted out, rather than a happy surprise!

I was quite honest about looking forward to having a child before the wedding, but I'm not going to tell many people now that we are actually getting down to business, although they are still asking!!!

Best of luck everyone!!!

petitech · 15/08/2010 12:19

Hi Penelope, I've told one friend, mainly because she's an expert at getting pregnant lol! Other than that I'm keeping quiet, I don't think I want the added pressure of people asking just yet!

Penelope1980 · 15/08/2010 09:22

Hello! I'm TTC for my first and have been off the pill for all of two weeks so am feeling very excited about this ttc business. I am curious though - do you tell people you're ttc, or keep it a secret? I am always curious what other people do. I've told my mum, but that's more so she stops asking than anything else.

Badgerwife · 14/08/2010 16:55

Just got back from a week and a half camping, I've been trying to learn about fertility but completely failed to take my temperature every morning - try having 4 hours of straight sleep whilst camping on a slope!

Anyway, I only got off the pill 2.5 weeks ago, so I doubt my cycle has come back to normal and I can only guess when I'm likely to ovulate, probably now... I used to be pretty regular, so who knows.

petitech · 14/08/2010 13:39

How's everyone's month going?! I used ovulation calculator to try and figure and bought some ovulation dates but don't seem to be registering as ovulating despite the fact that now on CD17 - I'd understand that you should ovulate around day 15-16?!? I know everyone is different, maybe I have my cycle length wrong - could be periods settling down post pill. Any clues anyone?!

stottiecake · 12/08/2010 22:15

hello Smile
may I join you? have just plucked up the courage to ask dh if we can start ttc this month. We have a ds who is 20 mo and completely wonderful and we adore but it was all a bit of a shock - from the birth to the 'now'!!! So was expecting dh to be a bit reluctant but he has agreed to it - WHOOPEE!!

I am almost 37 and expecting it to take a bit longer this time - have conceived 1st time on 2 previous occasions. My first pregnancy sadly ended in mc 6 years ago.

So here we are! I am still bfing but am having regular periods and have noted some signs of ovulation in previous months. My plan is to start ttc on the 18th and then sex every other day after.

ooh!

I hope it all still works!!

I hope you get some exciting news tomorrow cowboy

cowboylover · 12/08/2010 17:57

Oh god its all so confusing!

I get lost with the whens for what but im useless with that sort of thing so I might have to get a chart or iphone app or something.

Im saying going to be starting this month but stil 2 weeks late on my last AF with no BFP so off to see the nurse tomorrow so will let you know how I get on x

lizandlulu · 11/08/2010 22:00

hiya purplehippo, i was the same as you, kept wanting to put it off for the same reasons, but in the end just did it, if you keep making excuses you will never do it!

i did another oluvation test today, seeing as my period is due next week, but it was still negative. but then my cycle has always been all over the place so maybe this month i might be later, aaarrrgggghhhhh

purplehippopotamus · 10/08/2010 19:24

hello, can I join you? My DH has been badgering me about TTC for our first and after dithering and finding reasons to wait (career, want to lose weight, get finances sorted etc) I've finally decided we should get started. Now scared though, and starting to get obsessive already - I'm very impatient and want it now!!

Good luck to everyone TTC - look forward to sharing the 2WW!

cowboylover · 10/08/2010 17:53

Yes it is hard to keep track!

I know what you mean about wanting it all now, I think its my life to expect things there and then; Im a BlackBerry girl and I expect everything in my life to fun like it, everything I need, when I need it and immediatly!

I hope we are celebrating together soon x

petitech · 09/08/2010 21:35

Oh well good to see we have company at least :-) I will try and stick on this thread, I agree with what someone else said about losing track of threads when others have been chatting a while. Good luck everyone, be good to hear how every1 gets on!x

lizandlulu · 09/08/2010 21:26

think thats the longest post i have ever wrote!!

lizandlulu · 09/08/2010 21:26

hiya, can i join you please, i joined another thread but it was that big that i didnt come on for a few days and got swamped with all thew other posts!

we have 1 dd whos 5 in oct, also starting school in sept, i am very very happy about it, just to give me abit of a break! really cant wait for it, also think it will do her good as she is very clingy and a total mummys girl.

annnnyyywwaaayyy, we decided about 4 weeks ago to ttc for no.2. am already feeling very nervous about coping with 2 as dd was a very difficult baby, (well difficult first 3 years)

i am only just starting to understand about cycles, my cycle isnt regular at all which makes it hard for me to judge when i am ovulatig, i bought some ovulation tests but am starting to get a little obsessed with doing it.

for the last 2 months my AF came every 3 weeks, i am now 2 weeks into my next cycle and so would have thought i would be ovulating by now? but dont seem to have any of the egg white stuff everyone goes on aboutBlush Grin

it feels like forever since we started trying and was really disappointed when AF came 2 weeks ago, even though i know its unreasonable of me to expect to get pg in such a short time.

i came off the pill nearly 2 years ago as we was supposed to start trying then, but circumstances stopped us, (plus i bottled out at the tohught of another)! with dd it took 6 months to ttc so hopefully it wont take so long this time

well i think i have rambled on for long enoughSmile

Ilovemarmite79 · 09/08/2010 21:23

IT's awful isn't it. We're so used to just getting things immediately - joys of credit cards and next day delivery but this is outt of our control and even when we are successful there is another 9 months to wait! Grin

cowboylover · 09/08/2010 21:19

Oh im with you there marmite!

I work away regularly through the week and DH is a shift worker so away on nights and weekends sometimes so I looked at the chart and I think I have only about 2 possible weekends without a timetable clash somethere!

Oh well we can stick together as I think im going to need my hand held alot.

Ilovemarmite79 · 09/08/2010 20:59

I have the problem that OH works away in the week (hopefully not for too long) and with my cycle as it is it appears that I am always going to be most fertile during the week. Wonder how long sperm will survive in a turkey baster? hmm :)

petitech · 09/08/2010 20:47

Ilovemarmite79 - similar position and dates, you seem to have the acronyms down to a fine art, I haven't got a clue!!! You do start getting paranoid though and spotting imaginary sypmptoms haha!
Good luck!

cowboylover · 09/08/2010 20:46

Hiya all,

After being a ditherer and then thinking I was and feelling totally crushed we have decided that this month is the month that we will start.

Marmite:
AF = Period
Day one is the first day of bleeding of your period
I think the recommendations are sex 5 days before and 3 days after ovulation but there is some great advise on here on the trying to concieve section.

Ilovemarmite79 · 09/08/2010 20:28

I am new on here and TTC number one. I am thoroughly confused with all the ovulation/conception stuff and all the acronym involved. Can anyone help me? I've tried several ovulation calendars but had different results. My last period (AF???) started on July 23rd ( so that is day 1?) I have a 28 day cycle so think that means I ovulated on the 6th (day 15)?. We DTD on day 10, 15, 17
Am I right? Do I need to have sex before, on or immediately after ovulation? Might I be pregnant? (I know it's unlikely)

BowBaby · 09/08/2010 19:15

Hello,

I'm new to Mumsnet too... TTC (for my first) since yesterday and have just come off my pill. I'm a little scared and this all seems a bit surreal...
I know this means a complete change of lifestyle and Im looking forward to it...
3rd day ciggie free now! Would love to talk to other mumsnetters about my experiences as Im keeping this one close to my chest for now...

Good luck to you all and fingers crossed!

petitech · 09/08/2010 19:00

Hello :-) I'd like to join please, just started kind of last month / this month. Lots of posts on this site making me smile. Haven't told anyone in family or friends trying as don't want the added pressure so nice to have people to "talk" to on here :-) How's everyone doing? Btw TTC#1 :D

chocolateme · 29/07/2010 11:54

get yourself some ovulation sticks off babymad, worked a treat for me first time round!!....ive got them again this time too!!
Esk my mum had a quick birth with me & I had a relatively quick birth with my DD, got to hosp @ 5pm 9cm dialated & she was born @7.45pm, though I dont really know if there is a proper medical link between the two.

Badgerwife · 29/07/2010 11:46

Me too!

I've just come off the pill and want to try for baby No 1. DH is under the impression that I'm going to fall pregnant within the first month, which I thought was very optimistic of him but you never know...

So I've just joined Mumsnet after all the good things I've heard about it, and hope to receive much mummy wisdom in the months to come. Fingers crossed!

Eskarina · 29/07/2010 11:06

I know it must be OK really as millions of people do it. It doesn't help that my two closest friends have had hugely long births with lots of traumatic intervention and post-birth complications. But then they've both gone on to have second pregnancies so they must have gotten over it! Is easy/difficult birthing genetic?? My mum claims that I was born in about 1 1/2 hours - painful but quick. Beats the 56 hour marathons I keep hearing about.

chocolateme · 29/07/2010 10:53

Toto think ill be toe one in floods of tears @ the school gate & not my DD!!
Esk just dont think about the birth, its gonna come out one way or the other so just dont think about it, that was my philosophy for the first one & it was okish, not the most pleasant thing in the world but you really do forget about it after!
