Hiya,

I put August as its a little late for July!

I'm TTC number 4(!)

Due to test on the 15th August but don't think we have much chance this month as its only our first and DH has been ill for a few days and now I've got the bug, so not much romance happening!

So just wonderded if anyone is just starting TTC and wanted to join me?

i use a princess disposable party cup to catch mineGrin

MummyAbroad · 26/08/2010 01:37

hello gruffalomama
if you start testing anything like the amount I do, you get pretty expert at the wee in the cup thing. Reckon I could get it in from 40 paces now! Smile

GruffaloMama · 25/08/2010 22:35

hello - can I join please. Sorry Badger that it didn't work out this month. Hope when you do get a BFP that you've had all your nausea now and don't get any for the whole 40 weeks.

We just started trying this month for DC2. DS is 23 mo. Have PCOS so it took about 14mo to fall preg the first time. Really trying not to obsess but feeling elderly (35...). Still, my cycle is much more stable now so think I might be ovulating now-ish. But I'm probably just obsessing about those symptoms instead of the pregnancy ones...

BTW thanks for the tip offs about the preg tests. genius. but worried at how much I'll end up weeing on myself. can't be a good thing! Grin

petitech · 25/08/2010 19:04

That's a great tip MummyAbroad, thanks! I think I'm on 13dpo, still BFN and AF due tomorrow... I think I am getting pre AF cramps and feeling decidely grumpy today although think that might just be because I got another negative. Decided to focus on having a healthy few weeks in prep for my holiday in Spain and not worrying about dates and things...Holding out a tiny tiny tiny glimmer of hope that I might have my cycle dates wrong and therefore just testing too early! Having a cheeky glass of wine tonight anyway and if it is BFN off camping this weekend so weekend full of BBQ and guilt-free beer! Take Care everyone, thanks for being there, makes me feel better to read every1s comments!

angeltoast · 25/08/2010 18:11

Hi ladies

I love this thread, it has made me feel SO much better about secretly obsessing!!

MummyAbroad - thanks for the research! So far I have only tested once (no doubt this will change Wink) and used pricey clearblue digital test.....think bulkbuying will make me feel less guilty about using tests early, even if it does drive me slightly mad in the meantime!

To all of you who were BFN or got AF, good luck with the next cycle girls, let's keep everything crossed that it goes well for us all!! Grin

MummyAbroad · 25/08/2010 13:29

Morning (well, it is in my time zone!)

re: preg test prices

I should clarify that I bought from Amazon.com (American site) as I live in Costa Rica. Just had a look for you all on Amazon.co.uk (lots of time on my hands !)

and you can get:
15 for £2.80
25 for £4.48
50 for £7.79 (can you imagine? you will be doing one an hour for that price!)

right now I am buying ovulation predictor kits which come in packs of 40 with 10 preg tests included.

Hope I am not responsible for turning you all into test crazed animals like me!

Sorry about your news Badgerwife, focus on the relief of not having morning sickness and being able to have a glass of wine when you like!

I am 14dpo, still BFN, getting crazier every day Confused

Badgerwife · 25/08/2010 11:41

Boo hiss, my period came on today.

I can't believe how awfully sick I've felt for the last 2 weeks! It must have been my hormones going on overdrive after being set free at last. If it's a hint of what it's like to have "morning" sickness, I am worried.

I like the idea of 40 tests for a fiver, but how is it possible? Are they being done by little kids in China?

BabsH · 25/08/2010 06:40

Morning,

Wow, MA, that is a great price - forty tests? I thought I was doing okay with Boots own brand tests price!

I agree with the waiting, have been driving my DH up the wall talking about babies and families, have been given a stern talk about not getting too dissappointed, but I have a cunning plan, well, a little bit cunning anyway! If we dont have any baby luck by this time next year will get another dog for me to lavish love and affection on, granted not as good as a baby, but gives us something to look forward to :o

Hope everyone has a good day

MummyAbroad · 25/08/2010 02:18

Hello again,

I have been absent for a while (hardly ever come out of the bathroom these days as I have become so obsessed with testing Smile)

Just to resurrect an earlier conversation, about test prices; am I the only one who buys 40 for £5.50 on Amazon?

BTW if you didnt know about that and are now considering buying them, please note that at this price there will be no limits to your crazy early testing and you will end up as obsessed as I am!

13 days past ovulation and still BFN and no AF Aarrrghhh!

goldmaple · 25/08/2010 01:28

Hi everyone!

This is the 1st month TTC#1, but I've been off the pill for 6 months! (just biding my time...:)) Very excited!

I think that my 'relaxed' approached is also getting out of hand as I now have iperiod on my phone! Have only mentioned TTC to my mum, so it will be really nice to talk with people going through the same thing!

petitech · 24/08/2010 19:02

Hows is everyone doing on waiting...and waiting...and waiting...these 2 weeks seem long... I did a test early on but surprise surprise was BFN...AF due to arrive on Thurs and now I'm getting paranoid that I can feel usual stomach cramp symptoms etc so sure it will contine to be BFN... keep holding onto last grains of hope that might just be that I tested too early! Even invested in some digital tests (STUPIDLY!) on basis that they might give me a favourable answer! So hard isn't it! Mayeb we need to start thinking of things to do to distract us from getting obsessive!

lizandlulu · 24/08/2010 15:41

i thought that 2 badgerwife, but there is a test you can buy and use a few days before isnt there? probably be about a tenner tho!

MadKatz · 24/08/2010 13:23

OK, thanks for that Badgerwife. Was hoping it was going to be sooner than that - I still have another 11 days before I am due my period Hmm

Badgerwife · 24/08/2010 13:02

I thought the best time to test is after the date of you are due your period.

MadKatz · 24/08/2010 10:49

Morning everyone,

Can any of you tell me when is the best time to test? I think I ovulated on the 16th or 17th. Not really feeling anything out of the ordinary apart from really tired. Have been very tempted to test before now but I know it would have been too early, so have held off.

Would be really nice if it happened 1st month of trying, but not convinved either way at the mo.

BabsH · 24/08/2010 07:07

Morning ladies,

sorry to hear that some of you got your periods, hopefully there will be a BFP soon :)

I know exactly how frustrating it is when you are trying to get pregnant and you keep seeing pregnant people all over the place, but am sure that it will be our turn soon :O

Have a grand day all

bobbetybob · 23/08/2010 22:53

Hi everyone - been away since last post. Period arrived at weekend, 6 days late with no notice whatsoever!!! I was far more disappointed than I thought I would be. Hey ho! Onwards and upwards. Hope everyone is well. x

lizandlulu · 23/08/2010 22:29

god its so frustrating isnt it, the waiting and not knowing, and its so complicated understanding all this cycle stuff, i still dont know what half of it means. it seems everyone around me is getting pregnant, 2 lads wives at work are pregnant and going for scans etcSad

Badgerwife · 23/08/2010 21:36

Well InTheSunshine, that's the £5000 question! It's been 26 days since my final withdrawal bleed from the pill. My time before the pill is lost in the annals of history, so I am very much playing it by ear but I recall it being fairly regular and uneventful. I guess if I carry on feeling sick and not having a period in a week I'll test again. I never expected this much drama!

InTheSunshine · 23/08/2010 20:56

Hey ladies - been away but nice to see there are a few of us on here! Makes me feel better to know there are people like me!! Badgerwife when is your period due??

Badgerwife · 23/08/2010 18:39

I almost wish, I need answers!

lizandlulu · 23/08/2010 13:59

Sad for you badgerwife, dodgy takeaway?Grin

NervousNelly · 23/08/2010 13:39

Folicacid I'm in exactly the same boat (or nearly). Came off pill a year ago but not because I was TTC but because I was a moody cow! Anyway apart from a few drunken slip-ups, we've been using condoms. I've now persuaded my other half that we should "just see what happens" which started officially this month. My plan is to make absolutely no mention of ovulation, fertility, luteal phases, POAS, etc etc as he will probably freak out, even though he is on board with the TTC! So I downloaded an iphone app called Period Tracker that I'm going to quietly use to keep a record of dates and things. The beauty of this is no scary medical looking things hanging around the house :)

He does know I'm taking folic acid and understands the logic of that, but that's about it at the moment! So I'm sharing my concerns/traumas/excitement to random strangers via Mumsnet, and for his benefit seeming very carefree about the whole thing!

So far I've even managed to resist the tempation to be buy pg tests. I know that once they are in the house, that's it for my calm and collected persona Wink.

Good luck!!

Folicacid · 23/08/2010 13:03

I'd like to join please...

First month of TTC but off pill since May. Not really trying in the sense of charting temp, but more relaxed ( ha) in that I feel I know the signs of ovulation now and have checked dates online for fertile period.

I'm not going to force the issue of sex every second day in this period though. I'd like to I think but don't want to scare partner. he;d prefer it to be more relaxed, wheras I would like to be pregannt NOW!

Badgerwife · 23/08/2010 12:53

After all those horrible symptoms, I tested negative this morning. Which would be fine (I really wasn't expeting instant success)if it wasn't for how uncomfortably nauseous I still feel. It does make the symptoms feel a bit more sinister. Or maybe it's still too early.
