Hiya,

I put August as its a little late for July!

I'm TTC number 4(!)

Due to test on the 15th August but don't think we have much chance this month as its only our first and DH has been ill for a few days and now I've got the bug, so not much romance happening!

So just wonderded if anyone is just starting TTC and wanted to join me?

Yes MadKatz where are you? Hope everything is going OK your end :)

Glad you told someone Iwish, at least you can trust them too :)

Went out last night with DH and a friend that has come for a few days (male). Was so funny watching them both get drunk last night. DH almost fell off his stool in the pub. Ended in DH being sick when got home, as I asked him to put the bin bags out and the smell obv didn't go down to well, and our friend fell asleep on the way home in the car, and came in at 9:05 this morning!!! Made me grateful I am preggars otherwise I prob would have been in a right state too as I always drink when he comes to stay, and for someone that doesn't drink a lot, I would have been VERY ill!

New thread has been set up here

See you all over there :)

Iwish · 16/02/2011 18:58

Thanks Liz I hope I feel better soon too lol.
Good news about your nuchal and bet you were thrilled to hear the HB. Hope you like your new computer too.

klou that's a fab name for the new thread. I caved tonight and told 1 person at work because she is bound to notice my constant eating soon since I'm usually v good. I know she won't say anything and she was thrilled :)

madkatz how are you? Not heard from you for a while.

gruffalo hope you are ok?

Wanted to stay in bed this morning, was not pleased when the alarm went off lol.

lizandlulu · 16/02/2011 14:12

ohh thats a good title! in here or pregnancy? or antenatal clubs?

klou no DH wasnt with me, just dd being a pain in the arseGrin he racons he isnt coming to any more appointments with me till i finally pop. he is so kind and considerateHmm

KLou111 · 16/02/2011 11:03

Oh Liz that's fantastic!!! Great news on both counts. Bet it was lovely and reassuring to hear the little ones heart beat. Was your DH with you? Grin

Iwish I'm not 100% how that conversation started with my mum, I think I was talking about OBEM, and just kind of went from there :) Glad you're being able to keep everything to yourself, it's bloody so difficult isn't it? I remember when we went out NYE with about 15 of our friends, and I was dying to say something, but didn't. I bet you can't wait! When are you going to tell them?

I think we're going to need a new page soon ladies as this one is nearly full. Any ideas on a title?
I thought 'Started TTC in August 2010, we're now all finally up the duff' or something like that :)

lizandlulu · 15/02/2011 20:59

nope i cant watch it, it keeps stopping, bugger bugger bugger.

i went to see the midwife and she listened to the heartbeat! it took her a few miniutes to find it, but it was lovelyGrin not alot else, just asked a few questions about what happened when i went for a scan and thats about it.

i have had the resuls back from the nuchal translucency fold (?) test and its very low, 1 in 45thousand! which is good.

lizandlulu · 15/02/2011 20:42

bear with it iwish hopefellu you will feel better soon.

i am going to see if i can watch one being born every minuite on that 4od, although on my laptop it migth be abit slow. we are getting a proper computer tomorrow yey!!!!!

Iwish · 15/02/2011 18:10

I've tried all sorts of biscuits liz but ginger made me feel slightly better lol. Tried ice cubes too and I felt ok but then they started to taste funny and now can't even think about sucking them again!

OMFG klou how on earth did that conversation start! Actually giggled to myself reading that.

I love OBEM and I'm not put off yet, think I will get freaked out nearer the time. :). DP used to say 'what we watching this for' but now he watches it and quietly smiles bless him. Then he comes out with 'feel sorry for you love'. Charmin!!

Oh and I nearly caved and told my colleage at work today. Felt so sick I'm sure I went green so wanted to tell someone but managed to keep quiet.

lizandlulu · 15/02/2011 12:34

Grin klou when i was pg with dd i bought sweet almond oil to massage down there to stop it from tearing, but never got round to it and i didnt tear anyway. (no i have not got a bucket crotch!)

KLou111 · 15/02/2011 12:03

It should be on 4OD if you haven't recorded it Liz

KLou111 · 15/02/2011 12:01

Hope everything goes OK today Liz. Not looking forward to the whole heartburn thing TBH, out of everything, I think I am dreading that the most (bar the labour!!)

I had to go the the hosp to get my bloods too Iwish, it was a Friday that the MW booked me, and she wasn't going back towards the hosp so I had to go and get them done when I had my 12w scan. I didn't think the heart was heard til around 13wks?

Watched OBEM, so OTT :) (lol, probably tame compared to me!!)
I didn't think it looked too bad last week, but this week has totally put me off!! I just kept thinking about the baby at the end though.

My mum told me the other day (sorry if TMI) that I should start putting vasaline on the inside of my 'hole' and in between there and my bum hole, as will make it soft for birth. Didn't think I would ever have THAT conversation with my mum! Blush

lizandlulu · 15/02/2011 10:22

ah i missed it last night, proper gutted, i must have been watching some crap and totally forgot about it. think i have got it recorded tho on the sky. bloody better have!

is there nothing else you fancy rather than ginger biscuits?

Iwish · 14/02/2011 21:18

I'm not sure. As far as I can tell it's still a midwife I'm seeing at this appt. I have to go to my docs for some appts too. Maybe its because of my thyroid.

Flippin eck 16 weeks, that's gone fast!

I'm watching one born every minute. Is it wierd that I'm not freaked out lol.

I AM SICK OF GINGER BISCUITS!

lizandlulu · 14/02/2011 20:53

i dont really know but i doubt it. might be too early for them to find it and cause you unnecessary worry.

i can have gaviscon, not got none but its not too bad yet. i am seeing the midwife tomorrow for 16 week routine appointment so have got to get her to sign the maternity exemption form so i can get it for nowtGrin i really begrudge paying for it if i can get it for free. i wont be getting owt else.

how come you have got to go to the hospital for bloods? is that normal round your way?

Iwish · 14/02/2011 20:35

Oooh poor you liz. Can you take anything for it or is nothing safe?

I've just got an appt through for the hospital, it's not a scan looks like it's bloods etc. I'll be 10+4 so do you think they will listen to the heartbeat?

lizandlulu · 14/02/2011 20:09

thought i would let you all know i have getting my first bouts of heartburn to add to the list.

great

lizandlulu · 13/02/2011 19:43

thanks klou

most of the women round here go to nottingham to give birth which is further away than lincoln. it is a bigger hospital but still only have one pool and seeing as more women go there there is less chance of it being free. plus i had dd at lincoln and it was fine. the car park is small and you can never get a space in the maternity unit so you have to park in the main area about 10 mins walk away but thats neither here nor there really.

you have more chance of having a private room at nottingham too, but unless i have any problems, i will be out after a few hours anyway. nottingham also has a kind of 'hotel' connected for partners to use, but my midwife says that half the time its not open. any hint of low staff and they close it, so it would be just my luckGrin

so lincoln it is and i am really preparing myself for the birth. already yes i knowGrin

KLou111 · 13/02/2011 18:10

Yay on feeling proper movement too Grin

KLou111 · 13/02/2011 18:08

Ah liz, Crystal is a beautiful name, you don't hear it a lot, which makes it even more lovely :) Hmmmm with the pink part Wink
Nice that you have a meaning to your boys name too, Christopher Thomas is lovely, and it will make it even more special.

The John middle name bit for mine is also after my Dad and DH Dad, as it's both their middle names. The Jayne part was my late nan's name without the 'y' though.

I'm not too sure about the home birth TBH, I just think if the hospital is full at the time, it may be an option. They have a birthing pool which is not too popular, so I'd do that if it was free. I have asked about how many ladies are due around my date, and apparently there are not that many that they know of, so fingers crossed, all will be fine and I'll get a room.

lizandlulu · 13/02/2011 17:05

hiya all, i am glad you are all well, iwish i hope you feel better soon though, its horrible to start with, fingers crossed it eases off for you. someone said on another thread that wine gums really helped them, worht a try if you can stomach them.

wow klou you sound so brave considering a home birth with your first, i am going to tyr to have a water birth if the pool is free when its time, there is only one in the hospital though.

my hospital is 20 miles awaySad i live in newark which is a massive town but it has no maternity unit! its madness

and i felt it move yesterday, but a proper move, not a fluttering or squirming. not felt it since thoughSad

my boys name is christopher thomas (christopher after dh and thomas after my dad) thats a definate name, wont change my mind, but i cant decided on a girls name. i love crystal but no one else likes it. especially when i was it to be crystal pink! mum had nicknamed it 'felt tip' beacuse 'if you are going to call it crystal its not even a name and you may as well call it toaster or felt tip'!

KLou111 · 13/02/2011 16:43

That's good then, it's crap they are closing a load though isn't it? Wow, 6+2 already!! Lol to keeping your gob shut, I bet you're ready to burst!!
I know over a third, scary!

Anyone thinking of names? Can't remember if we've had this convo :)
Thinking of Ava Jayne (fave) of Isla Jayne for girl, Iwan John for boy. Although, have just seen the Welsh name Osian (Osh-an) for a boy, and love it! :) We're not Welsh, but we live here so would be nice to have a Welsh name :)

Iwish · 13/02/2011 15:27

I'm 6+2 klou. Can't believe I found out just over 2 weeks ago and have kept my gob shut lol! I'm not sure I fancy a home birth for my first, maybe for our second. Your conservatory sounds ok, covered in of course :). Luckily there is another hospital not so far away but that one shuts next year too. It makes me really mad!
Bet it feels nice being able to feel him/her moving. I can't believe your over a 3rd of the way through now either! Xx

KLou111 · 13/02/2011 15:13

Well that's a bit of a pain in the arse Iwish! How many weeks are you now then (sorry, can't be bothered to work it out ha ha :) )
Would you consider a home birth?
They try and get you do do it here as they only have 4 beds in our maternity unit, then our nearest is 35 mins away after that. Considering a water birth. We've just had a massive conservatory built, so may consider a birthing pool in there (with a lot of sheets over the windows!!) but still not 100% whether I want my first at home TBH.
All is well here ta, felt baby again last night :)

Iwish · 13/02/2011 11:53

Thanks gruffalo wierd that we think sickness is reassuring lol. Alcohol doesn't bother me, only used to drink if I went on a night out or Christmas! So not v often lol.

klou I might try Ginger biscuits, going shopping today so I'm sure I'll come back with a few packets of them as I actually really like them :)
I saw my midwife on Wednesday and she gave me my due date of 7th October and gave me my pg notes as well as all the magazines etc. Hoping my scan date will come through soon. Bit miffed though because they are closing the maternity unit at my local hospital. Stupid government so I will have to go somewhere else.
How are you feeling?

KLou111 · 13/02/2011 11:18

Nice to hear from you Iwish, wondered where you'd gone! Sorry you're not feeling too good, I found ginger nut biscuits were great for the sicky feeling. But was a pain when I was stuck in that don't want to eat, but if I don't eat I'll feel worse scenario. Hoping it won't last too long for you. Any scan/MW booking dates?

Will have a look for that cider Gruffalo. I like the usual stowford, so looks good. I don't usually drink much at all as I don't mind driving instead, but like Liz said, you always want what you can't have! Not big into sweet things either (with a haribo exception!), had an alco free Kopparberg at a friends house, and was really sweet.

GruffaloMama · 13/02/2011 08:44

Hi iwish - glad to hear from you. The sickness is grim but you're right - in a freaky way it reassuring.

Klou I have found some nice low alcohol cider (0.5%). It actually tastes of cider. link here It's by Westons - I got it from Ocado but I bet other shops have it too. I dreamt last night that I had a G&T - normally not bothered by drinking - especially when preg as my tastebuds do that metallic thing - but it was a LOVELY dream...
