What do you think??

Was ridiculous 'million words challenge' in my kids' school recently. I ensured dd had best entry by including all my MSc reading.

eg 'Verbal Behaviour' 300 000 words

Marina · 30/07/2008 15:28

Of course she hasn't cod
I don't think moondog is target demographic somehow, do you?

God I hate ridiculous vogue for turning normal activities into 'challenges'

Nafferoony.

Fimbo · 30/07/2008 15:25

We are doing it here.

The certificates are given out in school.

I don't know, batters, let's ask malory to tell us all about it shall we?
I am sure some examples of public servants in awful polyester clothes can be found for everyone's entertainment. They're obviously contemptible individuals - you can tell that by how they spend their days, helping people and devising schemes like the Team Read and the Carnegie Medal.

What's with the winning and all that? I thought it was just an individual thing. Is it supposed to be done in groups or something?

No, nothing happening at DD's school regarding it. She jut gets them from the library itself.

We have two books and I was feeling smug, but then I realised we are going away this weekend and back 18 Aug so the pressure will be on!

ShallowWaterFish · 30/07/2008 13:37

right ds3 is ONE book donw

Marina · 30/07/2008 12:07

We are cod!
Dd is keener than ds - we are talking Spot the Dog stuff for her of course
Agree with you fish, the books are around, the offspring are willing, it is reminding ds to be a bit structured about it rather than just endlessly re-reading favourite chapters from Artemis sodding Fowl

Hulababy · 30/07/2008 12:03

Well, we managed to get to the library today so DD now proudly has her bronze stickers, and has another two Team read books to start on.

OldGregg · 29/07/2008 21:59

My DCs love this - they did the Big Wild Read last year and loved getting their certificates presented at school.

They've read first 2 books and we got a whole heap of new books out yesterday. The trick is to rent a DVD for them because then you HAVE to go back the following week or you get a huge fine and wish you'd bought the damned film at Woolies in the first place!

ShallowWaterFish · 29/07/2008 21:57

oh we haev loads of books aroudn to read
its just gettign it done

Thanks for the reminder!
We love it. We are quite keen. And a bit earnest.
