Hello,

We have lots of books but I'm always on the hunt for new ones 😊

What are your book recommendations for 4 to 5 year olds.....?

I picked up one the other day , "all through the night ", I thought it was lovely and my DC love it!

What are yours?

Book 4+ in which there are many interesting tales. The book teaches friendship, kindness... 25 stories for young children

I think you're best going to the charity shop or library, getting a big haul of books and seeing what they like.

We love ones by Anna Kemp/Sara Ogilvie like the Worst Princess, Dogs don't do Ballet

Anything by Babette Cole or Shirley Hughes or Maurice Sendak

My kids love the Jonny Duddle Pirate ones as well

My Big Shouting Day is the absolute favourite in our house. So funny and relatable for the child and the adult!

PritiPatelsMaker · 25/03/2023 16:22

Dogs don't do Ballet and Funny Bones were both very popular with my DC.

The Stars Are Playing Football, great illustrations and an easy, fun read, esp. if you like football -but even if you don't!

I absolutely wouldn’t read Matilda to my 4 year old! There’s plenty of time for chapter books when they’re older.

Space Tortoise by Ross Montgomery
Sophie Johnson by Morag Hood
Penguin by Polly Dunbar

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 17/03/2023 18:44

Recently discovered "Billy and the..." series and my four year old boy loves them. Billy and the Dragon is probably his favourite right now.

SuperGinger · 17/03/2023 17:47

Claude by Alex T Smith. If they aren't yet reading, The book with No pictures. The dark. Mathilda by Roald Dahl.

I've just been having a clear out and have four crates of books, it has brought back so many memories.

FisherThem · 17/03/2023 17:37

The Sophie books by Dick Kung-Smith

endgame67 · 17/03/2023 17:19

Anything by Jon Klassen (especially the hat series) or Mo Willems (really love Knuffle Bunny and the Elephant and piggie series)

Jeannieofthelamp · 16/03/2023 12:47

Bartholomew and the Morning Monsters
Grandmas House of Rules
The Runaway Dinner (an unjustly lesser know Allan Ahlberg)

Jeez-o give it a rest - stop spamming every children's book thread with a link to your book.
