What is the best children's book of all time? Any reason why?

Oooh the secret necklace by Enid Blyton. The mystery and the excitement of solving the puzzle is still with me to this day. I can't wait to read it to DD.

The faraway tree by Enid blyton.
The original story written around 1940. Not the adaptation version
First read age 8/9, fell in love, as I drifted away into a fantasy land with each chapter.
I still have my book, in my bedside draw next to me.

Mrs Frisbee and the Rats of Nimh.

It was my first ever experience of having read a book, then watching the film adaptation (and being disappointed as the book was so much better).

The Little White Horse because of Maria's bedroom and the animals, Loveday Minette and Miss Heliotrope. And Marmaduke Scarlett. And geraniums and bees. Embroidered waistcoats. The details might be iffy 55 years on but the images are still with me. Sugared almonds.

Mine are slightly older. I LOVED the famous five and I can still remember how I felt reading them
