She has read and LOVED nearly everything by Linda Chapman, Amelia Cobb, Dotty Detective and Rescue Princesses.

She has read Harry Potter 1-5, which she liked.

She has hugely enjoyed reading the How to train your Dragon series but doesn't like anything by David Walliams, Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton or the the Worst Witch series Hmm.

I think she likes stories with adventurous female characters who rescue things Grin She's is a strong and keen reader.

Please help!

The Kitty books may be for slightly younger readers. You can read a sample chapter of the Kitty books on the Oxford Owl website cdn.oxfordowl.co.uk/2019/09/11/09/24/33/5809d3b8-92ae-472d-ae6c-6a8514c82d33/Kitty_FreeChapter.pdf

Has she tried the Chrestomanci series? She might be a little young for Tamora Pierce (more like 10+ I would think) for strong adventurous female leads.

Sounds similar taste to my DD. The Scarlett and Ivy series and Robin Stevens' murder series has gone down well.

A Piglet called truffle looks lovely too. She's read some of the Lucy Daniels but is not hugely into them.

Trapdoor Mysteries and Violet and the Pearl of the Orient look great, thanks. The Kitty books also look good but are they for slightly younger dc?

Along the same lines as Linda Chapman and Amelia Cobb, has she read the Secret Mermaid series by Sue Mongredien or the Silverlake Fairy School series by Elizabeth Lindsay. There are also a large number of Lucy Daniels animal rescue books ‘donkey on the doorstep’ etc. Oooo also that reminds me there is a series by Helen Peters, ‘A Piglet called truffle’ etc which my daughter also enjoyed.

My daughter also likes a strong adventurous female lead - but, in contrast to yours, loves Enid Blyton and in that vein has progressed into similar but contemporary writers like Helen Moss (Adventure Island series) and Lauren St John (Laura Marlin series). I know she would thoroughly recommend both of these.

Violet and the Pearl of the Orient. There is a series of them (all are violet and...), it’s girl who goes on adventures and plays detective.

The Abbie Longstaff Trapdoor Mysteries, Pippi Longstocking, Secret Garden, Alice in Wonderland, 5 Children and It, The Kitty books by Paula Harrison
