No, that was Joan Aiken. Who is utterly marvellous.

Fennel · 24/09/2007 20:28

Most overrated book by primary school teachers: The silver sword. We read it 4 times at primary school in different classes. Honestly. It might be an OK book but I got very very sick of it.

I haven't read any Alan Garner. Did he write The Wolves of Willoughby Chase too?

NotAnOtter · 24/09/2007 20:24

WORST evr books ALL Alan Garner and Watership Down

NotAnOtter · 24/09/2007 20:16

nell - we have "The mole who knew it was none of his business" The DSes, needless to say love it!

Mine would be
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Secret Garden
The Dancing Bear - Michael Morpugo
Where's Spot loved reading it to DS1
and one called
"The Very Noisy Night" about little mouse and big mouse and little mouse keeps hearing noises and waking up big mouse. I love it and used to read it to the DSes even if they didn't want it. Can't rember who wrote it though
I'm sure I'll think of more though
