Struggling to find what's next. He's read some of the Percy Jackson stuff but runs out of steam not far into them. He doesn't like the bear Grylls books, the itch books, the Alex rider books. Has read all wimpy kid. Doesn't like David walliams. Tried him on Phillip Pullman but also no. Has read maze runner but not massively keen. I'm struggling! Please hit me with.suggestions

Underlander series by Suzanne Collins

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 05/08/2019 21:02

I'm late to the party but popped in to say Eragon. There's 3 or 4 books in the series, quite like Lord of the rings in that the characters are on a quest. I'm trying to convince my 12 year old to read them! Also agree with Divergent trilogy.

Cherub series by Robert Muchamore

EmCamB · 22/07/2019 08:26

Check out Sean Yeager Adventures - they are in print, on ebook and kindle free. Quite unlike any other series and written for reluctant readers.

Maze Runner series
Mortal Engines

DailyMailcanfuckthefuckoff · 20/07/2019 22:30

Coming on to repeat the Garth Nix recommendation! My favourite is the Abhorsen series (first book is called 'Sabriel').

lotusbell · 20/07/2019 22:13

My 12 yo loves the Percy Jackson series, what about Magnus Chase? DS reading them atm, think they are Norse mythology. Was going to suggest Maze Runner, but see you've me mentioned it. Not sure what DS will.go to next as he's read most of Rick Riordans now. But he also like Manga, so Hmm

londonloves · 20/07/2019 22:10

Phillip Pullman is brilliant

WoogleCone · 20/07/2019 22:09

I second skullduggery pleasant by Derek landy. Great books!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/07/2019 22:07

Or Michelle Paver's Chronicles of Ancient Darkness. DS2 is obsessed with that...

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/07/2019 22:05

Michael Grant's 'Gone' series might well be worth a look, my boys are both very keen on it (14 & 12 currently)

Danglingmod · 20/07/2019 22:04

Gone series by Michael Grant
The Enemy series by Charlie Higson
Zom-B series by Darren Shan

TheWitchwithNoName · 20/07/2019 22:02

Sorry, just saw he didn’t like maze runner ☺️

TheWitchwithNoName · 20/07/2019 22:01

Agree with mortal engines and the knife of never letting go (chaos walking). Maze runner is also excellent

Muuuuuuuum · 20/07/2019 21:58

Lockwood & Co

Notmyideamovingon · 20/07/2019 21:58

Terri Terry slated

mum2jakie · 20/07/2019 21:57

Chaos Walking trilogy

kazza446 · 20/07/2019 21:53

My son has absolutely loved the Rick riordan heroes of Olympus series!

3girlsmama · 20/07/2019 21:52

Skullduggery pleasant

Cheesecake53 · 20/07/2019 21:49

Gregor the Overlander, also by Suzanne Collins, is a really good read (five not so long books). She is currently writing a prequel to the Hunger Games.

FatChloe · 20/07/2019 21:49

Or Artemis Fowl?

FatChloe · 20/07/2019 21:48

Robert Muchamore Cherub series? I loved them!

dementedpixie · 20/07/2019 21:48

Divergent trilogy
Gone series

user27495824 · 20/07/2019 21:48

Divergent series too, I've ordered the box set already for Christmas.
