Can anyone recommend a book for a little girl that i could give as a present. She is 3.
10 years ago, my sons were that age and they loved:
The Gruffalo
Smiley Shark
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
Room on the Broom
etc

I think they are all fairly unisex, but maybe there are others now that are better, and maybe there are ones that would appeal mainly to girls that I never noticed??

We loved Sir Charlie Stinky Socks, could fun to read out loud, fab illustrations and good stories. I always found it really sweet that the princess he is always trying to rescue/please is really his little sister.

My daughter is 2+ now and she really likes the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar By Eric Carle. Its educational as well. Its a about a hungry caterpillar, eating lots of colorful food and cocooning and then transforming into a beautiful butterfly. Easter Smile

Also, the series Harry and the Dionsaurs.

Christobel51 · 24/04/2017 21:13

Any of the ones he suggested already my children love.
Aliens love underpants is good.
I also really like Chocolate Mousse for Greedy goose by Julia Donaldson and Nick Sharratt

Snail and the whale - actually anything by axel and Julia
Aliens love underpants
Don't call me sweet
Supertato

These books are read pretty much ever night. Me and oh both know stick man and gruffalo off by heart

TiggyMP · 24/04/2017 19:44

All children should have a copy of You Choose by Nick Sharrat.

Pretty much anything by Sue Hendra. No-Bot, Supertato, Wanda and the Alien.

I wonder what you would think of "Dream-O-Doodle". It's a jolly bed-time story with a variety of characters and scenarios. It will keep your little one entertained. It is also a rhyming story- catchy for children and easy to remember.

MaroonPencil · 06/04/2017 17:21

You Choose got absolutely worn to pieces here, it was so loved. They also loved Oi Frog.

How about Dogger, Sally's Secret, or Rhymes for Annie Rose, all Shirley Hughes with beautiful pictures.

memyselfandaye · 06/04/2017 17:18

Socks
Pants
Eat your peas
I'll love you always
Guess how much I love you
Big Bad Bun

chrissymum2x · 06/04/2017 17:16

A book that I would absolutely recommend as one to read aloud to your kiddos or to let them try on their own is Basil Hazel Forest. It is full of brilliant illustrations to keep them engaged as well as a great story of team work. I highly recommend it. I found it on Amazon.

The Day The Crayons Quit, and its sequel, the name of which eludes me right now.

user1491162601 · 02/04/2017 20:58

Anything by Julia Donaldson is a hit in our house and right now our 3 year old's favourite book is 'Zoe Zebra Loses Her Z' which we found on Amazon.

At this age the rhyming story books are they ones they love.
